  1. No-one's agreeing with you, though. People are stating that fansites HELP Runescape, which is true, but you're the only person arguing that Runescape's success and longevity are a direct result of fansites, which is preposterous. And that was a nice underhanded insult. :shame: This. Danz, your argument is similar to the asinine suggestion made whenever someone says that a TIF Times was poorly written, namely "If you are going to criticize you must be willing to write your own article" or "Well why don't you write an article then?" They aren't valid arguments. I don't have to be an author to know when a book sucks. I don't have to make movies to know when a movie sucks. And also, I don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that the thesis of this topic is asinine. We can't know, and there is no way of even attempting to prove that RS would/wouldn't be around without fansites. Heck, I could try and say that fansites DRIVE people away, either 'cuz people get offended on forums, or a poorly written guide frustrates noobs to the point of leaving. Would that topic have any more discussion value, or logical backing, to be able to even TRY and reason it out? NO. Its not that "I don't want to understand the topic". Its that the topic is simply ludicrous. Sonikku. PROVE IT. Thats my point. If there weren't fansites, would there be something else? Would there be groups on skype, facebook, IRC, MSN? Would IRL friends play RS together? We don't know, and can't prove it, because there ARE fansites. What Danz is suggesting is basically "What would RS be like without the internet as we know it". If he is trying to say that fansites keep RS alive, that is the biggest exaggeration since Al Gore invented the internet. Any time you get people together on a popular game, they find some way outside the game to interact. Some meet IRL. Some talk on IRC/skype/MSN. Some chat on facebook/myspace. How is one supposed to argue whether RS would be around without considering all that? A much better topic would be "Would RS still be around if there were no ways outside the game whereby players could interact and share information". Much more detailed, and actually we can try to prove it one way or the other. I might not DG as much without Skype, for instance.
  2. Considering I've been a part of HYT for a year or so now and help moderate the chat with a good group of people and a great chat owner, I can honestly say that whatever poor experience you've had isn't what we are today. You basically have to be trying to break the rules to get reprimanded lol :P It might not be the old Lightning, but the game simply isn't the same as it was then anymore, so there's no use in comparing apples to oranges. Come into the chat with a fresh perspective sometime. Lightning was much better, they actually understood humor. Kicking (and banning) people for making a phat once, well, shows what type of CC it is. There are numerous WBM's, and the mods are way too uptight. This is my opinion, from several years and several different HYT CC's.
  3. They are saying that the topic is so ludicrous that there is nothing LOGICAL to post about. This is trying to talk about what doesn't exist: (Would the US still be around if ancient Greece had lasted another century) and the like. Would YT still be around if people couldn't comment on videos might be another good topic to discuss [/sarcasm] A better topic would be, would RS still be played as much without clan chat.
  4. But there's another thing. To have fun, you don't necessarily have to enjoy the process. I'm sure they'll all have fun gloating over their accomplishment and seeing their name immortalized forever on the highscores. I did not enjoy getting 86 runecrafting for the Achievement Tasks. But do I enjoy that awesome taskmaster emote? Yes. on a 200mil xp goal it really makes me sad to think about all the time they wasted. Imagine how much they could have benefited the world if they took that energy and put it into something real and productive. Now I dont find myself to be any different when I say this ^Assumes that a significant amount of time would be dedicated to "worthy" pursuits if not "wasted" on RS.
  5. negative mage def, better off with DFS/D defender.
  6. 69 hunter 77 con some WCing f53 done (137k xp and 1.05m tokens now) C1's done. Eclectic day.
  7. not necessarily, especially when you take cost into account: pbaxe>prim2h if you use surgebox and don't like extra clicking pbaxe>prim2h if you like to use tank ring and key pspear > pbaxe if you have a hex bind and like to use desperado prapier ?> pbaxe in certain scenarios i think an interesting question to look at would be if platebody/leatherbody binds were better for non-rushing groups that always stay together. not saying that i advocate non-rushing, as i think it's silly - i'm just curious if hood is 100% the best defensive bind. Most of those are wrong, from a pure DPS standpoint. 2h is still better then pspear, just quickswitch between desp and serker. PBax->tank<2h unless keying. prapier>pbax in some situations, but bax is still a better bind.
  8. Who knows how to do this? Its one of the few things that makes stomp more enjoyable^.^
  9. Don't kill dinos they nerf your xp.
  10. Longer then the GP to buy the dbones would take.
  11. [hide=Wall of text] [/hide] That was well written. I agree. Although RS does have its detractors, mainly from people who never played it much, or at all, to the same extent any other MMO has its haters. Even WoW, outside of gamers, has people who look down on videogames as a waste of time. Its not exclusive to RS, its just from a different group of people. Just as reenactors make fun of "farbs", and "farbs" look down on reenactors for being "stitch nazi's".
  12. being a young man of strong moral fiber whose lifestyle choices lead him to be a 500lb obese no lifer, i have ethical qualms regarding training agility extensively or training thieving at all Thought u didn't believe in morals?
  13. Trick was to keep the bananas in a line, either straight or diagonal, and keep them around 3-4 spaces away.
  14. You missed the damn point. There wouldn't be anything wrong if the SSH was only good for doing one very specific thing. But it is basically a manditory item for any teams that want to attain high exp rates. Regardless of role. Rapier is the best slayer weapon, okay. But what is the best weapon for killing Kree? What is the best weapon for killing waterfiends? What is the single best weapon for PvP? (CR is great for PvP, but spec weapons are also used) If CR was the best weapon for every single scenario (not just every melee scenario, not just every stab scenario, but EVERY monster and every mini game etc..) then yes, the weapon would be a bore. SSH in DG is pretty much the best bind for every player to obtain to achieve maximum DG exp. If it was only the best bind for melee, or if it was only the best bind for keyers...that would be a different story. Obviously there will always be a best bow, a best weapon, etc. But these are for certain roles. But it seems like every role in DG would pretty much love to have a SSH. Best wep for WFS is CM. Best wep for kree is CCBow. PvP, it depends on your stats, but for maxed players rune pking its generally the CR. PvP is different in that skill and luck play more a factor then simple DPS, unlike most other monsters. You seem to be confused as to "rolls" in DG. There are two roles, in good rushing teams: Keyer, and non-keyer. That is it. Keyer well keys. Non keyers do puzzle rooms, clear GDs, etc. Sure, you can bind a plate instead of a SSH, but unless no one else has one, you'll be clearing everything in a mime room, etc. Like I've said before, I don't see the problem with exclusivity. I also don't understand people with 57 DG to understand how DG *really* works, and how to do it well. I know I didn't until quite a higher level. SSH also relies on skill, between SS flashing, and managing prayers, and working together. If you can't do those, a plate helps more.
  15. Logical fallacies are quite useful in an argument, as long as you don't get caught using them, hence why I use them on occasion. SSH are still rather rare, I haven't seen one in like 10m DG xp. A more fitting way would be to enable better use of boss drops. Once I get primal pl8, there is no reason to ever care about the Warlords drops ever again.
  16. Did "Do No Evil" Today. Annoying at parts, but all in all a fun, well thought out quest. Got me 71 thieve. Also played some fastsc. Need like 10 more tools to have 80 con banked, since I really hate con.
  17. That simply means there is no precedent. Your argument is based on only one thing: The premise that higher level requirement should necessitate an item is always better then a lower tier/level item. That premise is false, and nonsensical. Not to mention, it does not take into account the difference between slayer drops, and boss drops, inside daemonheim.
  18. Happens all the time. Whip>GS. Fletching mith bolts>rune. ETc
  19. Okay, bro..here's the situation. There is a problem because the hood is the BEST ITEM in dungeoneering. It is the best for keyers, rushers, meleers, mages, etc. For your other binds, there are plenty of choices depending on which role you want to play. But for the most part, everyone would be wise in devoting one of their binds to the hood. Let's use your comparison to the rest of Runescape. You started listing off a bunch of different items which are all "the best". Well...heres the problem, you listed the best 1 handed melee weapon, the best mage necklace, etc. You listed nothing that is the single best equip slot in the game. For example, imagine I created an amulet that gave +100 to all defenses, +50 to all attack styles, +50% magic damage, 40 strength and 40 prayer. For the hell of it, lets say this amulet also let you talk to cats, ghosts, camels, and monkeys, AND it also gave you the effect of restoring 5 prayer points any time you buried a bone of any type. It is also tradeable, but you can get as many as you want from an NPC in Lumbridge who gives them out to everybody. It also has no level requirements to wear. There would never be any reason to wear an amulet that is NOT this amulet. Everyone would just have this ammy on at all times and the game would be super boring. This is the same problem that the SSH has: theres really no reason that you shouldn't bind it. You are 57 DG. You really can't argue with some people who have over 100x your xp, when you are arguing something you don't understand. There will ALWAYS be a best something for any task. Best damage spec wep for x task, etc. This is the best 2nd bind. If you nerf/change it, then something ELSE becomes the best item, get it? How exactly do you change that, give items random specs? FYI, the best weapon for slayer is the chaotic rapier, followed by whip. That doesn't make the game boring.
  20. Yes, its number of rooms opened/number of rooms total that is used. So the xp difference between 59 rooms and 64 is none, as long as all doors are opened.
  21. Few hours. I just chinned the last 1.1m xp so I could get sagi arrows for my Hexhunter.
  22. Yea, spawn the strongest boss monster in the middle of a town in another game and you get 10000 people rushing it for lols. Spawn corp in the middle of varrock and you get 10000 people on the forums whining about how they are going to quit. Well, in Darkfall Online where that video is taken from, you lose all your inventory when you die, so... And why would runescape people go whine on the forum really? Have you ever looked at the RSOF?
  23. I RARELY see anyone who favored a platebody over hood. (Unless the person isn't familar with the hood's capabilities) but yes, it will make a difference since mages will bind a robetop, rangers will bind a leatherbody, etc. No they wouldn't, anymore then any 100+ would bind a range/mage top. We all bind plates, unless we have HHb or something. RS isn't like other games; There will almost always be a best chose. In this case, if hood were nerfed, then 98% of the people using it now would all switch to the same other option, most likely plate.
