Clinton Bush Haiti Fund
Bush has a heart? This coming from the guy who as govenor of texas laughed in the face of a convict as she was begging to not get the death penalty? Nope somethings fishy here. There was also a video from Bush's trip to haiti i'll try and dig up. its basically him shaking hands with a haitian then while the camera is still rolling he turns away in disguist from him and then wipes his hand on clintons shirt.

Creative Genetics
curing HIV and other diseases is good and all but personally i would like to see genetics advance to the point where we can actually start manipulationg our own DNA. Not small things like hair or eye clour, male or femal, ect. but grander things like actually growing wings or gills, and have people actually start being able to live underwater with no support gear or experiance flying first hand. But it won't happen in many centuries if not millenia. a man can dream though, a man can dream...

New US Heathcare Reform Legislation Passed by Legislature
Wasn't this the bill that gives everyone universal health care by forcing them to buy health care and then if they couldn't afford it they would be fined or thrown in jail? Or has that draft been thrown out?

Shattered Heart Discussion
uh trying to figure out all the little ins and outs of how this update works is giving me a headache. So so far you don't get mineing stones per rock but per swing. do you only get agil stone per obstacle or is per lap now? and just found out that when using falcon to catch kebbits you don't actually need to catch anything and you still have a chance for stones. Wondering if the above is true for other traps as well? And i'm still waiting on an answer as to weather wc and fishing behave the same way as mineing?

Runescape fails at skills
All member skills(except for 1) have major problems. Heres a look at some of the problems: Summoning: CHARMS ARENT TRADEABLE! Nothing else needs to be said here. ------------ the fact that the skill isn't buyable is what makes it so respectable Hunter: Before implings, it ws virtually impossible to make steady money off this. ------------- chins were always good cash, and now with grenwalls its even better, not to mention low swamp lizards which are in high demand for summoning. Construction: This was an epic fail. There is no way to make money, and houses are pretty useless unless you have millions of friends. ----------- tele tabs, infinit tele portals, costume room to free up bank space... stop me any time here. Herblore: Too expensive. ------------ so is prayer Runecrafting: I KNOW THIS ISNT A MEMBER SKILL, but it practically is and it is FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE to level in. Why bother when every monster drops runes?!?!?!?!?!?!? This is THE STUPIDEST skill. --------------- agree there, although i can see one day there being elemental and catalyst runes like in minigames these days. Farming: Too long, but actually great money. But, before the GE this was also IMPOSSIBLE to level in. ------------------------------- If you kept all herb seed drops and all tree seeds you get from nests then it was never to bad even before ge. still slow but not impossible. Agility: SSSSSSSLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW. -------------- again so are other skills but agil does offer a tone of useful short cuts so i belive it is worth it. Slayer: Again, soooooooooooooo slow. ------------------------ again worth it Thieving: Once again, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow. ----------------------- its not to bad if you know how to train it, and with multy pick it can be decent cash. And soon, there will be another new members skill. And if it follows the pattern, it will fail just like the rest of them. ---------- wait and see.

shattered heart
I can't take shattard heart anymore! I've gone throuhg 400 count it 400 mage pots and 500 range pots without getting the first herblore stone! I actually don't mind it to much because its the first time in a while that i've actually enjoyed working on herblore. But there just has to be a limit. especially since we will have to do this for 28 more weeks at least. They should add an xp cap where after your gain a certain amount you will automatically get the first stone and then double it for the second. but still have a random chance of getting the stones until you reach that cap.

Shattered Heart Discussion
Mineing stone doesn't apear to be based on if you get ore but the swings you do per rock. in other words you get a rock without actually getting any ore. So higher level ores or rune ess might be best since you have to switch between ore less often. Been lucky with wc so havn't had to cut many trees. does anyone know if this is the same with it? if it is i'm switching to magics.

Dahmaroc?
It might be possible. we know zaros had a massive empire but that empire wouldn't have lasted long if all that kept it going was combat. Even zamorak has crafters and others supplying his forces. Maby its a prequel to an entirely skill based magic spell book. unlike lunar which still has some basis in combat.

6 Year Old Boy Suspended From School For Making A "Gun" With His Hand
What really surprises me is that people are still surprised by these dumb events. Personally i stopped being shocked by shock news after the 6 or 7 year old girl got a fine for drawing on the sidewalk in front of her house with sidewalk chalk.

Toys of your childhood.
Good old street sharks. I not sure whatever happened to all o fmine. And could it be... a mighty max that i didn't actually have :ohnoes: Gargoyles and dragonfly's were the other big two for me. And I always liked digimon over pokemon. Digimon at least had a plot line and wasn't just going to eight gyms over and over besides one where there were 4 gyms....

Shattered Heart Discussion
If anyones interested i don't think consentrated ores work. 5 invens of gold ore and nothing but not only did i get both of my mining ones from addy ore i got them both from the same rock. also i don't think you need to actually catch anything with box traps to get a rock just have it go off. i got one of them in my inventory from hunting but i was zoned out after an hr so i'm not sure if there was actually anyhting in that trap.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
I give anyone this challenge if they think that jad is so easy no matter your connection. Get a satalite high speed service that has a time delay of at least 2 seconds then try and beat jad. Time delay is not lag, time delay is where it takes a certain periode for data to be transfered from your computer to a server because of a satalite and vice versa. In other words when jads emote or sound for attacking apears on your computer two seconds have actually passed. and then it takes another few seconds for the prayer to actaully activate when you click the button. I'm just sick and tired of people just assuming that you can get a decent connection no matter where you live.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
It depends on the person really. I found nomad to be easier simply because hes so predictable and you can prepare for his attacks while jad its just lag and die.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
Thats actually a great point; I'd love to watch people claiming to have bad connections now avoid the tunnel attacks while they're meleeing them. Because some slayers might use their head instead of just wacking away with a gs all day. they might notice something. Such as a way to stop them from actually ever using their special attack. I'll let u high and mighty people with high speed figure it out for urself. heres a hint though. if you watch tremors its not that hard to figure out.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
forgot about barrel chest but if u bring torags hes not that bad. or if u manage to trap him couldn't kill you at all. i don't actually remember much of the lunar quests but i don't think it was to bad And nomad is a challenge but if you keep at it you will notice patterns when to hide behind the pilar what equipment works best and he has nothing that hits over 30 besides his hp lv -1 attack but with that he gives you plenty of warning to heal up. those compared to jad which can hit over 90 on every attack are childs play. And will all quests u can learn which equipment works best ect, with jad its just hoping you don't lag.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
Could not agree with this more. While we get rid of the Fire Cape requirement let's also throw away the need to do hard quests so we can access everywhere because it's unfair to the people with bad internet and they can't fight boss monsters. all quest boss monsters are easy on laggy computers because they have no ko potential so if you lag out it shouldn't be a problem at least for a short while. while jad is the one exception where if you lag your dead. The only exception to this is nomad but he is predictable, even if you lag you still have to time to predict his attacks and is only a matter of trial and error until you find something that works, ie hiding behind pillar early ect. You just can't compare quests to jad.

Is It Really That Cold?
No we don't. the majority of the data that is used to asume this point is from the fact that the earth heats up when co2 levels rise. The theory behind this is that greenhouse gasses trap the heat from the sun in the atmosphere preventing it from escaping. If this were the case then we would expect to see a increase in temperature in the atmosphere, I forget which level, and then over time see an increase in surface temperature. Any reliable data that should be used for determining if the eath is heating up because of greenhouse gasses would come from atmospheric readings, not surface data which is, from what I can find, is the the only data that the IPCC has been using in its reports. And even then it is also proven that in higher co2 environments plant growth is stimulated, its the reason why alot of the comercial greenhouses pump co2 into the buildings, and an increase in plant life means a decrease in co2. If anything it would be comercial logging and other deforistation projects that would be the cause of global warming, not the fact that we are pumping co2 into the atmosphere, simply because volcanoes alone produce more co2 then most cities combined. Of course they would have thought of that. But because they have used data in their reports that has been proven to be unsound it sheds doubt onto any other data they might be collecting. Whether or not the data is correct is a moot point at the moment simply because they felt the need to use unsound data in their reports. It is true that the average co2 is up. However there have been points in history where co2 levels have skyrocketed because of volcanic eruptions. For instance if yellow stone were to sudenly erupt again it would far eclipse any co2 levels that humans could dream of producing. I agree with you that one of the reasons why we might be suffering from global warming is deforistation. However even if humanity were to stop producing any co2 but still keep logging the temperature would still go up because there are just so many natural producers of co2. A carbon tax or a complete switch to green alternatives would have no effect if we continue logging. Yes but he is the one who is supposed to ensure that those reports are accurate. Having someone who has no clue as to if the reports are actually correct just helps to invalidate any legitimate arguments that might be in it. It would be like me trying to validate astro physics or any other similar material and saying that it must be correct because so and so told me it is. In the long term it would be. But first effective alternatives would need to be developed and in that time the world would suffer and nothing would actually change since there are no alternatives that would be comparable to gassoline and other fossile fuels even with a tax hike. If they would would have first developed effective alternatives and then added the tax it might work but now it is just going to be more suffering for alot of people.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
I can name one reason: Laggy connections. Its the one main reason i will never attain a fire cape,,, (untill of coure better pc or internt, both i have to pay for comes along) But i, Personally don't care otherwise, just that post above bugged me And what's stopping you from going to a friend's house? A library? Sigh this is gonna turn into the new should f2p get skill capes debate isn't it? For one you might be in the country where everyones internet connection is the same, if they have any at all. 2nd, just personally but the nearest library is a 3 hr round trip. not everyone lives in a city where you can have anything in a 10 minute walk. Then don't play the game. Just because of your personal issues (no money to pay members, no good connection to fight Jad among other dangerous game content), doesn't mean that we compromise on everything. Is the world unfair? I'm glad you realised that. That applies even for a game. But hey, Jagex won't hear us here. I need to devote more time to posting on the RSOF. Fine then lets start having country specific updates. I mean after all its not jagex's problem that you don't live in say pakistan. Same concept really just because you live in a certain area you are unable to access this content. And the world is only unfair because people like you refuse to try and change it.

Is It Really That Cold?
hydrogen will never be effective because we currently lack any materials that are actually strong enough to store it in high enough quantities to be used for medium length trips. ever see arny actually drive his hydrogen powered hummer around for anything other then a meeting with enviromentalists? There used to be a car that was made in california that was completly electric and had good enough milage for the average american to drive. But the project was scrapped and replaced with... get this... the hummer. If anyone wants to find out more look up the EV-1 i think it was called or rent or buy the movie "who killed the electric car". And i hate that you used the term deniers in your post. No one thinks that the climate is not shifting. What is doubted is whether or not humans are actually the cause. Yes polluting is bad but have you actually seen any of the stratagies that people are proposing to stop climate change? I'll never forget one "scientist", i use that word with the utmost distaste, wanted to create a massive human made volcanic eruption.. And the carbon credit thing that was proposed by al gore i think it was? doesn't do anything to actually help the environment. its just a tax to be sent to all companies who pollute and offers no incentive to actually stop that. How is a carbon tax not an incentive to stop polluting? I'm seeing a trend where climate change skeptics seem to be preoccupied with proposed policy on climate change rather than the science behind it... Either that or picking up on mistakes or infering a global conspiracy from isolated incidents. Its the same theory that raising taxes on smokes or alchohol will stop people from smoking and drinking. Raising taxes on it is a good first step but if there is no method that is cheaper or at least on par with current power generating techniques then all it does is drain money away from buisnesses which will then raise their own products price to compensate and just make everyones life that much more difficult. And the reason why we are so foccused on the policy instead of the actual science is because we have no idea right now what scientific reports are actaully scientific. First off if you look closly at the graphs that are used to show how co2 levels rise when the earth heats up you'll notice something. co2 doesn't actually start to rise until "after" the temperature starts to rise. but if you compare a graph of the suns sun spot activity to the earths temperature you'll see a pattern that is alot closer then the co2 levels with global temperature. Second off alot of the temperature sensors that have been used to moniter the current global temperature have been set up in cities, some even set up right next to heating exhaust vents. And it has been proven that cities and towns are actually warmer then the surrounding environment. Third is that of all the green house gasses co2 makes up less then one percent, man made co2 is even less then that. And we are expected to believe that co2 is the only reason that the climate is changing. In fact the largest green house gass in the atmosphere is actually water vapour. And that's only 3 of the many debates going on as to climate change. and a fun fact is that the head of the IPCC doesn't have any degree whatsoever in climetology or anything els similar. He's a railroad engineer. Yet we are supposed to believe anything he says with out question?

What animal your own weight can you beat in barehand combat
With no weapons... Humans are doomed. Fighting a cow. they kick you and your dead, a bull would be even worse. As for sheep. the hard things on top of the male's heads are called horns. and they bleeping hurt! Only thing we really stand much of a chance against is a small to medium dog or turtule anything els is pretty much slim to none. Although a snapping turtle would own us. if i had to pick something deadly i'd at least want something to go out with a bang. I choose the komodo dragon. i mean if it even lands one small bite your dead either from blood loss from its venom or infection from its bacteria so if you do beat it you would be a god!

Lets put it this way. The nearest town, aka general store, a gass station and one house is a half an hour drive from my house. The nearest library is a good 1 1/2 hours away. And actually 3 of my neighbors play rs as well. they all use the same high speed system as me. so you then want me to spend three hours driving and spend an additional 1-2 hrs per jad attempt to try and get a cape. I don't want jad dumbed down. what i want is for the item to provide a benifit when killing icewyrms but not have an item that is so dependent on where you actually live as a requirement to kill it. I am all for actually training skills up to access new content. If a monster comes out that needs full gold castle wars armour i would gladly spend the months getting it so i could try out the new monster. What attracted me to rs in the first place was that it was so wonderful with almost any connection. So what really bugs me is that they come out with content that is dependant of having a good internet connection or an insane amount of luck. Heck i'm surprised that i managed to beat nomad even though it did take me like 30 tries so don't ever call me lazy just because you city folk think that you can get broadband at the snap of your fingures. And there is a difference between lag and a time delay. with lag you space out for a second and when you stop lagging you get the multiple attack splashes ect. and is managable since you still have a constant data feed and can eat normally ect. With time delay it works like this. 1)Jad attacks 2)two seconds minimum baring any bad weather it shows up on my computer that jad is attacking 3) i see the attack and click the correct prayer button 4) two seconds later my prayer comes up and by that time jad has already hit me and has begun his next attack Human reaction time is what? 3/4 of a second at best? So by the time my prayer has actually come on a minimum of 5 seconds, if there is absolutly no bad weather, has passed. by that time jad has already hit me and begun his next attack. No its not about having rich parents. Its where you live. Out in the country it is alot harder to get any decent broad band connection that is not satalite. And thank you PereGrin for actually being constructive and not just saying that everyone is a lazy slob because of their connection. Might try meleeing him latter when i get some spare cash.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
now here is an idea that i think it decent, still i love to see all the level 93 slayers who cant manage to get a fire cape XD its kinda sad tbh seeing as he has been killed in 6 seconds w/o pray switching Its also possible to solo the corp and how many people actually do that? And i'm 94 slay with almost max stats besides pray. And it is imposible for me to kill jad. Its not that i'm lazy or don't like fight caves, Its actually my second favorite minigame, it is literally impossible for me to kill him. The reson why is because of my internet conncection. The only, ONLY, conection that i can get out here is satalite and because of that there is a time delay from when i see or hear his attack to when i switch prayers. Because of that no matter what i do it is impossible for me to actually protect against one of his attacks unless it is through sheer dumb luck that i pick the right prayer. Having an item as a requirement that is impossible for some people to get simply because of where they live is a dumb idea. Like others have said you could have an enchanted fire tiara, like the enchanted water tiara, that uses runes to protect against ice ( might even be usable for ancient spells or wyverns but thats another topic), fire gloves, ring of fire, heck even an adze could be used, or simply a dumbed down version of the fire cape that degrades and can only be bought with tokuul so that it still introduces people to the fight caves. What i would personally like to see happen is have an area efect in the icewyrm caverns similair to the desert or the snow areas near gwd that does minor damage and reduces a random stat slowly over time. a fire cape would nullify that effect and make it easier to kill them but slayers who have not gotten it could still kill them but require more work.
