Well, you dont have to finish fremmy isles to get to yaks. Butt, I suggest experiments with bronze knifes.

Train slayer maybe? Tanning d hides is a good way to earn money, but you have to have money to earn money.

I really dont think you should make a pure with just combat stats, you would get destroyed by people with 60+ def. Train its range and mage, make it a hybrid. It would make your experience much better.

Do a bit of questing(Priest in peril, Tree gnome, Grand tree) so you can unlock new places. Train a bit of your member skills, I recommend agility as it really helps with other skills.
