  1. Wow, Leesters' style of splitting seems to have caught some controversy. As somebody who has been going to Dag kings since they're creation, and has been a proud partner with Leesters ever since he paid 4.1m to the TET in order to take me as a slave, I have to admit that his method of splitting is one of the best, and most fair that I have seen. I can't list 'em all, but I'll go over some other methods and why I think what Leesters does is more fair. 1: Everyone for himself -- Good if everybody has an equal chance of getting a drop, but this is not often the case. This method of splitting is almost always unfair to somebody, if not all but 1 or 2 in the trip. 2: Split between players of different styles (e.g. mages split their drops with each other, rangers split drops with each other, etc): This is usually fair, but can cause a LOT of discontent. I've gone with teams who chose to do this while maging alone (aka I had nobody to split with), and got 3-4 good drops while the rangers and meleers got nothing, or maybe 1 item, to split between 2-3 people. This caused a lot of bickering and since a lot of times one Dag King will drop a lot more than another, it can result in some pretty unfair trips, considering that without the rest of the team, there's no way you would've gotten all those kills. Splitting between whoever is in the room at the time is really good because it's more united. Everybody's part of a team and it's a lot more fun when nobody's feeling resentful because they're not getting a share of the loot. Also, I think it's fair to only split with people there, because it gives incentive to stay as long as possible. Usually the team with Leesters will try to help each other out with extra antis, pray pots, etc, that way nobody usually leaves way before the rest of the team. But if something happens and the team has to teleport, why should the last man standing have to share all his drops he gets in the 20 minutes he stays after his team has left? In a closing note, I have this for ya [ForbiddenSite]
  2. not to mention when i was interested in actually writing for tip.it times (after which i became massively bogged down in homework), eeeeediot was the one coordinating it all. hmm, this is my first post here in... some months... OK I'll throw you all a bone. Senor Tamale is absolutely correct. When the Times first started, Eeeeediot WAS the Editor. No joke, I'm not lying. But please remember that E has been gone from the staff here for quite some time now (almost a year, if I remember correctly), and he hasn't been the Editor since before he left. You're too generous :P
  3. as much as they've dropped, i would imagine now is a GREAT time to buy. With Christmas coming up and the fact that rares will always go up over time anyway, this is a good chance for both long-term and short-term "investors"
  4. without high scores, there would be no competitive spirit involved in raising levels. It takes a LOT of self-determination in order to get a 99 for yourself, but takes very little to get a 99 for ranks. On top of that, without the high scores, a player could claim to have any level they want, and they would, which would lead to a LOT of trust trade scams, as well as make having a high level in a skill meaningless, since there's no way to check the veracity of your claim.
  5. it was really useful when splitbark came out, until mystic did. It's a shame how much of a ghost town that has become (no pun intended). It was lots of fun killing and burning shades there.
  6. How did you get in touch with the editor? I was on crew and it was my job (among others) to post a link to the article when it was released... I also spent lots of time harassing people to get in touch with n0valyfe and zezima for the interviews :D
  7. It was part of my job on crew to post the link to the article when the Editor put it up... just like it is Kiara's job now that I am no longer on crew, and Eeeeediot took care of it before he left crew and the job was given to me. I guess all 3 of us are Editors... And maybe you should try READING a thread before you make reference to what I said or didn't say in it... I post this thread every week. It's part of my job on Crew. Doesn't mean I'm the author lol.
  8. They will never tell. I made it clear that they had to keep it silent when I put them in touch with the Editor.
  9. Just hope this post lets you people realize that just because somebody is in TET, it doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. Maybe if you check archives, you'll notice that The Editor has been a masked identity for as long as the Tip.It times have been written. Masking it AFTER an article was removed would not have had any point, considering Andrew would have known who the author of that article was. As for being the original editor, I can guarantee you that I am not the Editor, and I was certainly not the original Editor. I wasn't even added to crew until after I wrote the article about Dagannoth Kings, per request. If you want to guess that I was/am/have been an Editor, that's fine... but don't claim something as fact when you obviously don't know what you're talking about.
  10. I guarantee you that Newptor did NOT write that article. I'm all for speculation, but as much a problem as that article caused, I wouldn't want a guess to turn into a rumour
  11. This is getting amusing :D I seriously think that people are focusing WAY too much on the last article as a source of clues. I honestly don't know who the Editor is at this time, but I know who has been before, and there are NO good clues in the last article to any of the previous editors that I knew. IT WAS FICTION ALREADY
  12. It's a shame to hear about that man, but I don't think you should quit playing X Runes over 1 item. Trust me, I've lost worse, and quitting that account to play a pure/noob (whichever it is) won't look that good in 6 months when you start thinking about all the skills you could've been getting on your main. 1 item can be replaced with some elbow grease... Seriously, stay on X Runes
  13. Just got this sent to me from Contact Us -- Anybody going to Dagannoth Kings shouldn't need to be told that a higher range bonus will make you range better. That's just common sense... Anyway, I advise against taking range gear that won't be worn full time. It wastes valuable prayer pot space, as well as makes you more prone to damage from Spinolyps. People who bring hides on my trips are always the first to leave. (which is why none of them do anymore) Yes, even though I talk about which monster attacks with what attack, and mention the combat triangle, this wouldn't hurt to clarify some more. If I posted every single combination of armor possible, the guide would be overwhelming to first time users. "Also note that the supplies you can afford may be between the two examples we suggest. You may want to use something between the two extremes." Obby shield offers same defense as granite, so why take a riskier item than necessary? Meleeing with Guthan lets players heal, which in my opinion would be much more helpful than a little strength boost from obby shield. Again, the lowest armor class is supposed to be bare bones minimum... Obby shield would obviously be a step up. This is discussed in the talk about alternating between the two. Nobody should waste resources attacking Supreme when Prime is alive, except for when everybody enters. There are few opportunities to kill Supreme while Prime is alive, and that opportunity isn't worth searching for. "After that, like before, have the rest of your team kill Dagannoth Prime. Once Prime is dead, kill Supreme using protect from range prayer. Then immediately change back to protect from mage prayer, and go back northeast where you will wait for Prime to spawn. From here on you can alternate back and forth between killing Dagannoth Prime and Dagannoth Supreme while taking minimal damage to yourself. If using Guthan, Supreme can even offer good healing potential." "You shouldn't use the more expensive equipment until you are completely comfortable with your ability to stay alive at the Dagannoth Kings, or with your friends' ability to save your items."
  14. I think the ladies are gonna have a hard time beating this one! That looks awesome.
  15. Why do people atack Supreme first? You say earlier in the guide that the Prime is the most powerfull agains our armour. Congrats for the amazing guide =) Yes, the idea is to go in using mage prayer, and kill Supreme as quickly as possible, so that you're prayer is taking care of almost all the hits against you. I'll try to reword it so that it's more clear. Thanks. ~~~ Your common sense is logical, but flawed. The idea is to use protect from mage primarily and have armor that will absorb almost any range damage you take. Done properly, the only time you will have more than 1 Dagannoth King attacking you at a time will be when you enter, but you'll be under constant mage and range attack from Spinolyps. Entry is the most dangerous part, perhaps I need to clarify how it works a little better. and full rune/guthan while maging or ranging isn't a problem. Rex is incredibly weak to magic. Here are the results of my last trip if you think I'm crazy :) ~~~ Thanks for all the feedback so far guys! Please keep it coming so I can do any updates all at once :D
  16. I have a pic of you... but I don't think you'd appreciate if I posted it :P
  17. after you try to deny my good detective work... despicable.
  18. I heard that too, and haven't noticed any lately. The guide was finished before October 23rd, and I hadn't been recently when I finished it, but that's something to look into modifying for sure. I'm sure that Tip.It crew had much bigger things that needed to be finalized before getting this up :)
  19. Guess I'm not sure what you mean. They're all described in the Monsters section, http://tip.it/runescape/?page=dagannoth ... m#Monsters
  20. Mr. X knows me pretty well huh? The only credit I will take for the Zezima or N0valyfe interviews is that I helped the Editor as much as I could to try to make it possible. You may notice that my last article, Pure Essence, Pure Disaster?, was written after the n0valyfe interview and 1 week before the Zezima interview. If I was the Editor, why would I break from protocol of using a hidden name? Seriously folks... stop guessing that I'm the Editor... while there are a lot of articles I like, there are a lot that I wouldn't want anybody to think I wrote.
  21. I got that suspicion a lot when I posted the articles each week. Looks like now Kiara is too :)
