  1. Ok that's fine with me that the holiday items don't need to be useful. Just try and be a little original. For example not making a Santa suit when we already have a hat..there were a lot better choices they could have made. Ultimately though it's Jagex's decision of what they want to do with their game, and I am happy that we get holiday events at all and at the quality of which they are. Looking forward to it.
  2. Yay for dual monitors. Handy program though.
  3. Ad and popup blockers were created for a reason.
  4. Hm I finished my SUPER AMAZING ENTRY but Jagex's mailbox is full and it won't accept my email.. Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep trying even though I probably won't win lol. I still want to send it to Jagex though, you never know...
  5. Gratz guys! I didn't even know about this contest or I woulda entered. Darn..
  6. My reference of the word "soon" isnt 5 months. :P Actually it was 4.
  7. So I hear rumors that this is a hint at the new skill? Or is that people just trying to act like they know something?
  8. Hmmm I wonderz what it could be. We shall see soon enough!
  9. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Gower If that's right it was on the 2nd but whatever. It's the thought that counts! Happy birthday!
  10. Thanks for all the responses guys. As you guys all clearly pointed out, there are pros and cons. If you KNOW for 100% that you will be playing this game for more then the next 4 years then it might be worth the investment, but if not then the offer isn't for you. It looks like some of you think that it would be a waste of money, but for hard core fans it could save them lots of cash in the long run. Personally, I would do it when I have a job and my own income, and only if I have any time left to play Runescape. Otherwise, I just get membership when I want to and have the time, such as in the summer. I am about to graduate HS though and go off to college...which probably means I will have even less time with a job/school/etc. Still I might consider investing in it if I had the money.
  11. Yeah I have seen the same thing about Jagex catching this guy a lot over the past couple of days lol.
  12. It would be more than $200, but I doubt I would. Eh I just guessed $200 because I remember seeing Champions Online and LOTRO for that price.
  13. I was just thinking the other day what it would be like if Runescape offered lifetime membership for purchase. I have heard of some other games doing this (Don't remember exactly which ones) and thought it would be interesting if Jagex instituted this. So my question to you is if Jagex did offer lifetime membership, would you buy it? I might guess it would be around $200. So would you buy for that price? If not, what would you be willing to pay for it? If at all...?
  14. Only advice I could give is to go for something you enjoy, don't want to think of it as a chore. Runescape is just a game after all.
  15. My friend has gotten 2 claws and several shards over 150 kills. Lucky SOB...
  16. Thats from the Runetek5 Dev blog. Neither do you. :-P I said currently they don't have any DirectX bindings for Java. They don't. I never said it wasn't possible or that they weren't working on them. I just find it very weird that Jagex would try to make their new RuneTek Engine based on DirectX, which only runs on Windows. The whole thing about Runescape was that you can run it on Mac, Windows, etc. DirectX would make it no longer multiplatform.
  17. 1. Runescape is still being advertised on Miniclip. 2. They are already advertising on addictinggames as well, and maybe others but I don't know for sure. 3. I wouldn't call Jagex a small company, they do have hundreds of employees...and yes it can maintain a gigantic game (They have been doing it for years no? And it just continues to get bigger?). Jagex already is an MMORPG giant with over 135 million accounts for Runescape.. 4. You have no idea what you are talking about. Runescape will NEVER go to DirectX... Firstly there curently is no bindings for DirectX in Java. I believe there was a project for using Direct3D in Java, but last I heard they discontinued it in 2006. There is JOGL though, but I don't know if that runs on other platforms. That brings me to my last point: DirectX is only for Windows, so even if they could go to DirectX, there goes anyone with other playtorms then Windows.
  18. I don't really want to read all 17 pages of this thread..so sorry if it's already been asked/answered. Is the only reward the magnifying glass/emote? Or am I missing something here? Thanks.
  19. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?rs2item_id=4138 Lots of info on how to get it in there.
  20. Excellent guide! I'm F2P now and this really helps!
  21. Yeah I always thought that was weird. They have had wizard hats and tops forever but only skirts to match... :?
  22. Something original for a holiday event! Wooooo looks fun and actually requires some effort. Not just clicking to continue through the seemingly endless chat, then do the same thing over and over just to have some more long chats with NPC's...Brain teesers own!
  23. You have to put it like this. [img= INSERT IMAGE LOCATION HERE ] I tried it with your link though and it doesn't seem to work. Try it with another picture.
  24. The discussion of this thread has really strayed off topic. Given the topic is about sailing though... OT: I don't see a boat.
