  1. This movie was awesome, worth 10/10. I thought it's another clicḫ̩̉̉ fest like the other Bonds which I almost started loathing for their typicalness. Just when you think a stereotypical scene happens, no, entirely something different. And when Bond is asked how he likes his martini, shaken or dry, his answer this time is "do I look like I give a *?". Great stuff. Bonus for great intense poker scenes, (that kind of stakes wouldn't be suited for the faint hearted in real life) since poker is a great game. Bond makes a huge mistake the first time thinking Le Chiffre is bluffing, though silently picks up his telltale sign. I was even further convinced of the amazingness of this movie when it was 'supposed' to end, but the woman was actually something else than she was giving an impression of (not giving spoilers in case somebody hasn't seen it) and the movie goes on. It has also really awesome lines which are appropriate to the scenes and can make you laugh. ---- The one with Le Chiffre and the other players after Chiffre wins a pot of $5 million and nobody cares and start mimicing Bond like "hey, bring me one of those drinks too", "I'll have one of those too" "Ok, that's it? Anybody want to play poker?"
  2. With 800k members, they make $133,333 a day (or roughly $4 million a month). The "scam" makes no sense. Their operations are beyond profitable to be shut down. Also the poster knows nothing about Andrew Gower. Even if you haven't met a person, you simply can tell if he's that sort of guy. Andrew would 'never' pull this off, let alone for such a ridiculous sum. And as stated above, he will refund the handful of people who were unbanned and then banned again.
  3. But put yourself in the parents' shoes, when you (if you do) became a parent, wouldn't it be nice to have a cute little robot bidding your will all his/her life? Tell him to get good grades, check. Make a million and give half of it to daddy. Check. You are right though, most "smart" people only study because they've been brainwashed by their parents. I have to disagree partially though because when I was in school I did meet some truly smart people who studied and were good at it because of their own motivation.
  4. Hah, that explains the urge to color your text... 8-) Actually a 13 year old *can* have a 'rep', just make sure it's a positive one. In reality, nobody likes a bully. You don't have to be a coward either, just be yourself and help others in the limits of good taste and friendship. Genuinity sells in the school world.
  5. ..So you watched it? At least, that's a big part of what the document is about. While probably it will take ages to develop technology capable of moving anything sizeable, data may be sent from the past and to the future. Sorry, I tried looking for a youtube link but none found. And Ghost, I'm not sure I fully understood your post now that i re-read it but yes you're then talking to a person who's 0.02 seconds in the future. 8-)
  6. ..Are you really comparing "illegal" aliens to murderers? You probably have no idea under which circumstances they've come in the country, nice comparison. Let's compare the bank robber and the 8 year old candy stealer, after all, both are equally bad because it was "illegal" If they're illegal or not, they're still human beings that need to live. And you really think the american government can get away with starving them to death, potential work force who probably already have a job, and say "they were illegal and deserved it" It's relevant though. Your family makes over 20 times more than the average mexican worker, and those who enter america are often even poorer than that (less than $10k a year). Maybe walking a mile or three in their shoes, a family of 4 that cannot earn enough in Mexico to feed the family and legal immigration in the states takes years, would probably do it 'illegally' than have their family die of hunger.
  7. How can they be 0.1 seconds in the future? Even if they were traveling 5 times the speed of light, the reality is, they are still in the same time frame we are. No, they're not. If you watched the document, you would see how that's not the case. It's not even complicated. I also kindly listed a source where you can read it. Actually, sorry the link was broken. Here's the correct link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel Scroll down to "small travel". A russian astronaut has already gone 0.02 seconds in to the future, though unintentionally.
  8. You're welcome to go get money if you can prove your financial status. Well, I can prove I don't need the money. My family is fairly well off though we need to make at least $20,000 a month to pay our bills. I just don't think it's right to give illegal aliens money because they came to our country and had a child. The US owes so much money to other countries, why the hell are we giving it to illegal aliens!? If your family really makes over $200k a year, you belong in the minority of below 1% of the world citizens, also in the minority of americans (and most people will never even come close to that standard of living, I don't get it why you'd cut yourself and waste such a life. Think if you were born in a different family. You won the 'birth lottery' of life, instead of being born in a poor village with no water and mud huts, you already as a child live in something most people cannot even dream about in the world) It is probably difficult to understand, but those people don't "enjoy" living off welfare. They need it so they can buy food and shelter, medicines, clothes, etc. for their children. They are most likely aiming to make that much money like every other person who comes in the country. Nobody enters america to just freeload. Everybody has a goal of making more money and not being dependent on the system. Don't you think it's an embarrasment for their families? They do want to be independent.
  9. There was a thread about this just a while ago, it was about a BBC document on time travel. I can't find it right now, but you can read about it here. Time travel is, and probably will be, possible in to the future. It already happens in small scale when astronauts reach stunning speeds, though they only go about 0.1 seconds in the future. It will be never possible to go back in time though, i.e. the time before the 'time machine' was built for example.
  10. If you want a RS-like game, try http://www.syrnia.com It's an absolute carbon copy, wondering how they haven't been sued yet. Similar to ArenaScape.

    Poker?

Haha, if anybody wants to play, I'm now online on partypoker in the 50/100 blind bet room 4071770 (holdem). Kicking people left and right with $84k chips after 1 hour, nobody else has even $15k 8-)

....?!?!? Call me next time you have *any* cars for sale. We might be able to even negotiate hundredfold amounts even if you don't deem it necessary.

He's also making $26,000-$104,000 a year playing poker. I don't think it's worth it to chase him down to find out some answers. The sad thing is, that's actually possible (though if you 'play' the stock market with higher funds, $100k a year is nothing). Pro-players win $300k tournaments on and offline all the time. $2k a week isn't unrealistic for poker if you're a *really* good player, $5k into $75k in a stock exchange is. Since he claimed both, I'd say neither are true.

I prefer real casinos too by far and would be much readier to spend money there than online. Still, I'd like to punch the commercial maker in the face. It's a ridiculous statement that every poker site out there is a scam that's designed to take your money. As I said, if you play TH'em for example, there isn't even a 'house' to profit from you, just other players (who are NOT computers, whether some people like to believe so or not). What does the site gain from 'scamming' you?

    Poker?

I just had an argument about this with my father who claimed I was 'dumb' for playing online. He claimed none of the players are real, they're machines, and that the sites are all designed to steal your money. Sure, he has gambled before, but he obviously knows nothing about Texas Hold'em. You don't play against the house. You play against other players who can chat and win and lose just like you. He is too paranoid. And if you play for play chips only, how will the sites ever take your money? And if you do play for small sums like $100, if you lose it all, wow, you lose 1/6th of the sum you could probably make in a week. If you win, you had fun and you made a profit. Known sites with millions of active players like partypoker.com can't be scams. Their source codes have been reverse engineered and checked by independent programmers on many forums to check for any suspiciousness. Not only that, if everybody was reporting that they're only losing money on the site, don't you think the word would spread quite fast and if you searched their name on google, you'd get a ton of warning sites?

    Poker?

Yep, the cops came over to my house and arrested me for a good 3 years when they found out I was playing Texas Hold'em for play chips online. Also, I broke my leg and nose while playing online. So I'd say both are true.
  17. 100% Agree, IMO they are really weird, against my religeon, and it would be there forever. So, while I have read the parts of Bible that prohibit tattoos (I'm not a member of any religion myself), do you believe other christians who do have tattoos (and all other people for that matter) 'go to hell'?

Depends, I'd really like to hear what stocks he chose (since now giving it away wont matter). Making $5k into $75k is easier even in poker than the stock market.
  19. It's a matter of a balanced lifestyle, not just about how much time is spent on an activity. You could even spend 8+ hours a day on a computer and still have a more balanced life than someone who watches 0 hours of TV daily and never uses the computer. Back ages ago, my runescape level of 108 was respectable. Most people would've probably thought I'm some fat nerd with no life. But even then I managed to earn money and go to the gym and socialise. Long ago I learned stereotypes are very bad, and they often turn out to be false.
  20. No, that wasn't my point at all. I'd possibly even prefer using a computer to teach a kid how to play chess due to easier understanding & control. I have played WC3 and Frozen Throne by the way, but I'd still say chess is harder to 'master' and will take more intelligence (and you can play it anywhere in the world without being dependent on electricity or a computer, just the chess pieces). And if we divide that by 7 days a week, we get the average amount of 4 hours a day. Tell me, especially those under 21, how many times have you been called a 'geek' or 'you need to go out more' if you have been on the computer for 3 or 4 hours? That makes no sense, now I have to agree. And even if you'd spend 5 hours a day online, it's still far more of a social experience than watching TV shows with prewritten scripts (sucky reality TV doesn't count as entertainment)

Welcome to the internet. ...I'd have to agree with that. You're either a genius, a lucky b*stard or a liar if you really turned $5k into over 1,500% profit (750% a year) in 2 years. Maybe if you PM me your stock portfolio and I'll check if those companies could've possibly yielded so much profit. flipflop121, you said you take a list of the 'top 100' companies (on which exchange?) and pick out the best ones. As to my knowledge, on NYSE and NASDAQ there are only 1 or 2 companies that can make 100% a year profit, and they are exceptions (like Google that is a stock bubble). We're talking about an amount 15 times larger, and I doubt you could day trade yourself to such an astronomical return. The stock market isn't a magical game of incredible luck, or 'hitting the jackpot'. I highly doubt even Warren Buffett could take $5k, and turn it into $75k on any stock exchange in 2 years (don't say he could just buy his own stock, because it costs over $100k) I'd consider myself professional, I keep an excel table of my portfolio and update it daily, and the maximum I have gained in a full year of trading is a 48% profit in 2003. The rest of the time it's anywhere from near 0% to 25% which is still more than the average return of 8% on moderate-risk long term stocks though.
  22. No, blame Brazil. :P Blame Europe. All of it. No, blaim China. Nuff said. NOT CHINA!!!  Pandas are dead. I too poach your kinsmen for profit.
  23. Ah, right. Maybe in the future you wont be even able to play a game without upgraded brains, but I was rather talking about an earlier era, i.e. where we live now.
  24. How is teaching your kid WarCraft VII, or how to navigate a low level character through World of Warcraft III, somehow "less" than teaching the kid to play chess? My 6 year old cousin can play World of Warcraft and kill monsters after 10 minutes and potentially get the maximum level one day, she can not play chess and understand how it works after 10 days. End of story. But anyways... WarCraft VII?! I'm positive you were talking about III. Still, navigating there doesn't take much intelligence.

    Poker?

Haven't been to there, I often play at the MGM casino in DE area though. The limit sounds fair too if you aren't willing to lose a lot. And to the above post by Viktor... You preload the credits. :P And at least on partypoker there are tables with the blind at like $0.02, even if you lose money, you'll lose next to nothing. If you make money, you can progress to higher tables. Or just play for fun, and you can use play chips. :)
