  1. If the teacher really hates his/her student for asking a question, he should be fired. You may be a big fan of sheepism though, i.e. shutting up and listening to everything without questioning it. That's not education, that's brainwashing. You're supposed to ask stuff like this.
  2. Did I give you a permission to post a picture of my brother, no?
  3. I see in no way how, for example Anesthesia is flaming anyone on this thread. If you believe something, you are ought to defend why you believe so. Maybe runeHQ is an agreelandia where people agree with everything to seem friendly and gain some bonus points. I don't know, haven't been there. Sure, we could let them, then it just wouldn't be a "discussion". If I personally believe something, I have facts to back it up. I don't go around shouting 'the world has existed for 6000 years' or 'magic is real'. There is no science behind astrology, because horoscopes don't exist other than for the purpose of making money. It's exactly the same business as 'tarot readers' and 'fortune tellers'. They continously make false statements, and when 1 out of 100 is accurate, they get praised and recommended. If you can really scientifically prove how planetary movements could possibly alter human brain chemistry (and personality), feel free to.
  4. Agreed. Most people see a kid walking in school, and if he/she wears black, they'll say, "Oooh! He's emo/goth! He likes to cut him/herself!" Categorizing and judging people is wrong, but if one person is clearly that stereotype, then it's ok to an extent. If you automatically assume something of a person based on his clothing, you're just close minded. It's not "ok", it's dumb. "I wont be his friend because he/she wears this or that, tight/loose pants, all black, all white, whatever". That just shows how immature you are, that you pick your friends not by who they are but how you think they're percieved by others.
  5. I just hold a steel ball in my hand and a metal plate below it. When I fall asleep, I wake up to a huge noise and fall asleep again. At least I'm never late for anything. And don't call me a copycat.
  6. Yes they can, but is it worth the extra time spent in school instead of out in the world? Exactly my point. Most people will want to earn as much as possible, as young as possible. I'd much rather earn $10k a month at age 21 and study 5 years less than a doctorate degree guy, who starts earning $12k by the time he's 26. And by then, I have 5 years of work experience and most importantly, have experienced life. I don't care about being 60 years old and being a millionaire. I want to be able to use the money when I haven't lived most of my life yet and I'm physically capable of enjoying it. Most people talk about "if I get a good job, I can retire well on a good pension". Good for you, but I want to be able to enjoy money while I'm still young.
  7. How can you blatantly say it is wrong? They make those fishing lines for a reason, because people use them. Sure, you can disagree with whether or not it is cruel/necessary, but just plain saying "wrong" is stupid. No. Using one is Stupid. Anyone who use one really deserves to have it shoved down their throat and through their lungs. I wonder how much they would enjoy it. Completely unnecessary cruelty towards the fish with zero positive advantages and several clear negative ones. Also if you read what I wrote I did not only say 'wrong', I justified it. Actually fish don't even feel pain nor do they have a memory, basically you could "torture" a fish for as much as you like then throw it in the water and watch it swim away. It won't care as it will have no memory of the incident nor will it feel any pain. Source for this claim? Or personal experience of being a fish?
  8. What about the rest 50% that have a birthday?
  9. Even if it's nitpicking, I'd agree with Runesmithie. While we're at it, let's just shorten it to M. Just use proper abbreviations (if at all...)
  10. I love fishing. It's great. What I hate is morons who do what you said, catch a fish, pose with it and throw it back in the water. What the heck is the point? If you're going to catch it, you may just as well eat it. Otherwise you just tortured it for no reason, not even killing it for the nutrition value, but decapitating it just for your little boasting picture. It's easy to speak like that when you have a home, internet access, a PC and a fridge full of food. Live starved in poor conditions and think again if it's "morally right" to kill animals. There are virtually no vegetarians in poor countries, and they constitute about 30-50% of the world's population. They will eat any food they have, be it rice, chicken, meat, anything. When you haven't eaten good for a couple of days, you wont really care if it's "morally right" to eat that animal. Your fathers, forefathers, and their ancestors killed for meat. It is natural, otherwise they would not have survived. You would not be alive today if it weren't in your genes to like meat. There is nothing wrong with killing an animal for food, just like there is nothing morally wrong with a lion tearing you to pieces if you're dumb enough to go close and take a picture of it or grab it's hair. It's natural.
  11. Guild wars, Lineage, etc. aren't "obscure". They have more players than runescape, they just aren't aimed at an audience that has naptime between 3pm-5pm so they are 'less known'. Just type 'mmorpg' in google, you will see tens of Korean mmorpg's and about 2 new ones popping up monthly. It's getting out of hand  They are mostly carbon copies of each other (though not always) The original poster's text is completely readable, just try it. Nobody cares about 'grammar nazis' and their opinions if they aren't related to MMORPG's in this thread.
  12. European euro coins, especially those minted before the circulation started (pre-2001), 1 and 2 cent ones. They are not available from banks, they have been only sold on a couple of occassions, not sure if more will be minted. Especially the ones from Monaco, Finland, San Marino (1 and 2 cent coins) will become extremely rare in the future. I also collect taxes from the neighbouring village, they want to keep me happy so I don't unleash my wrath.
  13. I don't agree with that Hovind guy, I do agree with Tigra's statement. Some of the 'science' stuff taught in school is misguided or not even verified, since the teachers have zero interest in providing correct interest to some students in, say, remote towns where legislation on the accurateness of information may be loosely enforced (in schools, due to a lack of resources) I do remember when I was in school, we still were taught some of these ridiculous theories like "today's assignment is to write a 2-page essay about how apes evolved into humans". Too bad mrs. Teacher, that didn't happen. Read up more on the topic. Then we were taught how 'humans had a hard time evading dinosaurs'. Good, except humans as we know them didn't even exist during the time of dinosaurs. Not to mention countless other b.s. "subjects" on science. If you are teaching science, you must make sure the facts are correct. This is exactly as pissing off as a document about christmas I just watched on TV. A kid (the family was obviously very religious and all the kids were members of their local church choir) was asked "what's so good about christmas?" "I like it because Jesus was born then. It celebrates his birthday". Not that I have anything against the kid, since he's just saying what he has learned, but December 24th is in no way linked directly to Jesus's birthday. Coincidentally, the pagan tradition of Yule (christmas) has begun around that day of the year for thousands of years. The '24th' is a rather new invention by the catholic church hundreds of years after Jesus's death.
  14. Because I mentioned your statement was ridiculous? "I believe you can only work for minimum wage as a HS graduate" I have a master's degree, but I know at least 2 people, my friends, who only have a HS and make about $2-$4k a month. Do you even know what the minimum wage is in USA? About $5 bucks an hour, if you work 10 hour shifts, about $1k a month. You'll end up there if you know barely how to read and haven't even set your foot in a school. That's not even worth replying to. You need to seriously spot a reflection in the mirror and see who's the joke. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Of course they 'can', some surely do. Anything 'can' happen, that's quite a broad assumption. Statistics also say 30,000 americans are injured each year by a toilet, that *can* happen as well. You just fail to see employers do not only look at your 'master' or 'doctorate' when considering candidates, personality, behavior (or even looks) can play a big part. I've had first hand experience, I wonder if you have.
  15. I have yet to try this game so I can only give an opinionated review: Check it out. I heard it is a decent RPG though, like some Pokemon games are. Many people expect the name bears childish promotion, but actually some of the games are fun to play. I beg to differ. Tip.it is also my grandmother and mother-in-law.
  16. They actually just heal 13 or so health. I remember eating one on my PK character in RSC years ago (obviously ignorant of the fact they'd become valuable later) when I was on low HP. Urban legend, also, there is no such thing in the item database. Many people have checked it with a hex editor and proven false years ago. Can't remember if Andrew himself disputed it. The rarest items are definitely: Disc of return and Half-full jug of wine. Only maybe a few % of the RS population in 2001 kept those items (mostly on accident or forgot about their old accounts), there were only a few thousand/ten thousands of players back then. Compare to millions of active accounts now. The amount of players with those items compared to those who don't have them is astronomically low. Tens/hundreds of times rarer than party hats.
  17. I am so doing that when I get older. I'm getting out an atlas right now and planning!! :P Let me say I'm truly jealous of that guy, in a positive way. He has wealth nobody can take from him, and something most people wont achieve in their lives. It's invaluable and he appreciates it. That made me think, I seriously should visit more places while I'm still alive. Your travel plan is a nice example of the fact that you don't need to be a billionaire to be that guy. :) (Though the cost will be almost double because of hotels/motels) Traveling will open the eyes and soul of even the most ignorant person. Maybe people should realise their lives aren't confined in a predestined set of 'routines' and you can do pretty much anything you want to as long as your financial position is good. Like that guy did, and he's not even rich.
  18. You're right about that one, I was referring more to jobs like business where personality can also play a big role. Some jobs like a chirugeon may require 10+ years of work experience in the field and possibly a doctorate. But I was talking about the time immediately after you graduate.
  19. Uhm...what? Words of ignorance (as well as 'doctorates earn more'). In todays world a doctorate isn't even necessary, it will just take you 3 more years (or even more) to graduate and people with a master's degree will earn more by then. But that one was ridiculous though.
  20. It's as if his long-lost son is running towards him for a hug after years of being lost. ..Sorry, but I don't know too much about cricket. I'd say Australia will win because they have a better team.
  21. Go with the second one. :) It's shorter and more to the point. You are disgusting. Almost as disgusting as this thread. I would like to join your society.
  22. Spinning leek, enough said. (No, this isn't spam). Somebody will probably get what I mean.
  23. DO you mean never go to Scotland? those would be kilts  Dresses do not have pleats, kilts do, there's a difference :-w Yes, there is a massive difference between a skirt and a skirt...I mean kilt! Actually there is. For each Family Name there is a kilt. There can be 3 variations on it, like a hunting kilt. Go read up on history of kilts then come back. *Please*. I felt compelled to do that, you failed to see sarcasm in probably every thread you've posted to. You may get a kick out of it, or maybe you're a bot, but turn it on please.
  24. I trade them, give 1 gp, accept, and repeat, until they get * off and leave. They didn't specify an amount of money, and if they say "more", they're simply greedy and don't deserve anything. Works.
