How to play Gamecube on you're monitor.
BlueLancer replied to ndn3master's topic in Tech and Computers
Lik-sang used to sell convertor boxes for $50 that you could use to get VGA quality graphics on a PC monitor for Gamecube, not so sure now since their website is down after being sued by Sony :-k You can also try connecting it to your graphics card, and use the windows channel tuner to play games on the monitor. This has worked on my friend's ATI card, I haven't tested it personally on a laptop. You're right, this is quite technical rather than a general discussion about the console. -
If you have motivation and real plans, yeah, you can drop out of school. If you just decide to drop out 'for the heck of it' to lazy around and eventually find out you have no money, that's a big no-no. Yeah, Bill Gates dropped out, yeah, Einstein hated his math teacher and failed his classes (and look at what he became). But they're probably exceptions, though there are hundreds of thousands of other unknown people that dropped out as well and are well off (such as my fathers friend who has less education than me, he owns 4 shops in a shoe franchise and makes more money than I do). Still, for each 10 succesful 'dropouts', there are 90 who will most likely fail due to a lack of planning. No, you don't necessarily need education to make money. But most people don't know how to go on about their lives without an education and an ordinary job. And if you don't either know how to make money or don't want to get an education for a job, you could be screwed.

DK3 wasn't very professional anyway, they've been shut down a long time ago. http://www.dk3.com/

Take this as a suggestion, not an insult.. But in the year 2006, you shouldn't be using a 56k modem 'especially' for online gaming. :) That's very likely the only reason you're getting "connection losts" if your internet otherwise works fine. If you couldn't log in at all, it could be a different problem. Now that you mention that, I would say it's a good idea to get 'at least' a 1mb+ cable modem, though a 256k will do o.k. if you just browse around and play RS.

Doom (the game) soundtrack. Where can i get it?
BlueLancer replied to kelem_ryu's topic in Off-Topic
Hi, You have several options: 1. Buy it online, it's available at quite a few stores like http://www.soundtrack.net/soundtracks/database/?id=4139 2. You know.. But not recommended. 3. There's also the MIDI version of the soundtrack which I can upload on request because I've had it for some time :) -
Has anyone met someone on TIF that they know IRL?
BlueLancer replied to Hobgoblin11's topic in Off-Topic
From a "standard safety" viewpoint, it's probably true that you shouldn't give your location to any 'stranger' online, but people should also think about what you just said. I mean.. Does somebody have enough motivation and money to hire 3 armed hitmen to abduct you in the middle of the night when you're just a normal person age 16-20 (not sure how old you are, that's just a guess) and have no special information or knowledge And if suspicious people would approach you online and obviously just try to find out where you live, you could always mislead them to an empty storage building :P -
Some people are proud of their identity. Why deny them that? I'm proud of being Jewish, and I like being around Jewish culture. Pretending other identities don't exist and that we are all the same doesn't seem like the best solution to me... Ah, but that's the difference between culture and race. Culture you can choose, but race you can't. Race can lead to cultural identity. In fact, I'm sure that it often does. But you have to be careful about that: In my dorm, we were having a holiday party, and the guy who was leading it is Jamaican. He asked if anyone knew anyone knew about any of the various holidays going on, and if they wanted to share a little bit about Chanuka, or Kwanza, or Christmas, etc :D One of the other students said, "Heh, I think you're the only one who can tell us about Kwanza." Because he's a good-natured guy, he just laughed and explained that he was Jamaican - even though he is black, he doesn't celebrate Kwanza, which is a largely cultural holiday of African-Americans. Reminds me of the Maddox april fools page where he depicts the stereotypical semi-racist teenager, seeing a black guy on a sidewalk and asks him if he will play jazz at his birthday party. People make too many assumptions :)

I wonder if anybody here has heard or is already a user of FON. Check it out at http://en.fon.com/ I'm wondering, what's their ultimate long term business plan? Here comes the tricky part... They will send a wireless WiFi router to anywhere in the world, free of charge in order to enlarge their community. I saw this featured in at least two magazines. Well, I went ahead and tried it, and surprise, the router actually arrived to my home yesterday via TNT courier. It's quite useful since I have a laptop. So how does it work? Well, supposedly, you offer free WLAN connection to people living near to you, and in exchange, you get to use free WLAN anywhere in the world with FON connection. It would be great to hear if anybody has been using this. And yes, you can order it for $0 and re-sell it to some poor soul. :P Even if the site says something like $30, it's a special promotion free of charge.

I don't take any offense nor did I think I was belittling you. I was saying that when it comes to history, there's no "opinions" or "changing minds", there's only "what happened". You can't have an opinion such as 'I don't think the american civil war happened' or 'I'm sure the mexicans conquered america in the 1800's' because it didn't happen and there is no proof to show that, just like there is no proof in the Bible or anywhere else that christmas is in any way related to Jesus. If you refuse to believe christmas is not actually an original christian celebration (given the fact Jesus himself even refused to celebrate birthdays!), then I'm deeply sorry. The Bible mentions nothing about it either, so you're only left with real sources. And if you refuse to believe real sources as well, I'm even more sorry for you. But eventually, if you are working towards a higher education, you will need to refer to real evidence and sources, just as in a debate.

All of those 4 have been tried, and racism still exists. The only perfect way is to give children strong anti-racist messages by especially their own parents, not teachers, since age 1, not when they're already 14 years old. And of course, if you have a bit of brain yourself, you'll see how pointless and dumb racism is. There can be no justification for it.

I take offence to that, personally I have faith in God and refuse to believe anything you say. Also who said we were debating? That would be implying im interested in what you have to say. What makes you think the rest of the users are interested in your, rather close minded thoughts then? If you don't want a debate, I suggest you walk out of the door and go to some other forum. This is not a 'blog' where you dump your ideas and leave. Make a blog if you think anybody is interested in your thoughts and block all comments if you wish. See how many readers you will have. I may also tell you other random facts on other threads, such as the Earth indeed being round and not having corners unlike the Bible suggests, but after all, you have free will, you can refuse to believe me. Not my problem.

But isn't that like a "legitimate lie"? Telling the child that as long as he shuts up and doesn't behave bad, Santa Claus exists and will bring him candy. As pointed above, it's doubtful that in remote areas of Europe for example, any populations mentioned as 'christian' truly remained 'christian' after missionaries and crusaders visited their countries (or even killed the local folk in skirmishes). I don't know of many examples but I do know that at least in Scandinavia most people have retained a large amount of pagan rituals forbidden by the church even up to the early 20th century. And in nordic countries people *still* burn midsummer solstice logs every year which I have also witnessed. That brings up the question, were those people "christian" or not, just because they didn't obey the authority of the church? Is the church even an authority on these issues really, since especially many historic local churches were just lead by ordinary priests who had been from the upper social class or merchants, farmers, etc?
-
And where in the Bible does it say the word 'christmas' or anything related to it, other than the pagan tradition of cutting logs and decorating them (and Jeremiah is talking about the cutting of logs in the context of worshipping idols)? Did you even know that Jesus did not even celebrate his own birthday nor the apostles'? Then there is the book of Revelations, chapter 12, which talks about "dragons and serpents" on the birth of Jesus, which is obviously literature, not historical fact. Nor do people to my knowledge in these days associate dragons or serpents with christmas. I have studied christianity, islam, judaism and a lot of other religions (that you probably know theologically nothing about), and I'm not a christian. Nor am I a member of any other religion. Don't make assumptions, in fact, I'd want to hear about your religious research. And seriously, if you prefer a 2,000 year old book over real modern day research, you wont be taken seriously in any debate. Let me say that in a nice fashion before some more radical members say it harshly.

Wow, as if those replies were invicible (though I was tired) Good catch Vmser. Try this, it can work even if you don't have your Windows installation disk: Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Add/Remove Windows components -> Accessories & Utilities (Accessories), and add Paint. Hopefully that one works. 8-)
-
Sorry, but you don't have the right to call 'christmas' a "christian" holiday either. As kindly posted by BlueTear, it's called that only in the english language. Slavic languages for example don't even associate the word "christ" with christmas. What would you like to be quoted then? If you want me to, I can verify those facts for you and cite the sources. Then, in return, as a part of a proper debate, you will hand me over YOUR evidence about christmas being an originally "christian" tradition, because it's not; It's a pagan one.

Start -> Run -> Write mspaint -> Problem solved 8-) If that doesn't work, which I doubt, your MS paint is 'really' missing.

I agree with darkrick, it's also good to see how a person really looks like, not a photoshopped version of her with 10 hours of makeup & masking work behind. There's only so much of an illusion you can believe...
-
I'm not "once again" insulting christianity (provide an earlier example), I'm saying don't try to pull it off as "Jesus's birthday" because that's not what it originally was. In other words, change the story to gain converts. Let the hindus worship their own gods, just make it so that they believe Brahma was actually created by Jesus and the Holy Spirit and coincidentally place his 'birthday' on December 20-25th.
-
Read about the origins of christmas instead of making assumptions and guesses. Christmas is originally a pagan festival. Also, read about the history of Christmas. Seems very convenient to change it from spring to winter to comply with the cultural challenges within the northern parts of the roman empire and people who refused to give up their old beliefs.

I've had the same problem with the Opera browser, though even less frequently than 1 in 50 videos so that's not a big problem. IE, though less secure (and uses the same flash platform) doesn't have these problems though. I still prefer Opera :)

Good point, without school, we wouldnt have a tip.it so you just shut your trap about school sucking. What does tip.it existing and the education level of the site admins have to do with them running the site? ... Not really, but it depends on the school a lot. Where I was educated the classroom had usually people from very different backgrounds, and people were generally nice to each other.

Your post is so ridiculous I'm actually laughing for real after reading that part. I may not be the only one. 1. You have a *huge* ego. Keep on feeding it by thinking "God has chosen you". 2. You can't convince ANYONE to join a religion on an internet message board with simple passages from the Bible. I have read the Bible, Qur'an, Torah (and other "holy" scriptures), and I can guarantee you can't torture me into 'accepting' any of those religions. Why don't you pick up the Bible and read Ezekiel 9:5 (9, chapter 5) and explain me how he can order the exclusive killing of old people, women and children, and still acted "justly"? What were those people doing wrong that "God" ordered to kill them all, especially old people and children? Do please come back with something more than "He's God, he can do anything". That one's been used a few hundred times too much on this forum.

No...

Didn't see anything suspicious, but I checked the non-regular [Caution: Executable File]s on LIutilities and they seem to be processes running off Ati, etc. :?, with a risk level of 0. The only obviously wrong thing is the start page, though it seems like a legitimate portal with information (maybe you inserted it yourself). Really weird.

Runescape is 100% dependent on CPU usage and has been since RSC. There's not much you can do about it (and it's slightly annoying if your cooler fan makes excessive noise at high CPU usage percentages)
