  1. Unrational fear can be removed. I don't really fear anything, like a "God" punishing me for not worshipping him, and never have. As a kid you'll probably buy into the stuff that "you'll burn in hell if you do this and that" because you don't question people older than you. Look at other religions though, which combined have more followers than christianity. Most of them don't "fear" God, they "respect" it/them. Still I think it's just a cultural remain from ages ago even in their countries.
  2. I don't agree with that though. Just 'going with the flow' and looking like a carbon copy of the next guy is even more dull than wearing 'genre-specific clothes'. There's no problem with looking individual, try going to a school that requires uniforms for students? I've never experienced that but I can imagine how boring it is.
  3. I, and probably most other people here, learned to read far before going to school, age 4-6. You don't need to go to school for that (necessarily). Apparently you guys didn't read his post fully, it has some good points. Stop fitting in a social cliche just because "you think it's cool". If you have glasses, does that automatically mean you should join the chess club? If you listen to certain bands, should you start cutting yourself and wearing funky clothes just to 'fit in a group'? Grow up and be yourselves, instead of the pathetic example in the post who squeeze in the "cool kids" dinner table and don't even have room to eat, but just be there 'for the sake of it'.
  4. While I'm not sure of God's 'context specific' killings you're talking about, the Bible does contain straight-out kill orders to people who work on sundays for example (that's just one example) It also contains some pretty cruel instructions for priests.
  5. -Luke 6:37 I'm such a bad person... Anyways, a7xpure, why do you even insist on using MySpace? If you want to be original, don't go along with "every person and their dog" in your school, frankly if the people at your school are that immature, you may just as well take down your site. ...While I don't agree with most stereotypes, you shouldn't wonder why they were screaming 'emo' from the top of their lungs. Still, they're not your friends if they do that.
  6. While I agree with the rest of your post, I had to comment that. While nobody should attack other people's beliefs and belittle them, in a debate, you *should* ask others why they believe what they believe. Because ultimately, no religion has an absolute majority of followers. Which means most people have totally different, say religious, views. Since nobody can be wrong or right, it's right to ask those people "why". For that logical reason I also stay away from organised religion and just acknowledge any one of them could theoretically be "right", or maybe none of them is. And before you think I'm biased, I was actually baptised and grew up in a semi-religious childhood.
  7. If you think about it, the point of all arguments is to present evidence and make the other party agree with you. Ultimately, this means if everybody was rational, everybody would agree with everything in the end. But that will never happen because some people like to cling onto their views (racism, intolerance, etc) If you enter a debate, you must acknowledge if your beliefs aren't rational, they may be wrong and somebody may prove you wrong. (Not necessarily talking about religion or politics, but about anything) I rarely have to admit to having false beliefs. Arrogant? No. I just don't go around shouting stupid stuff like "evolution is proven to be false", "lol bomb iraq with nukez" or "there is no spoon". I observe facts and if they contradict with my view, I'm willing to change my opinion, even dramatically. You should too.
  8. what he said, even i know what hannukkah is happy hannukkah to all that celebrate it (and good will to those that don't) =D> Thanks everybody! Anyway, Here it goes. A simple Jewish History. There were a group of people who lived in the Middle East. A prophet named Abraham came and got them. He said that God called them the chosen ones. He led them to Canaan. There, there was a great famine. Moses, led them to Egypt. There, they became slaves for the pharaoh. Moses then rescued all the Israelites (The people), and led them across the Red Sea, what you hear of when you hear Moses Parted the Red Sea. Anyway.. Then the Israelites wandered back and I believe it was Moses went to go and get the 10 Commandments while the rest of the Israelites worshiped a golden calf and were forced by god to wander the desert for 40 days. Anyway, Hanukkah - Jews were in a temple (I think it was while they were in Egypt/Maybe Jerusalem) and I think for some reason they were trapped in there. So they were trapped in there with a candle and enough oil to burn for 1 day. But it burned for 8 days! It's a miracle! (YES, HANUKKAH IS ONE OF THE MOST MINOR HOLIDAYS OF THE JEWISH CALENDAR.) -That was written by me, I don't know much about Judaism, the history at least, so correct me when you find parts that are wrong or out of order. I do know how to read Hebrew and I can recite the Torah Service! \ Haha, great story. 8-) I can't tell you if anything's accurate or not, but sounded entertaining. Didn't know that hanukkah is a minor holiday though. What other holidays do jews celebrate usually? Edit- Sorry, thought you said "candie". I'm a bit tired...
  9. Sorry for the geekish posts...And are you sure the command xsd:integer / java.math.BigInteger can work outside of XML websites, etc. for binding?
  10. Easy. :) 1. Make backups of your important files on a CD, a 4.7gb one (or multiple copies) will do. 2. Insert the Windows installation CD, then reboot the computer. 3. It will ask if you want to boot from CD, press any key to start. 4. Upon trying to re-install, it will say you already have a copy of Windows. When it asks do you want to format, format in the NTFS file system, not the outdated FAT32. 5. After the format, install Windows which takes about 40 minutes or less. Message here for more possible questions.
  11. ..I thought you literally mean other forums.. I've been modding 2 forums, the IGN forums and also flashback.info (relatively unknown but has tons of users, usually always 1000+ online). On tip.it I just browse the active sections usually, like off topic and general (though I'm not up to date on what happens in RS these days :P),and music+movies.
  12. Something to do with the Java script thingamabob... :-s :-k Yep, it's the long integer also used in java that stores big numbers, like GP in runescape ("coincidentally", the long integer data limit is 2,147,383,648 bytes). If we were to be really nerdy though, RS would be destroyed if they tried using a higher integer than 64 bits (which is impossible in java), and the maximum GP would be over a septillion, (9,223,372,036,854,775,808). If somebody gets that amount of gold, runescape is doomed. It can *not* be stored accurately, it would have to be rounded up or down which means the person would lose a bit of cash. Not sure if he cares, with that level of wealth though,
  13. Nobody can "reassure" you God does or doensn't do this or that, they just have beliefs. The christian belief is that their God gave everybody free will, and apparently, through all of history, humans have exploited it for their own personal gain, blood and wars. It doesn't say in the Bible he wants humans to kill each other, but he does act as a legal hitman and orders his minions to kill and wipe out entire nations, and specifically orders the killing of elderly people, women and children in certain passages of the Bible (see Ezekiel 9:5 for example). i asked for a perspective  But this is pointless because I understand you're just looking for opinions. There are some christians here like Astralinre (should still be!), wait until they reply.
  14. Old, but I laugh at the person (probably some random kid) who accidently figured this out by inserting random stuff in a coke bottle and the whole living room floor started flooding with black liquid... Hopefully his parents weren't around.
  15. With personal experience, I'd actually have to slightly disagree. I used a low-RAM computer for a long time years ago, and I can tell you that any program that hogged even a part of the RAM for a slight time period did slow down the machine a *lot*, such as logging in to runescape (which mostly uses CPU); I could say goodbye to trying to browse emails or forums after that without a reboot. But as said, search your computer for a file called 'hosts' (no file extension, open with notepad to modify) and add URL's there. :)
  16. Hi 8-) , I have some spare time so I'll check it for you: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES (cpbrxpie Control) Your system is exceptionally clean (and you have a lot of poker and other games!) but I would pay attention to those 2. They are not natural file directories or registry keys, and the second one is adware that can potentially track your computer usage. The first one could be legitimate though, Lexmark products use often file directories starting with LEX (though you may want to make an adware scan to be sure). The second one I would pay more attention to. According to several online databases, it's not particularly dangerous, but it's still a file that installs on your computer without your knowledge from the "akamai.net" advertisement agency (similar to tribalfusion, google adwords, etc)

  18. I doubt anybody is this desperate for attention on a moderate-size message board, I don't think it's fake. Good for him if he's not sick anymore..! 8-)
  19. Christianity doesn't have a unique God either. It is shared by all 3 abrahamic religions, just in different names.
  20. Have fun trying to tax hundreds of independent auction sites that have their servers in tax-havens where no international authority has any business. You can not enforce efficient online taxation for imaginary items such as game currency. If a big site were shut down for not paying the tax to an american tax collecting agency, five new ones would pop up to fill the market gap and provide tax-free trading. Exactly. The article says online currency is becoming a "big business with 7-9 billion dollars" fluctuating annually. What about the hundreds of billions that fluctuate annually in other online auctions and eBay sales like cars, laptops, machinery, etc? Why not tax those? Because it is not effective and a company would never enforce it in fear of losing business to an independent site.
  21. Which God? There are thousands...
  22. ...are you kidding me? Umm, I am not kidding you. There are over 6 billion people in the world, so about ~0.25% are jews.. Compared to religions like islam, christianity, hinduism (which all have 900 million or more followers) judaism is a very small religion despite what you may think of it personally. Therefore it's at least slightly possible somebody may not have heard about it. Do many western people know about Sikhism even though it has more followers than Judaism? (I do, and some of my friends do, but I know a lot of people don't)
  23. Haha, even though Judaism is a pretty minor religion, I'm very surprised you could've lived for this long without ever hearing about it. Do you know what Ramadan or Vesak are? Anyways, happy Hanukkah to you runescapeloser22 8-) (and everybody else celebrating Hanukkah)
  24. Because someone bumped up a topic that was almost two months old. Come on.. His sharp brains surely can't melt in that time period? I'd persuade him into answering more, but he defiantly changed his title.
