  1. I wonder how many of those posting here under 13 actually asked their parents... Pesky rulebreakers :P On the other hand, some users here post their age as '15' and were members of tip.it over 3 years ago. That means they "lied" too when they signed up since the rule applied even back then.
  2. Exactly. People don't come here depressed looking for the fountain of wisdom and the meaning of life. Most people come here to read something interesting. In many cases it can mean a good argument. What makes it entertaining is that some people may have views that are completely outrageous in the modern world (like supporting slavery or killing off disabled people, has been debated by certain users), and you see them writing 20 paragraphs about how it's ok. That is if they don't get banned...
  3. Are you sure your computer even has a graphics card? This is *very* important for any games (except runescape which runs on CPU) half-decent, which includes Diablo II. And indeed not all computers have a graphics card when you buy it, you may need to purchase a separate one. ATI and Nvidia produce the best ones which cost from $100 to $500. Just how important is it? Let's say, the difference between playing a game with a graphics card as opposed to playing it without a graphics card could be 100fps (frames per second), or even more. Some games wont run without it. If you're sure you have a gfx card (very likely) go to the manufacturer's website and download their latest driver. 8-)
  4. Since you seem to have a genuine problem, here's some info. If you are 100% sure it was you who put that password there, you may try to brute force it open in which case it's totally legal. It may take several hours/nights depending on the length of the PW.
  5. Why'd you create a separate tip.it account to ask this?
  6. How do you know for sure they are ghosts? Currently there has been no evidence shown for the existence of ghosts and prizes of over $1 million are being offered to anybody who has the slightest proof. Nobody has been able to yet show any kind of proof. It would be interesting to hear from you so I can understand your view too. :)
  7. I think staring in them would be a bit more fun. : You are both extremely naughty! :D Being an editor for animal planet's magazine could be fun actually 8-) Whatever floats deloria's boat...
  8. Nothing baffling about it. Solve the puzzles and try to win 8-) I just knew the prizes would be extraordinary... It's definitely worth spending time on. You don't just -go to the space-, you also get $50k cash, a laptop and other stuff. Not bad. Though the space experience is much more valuable in both terms of personal exp. and cash value.
  9. It could be anything from Microsoft just releasing another product to wild rumors that Bill Gates is starting a huge alternate-reality game with rewarding $1 billion to the brightest person as his objective (Well, Bill Gates *is* making some kind of announcement today in Las Vegas at the Bellagio hotel, but I doubt it's that) The decipher code was posted in another image which some people recieved via mail; it contains an USB thumb with a video file and an image. It was fairly simple to crack. It seems the game is just 'starting' today, and there will be probably some nice prizes for completing it, the game could take months to 'finish' and include real-life scavenger hunting. May be a huge thing or just an average viral marketing campaign. Folks at other forums also figured out the PIN number when calling the phone number when cracking one code, you just run it from right to left (35818) so it has 5 digits instead of 4.
  10. That isn't really a good argument. You can get a lot of forum experience on other forums before joining here. Generally you can tell the people who are experienced by how they act. Intarweb has acted in the way that makes me think he has a lot of forum experience. No crappy new topics, easy to read posts, and logical arguments. Plus I have a theory that he isn't someone knew to this forum at all. The sad thing is, that kind of hybrid, knowledge-applying "wise newbies who have used other forums" don't virtually exist on tip.it. Real smart users here are 1:500, (fortunately a lot of them do post on off topic). Even the example you mentioned doesn't apply for certain reasons which you can possibly figure out. Look at the recent posts by new users. That's most likely going to be the trend even in the future.
  11. The most entertaining posts are those made by people making assumptions similar in logic and quality to 1+1=3. Sadly they usually leave the forums for good after a while, but it's good fun reading their angry replies.
  12. "Dr Strangelove or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb" (google it, it's really the name of the movie) That movie is confusing  It's very old, I have a DVD copy for some reason...
  13. If you want to get an A make sure you spell 'asteroid' correctly 8-)
  14. Joke posts 8-) http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=379625
  15. oooh aren't we mature... Ripping on people for playing poke'mon... get a sense of humour. Go wear a pokemon shirt to school... then we'll see who else will rip on you  I don't know about you, but my friends would probably find great humor value in it. 8-) Maybe I should wear one next time I go to the gym...
  16. Scrolling this thread up and down on the last page is relaxing.. 8-)
  17. I think it's that Pokemon MMORPG in the traditional Red/Blue chipset. I tried it out just for the heck of it. It's clumsy, it took about 20 seconds to move 1 step, and I encountered a grand total of 0 battles in 30 mins. I beat the first gym leader with no previous XP points. Could be fun as a RPG, but not unless they make it more interesting...
  18. How is he going to do any of those if the last friend he had was when he was 9 :? Did you even read his post...
  19. Somebody reported this post, but in the recent light of things I believe this thread can go on since the program is not directly prohibited by Jagex Ltd, it's use is not encouraged though.
  20. Like said above: If it doesn't have sugar, it has aspartame. It's nothing new, it's common knowledge. Not a reason to cut down on sodas though. I don't drink them simply because water and other drinks are better :P But yeah I'm aware of the new Coke Zero (which literally has 0 calories per serving), but compared to real coke, it just tasted weird. And real coke has lots of sugar.
  21. You may want to contact the Red Cross or Mercy Corps for further information. They've been online since 1999 and have hundreds of thousands of daily visitors. Why would they have a reason to lie when any activist could've just called the Red Cross by now and asked if they got donations from the site?
  22. That's more of a programming term. I think he's trying to fabricate a = with a line through it, as one would write in other circumstances like mathematics. != is also not the same for every language, since some use <>. C++
  23. Last weekend I went to sleep at 10:30AM and woke up at 21:00PM. But it's nothing scary, just funny waking up and it's pitch dark 8-)
  24. That stuck out from the post. Elsewhere in the world people live on less than $1 a day. Ever wondered how those countries with a GDP of less than $500 survive? Simple, the prices are lower. In a poor country $0.50 will get you a half a kilogram of rice. $5 is a lot in some countries, that's why they measure the aid in staples of food (mostly rice). A packet of nuts costs so much in the UK because there is demand for them and people are willing and capable to pay it. Why does a packet of nuts cost 10% of the English price in a poor country? Because there is still demand, but less capability of paying high prices. They will still turn a profit.
  25. $400-$800 a month, near $1k you get a nice apartment especially if you live alone. With $400-500 you still have a lot of space and a nice home even if living with a roommate. :) And you can also consider hotels/motels, with rooms from $20-$70 a night or two nights (once you start earning money). They, most of them, have services like restaurants and WLAN access and you get to sleep there. Good luck with your gaming programmer/artist job if you get one 8-)
