The war in iraq, What do you think we should do?
BlueLancer replied to splatmster24's topic in Off-Topic
There's no proof ETA was behind the last airport attack, all they have is a supposed phone call. And they do have a realistic political agenda; The basques are in the middle of a country with which they don't have much in common: Different culture, different language, different manners... They are almost in the same situation as the Irish compared to the English, they do deserve independence. (Though the ETA does use dubious means to create public awareness and like you said, enough so to earn them the status of a terrorist organisation in the EU) -
Murdering somebody isn't "evil" by nature, it's percieved as such because people fear repercussions. If a killer kills someone, 10 other angry people who don't like killing innocent travelers for their cash will murder the killer to reduce the chance of falling to his victim themselves, as they all know they're not willing to kill each other, but the killer is. Why isn't laughing at somebody's expense inherently evil? It doesn't have serious repercussions. At most, to an extremely sensitive person, it may cause minor psychological pain. Still, it's not permanent. Remember, if you're European or have roots there, likely your ancestors enjoyed watching people getting slaughtered by wild animals on arenas for entertainment, and they thought it's normal just like we think ice hockey or football is normal. Morals and thoughts do change. Why is it, in the year 2007, ok to kill that creature just because it was "annoying" you, yet killing, say, a dog could get you a prison sentence for animal abuse? Because there are so many of them? They're useless? Hypocrisy... People choose morals that fit their situation the best. Cut off electricity, supermarkets and clothing stores from the masses and see their REAL morals when they fight each other to survive.

You missed my point. There would be no such thing as a "US soldier" if the inhabitants of the early states didn't rebel against their commander in chief, the queen. USA would still be just a part of Great Britain. Or, else you could argue that the people who founded the USA were not patriotic. Basically, they were a band of rebel factions that went on to form a state with aid from some other european nations. -
I don't find those books "kiddy" or dumb, like most people online seem to. From a neutral view, I'm not a huge fan of fantasy, as literature they're pretty entertaining and fun to read..

Most people come here when they're bored, have nothing better to do or just kill time in a library, airport, school etc... (Or those who still play RS, while playing... To escape the boredom of playing the game, irony...)
-
When the earlier form of scapeboard was up, runetipit.board.dk3.com, in about 2002, RS was down for a while, it was Sunday evening and I had nothing to do... I posted 40 spams repeatedly like a few other people, on a useless thread... (By holding down the submit button, but obviously PhpBB technology has improved in 5 years and now includes flood control)

Yeah, I think that was pathetic. It, like google, should have absolutely no obligations to release search histories retrieved from all chinese users to the government (they will very likely put people searching for 'dubious' terms on security risk lists, label them, or even make threats).

Let's not insult the queen, we must be patriotic. She could get mad...! And raise the taxes even higher... -
NES on Ebay with every game ever made (670 games!)
BlueLancer replied to Nadril's topic in Off-Topic
Yeah, imagine having all that stuff in front of you, live, when you were 5 years old, and you thought having 2 controllers and 10 games for NES was awesome. At that age it would distort and blur your view/sense of reality so bad  -
Use one of the existing threads for this. And, if you want to know the hypothetical amount of maximum posts this thread could get, given everybody posts once, look it up in the index. About 145,000 posts.

I don't get it. A discussion about search engines isn't that bad, why start the flaming over a ridiculous issue? Or do you prefer threads about american idol, personal issues and "how to take over the world" better? (Those all are on the first page) Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned AltaVista.com. I used it back in 1999-2000 during the dotcom craze, google wasn't really that popular back then. ...Google does, today, easily return the most comprehensive search results to the user, IMO msn, yahoo and other search engines are pretty obsolete unless you're used to them/use advanced/deep search options often.

Italian football league shuts down indefiniately
BlueLancer replied to Necromagus's topic in Off-Topic
... Look at how things were there in the days of the Empire, probably after a very tough race or gladiatorial game, some people lost big wagers in an unlikely event of loss by the superior opponent, and lots of urban guards/legionaires died trying to stop the riots, possibly tens/hundreds. Not that it's a good thing, the policeman was innocent after all, but it's weird they're shutting down the whole league. I wonder how he died.. But still, that's sad and pathetic. It has nothing to do with sports anymore. Being ready to kill somebody is no longer the spirit of the game/watching the game, it's criminal activity. -
How do YOU feel Christians/other religions are treated?

Too bad God doesn't pay the bills if the father, the only working person of the family, rather dies after being kidnapped by a terrorist than temporarily lie. Everybody is allowed to have as much faith in anything as they want. Still, trusting your family to 'God' is naivety. God will not look after some children who starve to death on a daily basis, neither will he specificly help a family living in a first world country just because their living standard dropped a little. That wasn't a belief by the way, just looking at death statistics for starvation/thirst of children. Mustn't be important for God. -
STOP GENOCIDE IN SUDAN AND UGANDA!New Video!!
BlueLancer replied to Keep_It_Real's topic in Off-Topic
The thread is ok; But you sent the PM to quite a lot of people which kind of constitutes as spam (despite you having no malicious intent)... The thread itself generates some awareness of the issue for the readers, so I think there's no need to send out multiple private messages 8-) -
"Fair" doesn't exist in real life. "Fair" is something in kindergarden when everybody gets an equal slice of the cake to prevent whining. In real life, some people are already born with a whole cake while others only have the cherry so to speak. Why isn't everybody a musical genius, a master football player or a millionaire? Because, life isn't "fair".

..No excercise (at 200 reps a day) will help you get muscle mass. Just a note, in case you just build endurance.

My worst experience with too realistic dreams (probably others had this problem too.. Physical reactions to dreams) is dreaming about being in this weird, dimly lit place, a bloody floor, called 'Fight Club', there were suspicious people around me and I was punching a punching (boxing) bag hanging from the ceiling. I woke up with immense pain because I also punched the wall next to my bed in real life. Maybe lucid dreams, in an environment with only soft objects, could be fun 8-) Interesting how easily some people seem to achieve that state of mind while sleeping. Must be fun, I've known about this for years but may just as well give it a try.

That's one of the craziest cartoons I've ever watched. It makes so little sense it's funny just because.

Whoever knew enough to buy put options for companies that occupied large parts of the world trade center, and United and American Airlines, knew enough to prevent the 9/11 terrorist attacks. http://911research.wtc7.net/sept11/stockputs.html And you believe that site? And not all major companies benefited from the WTC collapses. Marsh USA, AON, Morgan Stanley (practically owned the South Tower), and Salomon Smith Barney for example, did not benefit from the loss of many employees and many important files both in paper and on computers. And then there's all sorts of other files lost, can you imagine the scale of damage caused by that sort of loss? Everyone from bankers to brokers would be in trouble. Yes, lots of info is duplicated elsewhere, but alot isn't at the same time. I don't believe any particular website, I believe what I can see on the files of NYSE, NASDAQ, etc. Why, after years of fairly stable trading of those stocks, suddenly the trading of certain stocks (that would go down like a falling comet, and rise again in price) multiplied by even 300x in a matter of 1 day? Random? Not. Conspiracy or not, I don't really care. I just care that hundreds of people made astronomical profits off the forehand knowledge of the terrorist attack. They considered the profit more valuable than ratting out to CIA/FBI and exposing it and saving human lives.

I completely agree. Most RS quests are made with a "scaredy-cat" type of player in mind. Let's compare it to, say Diablo II, which was released ages ago. Some of the quests it contains, being similar to RS, are difficult and if you're not high enough level, you'll get slaughtered. RS shouldn't be a copycat, but it should have real challenges as well, instead of the "rescue the poor kitten by killing the evil boss dog of doom level 65, no food, strategies or potions necessary". By real challenge, I mean the few quests in RS that can take hours to complete and have very dangerous boss monsters. For example, having to defeat a boss that can shift attack modes and you'd have to adjust your armor in turn (arrow protective, magic resistance etc.) would be a true challenge. Fortunately a few quests, from what I've read, do fill the need for very difficult puzzles, kids with a short attention span wont complete those quests even with walkthroughs if they don't put their brain into it.

Especially at his age 8-)

?! But anyways... You made the right decision. 8-) Really, online stuff and forums aren't important compared to living your real life at your age.

Actually.. It's completely the opposite :P Generally, weighlifters and physical workers have more white muscle fiber, and marathon runner, bikers, etc. have lots of red muscle fiber. And yes, your muscle and bone growth, just like your physical height, hair color, etc. is defined and limited by your genes. Most people can never achieve the muscle mass Arnold or professional bodybuilders have, even with steroids. Defender: The best site & forum for bodybuilding: http://bodybuilding.com/fun/index.html

I must point out DaN: You're being really ignorant if you instantly take everything on the internet as a "run of the mill bogus websites anybody can make". Countless people cited their sources, such as the british medical journal which you can check yourself if you doubt it. Researches on .gov sites are not 'hoaxes'. They cannot be. .Edu ones are very reliable too, so what's the problem? Earlier, I thought you're a very skeptical person, and that's not a bad thing. Now you're just showing ignorance. You take everybody who argues for this thing as a "stoner", when probably most of the people here haven't even tried drugs (including myself). It seems you're the one brainwashed, not the people posting on this thread. That's not a flame, that's just an observation since you refuse to believe sources posted on the thread= Discussion obsolete.

How do YOU feel Christians/other religions are treated?
BlueLancer replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Off-Topic
I must ask again, what makes christianity so exclusive? Members of other religions still sacrifice their own lives for their God, every single day. Read the news. Some people will do anything either out of desperation or they truly believe they are doing something 'noble'. Look at any mentally unstable patient. They can believe they are the premier of a small island and nobody can shake their belief. They may even fool a modern lie detector because they're so convinced. Jesus was without a doubt a historical person. That's where the proof ends.
