For your own sake, if you like downloading "things", do consider moving onto the much better BitTorrent platform. Limewire is giving you very likely adware, not tip.it. No idea what you mean by "industrial strength popup blocker", if a browser disables new windows from opening, it's a pretty simple script. Nothing can get around it, such as in Opera. You are experiencing continuous popups while browsing tip.it because you are already infected by adware which creates popup windows despite 'blockers'. Tip.it may only give you one popup ad per reload, it can NOT spawn continuous popups like the ones mentioned by you over a 10 hour period. Do consider switching to a superior web browser as well (or more importantly, a safer web browser) such as Mozilla or Opera :)

Just about every laptop has a standard ethernet port, usually behind & under the monitor. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to it, and surf freely :) If your only goal is connecting the laptop to the internet, there is no reason to hook it up to a desktop PC

I'm not a christian (or an adherent of any other religion for that matter), but one of my parents is, so I was baptized at birth, way before hearing the 'word of God' :-s What about people who hear a different word of God? A person being born into China, India, Palestine, Indonesia, some African countries, Arab countries... Will very likely never even hear of the Bible, and those people comprise about 50% of the world's population.

Any song from Turisas: The Varangian Way, especially "A Portage to the Unknown" Nobody I know listens to that band, I also stumbled upon it quite recently... The way the album is made into a historic story, it's just awesome of a viking/hero/power metal band. Just a few years ago I barely even knew of such genres and was more into 'standard' genres of music.

Very few youngsters, if any at all, join gangs for "lifestyle". You've skipped major research done on gangs and youth in the last 30 years. Look into the life stories of people who end up in gangs, how their parents were like (or the lack of parents), having abusive relatives etc. Even kids who are living pretty normally at age 7 can be in a gang by age 17. Nobody is born to be a gang member or thug. Everyone who is in them usually wants to make enough money to disappear, which leads to the following problem: Exactly, you don't just "leave" a real gang (not that group of 5 tough acting neighbourhood kids, I mean a real organized crime group like mafias, the MS-13, Yakuza etc.), criminals have advanced a lot with the advent of technology and easier transportation. God forbid a gang 'deserter' ever gets in jail again, or even if he doesn't, he's looking towards a constant life of watching behind his shoulder or not being able to sleep at night without fear. Most people can't leave a gang which just leads to further trouble even if they're willing to stop a life of crime.

Thanks a bunch. 8-) Disabled the new firewall I installed, it indeed caused that.

People who attack you from multiple directions and all have martyrdom+sonicboom ability = Me wanting to just log out of that server  Though, this game is still fun to play occassionally.

I don't have fears... Except the unknown. I don't care if I got attacked by a bear, a mass murderer with a chainsaw, a huge other animal etc... Those are neutralizable threats. But the thought of something sinister attacking you with the intent to kill you, but you don't know what it is, who it is, where it is, or why it wants you. I sometimes had nightmares of that. Fortunately I doubt that's possible in our world 8-)

whats the best notebook/laptop i can get for $3000
BlueLancer replied to scaryman170's topic in Tech and Computers
Newegg is a good place for buying complete computers (for those who don't like building their own or don't have the time), but that specific laptop is horrible for $3K. Would consider another option. My laptop cost some $1000 and it had nearly all the same specifications except a 160GB HD and a 256MB graphics card. Don't get a laptop with "Vista Ultimate" like that laptop. You're paying $500 just to get features which aren't even supposed to be used by a gamer/web surfer like you. Go for WinXP or Vista Basic/Premium for gaming, Linux distros are free and great for everything else. -
Even if PS3 sales go up... It doesn't necessarily mean Sony is 'benefiting'. They probably had to pay a crapload of money to those studios in 'production support fees' and other payments to convince them of a large move like this. Probably talking about billions here even if it's not official news.

I rarely post a question here but this got me wondering... This keeps happening on my laptop no matter what settings I try to tweak. I first thought the obvious... The .host file must be autofiltering "ads"... But nothing is there. That's just an example website I opened a few minutes ago with the same problem. If I go on just about any site that sells something, it just says [AD] instead of displaying the proper mini-image (which can be seen just fine on other computers). What can cause all browsers on my PC (IE, Mozilla, Opera) to filter those without showing the pic and replacing it with [AD]?

Yes looking at this user's previous posts & this, it's quite easy to see he's a troll, trying to cause arguments (you know where a discussion goes where a person says MCR/Linkin Park/name_any_non_metal_band is real metal) and claiming to be a famous rap star̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâè.

Most brokerages require about $500-$5000 to start an account. The $25,000 is only required to day trade. Otherwise if you sell a stock you can buy it again but you can't sell it until the money from the initial sell has settled which is 3 business days. Options settle in 1 business day. If you sell again before the initial sale has settled then I know my brokerage(Scottrade) will put a freeze on your account the second time you do it after they give you a warning the first time you do it. It can be lower than that in many banks, but generally speaking, yes you'll need significant capital to day trade stocks (make instant sell and buy requests), most of the time normal investors can't sell & buy the same stock multiple times within a 2-3 days period without making the bank/broker angry or them just auto-banning you from buying/selling the same stocks so much. If you're investing only about $500 to $5,000, you can make a profit knowing what you're doing, but you wont be able to make a living from that level of gains (unless you live in a country where a few hundred bucks a month goes far for living, I suppose if you lived in China, a $200-$300 monthly profit could enable you to live as that equals some 1500+yuans) P.S: With the large initial deposit required for day trading, you do get many benefits as well, such as software that will automatically track stock prices every time prices go up & down, make instant sell requests if the price sinks too fast, etc... Which are usually not available for normal investors.

I wont even comment on the $100->$5000... But how on Earth could you buy $50 worth of Croc stock on NASDAQ and make $500 dollars by 'playing' it? :-k Based on the stock's history, it has fluctuated within $5-$50 of that price range. 50 bucks could buy you a max of 2 stocks months ago... 1 or 2 stocks can't make $500 of profit no matter what you did.. A skilled investor could've probably made $50 into about $60-$80 (minus broker commissions) with crocs by selling short while the stock had periodical highs, now the share is doing very bad (since it's patents are being rejected by the EU and the company has other problems) and the stock is hitting a low price, and may sink even lower. Please, don't lie with the intent to show you made absurd profits which are not humanly (nor even mathematically) possible.

Allow me to tell you that sentence isn't true. European culture has nothing to do with Babylon. Culture of ancient Rome was the main culture in Europe. Babylon is the ancient city of Mesopotamia. It has nothing to do with Europe. Europe has a different and an interesting culture that's completely different from Mesopotamia's culture :). Every European culture and country, even the Roman empire, was first influenced by other cultures. Europe hasn't been populated by modern humans for long at all; The people have poured in mainly from the east horn of Africa and Mesopotamia, then spread norther. Genetic research nowadays can easily show a given culture's genome/origins. Most [generally white] people in Europe/USA aren't called egyptians/tunisians or iraqis though, based on the current countries of their origins. Yet the people who are ethnically linked to current Europeans came from those countries 10,000-40,000 years ago. If you want to get technical, any native person of an European state not living in the above mentioned states is a "foreigner" since he is not living in his state of true origin.

Haven't seen the movie, but I watch this show occassionally out of boredom. It's great  It suits both kids and adults... And the humor is occassionally genuinely funny (and random, sometimes making no sense). A great cartoon, sadly, can't say that of most of the new stuff coming on TV these days...

No, you don't. Don't worry, even "normal" people can own, trade & sell stocks, recieve dividends... I know plenty of this subject since I basically did stock trading/short selling etc. as a living for years. It largely depends on which stocks you want to buy, what level of risk you're willing to accept, etc... It's safe to say NASDAQ/Topix, which lists technology companies (the other being Japanese though), still provides the highest profits (but also has a higher risk rate than S&P 500). Where, and how to buy/sell stocks is the least of your worries. Brokers are fighting a bloody battle amongst each other to get customers nowadays, commissions get lower all the time... Saxobank.com Tradewallstreet.com Sharebuilder.com And of course... Your local bank will most likely offer stocks for sale. Your age is a problem though; You wont be able to actively trade and sell stocks until you are 18 years old. It's simpler than elementary mathematics... You act before the market reacts. You must have the skill to identify which news, annual reports, etc. will rise a stock's price, which will make it go sky high briefly, which will make it drop or plummet, etc... Quarterly interim reports, press releases etc. of companies are one thing to wait for while holding the 'buy' button ready figuratively speaking. If sales have been good for a company, let's say Microsoft in the NASDAQ or Toyota/Nintendo in the Topix, a 10% increase in sales volume will nearly always mean the share goes up by about 2% or more (though not always, there are exceptions which I can explain to you in detail in PM) The thing is, you will want to get rid of those stocks once they reach your estimated price roof, about 5% max since the hype brings up the stock after an interim report etc., because the stock will stabilize a few days, or a week after the hype dies down. Then you repeat it after the next interim report/news that affects the share positively, ad infinitum... I quit doing it though, I'm no longer attracted by the aspect of purely playing a market to gain profits, I now find it extremely vain, boring and meaningless. I can PM you if you want to know more about this subject though. :) Oh, and if you really want to trade in stocks full-time... You'll need constant internet access and plenty of reliable business websites open during the times when the markets are open. Forget about newspapers, websites update every 1 minute these days and you can be way ahead of investors that react slowly (the very people that eventually bring up the stock price by creating hyped demand for it)

How can combat really have rules? Is it legal to invade a country, use 'smart bombs' which kills civilians, destroy nearly it's entire infrastructure, even if the UN is strongly against the plan and rules it incompliant to resolutions passed by other nations in the world? If 'right by might' is legality, then sure. As an Iraqi, you'd probably have insight into this... How would you react if your entire family, relatives and children were killed by an occupying country's missile or tank/mortar shells while searching for "buildings that harbor terrorists"? Could you just go on about your life all alone? Think what your life would be right now if you had no family, siblings, relatives, grandparents etc. alive, then think what a "terrorist" insurgent goes through. Going for innocent kids and people in marketplaces is disgusting and cowardly, but when you have nothing left to live for or see no meaning in your life, dying while taking as many people down with you, or martyring yourself, can start looking surprisingly appealing. It's not just in Iraq, it happens in the USA as well. Look at the psychological profile of those people that massacred innocent students. They were not bearded middle-eastern, middle-aged men. They were exactly the same as most suicide bombers; Young, angry at the world, isolated, depressed, with barely any life experience. Just of a different ethnicity (not that it matters)

I don't know why, but that made me laugh for a few minutes. I guess that'd be something funny to hear from the mouth of your own kid. Anyways, check out this site if you're in the US: http://www.soccershopusa.com/update/index.html (click on Ball) You can get even Adidas soccerballs for anything between $14 and $100, have fun finding a nice one 8-) If you're in Europe try this site. Pretty much all of those fall within your price range.

I thought it's natural and even good to crack your joints once in a while :( I can crack my back like 3 times a day, knuckles are easier to reload, I can do that maybe 5x/day. Easiest to reload? I guess jaw bones. I could crack these annoying little things all day. Thanks for the link though, didn't know it could be harmful. I'll definitely look into it.

Nihilism in Accordance to the Quantum Theory

who's to say that you control yourself? I assume you decided to make that post, just like I decided to make this reply. It wasn't forced on me through fate or some divine intervention. I could've pressed the 'back' button, thought to submit it instead to show you can control yourself  -

Nihilism in Accordance to the Quantum Theory
BlueLancer replied to raven_gaurd0's topic in Off-Topic
Does a rock have a purpose? Does an individual straw of grass have a purpose? They, just like humans, are made of matter, them being alive or not (or being able to comprehend their existence) doesn't alter their 'purpose'. Humans like to give themselves a higher 'meaning' since some of them spend a lot of time on thinking about abstract concepts (something other animals don't bother to do or aren't capable of, rather concentrating on finding nutrition and procreating). You can give your life any meaning you want. But it can't be imposed to you by some external force. Only natural forces, such as another human (who can change the purpose of an innocent child by recruiting him as a child soldier and making him do back-breaking chores), or sheer random chance can affect your life. I got a bit confused because you didn't mention or cite which particular "theories" you were referring to. There is no one universal "quantum physics theory", it breaks down to quantum field theory, quantum gravity theory, quantum mechanics etc. I'm not familiar with any quantum physics theories which deal with 'purpose' or being able to change event outcomes by mere observation. All the work and studies I've read on QP are from a purely scientific viewpoint. Please, do provide links. -
Government's with half a brain make it legally purchasable, like The Netherlands. Dutch people are very healthy, they are the tallest people on Earth, they live in peace, is there something I missed that makes them impervious to the effects of light drugs? That's right, the effects are not lethal, so why in the world would certain light drugs like cannabis/marijuana be illegal? Let me tell you... Social stigma. And more than that, the government's fear of losing votes in the next election because they legalised drugs (which are 'inherently' somehow bad).
