I knew tip.it would sink here some day. I knew it. Jk.. Maybe some people do find it interesting to know where 'memes' come from. Note that ED isn't really a source of information, it's pretty corrupted and false.

Amen.. Said that when I was 10 years old, still think it at 20+, will think the same at 30, 40, 50... Sure someone needs to do those jobs, but all I know is I wont be one of those people that sits in an office for 8+hours a day doing paperwork, sipping coffee and reading emails for mediocre salary. Hope you get picked. 8-) Tactical response teams can get interesting assignments too, not just violent ones. Ones that involve a sense of empathy for example, if you're sent to settle a fight/domestic violence in a home (both throwing objects at each other, saying they have no right to live there, etc.), you need diplomacy, not force, to solve the problem.

I had a seizure of some sort, I don't get shocked by just about anything, but my tech-savvy friend pulled a not so nice prank on me... He apparently uploaded a malicious piece of software on my computer while I was away (left it on)... Just out of nowhere while I was on tip.it or something, my screen went full-screen black, and that dead girl from The Grudge stared right at me & creeped forwards for about 1.5 seconds with that weird, low "rrrrrrrrrrrrarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound in medium-high volume. After that my computer shut down instantly (no "shutting down" message, it just switched off). I swear, in a dark room at 12.am and totally unexpected, THAT'S NOT A NICE EXPERIENCE. For maybe 10 seconds it changed my world view... But then he revealed me on MSN he had timed it after midnight

Didn't buy it, but I know plenty of sites that do pool betting for Euro 2008. Partybets offers 1.3 million dollars to the person who can predict the outcome of every game (don't need to know exact goals, just winner, loser/tie), for about $1 if I recall correctly. Not sure if the offer is still up at this stage.

To be honest, I don't think Croatia have any chance to win the entire contest :D But more power to you if they do... I don't make outright-winner bets, too volatile and risky. Heck, Greece won the last time, and their odds were 105 : 1 in the beginning by Ladbrokes. They even beat Portugal in the final game. Anything can happen. You got great odds with 14:1 though, so I hope you get the bet right. Thinking about : Switzerland v Turkey Goals:1.5 under:2.50x over:1.50x That game will very likely see 2 goals IMO, maybe 1-1, deciding the bet amount tomorrow.

I browse/mod a few forums for fun, now that I think of it I don't remember any other forum that has PhpBB3. Not confusing IMO, but actually quite unique. Isohunt forums crossed my mind.. But nope, they use 2.0 too. Once admins improve this and fix bugs, you'll probably like it :D

No, just the salary itself is horrible as it is in most countries. Working a responsible job like that for $6 and possibly even putting your health or life at risk.. No thanks. I don't wonder why cops turn crooked in many countries like Russia, etc.., or just become straight out criminals and misuse their power to extort people for fines, etc... Sure it's disgusting, but if a guy earns $200 a month and needs $800 to feed his family, what's he gonna do, suck it up? (A valid question since that's about the avg. policeman salary in eastern european countries+russia) American and west-european cops have it a little better, you can actually live a somewhat-normal life on the $2k/Eur1.7k a month it provides, but unless your wife works a job too, you wont really feed any more than 3, with penny pinching 4 mouths in the household (that is, you, the significant other, and 2 kids)

What odds you got on that double? Seems like a pretty interesting combo that my bookie doesn't offer. Portugal is huge favourite over Czech rep., Turkey is slight fav over the Swiss team. Could drop some 50 bucks on that if the odds are nice.

Tomorrow's Greece vs Sweden Crossing my fingers for now, I think it's a pretty clear under 3.5 on that game. Thinking about 1-0, 1-1 or 0-0 scores for that match. As long as it's under 3.5 goals though it's fine, hehe. Which bookies do you use BTW 1_man_army?

Yeah, that game was weird.. You'd expect France to easily win them, but they didn't really even have any close calls. Did you lose bad on that? I put X2 on france/draw @1.20x, $200 bucks, and straight $100 on X (draw only), profited from that 1. I almost knew it'd be a draw so was afraid to put it all bluntly on France.

Whoever made the topic "Tipit without smileys"

Too bad it has a black border though. -
Lol, I lost a s... load of money on Italy losing to Netherlands 3-0. Pretty big disappointment, extremely bad luck too. Ah well, trying to make more sure bets next time, like under 3.5 goals in a very tight game. Euro games have just begun though, anything can still happen.
-
Heh, just lost $2800 on Euro 2008 soccer betting, under 2.5 goals for the whole game @ 1.45x odds failed. Could've just put it at 3.5 and earned a sure 1.17x return... But whatever. Can't believe a world cup winner like Italy could lose to Netherlands 3-0, unbelieveable stuff.

No, that's ridiculous. There are other ways to develop an appetite and sleep better. Sports or physical activities for example can solve both those problems (they do for me). Not everything works for all people, not to mention some people could be even incapable of sport/physical activities if they're in a wheelchair, very overweight, heart problems, etc... Doctors in the USA have already accepted marijuana as a medical plant and several states offer medical marijuana programs (MMP) which are sponsored by the federal government.

Sad little guy with no life, doing something like this to stab a fansite forum.. Bet he felt really big and mighty doing that. Still it's nice to see the community hasn't disappeared anywhere, even if tip.it was down for days.

Haha, funny thing, the human brain that is. I still remember this topic from old tip.it. -
Forum is coming back but :(

That's seriously messed up, would be nice to know the name of that tech admin but maybe that's not important.. Positive thing is at least we got back up & running with a new software :) -
Not a big fan of rap.. But I like a lot of songs made by DMX and 36 Mafia :) Pretty much detest most techno/trance music, I have no idea why I repeatedly keep listening to Eric Prydz and that dumb aerobic song though.. And not delete it  There's something about it..

That's debatable. Barely, if at all. The point is, those animals very likely live on pure insticts. They have enough on their plate thinking about survival. When humans have enough food, shelter, protection.. They can start thinking about abstract things, create art, think of new ideas and creations etc. Just because we 'think' we should have a meaning, doesn't mean we really are any more meaningful than any animal mentioned above. We're at the top of the food chain, but so are a lot of other animals as well, such as lions. Do lions' lives have an explicit meaning? Other than eating other living organisms & animals, mating, sleeping, working (hunting) then dying. Compare that to the average human's life, add activities that require brain activity (due to higher mental capacity) and you'll be surprised how similar humans are to other animals.

Refer to GNH, Gross national happiness for this sort of thing... While I agree with you in theory, some of the above arguments are right: If you spent all your time working, you could burn out easily, maybe get suicidal thoughts, etc... Humans aren't robots, they usually need other things to do as well than just work. They would break down mentally if every time they wrote a post or played games, they'd feel compelled to work instead. The psychological satisfaction gained from non-profiting activities like playing soccer/video games/etc. for fun is just as considerable as the monetary gain from a job.

You will see after Jagex's new FunOrb portal is launched; The company is really going to cater more & more to the kids & "family" market. Unfortunately this will likely mean even mildly "offensive" words used in everyday discussions even between parents and children will be further censored. Jagex will want to keep a 'clean' image so don't count on the censor being relaxed anytime soon.

I want to see his explanation for sending money to "orphanages" owned by a warlord. On the other hand, he is solely designated as a "global terrorist" for participating wars, and barely any "terrorist" attacks can be attributed to him. He has recieved millions of dollars from the CIA during the Afghan-Soviet wars in the 1980-90's. Seems like they just need a common scapegoat/trying to trash the republican reputation though. Sure, he's not a pure-hearted angel, but designating him as a "global terrorist" over much more dangerous people?

As shown a few scenes later... He's "recovering", and if I remember correctly, is unable to even walk, thus being in a wheelchair for a while before paying a visit to Mr. White in his brand new mansion  Wow. That's pretty accurate now that I think of it. He's definitely more of a Bourne than the gadget using, tux wearing classic bonds... He's more into stuff like psychologically evaluating his enemies/trying to take their advantage away (such as laughing while being tortured to

Like stated above... The source of party hats has nearly died out (party crackers) so nobody obviously wants to open those which are worth even more than the hat itself. That, and a lot of old players who held most party hats have quit the game... There are probably only a few thousand left in the game. The amount of crackers is definitely lower, probably in the 100-200 range held by active players. Or half-full wine jugs which are an item from 2001, 7 years ago.

I love that one. It's enforced via lottery. A fresh level 70 can make thread not knowing wtf he is doing like http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=731973 THAT guy. Yet, 1 of 3 posts get locked. I mean, really? 1 of 3 topics people make get locked (I don't even bother making topics anymore, and I'm sure others don't either, since the same threads float around for days, yet the forum gets alot of traffic) Seriously? The moderators know better than me if those threads are worthy of my discussion? This place.... Why do I bother. If you actually viewed even one of those locked threads, you'd see the explanation why they were locked (or the question got answered, hence rendering the topic irrelevant) There was already a bigger thread on the same issue... Same as having 5 threads on OT about football, what's the point? :? Edit: Browse the first page of general discussion now, not even nearly 1/3 threads get locked, and definitely not 'randomly'. An influx of repeating threads always happens during a big update when people can't be bothered to search a 'main' thread so they start 10 smaller ones. How many threads do you see locked on off-topic? That's right, 0 right now (not counting this). Because generally, people with a bit more forum experience post here so less problems occur.
