  1. Heh, sometimes I wonder what the headset is for... Not all that innocent I'd bet. Perhaps rigging the entire match is too risky, but there's tons of other ways the referee/a mafia/etc. could profit from controlling events in the game.. Like giving over 3 yellow cards in the match. That stuff gets good odds, I'd be surprised if this ref. *wasn't* being influenced by someone else. Sadly money controls nearly everything these days. Still, pretty good game, even though quite dry goal-wise :
  2. If we're talking about direct land mass acquired, then yes it's probably England, or the Mongolian khanate in the 12th century. The Roman empire was big but doesn't even nearly compare to those two. I strongly disagree, for an unemployed/poor person, the army signing bonuses are a huge jackpot and a pathway into better life. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01266.html $20,000 is a gigantic load of cash for an unemployed person. That's more than you'd likely make working 1 year at McDonald's, just for signing up. You get salary on top of that.
  3. Actually China has a 24-month compulsory military service for ALL citizens aged 18-22, females are trained as well... According to CIA world factbook they have roughly some 700 million troops in available manpower, about 2x more than the entire US population. All officers are volunteers though. Wouldn't say they're far behind in technology either, China has multiple nuclear weapons and it has very strong missile/anti-air technology, plus advanced standard issue assault rifles such as the next gen QBZ_95 China's only, or should I say main, problem is their unstable northern regions due to poverty, and the political situation of Tibet.
  4. You have to agree though, there is nothing more fun than "spurring" on a angry customer when your manager is on your side  Every 'side' consists of people ultimately, intentionally pissing off of power tripping on anyone is pathetic and shows weakness of character. If you're a customer and something's going wrong, think about it from the perspective of the employee. What could he realistically do to help you if there's a power outage/blackout and you need your hamburger? Squat at all. Say 'thanks anyways' and move on to the next place. If you're an employee and a customer is complaining about a legitimate issue like the floor being littered with trash and being slippery, think about it from his/her perspective. Is it a legit complaint? If it is, don't get pissed at him/her for telling the truth like it is. Only make a scene when it's needed, in extreme cases (like if a customer says "I'm not paying $10 for this, I'll give you $5" and walks out of the store). And yes, even if the customer is an idiot, he's the one that funds your paycheck. You'll just screw things up worse by throwing a tantrum or thinking "that's it, I quit this *"

    4Chan

You're thinking of liberals, as a conservative I don't give a [cabbage] if someone posts discriminatory content on the 4chan boards. .. I hope you're not implying that 'as a conservative' it's ok to accept child pornography, sexism and racism  (2 of which are federal crimes and the 1st being able to land you 5 to 20 years in prison, and totally screw up your life/job opportunities)
  6. Worthy winners indeed 8-) Was an interesting match, didn't bet on it because it was such a tight game to begin with. I hoped for Spain to win though. But I agree with the above poster... Referee was a complete piece of garbage, or bribed. He was obliged to give a red card to the spaniard for bashing his head against a german player... Denied a penalty shot (ball clearly hit the players hand), and on the final minutes, cut off the game right as Germany was about to score. That kind of killed the excitement. I cheered for Spain but the referee really made the game lamer than it would've been with a 'normal' ref.
  7. Argumentum ad populum. The number of people who believe in something has nothing to do with it being true or not. Exactly.. By that logic, since the majority of Germany agreed with the nazis and voted them into power, nazi philosophy was the "truth", which couldn't be further from reality.
  8. Ok, 1st things 1st: 1. One of the best game series. Ever. 2. An actual horror/dark fantasy game series that isn't crappy. 3. Thought after 8 years.. A Diablo III would be wishful thinking, but here it is. Can't say anything negative about this, except they should maybe tune down the lighting a bit in some areas of the game, and tune the graphics to be slightly more grittier/non-WarCraft'ish. No doubt the devs have picked up on that already and work on it, the game is barely even in alpha-stage.
  9. Lmao, they even have "blackout bets". (Will the broadcast be interrupted for at least 1 min, etc.) Paddypower has a great sense of humor actually. But doesn't that kind of make the system easy to cheat? The commentators could just agree to use a certain cliche before the match starts tonight, and share the information with their friends/families/business associates. It'd be pretty easy profit and even easier to mask.. Just make a few incorrect bets on purpose, then a bit larger one on the "certain" outcome that was told to you.
  10. By it's sheer presence and not being deleted it must be concluded that it's 100% true, if there was anything incorrect within the post, Jagex would've edited/removed it fast.
  11. Just don't bet too high on 'exact score' markets  The bookies have it all figured out with mathematical formulas (which do hold up) and likely scenarios... Basing on past performance, injuries, weather, formations, etc... The ideal/most probable score is from zero goals to around 1-1 to 2-1/1-2 to either team, hence the low odds but surprises are always possible in sports. Almost certainly wont be a 3-goal difference for Spain like in the last game, but time will show.

  14. Heh, it was exactly the opposite back in the day, like 2002 and before that. Everyone just looked at your combat level and judged you by that, even after hiscores for total level were implemented, not many people cared about who has the highest 'total skills'. People who call you bad for having a high/low level at something should just be ignored. You have nothing to gain from listening to immature insults.
  15. Done that a few times if I was with friends or needed food for a few days and couldn't be bothered to cook. But yeah it must be frustrating if that happened & the joint was full of people. Haven't really had any outrageous experiences, except once ordering some hamburgers but they were filled with chicken instead of meat. It was so late I didn't even bother complaining, just sucked it up & ate them. Darn inexperienced employees not paying attention
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if that's true, some of my family is from eastern Europe, and in some towns about EVERY child born there after about 1986+ has heart problems (even people who aren't genetically linked to each other) and developed tumors at a very early age. It's screwed up because they did nothing to deserve it, but there's no other explanation than nuclear radiation.
  17. I actually find it quite hilarious that a lot of elderly people (including my grandparents from other side of the family) in southern europe, especially Balkans, believe in tons of supernatural things. My grandmother firmly believes vampires exist, not sure what her stance on zombies is. But she covers all the mirrors at night because she claims vampires can come out of them when it's pitch dark and the darkness reflects from a mirror -.- . But I respect my grandparents a lot so I don't laugh or ridicule them obviously, even though I know they're wrong. Probably a very vague generalization, but the poorer the community of the person he/she lives in, the more likely they have superstitious thoughts.
  18. Ehh.. I don't usually post in these threads, but... Just yesterday I was hanging out in an amusement park with my friends, and one of them is this girl who kept pestering me to come with them, I've known her for quite some time, going by her initials I'll say she's L. After going to a *sick* ride which also went upside-down multiple times, each one of us thought it's best to take a break. The nausea level was sky-high  But I noticed L was feeling really bad, and about to puke because of the last ride. So I crouched down to her and said if I should go get her a paper pag or something. But before I got to finish my sentence, she puked an awful load on the ground, and she *kissed me*. WHAT KIND OF PERSON DOES THAT?? Ok, first of all, that must be one of the worst kisses ever. Second, it was way too random. I just thought she's a friend. It tasted like burning god-awful rotten lava from hell. She could've at least chewed on a bubblegum or drank something first. Screw offering sincere help.
  19. If "alien" means any kind of intelligent life form outside of Earth.. Yes. Don't even think that's a matter of 'belief', it's almost certain, it just needs to be proven beyond doubt, which it hasn't been yet. Zombies, undead monsters, ghosts... I don't really believe in those products of popular culture  Each to their own
  20. Please tell me that's a joke. No. i'm deadly serious, i'm betting that spain are more relieved then anyone that they won't have to the face the goal machine that is Luca Toni  Luis Aragones, the head coach of Spain, openly expressed they wish they could've faced any other nation in the quarter finals than Italy, they won the game eventually on penalty shootout. Penalties are more or less lottery, so that's pretty lucky too (regardless of the winner).
  21. Some lone soul always finds a ridiculous quasi-philosophical argument to question "why" murder, rape, robbery, etc.. Are immoral, but from a common sense viewpoint you're 100% correct. Human actions and morals can be labeled as 'positive' or 'negative' (or neutral) value, if you wish, "good", and "bad". Helping an elderly person cross the street has a 'positive' value towards everyone in the society and also sets a positive example. Robbing and beating an elderly person to death has a negative value towards society, plus it affects the people close to the dead person, they could want revenge, revert to alcoholism, so that action has only "bad" consequences. A good moral indicator is: Would you do something to another innocent person, that you wouldn't want anyone to do to your own child? If yes, your morals are corrupted because it makes no logical sense: You practically give any person the right to retaliate with same force against people YOU love, and ultimately, everyone loses out.
  22. Spain utterly destroyed Russia with 3-0... Amazing. Good thing I placed these 4 score bets... 1-0, 1-1, 0-2, 0-3.. Hit a pretty nice odd multiplier with the last one  Final game will be extremely interesting to watch: Germany vs Spain. The only certain thing is that 1 of those teams is the best football nation in Europe, 2008.
  23. Heh, sounds pretty farfetched, but then again, people ridiculed the idea that the height/appearance of a person directly will correlate to how much on average he will earn during his lifetime... And it was proven true (the taller/more attractive a person is, the more money on average he will earn during his lifespan, talking about an extra 100-300k here). Shorter people as a generalization, earn less money than people over 6'1. You can't say most religious people are ugly ogres though, most are quite ordinary people, just like a typical atheist, agnostic or any other person. So I doubt 'that' is the key reason people turn to religion.
  24. If I recall correctly, you're from Belgium (or was it Netherlands, shoot me if I'm wrong  ). Probably cultural, because those countries are pretty liberal minded compared to just about any western country.
  25. A legitimate company selling hundreds of thousands worth of merchandise can afford to pay $5 for a domain name and a proper email account. & Not spam their products on the fan site of a java game.
