My initial thoughts after playing through most of this game in single player mode... This game is based on 24 (which is pretty cool). The missions, the voice acting of certain characters like Sgt. Vasquez just made it feel like a 7th season of that TV show. :)

For the life of me, they mentioned this multiple times in philosophy & religion classes.. I can't remember what it is called, but there is a category of religious people who do believe in God, but believe he does not actively take part or affect anything that happens in the world (in other words, he just put the materials and living organisms there and abandoned it). I guess that's not impossible either. It seems highly improbable if a God would actually answer prayers and effect events in the world, he'd allow so many atrocities and horrible things to happen, even to innocent babies and children. Can't really appeal to free will either, a baby didn't choose to be born in a 'free willed' world where he will be recruited as a child soldier at age 6 and be forced to kill his own parents at the command of a rebel leader who is hungry for more diamond fields.

It seems a lot of these cases happened in Texas, a Dallas lawyer has been put on the case of contaminated peanut butter. Hadn't heard much about it previously either, though. -

Only those that have been medically and scientifically proven to actually have an effect on building mass: Protein powder (90-95%), EAS/Prolab Glutamine Creatine* Recently due to recommendations at the gym I've been trying leusine as an anti-catabolic, can't say anything about it because I've used it for such a short time. *Creatine can significantly boost your muscle mass, but it wont be as permanent, because all creatine really does is bind more water cells to your muscles, making them appear bigger. After 3+ months of use it's strongly encouraged to take at least a 1-month break from using this supplement because it becomes obsolete (i.e. it wont have any further effect) If you don't do any strength training or eat the proper food, it will decrease your muscle mass. However it will greatly improve you muscle strength and endurance. Cutting is what bodybuilders do after adding mass, which is just that, cardio. That's a pretty good article on BB.com However, if you don't eat the proper food during the 'cutting' phase/season of training, you will lose muscle mass. That's why you try to hold on to the muscle mass as much as possible, but in extended cardio, some will be inevitably lost. I also do 'cutting' some 1-2 months a year, and only noticed slight decrease in mass.

Well, if you're isolated for a longer period of time, it's bound to happen. In 2000 I returned from an only 6-month UN peacekeeping mission in Kosovo as an extension to military training.. But that's not the point. Point is, I was pretty damn alone after that, almost all my friends had deserted me or some moved away in that period and switched to other email/phone numbers. Things change a lot in a few years though, I figured it's just better to have a few good genuine friends, rather than 30 friends who really don't give a rat's ... about you. 8-) And depending on your personality, you shouldn't try to make yourself look like a victim like "I have no friends, the world hates me, guess I'll just cut my wrists". You don't have to spend every moment you're awaken with someone else. But it's good to share some of your life with others...

The RAM on your computer seems quite low (the processor is fine though). Did you consider loading the 'low resolution' version? Even with 512MB, it would possibly lag a bit.

You'd be surprised at the power of social networking, and naÃÆÃâÃâïve to think viral campaigns don't work. Just a reminder, Jagex spent a grand total of $0 on advertising, all of their business originates from the close friends of Andrew and Paul who spread the word on Runescape to their friends, they told their friends, their friends posted about it on a forum, those forum readers directed it to reviewers, reviewers hooked more people on the game, etc... And it ended up in a business which has over 1 million people paying $5 a month to play a game. -
That's grossly wrong, people should constantly challenge their own views, values and opinions... And ponder whether they are pure and honourable. Or do you think the guy in Finland who just shot 9 innocent students was right in his view, because he had begun to hate the world, and in his opinion and values, it was O.K. to kill them to make a point? What if someone challenged his views strongly enough to prevent this massacre?

Well, practically the God's in islam and christianity are indistinguishable, because 'allah' directly translated to "god" in the english language. Even christians in such countries as Lebanon still call god "Allah" due to the arabic language ("Allah is not bound to one religion, just as God isn't) And I agree about the Jesus thing. Actually, that's exactly what a religion teacher at my school taught the class (he was a qualified christian theologist). Nobody with two bits of brains and the capability to conduct research, denies the existence of a personified jewish person called Jesus (Isaiah) who gained a significant following due to this pure, morally feasible teachings that appealed to a lot of the common people. There are conspiracy theories around that too... I'd frankly treat them as the same as the 'zionist new world order' ones. Indeed the issue is, as you said, did people like Jesus/Muhammad really do all the things mentioned in the Bible, and the crucial question, did they really bend the laws of nature just because a God allowed them to. Probably everything else, except the parts where Muhammad ascends to the heavens while alive, or Jesus literally feeds a crowd with a handful of food/heals the blind with his hands, is true. The supernatural parts are up to every person's faith. Sadly not many kinds of religious people are represented on this thread, but not even nearly all christians I talked to believe in any kind of supernatural powers by Jesus. Heck, you're swedish, you'd probably even know priests with this point of view, I spent a part of my childhood in Sweden and it's a very 'neutralized' country where people view things objectively. You can believe Gautama Buddha recieved divine visions, you can believe Jesus walked on water, you can believe Muhammad spoke with angels... Just that people should remember they are personal 'beliefs', not universal facts like in science. What sounds true to you, sounds false to a supporter of another religion. Sure told us why, didn't ya. If the god exists, then explain why the infants die at birth, what did they do to deserve death so quickly, and why didn't god do something? By the way I seriously cba to argue about something so obvious, it's like arguing about whether the world is flat or not. Did u even think of the possibility that god does exist, but he doesn't care about infants dieing? If he doesn't care about the purest form of innocent human life dying to malnutrition, why on Earth would he care about the prayers and requests of overweight, spoiled western people who wish they had "extra money to buy their kids some presents"? Are presents a necessity for life? Even over giving life to a child who has done nothing to deserve death?

LOL  Must take an Einstein to figure out why you were killed in a war game... Yeah, some kids shouldn't be given an internet connection until they're, say, 21...

Nah, usually never. Try 'ultraviolence', 'ultragore' or films which make an extremely strong and valid point against dictatorship/tyranny/protocols. I guess it's easy to make PG-25, and next thing you know, PG-35 when you are a conservative 62-year old thai politician who's only ever seen idyllic comedies and propaganda films... Exactly the reason why most countries need more younger politicians... While the politicians get their paycheck raised every 6 months, get unlimited benefits, start new pension funds... Who's controlling them? Who's placing a PG-70 on overdrawing of public funds?

Democratic values, human rights and equality. No question that human rights and equality should be valued. That also spawns a significant question which is acute right now: Does democracy, as a form of goverment, really appeal to every nation and culture in the world?

This just keeps getting funnier.. Maybe there's some entertainment to be gained from this guy.. The claim by 2 german scientists that said they could overpass the speed of light has been debunked already a few days after they made their ridiculous claim. But hey, according to you, a claim by 2 german nutjobs makes it a scientific fact. Also, God exists because you say he does (or can you even prove it's a He, not a female?) You know what? Science is based on universal, proven facts. Facts are not what I or you believe to be right. They are what have been proven right by the scientific method and empirical evidence. By saying everything you just wrote was based on your opinions, you admitted you were just pitting "your word against mine". You can't disprove science, or prove God, with words. Just as I can't prove a blue apple exists by words that have no scientific backing. Good for you, I'm not an atheist. As a matter of fact I was baptized by a priest at birth in a church. I still don't rule out the possibility of any god's existence. I just find it funny when people like you think they have conclusive proof "I know God exists because a book said so, and everyone else is wrong" with nothing backing up your words other than your personal 'belief'.

Yeah, I definitely think morals should be taught in schools. At least in my school, we had philosophy or religion classes to choose from. I chose philosophy but occassionally went to religion classes since some of my friends were there. I learned quite a lot about different world religions. However, in a philosophy class, the teacher would every day challenge us to evaluate moral scenarios, this one stuck to my head: Even though everyone agreed stealing is wrong, to save a child's life over the profits of a greedy doctor would be right in the minds of every single person in that classroom. That's just an example. :) It's important for kids to learn proper, humanistic values and morals. Nearly all normal cultures, regardless of ethnicity and religion, respect human life and shun upon hurting others unless in absolute need of retaliation to survive. Not just that, but kids really don't know what "honor" is these days. Like lending $50 from your friend and not paying it back. Promising to do something, then intentionally not doing it 3 months later. A lack of honor is a sad thing as well.

This guy is a troll. I feel like an idiot I actually tried replying to him, lol.

Nope, not once at all. Mind giving me one of your personal examples? (Other than the stock answer of 'miracle healing' or 'I was feeling down, then I realized Jesus can open my heart') Alternatively, don't tell me, send it to James Randi at http://www.randi.org/ If you can prove you have supernatural abilities or can communicate with Gods, he will offer you $1 million which is already deposited in a bank account, waiting to be cashed out. You also didn't reply to my post at all. Please, do give me a source where a scientist says "soul" and "afterlife" are proven facts. You implied that, I'm waiting.
-
I just couldn't reply past this point. There is no point in arguing with a person who genuinely believes scientists have proven the "afterlife" and "soul" are in existance. I wish you luck in your college philosophy debates, you'll really need it. So you think all the millions of Gods that exist (including the roman gods that people worshipped for over 800 years) were all real and 'not made up by humans'? In medical science/human psychology, it's been known for ages even small children create imaginary friends and believe they exist... This phenomenon isn't limited to kids though, it also affects adults. Some even have to go to a therapist later on. You're so full of misinformation and brainwashed blind following of whatever you have been told. You could learn a lot from rational religiously devoted people such as Insane. Not that you'll listen, but maybe you will after some fellow muslims here post to show how you put muslims in a bad light with posts like that. "People are not stupid enough to believe creations of human mind" Have you been living under a rock? People will believe ANYTHING if the perpetrator is convincing enough. I don't think you just quite understand how gullible people are. If the person is a skilled manipulator, such as Hitler, he will gain even a whole nation to follow his ideas.

Wouldn't know about it in December... But during the summer months? Heck yeah.. Sadly. I spent a good 4 weeks last year at my cousin in California, just some 20 miles from OC, and it was... Really dry. Nearly all the vegetation and grass had died out or turned yellow, during those weeks there wasn't a single drop of rain. The dryness and 113F temperature... Kind of ruined the fun aspect of going out for summer fun. So everyone just stayed inside. They also couldn't fill the swimming pool due to some local restrictions, I had previously only heard of such restrictions in southern France during extreme blazing hot weather to conserve drinking water.. But the US? I guess anything is possible now.

Good job, and be alert... Just don't be too eager to 'pull the trigger'.. -
... It seems this person never had a glimpse of real people or real lives to begin with  So leaving her dog millions of dollars doesn't really seem too weird...

Isaac Newton's laws and theories are based on science, not human psychology. Think, if you're 16. A huge buffed guy comes at you, hits you in the face and brandishes a knife. Is your body telling you "activate primate fighting instict, hit him back" or "remember Isaac Newton's third law of motion"? No, if you wanted to have any chance of surviving, you'd run away as fast as possible. I don't see how that applies in societal behaviour and retaliation.

I said I'll post later but I'm just sick of these posts. You can't prove God with science. And you never will. How exactly will scientists prove "Oh well, it seems God is real after all? How is it justified to compare a supernatural existance with flat earth, lightspeed barriers, etc..? That logic makes no sense, flat Earth and "Earth being the middle of universe" were ideas proposed by organized religion in the first place. That would mean the opposite; That science will next come up with positive evidence a God's existence is false too. And God is made up by humans whom you heard the story from. The world has 6.5 billion people and they all definitely don't believe in the abrahamic God. Why bother arguing when your only argument is that coming from an appeal to popularity? Please, do read Argumentum ad populum and then read your post. Just because a large people of number decide to believe in anything which is not proven, doesn't make it true! I don't know how hard that could be to understand. Just because islam has about 1.3 billion followers, doesn't make it any more "true" than the Falun Gong religious movement, the Hare Krishna or a tribal african religion with 100,000 followers. By stating that, you automatically make the assumption "some people must have made contact with God". Ever since visual methods of recording have existed, there are absolutely *no* cases of recorded supernatural activity. Your only proof is a book, which by popularity does not gain authoritative scientific evidence, just as the Lord of the Rings doesn't even if it's read by 200 million people. Heck, even LOTR is based on some historical facts and real scandinavian folklore. Just like the Bible/Qur'an have some real historical events (which are for example supported by contemporary roman historians), and lots of fiction. It would be good if insane/other christians/muslims/hindus/buddhists/etc. posted on this, because I'm not disagreeing with the idea of God existing/your right to believe in God. I'm saying there is absolutely no way you can prove God or any other thing which is not in existence, hence I don't see why my Santa Claus (or the infamous Flying Spaghetti Monster) examples are irrational. They fully comply with logic based on empirical evidence and the scientific method of acquiring proof.

Burger King / The struggle for farmworkers, 1 cent more
BlueLancer replied to waf1le's topic in Off-Topic
Actually, it's nothing when it adds up. Burger King's total revenue: $2.48 Billion USD (2006) Burger King's pure profit last month (ending quarter 3): $49 million dollars Cost of supplying 5000 restaurants with 2,000 pounds of tomato per day, with 1 cent added to operating costs: $3 million per month Sure, it's a lot to the greedy shareholders and bosses. But they are already filthy rich and make continuous profits; By increasing the price per pound by a cent they lose less than 5% of their profits while keeping their employees up with todays standard wages. -
Burger King / The struggle for farmworkers, 1 cent more
BlueLancer replied to waf1le's topic in Off-Topic
Haha, my friend, do you realize what you have just said? There will be no greed-stopping among humans anytime soon. Hell, the developed world's economic system is based off greed. We're human, there is no way to stop greed. [unless, ofcourse, you were referring to this on a smaller scale, such as putting Burger King out of business. Regardless, they still make a hell of alot of money and I don't think any petition is going to change that.] That's true, but the extents of greeds to which BK is reaching is sick. We're not talking about giving farmer's a CEO salary, we're talking about a $10 bucks increase per 1 ton of vegetables. If that can't be paid for the quality work they do, that's pretty sick. Talking about sick, compare the salaries of the Burger King CEO and the average Burger King 'front line' worker. CEO salary total with bonuses: $3 million per year BK worker salary total with bonuses: $18,000 per year Just cutting the boss' salary equals to 30,000 tons of tomato with the added $0.01 price tag per pound. Yeah, the farmers must be unreasonable...
