This stuff is so stupid it's not even funny or new anymore. Everyone knows USA is becoming the rotten apple of western civilization with all this overly-political correctness, hypocrisy, "protection" of children and their schools etc. One would wish these are just single cases, which they probably are. Most schools/colleges in the U.S. are totally normal and would never censor a play like this, or ban tag on schoolyards or something equally idiotic.

On the recent jailing of the Sudanese UK schoolteacher
BlueLancer replied to Acelgoyobis's topic in Off-Topic
Yeah, now that I think of it, some conservative christians would have just the same reaction, they'd at least call for the expulsion of the students or the teacher. What if a christian school named their classroom muppet "Jesus" and used it as a general toy to hang on walls and kick it like a football? -
Should States in the USA have the power to..
BlueLancer replied to TheLastTemplar's topic in Off-Topic
As someone kindly said already, individual states can already nullify federal laws in the USA. Even to rafity new laws you need a majority of states agreeing with the legislation. For example, the federal government has no authority in dictating same-sex marriage or abortion laws. Those are decided by each state themselves, and are illegal or legal depending on which state we're talking about (for example, abortion is legal in some states) The federal government can also try and stall, say, stem cell research by cutting or removing their funding. That doesn't mean single states can't fund stem cell research. There is no law prohibiting N.Y. state from using public funds to research stem cells even if the president or his cabinet in Washington D.C. disagree with it. -
This game reminds me a lot of the dos-based Wolfenstein I played as a kid, except with improved level design. Downloading it now :)

OH TEH NOES! [My Lit Teacher is a PETA Activist >_>]
BlueLancer replied to Errdoth's topic in Off-Topic
There wasn't any religion flaming on this thread, just that someone happened to add to the discussion on animal rights that "evolution should be taught as a theory amongst others such as creationism". It's grossly inaccurate to teach creationism as fact and of real educational value in the world. As I said, everyone has the right to believe what they want. Just remember 25% of the world's population is christian, leaving 75% with all sorts of religions, values, beliefs, etc... Evolution itself is an universal theory which crosses cultural or religious boundaries. It's taught in an Arab university just as it is in a British university or a Chinese one. Evolution has occurred amongst people of every possible culture. I just find it funny when religious conservatives demand their myth should be taught as a fact rather than stories of greek, scandinavian, oriental, or other gods just because they 'believe' it's the truth. Evolution doesn't contain beliefs, it just observes and inteprets what happens in natural biology. -
:( Sad Very sad. I'm surprised they haven't been shut down already for hate crimes. They probably wont be, because... It's a comedy website. But I guess people don't like reading earlier posts on a thread these days 8-)

Holocaust Denial, the BNP and freedom of speech
BlueLancer replied to assassin_696's topic in Off-Topic
To a degree, it's probably acceptable to contest the number of people who died in the Holocaust (though, what difference does it make? Were the nazis/Hitler a better person if they "only" killed 1 million jews?). Jewish lobbyists have tried to score political points on the expense of the dignity of the survivors for decades, even justifying the numbers as a reason to create the state of Israel. What's not acceptable is the denial of the whole event occurring at all, because that statement is a blatant lie. Yet some people even in a political party such as the BNP accept this view. Saying the holocaust didn't exist to a jewish person, especially one who survived the holocaust, is worse than publicly humiliating him by insulting his family or telling him to f... off. Which can be both punished by law if the person decides to take legal action against you for public slander or libel. Why should denying the holocaust be any different? -

BlueLancer replied to Errdoth's topic in Off-Topic
Nope, it's not a majority. Only about 30% of americans disagree with the evolution theory, which leaves 70% believing in it (and as you can see by that chart, the US is an extreme exception within western nations when it comes to accepting it). I don't see how you can mix theology and science when it comes to teaching my children facts. If they want to be religious, sure. I wont stop them. But magical 'beliefs' are different from empirical evidence and proven facts. If they want to survive in the more and more competitive world, they need education which stresses the importance of knowledge and facts. Coincidentally, Turkey and USA (which both have an influential religious right, one christian, one islamic, which wants to revert their country and it's values to the middle ages) are the two least-accepting countries when it comes to the evolution 'theory'. -
I could cook just a few simple meals like spaghetti, or just use off-the-counter microwave food. My friends even ridiculed me occassionally when I told I mostly cook my own food. I thought it was even worse these days... But what do I know, maybe every kid cooks roast dinners with madrid sauce and salad bedding these days. :( I fail.

Blu-Ray movies and discs cost multiple times per single unit than 10 blank recordable DVD or HD-DVD. The 5% or so quality increase is not worth it even if the discs contain 25gb of data. You still end up losing money just to use "new technology" compared to earlier, lossless quality formats. Also, just about no standard DVD player/computer has blue-violet laser burning or reading capability. It's not going to become an average-customer reality anytime soon, if ever.

That's the problem, don't look for games branded at a "specific" audience based on gender or age (discounting the age 3 drawing games which MAY become a little boring). Girls can find RPG's and fun games just as much fun as guys, just maybe less of the FPS shooting whatnot (though some might like those too) Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass, Mario Party, The Simpsons... A few good games for the DS. If you absolutely want to go for the "girly" variety (a mistake I tell you, most of these games are really naÃÆÃâÃâïve and childish), check out Imagine Pet Vet, Nintendogs - Chihuahua & Friends, Cooking Mama or Strawberry Shortcake 2 ( ) Hope you got the point by just barely looking at the names/screenshots of those games.

The current Nickelodeon is so trashy, lol. I have it as a part of a cable subscription of some 60 channels, not that I particularly watch cartoons and stuff... They now mostly have mass produced, low-budget 'teen series' with scripts more boring than watching a snail hike to China.

Forgotting something.. They are 16/17  Remembering that age, It'd be an achievement if they managed to cook popcorn and watch a movie together. No offense, ...

How do you know the sites joke? unless you reasearch first. Seriously, why'd I research it? This is as old as the 'lolcat' pictures. I can't believe you guys haven't heard of this before. It's a parody of the "Poe's law": And apparently, the "Poe's law" proves itself time after time. Several well known sites like The Register have fallen to this hoax, a long time ago though. It' also been featured on BBC radio.

That's exactly the kind of thinking you should challenge if you like to think logically/rationally (referring to ugafan_2009). Would a wise God really turn away his attention from starving children to stop time for one girl in a western country or create events to delay the flight departure? ... Now, I understand he's from the southern states so his parents could have strong religious beliefs, but you don't have to believe anything in life out of pure blind "faith". My parents were somewhat religious too. I was baptized in a church as well, and my other parent is loosely of the islamic faith. Does that mean every atheist, agnostic and representative of another religion is my "enemy"? (Like a lot of rednecks seem to think, no offense)

When I was a kid and found out why people murder, loot, rape, let children starve to death and violate each other in masses was the day I realized I had been brought up in a fairytale world. Humans are just like any other animals, they'll do anything for resources (such as money, oil, gold, diamonds, mines, political power) What still astonishes me is that people make the assumption "I'm having a good life, therefore God must have blessed me". And they keep praying for divine help in trivial matters, not to insult her, but my grandmother would ask for 'God's help' in deciding what gifts to give as a present? -.- If there is an infinitely wise God, he'd probably first find a way to feed the 30,000 children who die every day (including today) of HUNGER and thirst. Yes, while western pigs (such as myself, I wont be embarrassed to admit) have more to eat than is necessary, some kids age 5 with no parents can't find a grain of rice for nutrition. But yeah, whatever positive things are happening in your life, "God" must've caused it. He probably also cares more about you winning the lottery and spending it on cars and booze, than helping people who really need aid. You're free to believe whatever you want though... Remember there are thousands of religions, people generally need something comforting or reassuring.

Red & Black Trimmed and Gold-trimmed Armors?

I'd be very surprised and disappointed if they would break up. Location: Sweden I don't know where to find reliable statistics on scandinavian divorce rates, but from what I read earlier, it sure as heck isn't even near the american ones. Maybe we're talking about 10-20% in Sweden... People in Sweden most likely hold marriage as a precious thing, not some paper document you sign while you're drunk in a Vegas vampire casino chapel and pay $50 for the ceremony... Maybe americans get married too easily.

I could maybe barely understand if people were disputing the numbers of people killed in Auschwitz and other barbaric extermination camps, but how can you really be so idiotic and say "it never happened" when there are thousands of eyewitnesses, tens of thousands of German testimony, high-up nazi generals admitting to it, secret photographs, markings/nazi burnings on the abused jews' skins, etc.? Or does someone really think all those jews in Germany were "faking" or "paid" to say the events were real as a part of some mysterious "Zionist NWO conspiracy"? :?

I'd rather understand his post as an "essay", not as a document which tries to impose absolute truths. You've got some good points, such as humans trying to rationalize and categorize "reality", like in your orange example. True, even though the 2 fruits are of the same species, they aren't really the same. I don't see how that's relevant to our reality though. When it comes to lousy politicians (not talking about the better ones such as Churchill), I couldn't agree more. But in civilian reality, it is a very good idea to make evaluations of people and ponder if they are fit to know better what you should do, than you yourself (such as a doctor, lawyer, specialist, etc.). Trusting them could be beneficial to you or even save you money, health, even your freedom or life. I'm also wondering why the USA thinks it can stop terrorism by more violence, killing innocent bystanders, women, children with every airstrike, which will just breed more sorrow and hate amogst those who may even once sympathized with the americans. I've tried to imagine, but I really don't know how horrible it would feel if your family had done nothing bad, and suddenly a foreign nation in pursuit of a single 'terrorist' bombs down your entire town, destroys your house, kills your parents and your brothers and sisters, while you remain alive... If that person turns to blind rage and sadness and retaliates on other people... Can you really say YOU wouldn't have the same reaction? Would you just suck it up that your entire life, family and friends are lost in a matter of 2 minutes of bombing?
-
Wont argue with that. 8-) Nothing better than seeing your friend's/cousins happiest day in his/her life, plus getting free stuff and drinks... If people hold marriage valuable, you should be happy for them even if they'll probably break up later.

"Hey dude, I heard you can't cheat on the Wii now that they updated the software" "Really? I just got this cool GameGenie CD to jumphack on Metroid..." "Nah, you can't. My Wii just turned off after I tried to turn on cheats. *Shows video on iPod* Mario: "You's got a cheatsa? Mamma mia!" [GAME OVER] "What the @#!*1 man" OT: I liked the Gameshark cheats on NES though...

I think if he wants the books, Give them to him. Or atleast look for hints on what he likes. As In.. -Jewelry He wears -Clothes Other any other things in this category. My Mother always buys my father clothes, or Jewelry. It's just a suggestion, that I think would personally work. ~Alina Depending on the guy's age and character/personality, I'd dare to doubt most guys would want jewelry as a gift. Unless we're talking about snake, viking or pirate rings of course. A subtle silver/gold necklace is a stylish gift though. 8-) Not like "MTV-rapper" big, but not "baby's baptizing necklace" small either. Something he wouldn't be embarrassed to wear in public or with friends. A Hug? Not exactly! :D Yeah, he obviously meant self-bottled spring water. What could be more refreshing on a christmas eve. And what's up with the naughty people invading tip.it.
