  1. snipers are beast, but i wouldnt want to lie on my stomaach for days on end, id probly fall asleep. -.- Speaking from minor training experience, snipers always have company. They will switch positions after maybe 4 or 5 hours and you usually get to do something else. Not for comfort reasons, but your eye can start hurting really bad which is a risk.
  2. From what I saw in documentaries and read, he was just an adventurer who for some reason turned into a muslim. He fought as a rebel in Kosovo. Then he got training from Al-Qaeda, and translated some texts from arabic, which he had learned, into English, or the other way around. He didn't actually even engage in killing anyone. It's very questionable if his "training" makes him a threat. What are you going to charge him with? Currently, the most solid argument used by Pentagon is "providing services for a terrorist organisation" (I.E. Translating a leaflet which contains limited information that is passed out to even the lowest ranked soldiers, and which could've been done by anybody else who knew arabic and english) Doesn't warrant 5 years in prison without a charge. Some serial killers who abduct children get 8 years in prison. This guy didn't even kill anybody and he's already been deprived of his freedom for years.
  3. OMF.G...take religion out of this conversation. They are not Islamic, they may say that they are, but they arn't, Islam is a very peaceful religion and condemns all actions such as this...Your going way out of line and hurting your arguments by saying that. Eh, then why do you think they killed, kill, and are killing each other for? It's more than just some whacko named Joseph. It's always got more to do than a 'corrupt' goverment. Religion is just a frame behind which factions and dictators work in Africa. There are christians, muslims, orthodox, jews, natural religion... etc all over the continent. A dictator just picks the appropriate religion to his country, pretends to be a god-fearing fellow farmer, and turns his coat when he gets into power and absorbs the country out of money and oil; causing hundreds of thousands of deaths. The problem is, many african countries aren't truly democratic. Nobody will get into power unless they are mafioso or millionaires. Look at south africa, it's on a higher democratic level than some eastern european countries. They stopped apartheid. Their economy is rising, they have normal citizens in power. The only reason is because ordinary people in SA can actually get an education. In Sudan or Uganda, they are lucky if they get to stay alive with farming.
  4. US, but originally from FIN/SWE, you can add me to those. Level 108 (quit playing years ago though)
  5. I have no idea if the government lied, probably not. Still, you (anybody) are an epitome of ignorance if you think a lot of people didn't know about the terrorist attack before it happened. Just the financial proof and stock trading a few days prior to the attacks is overwhelming. Does that group of "insiders" include the whole US government or the president? Not very likely. Some government officials? Yeah, probably. What's so new about politicians taking advantage of horrible situations, death, and war? Why don't you go and read the history of politics and then honestly think again, does democracy all of a sudden make 'angel politicians' who are never corrupt? Would you be corrupt if you could REALLY earn tens of millions of dollars? A lot of people answer, in a hypothetical situation, "no, I'd value those lives more". If they were REALLY put in that situation, an amount of money that guarantees you a spot in the >0.01% of the world's wealthiest and powerful humans, would they stick up to their morals?
  6. The correct answer to your question would be zero True, but some of the recruiters are quite aggressive and persuasive. They will intentionally go to malls and other places favored by young people who have nothing better to do than hang out, and tell them about the perks of "military life". Not all young people have an entirely free will especially if they come from poor conditions. They can be easily persuaded to throw away their lives in the name of patriotism.
  7. Any as long as I can watch the movie properly  Never cared too much about that.. But 16:9 WScreen aspect is cool for watching 'good' movies.
  8. They wouldn't :P Humans can survive regular coldness of over -50c in the northernmost parts of the world, Siberia, Lapland, Greenland...
  9. In other words "I don't think. Therefore I am." Even the dumbest animal exists regardless what it thinks about itself (or lack of thoughts)
  10. I don't usually see ice on roads, not in the US or Europe. Snow is a different thing, and most Europeans do use cars.
  11. Unlike some overly strict fansites, tip.it DOES allow links to proven safe downloads, like Firefox or mIRC, given that obviously the link is real and unaltered. Some people just don't have common sense. Just from the layout of a site, you can most of the time decide if it's safe or not. 1. Look at what the file does. 2. Compare it to the file size. Does a "full satellite over the space" program 'weight' 45kb on your hard-drive and is on a free domain? Keylogger. Is it also listed on "google Earth", is a 12mbyte installer, made by a company that is listed in the stock exchange? Safe. And if you're very skeptical, always scan the exe file before opening it. When I DL something from a tip.it user who has, say, 2000 posts and has been posting for over 4 years, why do I trust him? Because he has nothing to gain by being labeled a scammer all over the RS community forums, losing posting priviledges and, since his username is known, possibly risk his account as well (not to mention I don't even play RS anymore). So far I've never even had a keylogger on any computers I've owned. Please use common sense while downloading files, don't just blindly follow "security guidelines", use your brains and knowledge. Most antivirus programs today will tell you anyways if a program is recording keystrokes, and eliminate it.
  12. Yeah, Burning Crusade does seem very interesting. I got a lv60 human warrior (shared by 2 other people) which was abandoned late year so if anybody from tip wants to level it, feel free to MSG... I can fork out the cash for the acc :P I can only play about 1-2 hours a day though, and some days 0.
  13. Just because it's snowing? ... When I went to school, it was often snowing and -20 and over celsius cold, (-13F) and nobody complained about coldness or 'it's too snowy'. On breaks everybody went outside to throw snowballs or build snowcastles. American kids should build some character :P
  14. Again, that's cultural. Where I come from, that's absolutely normal. In scandinavia it's not "funny" or "weird" for the husband to take the wife's surname. People don't really give a damn about that kind of things there. Yeah, I can imagine in a stereotypical conservative country like Spain or Greece, it would be a laugh for them to take the wife's surname (or even, for the wife not to take the husbands surname). Still, those (stereotypical) people in the example aren't thinking rationally. They're stuck in their macho image of life, largely caused by the culture.
  15. This post was reported for spam... Anyways, I doubt it's better unless you have the old MS Java on IE, otherwise they both use the same Sun java. The browser doesn't have much to do with it, unless it blocks the ads and makes it faster... That's technically against the Jagex rules though when I last checked them.
  16. Nothing can predict what you're "meant" to do, but you have faith in it so I can't argue with that. I'm fairly sure most people do choose their lives and paths instead of having some God pre-destine them.
  17. 1. Who are you?---Not your name or subjective opinions about you. Who are you? A person. No different from any other animal other than on a spiritual or intelligent level 2. What are you doing here?---Not at the computer. On Earth. What is the point of you living? Wont there always be someone to take your place? Living. You can always try to make up a purpose for your life if one is desperate or confused though. 3. What is your purpose?---This question is linked to number 2. Pretend there is a man behind you shouting "WHY" after everything you say. Look as deep as you can. Nothing. If I knew my 'purpose', that'd mean my life is predestined, which I don't really have 'faith' in. You can make decisions in life and take them as your 'purpose', such as raising your children. That's a self caused purpose billions of people share for example. P.S. I'm not an atheist or religious, I just try to be objective and realistic.
  18. Why do they need the centrifuges they which are only used for enriching uranium? Because, if you already didn't know, nuclear fuel needs an enrichment level of about 3.5%. Even peaceful scandinavian countries use nuclear fuel. They have even offered to send the uranium to be enriched in Russia or China if the US is suspicious, and they've yet to respond. Why shouldn't they be able to produce their own energy? Proof? You must know better than the Pentagon officials then, who have already said they don't even have the capacity to develop nuclear weapons for decades.
  19. Posts removed: This thread has no purpose if it starts all over from 1, then when the number is high again, it resets... :P Use a pen and paper if necessary.
  20. Not really, tens of thousands of teenagers actually commit suicide each year (in the world). That's not a part of life, that's a deeper problem.
  21. The American media is the only media in the world to use the phrase "The iranian nuclear weapons programme". No other country even uses that. If anybody thinks otherwise, would you kindly show any proof? The ayatollah, as stated, has issued a religious order prohibiting the production of any kind of nuclear weapons. This order cannot be broken in the country on the pain of death. Iran doesn't even have the capacity to enrichen uranium to a bomb level, 85-90%. Like again the post already said, even the US officials acknowledge they couldn't even get ahold of one in 10 years.
  22. Not even close. Just in Ukraine alone, military personnel and the mafia stole over $30 billion worth of nuclear weapons, tanks, assault helicopters etc. when the USSR collapsed, not to mention other 'satellite' nations who stole stuff as well. Nobody was 'loyal' enough. And Hohto, did you watch that movie about the US marine's diving division and it's first african american diver, finding a nuclear weapon in the sea... I can't think of anything else.. How did you get the idea to make the thread :P That popped in my mind.
  23. Then it would be ironic to force it to your wife in case she doesn't want it...
  24. Who do you think the members of those rebel factions are, Mahdi's army, brigades of Al-Sadr... They are people who were bred since birth to be terrorists and blow up anything that moves? ...No. Those organisations consist of normal citizens who hate having their country occupied. They have big popular support. Some representatives of those rebel organisations/factions even have legitimate power in the Iraqi parliament. How exactly do you think US soldiers die there? Just by car bombs and sneak attacks? They have to fight back the rebel factions daily because they're being attacked. The US has better equipment, but the rebels aren't entirely powerless as you can see from death statistics. ...Still, 55,000 civilian deaths, compared to what amount of rebel deaths, that openly fought US forces?
