  1. Wow, it's nice to see the old list being revived, haven't been to this post for long time (posting anyways) hope all the F2P and ex-F2P are doing well. Just wondering what's the minimum required level to get into the new list now? PS: Nice feature to see the nationality for each player, glad to see a few Canadians on top of the list (even though we don't have that many medals at Olympic).
  2. I actually agree partly jrhairychest and TOTALLY with Jonanananas. Even thouse I don't pay, I actually talk to others in gaming community how RS appeals to me. Simply because somehwere down your RS career, you will enter a competitive stage with someone when you hit certain combat level. I actually remember compete with this other player I met to the point we screen shot each others highscore every day to see how much xp we gained. When I started, I didn't even know about highscore existed, at least not for first few weeks, all I was doing was training and minding my own business. As I get to know the game a bit more, I actually start to use it to check out elite players like Zezima or Mendark 9 and using the highscore partly to determine if someone is a bot part due to abnormal xp categories (before I report them by accident) and to validate someone's stat if they could help with skill (again with skill lending, it's not really an issue anymore). Granted, none of that really applies now and it was back then. The solution can be solved by a simple tweak to the highscore by hiding the extremely long term inactive account, and reactivate them once the owner decide to come out of retirement. Basically, many of us old RS geezers, old time players, F2pers want it to stay around because the positive experience we had in past, present and future. But it will be totally up to Jagex to see what they want to do with it. Lastly, the pictures that I thought was gone is back, so here it is, linked curtesy by LordAdib [hide][/hide]
  3. What happen to that picture? I saw it this morning before head to work and wanted to save it when I come back. Even though pictures were poorly drawn, but it believer such a strong message (almost cried for some reason). I wish everyone in Runescape can see it. I am not sure if this is the reason Andrew isn't with Jagex anymore, seems how the game is going in the opposite direction the founders were intended. You mean this picture? Odd, it's there again. lol. It wouldn't show it on my computer yesterday, and I even went to the website that hosted the image to see if I can get it. I am saving it now. Thx man.
  4. You should have seen the pictures LordA posted in Top 250 F2p list thread, that pretty much sums it up, but its gone for some reason....within one day...anyone happen to save it? F2P was alive and kicking around 2005 to early 2006 or 07. If Jagex has implemented this bot nuke earlier, all those wildy and free trade removal wouldn't happen in the first place, among other big unpleasantness.
  5. Only time will tell if this move is right one or not, since most people that do cared about highscore are current player base. I suppose Jagex expect most people to move on, and new player that come in didn't know that highscore exist for everyone in the first place. I was so looking forward to being bumped up on the list due to removal of bots (not sure about inactive ones, since I consider some of them legends), but I guess I won't know because I am pure F2P........

  7. Well, you can't blame being such a low number of F2p player in all the servers because. The bot drove out legimate player and first timer because they overcrowd places Long term player stop playing or switch to member to avoid the bot issue Too many servers in the first place to support bots So Jagex pretty much did this to themselves in the first place, and they are trying to cut back the few redeeming point of F2p after they save it. The only thing they can do now is wait for the number to replenish themselves over time.
  8. If they do that, that will even be a stupider move than removing HS (and probably a game killing one). You can't really do much in RS with only 30 hour of playing, when time is up, they will not even thinking about sticking with the game let alone becoming a member in the future. On a second note, is there a 1k world out there? the one I book marked no longer works. I thought it would be a good idea to designate a top F2p world where I would see familiar faces from the Top F2p list. He said 30 days, not 30 hours ;) Oooo, my bad, didn't see that. But still, let's say its like a 30 day expiring nature, like if you start on Nov 1st, and it ends on Dec 1st. Then it isn't much time to play, unless its 30 days of playing time (24 hours X 30) then its better. Still, I would still quit if that happens, and so the rest of top F2p Player (probably a small amount migrate to P2p).
  9. TBH, every high lvl F2P get that kind of treatment when people encounter them, assuming they account shared or bought members due to their impossible high stats. Never in once they thought of dedication to the game, play smartly and efficiently, game becoming easier, and not just randomly making up accusation without solid proof. Sadly, thats how world works most of time.
  10. At least we still have F2P general discussion and F2p List thread to go to in Tip it, I found myself spending more time here than in game training, lol.
  11. Can this troll account please be removed from tif now that it has no use as a voice to get more people to use bots? As much as I hate Ring's post from time to time, but he does provide sad truth about general player's nature and the path that the game is going, even if it's brutally honest.

  13. The highscore options has always been there for P2p and F2p alike, no one said it was a premium feature that only P2p should have. If they did that in the past, I don't think RS would be as popular as they are now. Even though I am saying this because I have been a F2P for a long time, but there are other players who doesn't go as hardcore as I am, would like to know their progress and compare to their friends as f2p, as they have a chance to become P2p later. Even outside of RS, I often talk to other in gaming community about RS, and Jagex is removing their "good points" about their F2P content. If someone asked me how Runescape is, I would be like, well, they get rid of bots, thats good, but they also get rid of your achievement unless you pay. I think I can contribute to RS without paying for that fee, but advocate it through other means, so a word of mouth here (thats again, how they started), is a strong thing. IMO, playing Runescape is a total waste of time F2P or P2P (unless you run it like a background program) to anyone's life, but bottom line is you enjoy it (as many other have shared the same sentiment.) I always told others that you play the game you want to play, and removing a feature that makes it good in the first place IMO is taking away an integral part of the F2p content. (But I do agree that if you go P2p, you should stick with P2p) Overall, I still think Runescape F2P version is a great game, and Highscore was something that motivated me through my RS career, I can probably live by without it TBH, but it would not be the same without them in grand scheme of thing, especially for other F2p. Like many said, F2P content is pretty dry and basic, and removing one of the solid point (and always there feature), is defintely not a good move, if Jagex want RS to be "one of the best F2p" game there, then they should leave it as it is.
  14. The only advantage of this update to the f2p list is that whoever still stay on hs has must be a member raising f2p skill only lol
  15. Level 99 in f2p is not ashamed, we have to train slower method and put up with ad, which I click sometimes imo is my way of saying thanks to jagex. 30 hour of RS in f2p world and cap off after that, wow, good luck getting customer that way, RS ain't WoW, they can't be played this way. Just because you pay 5 bucks doesn't mean your high and mighty, you have more acess to content, and we f2P will have many handicapped which we don't mind unless you start taking away what was good in the first place. Community interaction, and that's something Jagex out to know for all the players not just paying one.
  16. We should have a referendum to see if player agree to remove f2p from highscore since they said.they wish player to compete with each other, hence its a.community based feature. So its not just a Jagex.money making scheme
  17. I can assure you that most of us f2p have enough fee to kept us going until we die, but we choose to stay f2p because we see it as different challenges. I thought it was a success that Jagex could get rid of bot and dice game for good but taking away an existing feature for f2p to increase potential membership sale is.sad. there are better way to make money, but def not this way. I am thankful for.Jagex. (the one Andrew intended) to make this game, but the new Jagex seems to care about the money than community. To make a game that's so community based is not to alienate them, but also embrace some aspect even for some small lost in revenue but gain lots on the future.
  18. I will follow someone's advice and take a scrn shot of my stats to commerate what I accomplished. But I will still play the game. It would feel such a lost without the list and highscore was a driving force for me to stay f2p and compete with other f2p. I will still play, but lost respect for Jagex and perhaps spend some time talking to other f2p in the top f2p clan chat.
  19. But they already have increase the hardware spec for the game couple days ago, which means some players would have to play at laggy fps. Also, the graphics imo has improves Significantly. I think its hard to introduce an idea that will fit everyone's interest unless we can make RS more dynamic, like different sever for fifteenth city or some sort of common event happening all over the server. Someone mention this idea tor stop the bot, like a plague, and only legit player can do it properly. But this idea can turn into a game aspect as well.
  20. I personally like ice giant, got like many k of laws from them (in fact still using them now) they have low defense and other good drop like nats and shields and addy arrows, if you don't mind icy wars for awhile, or just get Cbt 115
  21. I think both articles are pretty well done and has their own points, which most of us can relate or experience sometimes during our RS and RL time. I haven't been scammed once in my RS career, some had tried, but I quickly back out if things seems fishy. Then again, my choice of playing was really just training, so not much trade interaction going on anyways. I have manage to keep a few good friends on RS over the years of playing, even most of them have quit or stopped talking regularly like we used to. I guess for some people, once you hit a certain stage in the game, you sort of realize that "quality" is more important than "quantity", and its better to stick with ones that truly connects with you. Overall, whether it was Counstrike or Runescape or any other video games, that took huge chunk of time in m life, I agree with the author that I don't regret my decision doing it. I hate anything business related with a passion, but it was through RS, I learned a bit about economy, albeit not a realistic one, but at least it got me interested enough to start looking into it. I have learn to be more patience, and more understanding when it comes to talking with people, and different culture and their perspective. I also made friends from over the world and hearing their stories. Be more organized, and task setting and reaching the goals effectively, was another thing I learned through RS training. With the second article, I never find RS to be a hard game, and I really consider it as a grinding game. I have often asked by others (or vice versa), what the opinion is between RS and other games. At the time, since I only play Counterstrike (almost same degree of enthusiasm at one point, spend at least 4 hrs per day on it). I can tell that one is a skill, and one is mostly "time" game. But interestingly enough, I still learn through both games, but I also learn how to play through each games weak point. When I play games, I prefer not to think about it too much (hence I tend to do quests or holiday event quickly), but at the same time, I find some activities in the game soothing. I used to go woodcutting and fishing when reading school books, with sound effects on, imagine myself actually among the forest and beside the river or sea instead of at my desk. It somehow helps to ease the boredom of reading, and getting xp at the same time (and I don't ignore other people in game, at least try not to). I think overall, each different games has each own merit (RS has F2P version, which has pretty big content compare to other games I have played), and to compare them to each other is like other have said, orange and apples. The main thing is, is how we all started this game with nothing but few nooby items and the mindset of a explorer/merchant/warriors. The starting point is the same with all the players, eventually we will all choose our own paths in RS and RL, but the memories of good time will not fade, and into the heart of thousands.
  22. Actually bots don't bother me much personally. They have only made my life easier due to low raw material prices. Only bot-infested skill left for me is mining and I have done most of my 89 levels in wilderness without any bots. Everything has become cheap. If we compare different sill costs to get 99 - prayer is now 2x cheaper, with 250m coins saved. 250m is alot money in f2p. I think maybe 0,1% of f2p players even have that kind of money. Wc might be tricky, but I managed to train it 99 before bot invasion. Although I admit that bots are big problem, but there is many positive effects at individual level. I thought bots were quite problematic before 2007 changes and restrictions. I remember the annoyance they caused while training many resourced related skills. and even though indirectly, they also affect prices in short term and long term for most players. I remember big bones were about 250ea - 300 ea when I start playing, and has remain quite steady untill introduction of GE and restrict trades. So the fluctuation of the prices actually didn't change much (in term of original price), but the way it was affected, shows how bots' impacts on the game over the years.
  23. @Plasma Always nice to hear stories of people beat lurer/scammer at their own game. Unfortunately, many people are still prone to this type of decieving action.
  24. Maybe screen shot the Excel spreadsheet, and put it on an image server somewhere?
  25. Hmmm, I used to use Bronze all the time and picking them up and somehow stumbled my way to lvl 99 range. I did used about 10k addy arrows just for kicks, but they were all from icy giants. I still remember the days where I spend 5 hours world hopping buying bronze arrows after the world reset, good times (oh yeah, manage to buy 25k bronze or something, but was so sleepy, kind of crazy went through all the world servers).
