  1. Actually, that would be a hard task to program such a bot, since the bots they report has to be genuinely a bot. So the complexity of such a program would eliminate most of the bot problem, and then Jagex just have to investigate the one that make too much report with odd traits (no lvls, stay on 72 hours just to report bots), and then ban those one. Problem solved....well, sort of.
  2. This is just my observation, but I notice several player that has low combat lvl but just enough DG lvl to enter the resource dungeon. At first, it was just going after addy and mith like crazy (it knows the moment one spawns up, and I can't even tell that fast). Then, to my astonishment, it went after the runite ores too, turn out it has 92 mining as well. (Reported, but god knows how many of them out there). Another thing I noticed is that at the hill giant place in Edge Ville dungeon, most players would quietly go after the hillies, kill ones, and move on to the next one, no one was talking at all. Actually, they don't even bother pick up their drops (I got full inventory of big bones in about 3 minutes....plus handful of limpwurt root), but then, some players would rarely hit giants, and go for the drop instead, and constantly went back to bank. (So if you want to have fun, half kill a giant, and let rest of them kill for you and get the loot. I also grab some law and air runes for telekinetic grab just for kicks, it is good place to train prayer and make good money, of course, I would report the funny ones at the end of the day, and if they are legit, they would object when you play disruptively, sadly, none of them did....) Makes me wonder if they actually make one bot to kill and leave the resource behind, and one specifically design to collects and gather. It's hard to tell who is legit too since many of them have quite ok names. I wouldn't dare to look at mining guild or yew places, or lobs fishing place, coz it will probably make me depress even more.
  3. [spoiler=Previous quotes] Player Moderators are not forced to do anything different while playing the game. Just because they have the power to report does not mean they should. People who call Player Mods to come do something are the most irritating people in the game, "I know a Pmod I'll get them". As a Player Moderator myself there is very very few occasions where I'd go somewhere and do something for the sake of taking action against somebody, it would have to be a very extreme case that needs urgent attention to stop a risk of safety for others. Also, use your ignore list. I've told you many times before yet you seem to have a problem doing that and always complain about people continuing on saying/doing bad things. Your ignore list exists for a reason, use it. I always wanted to be a PMod. I probably would have non-stop bot hunted/scammer muted in w2. Shame, instead they seem to have given the position to more people who will mute you for saying the F word than people who actually do something. You aren't forced to do anything different, but you should. If you aren't going to don't accept the [bleep]ing modship. Afaik Player Mod reports for bots aren't handled any differently than normal players reporting them, so it doesn't matter who reports them in that case. Your attitude is the exactly opposite of what makes a good player mod. There are better ways of dealing with things than reporting every single person you see for doing the smallest stuff. Going out of your way to find these people is not why I play this game. I use my "powers" when the need arises, I don't go looking for reasons to use it and in my opinion no mod should. As far as I know, that statement is completely and utterly false. It's true that a player mod does not have to go out of his or her way to constantly seek out bots and report them all the time. Otherwise, it would be a "full time" job. I am sure if some are training a skill, and notice quite a few, they will report them along the way. But they have no obligation to do anything even if they are player mod (it is up to them if they want to exercise their power, which is pretty much a temp mute). Of course, in the public eye, they "have" to do something, otherwise they shouldn't be deserving of their status. Still, some people forget that player moderator can also help players in game by giving them advice (and probably that's how they get picked in the first place), and not simply Jagex Volunteer Police force that goes out and patrol the entire Gielinor. Clearly, most player forget that they have the power to report other who break rules, not just player mod. To my knowledge, every time a player object to something or ask player moderator some questions, their answer can often be found in knowledge base section, and when the mods tell them how to look for it at the RS site, mostly of them would say they are too lazy.....good grief. I bet if Jagex start something like a Bot Busting GP credits, you get 500gp for every bot you report, the entire RS would be bot free in less than a week. Mind you, someone might just make a bot do just that to get even more money........lol
  4. One of my top F2P friend is supposedly close with Tez, and he told me that she play many hours in one day (more than ten hours, maybe 12 to 15?) to get there So it is entirely possible. We all know that past F2p legends like Galaxygy and Mendark9's stats used to be amazing, and people wondering if they bot or been members before because they rarely talk and the speed of them getting their xp. Overall, at the end of the day, we can't really tell if they are pure F2P. Actually, I am sure when we fellow F2P walking around, most players would assume we are or were members because of the levels and experience we have achieved. But we all know better, you just have to sit there and train, train..............and TRAIN. I do congratulate on someone achieving such a hard goal, but at the same time I don't overly glorify it because the number of hours they have to spend to get there (be more modest I usually say, because in the end, you are still doing nothing of importance). Just my 2 cents.
  5. Well, you don't get any cash back in return, so you pretty much HAVE to listen to Suak to get the most out of it. Also, bone yard rocks. Just sayin'. Considering that smithing in the past waste tons of money, this update pretty much make it equivalent to cooking............and its easier because you can simply smith your own item without listening to Suak since you don't have to pay attention at all (that's worth not listening to him in the long run, in my case, do tax return at the same time). It's a true bargain considering how people use to train in the past, I pretty much superheat all my bars (from lvl 78 to lvl 96 with addy or mith bars, nearly have constant finger cramp from too much clicking, and best I could do is roughly 1k bar per hour). I remember I used to mine tons of coal and tons of iron from places that's no where near banks, and smelting them into steel bars, did like 30k of them too, no idea where I got the patience to do all that in the past.....players these days sure have them easy. Then again, coal were 150, and iron were 90ea when I was playing. Best way is simply to either buy the ores, or mine the ores yourself (since you mostly want mining 99 anyways), I just do it at the iron site beside the mining guild, and dump all the irons I mine at the nearby resource dungeon.
  6. I dropped out of top 100 years ago, feel bad about for it awhile. Then again you really can't do much about it, coz real life priorities comes first. That's the thing about the list, you will drop if you stop training. I always thought you will only masters your RS lvls if you do well in RL as well, heck, owning your own real house (not RS one) and car, beats all the skill capes any day.
  7. Strangely enough, its Isthatok managing the list now, not AURA........and I would say their names are more interesting in its own right....
  8. I did made some smelting urn and just superheat bunch of mith bars at the same time, pretty good xp, except u have to teleport the urns once in a while. The good thing about no cap GE is that I can make it 10 to 15 percent higher, people would still buy, just a little bit slower.....
  9. Funny thing happen the other day while I was superheating in Varrock west bank, this guy was advertising this clan where you can get 1 month of member credits and rare member weapon to any passerby. At the same time, there are other "people" pretend to be the beneficiaries of this clan and keep trying to backing up that claim. Of course anyone would spot a potential scam but it did gathered up a crowd of people asking. Half way through, the guy spot a high lvl player super heating on the side and called out his name. What comes after that is totally hilarious. High lvl player: "I have been here for about 10 minutes" High lvl player: "Plus everyone else was watching too...." High lvl player: "Just so you know....." Normally, that advertising guy wouldn't care, except the high lvl was a player mod. After that little comment, the poor guy was silent for next 10 minutes....whether he got temp muted or decide to shut up I hve no idea....
  10. For the 2010 Xmas event, we unlock Seasonal Sport and Christmas Cavern? I noticed that F2P actually get lots of sound track over the years. Is it possible for us to get 500 of them and unlocked the air guitar which is only available to member at this point?
  11. I believe this picture is from 2006. I think you're correct. >.< I believed Verie's screenie was from 2006, and mine was taken on Sept 2006. My friend actually found Mendark making airs in that particular world. I had to change world and go where he is to screen shot. Strangely enough, my photos and Verie's photo doesn't look that much different. Me and my friend were trying to get him to talk, but he never did, and he was air rcing for 4 hours straight. I think I was lvl 110 at that time, and my friend was lvl 100, I guess even our lvls weren't enough to entice him to talk. Lol
  12. So just to double check to see if I got all the rewards, emote, and music. You unlock the Seal of Approval Emote You also get that exploding snowman thingy Also the Santa Head Crab (HL2) hat Also not really relate to the Xmas event, but the Golden Cracker (or Hammer) I only got 2 music track unlocked, is that it? I can't even remember what music I unlocked. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. Even though its a bit short (I think I finished it in less than 10 minute, its really fun nevertheless.
  13. Woah, can't believe this post get left behind on page 3. I guess most people post stuff in F2p discussion thread now. and Verie, you are not the only one playing paparazzi Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  14. The first article definitely relate to many players out there, everyone one gotta be a noob at one point. Even when you have high skills or a lot of experience, you are bound to be a noob when something new came out. I remembered the days I met Syzygy in Ice cave while training on my melee skills, the chat with him was brief but it was very inspiring (plus I was training whole night, so I can clearly remember that moment because I was having hard time typing on the keyboard due to mental fatigue). The things I enjoy nowadays is visit my old training spots, and do the things I used to do as a young player while taking a break from training. I still enjoy RS these days, but I definitely feel that the old RS days (05 to 07) is really where the whole game flourished. And Syzygy, if you are reading the forum sometimes, just so you know, slaying the dragon at lvl combat 97 is pretty impressive, but I am still trying to achieve harder goal than that (well, lets just say long time). Studded hide and rune chain still my best friends.
  15. Best of luck Ani, though I am sure we will see you around once in a while during the holiday and other special events. I actually play way less compare to what you mentioned, and all I did was just to go on RS to get food hamper from the Lumby cook.......I think I average around 2 hours per week now. Still, I won't really give up RS that easily, because I know I will be in for the long haul, but at least its more manageable compare to pure training before.
  16. That was about 1 or 2 years ago where zombies, shade or other high level randoms would come out and attack you. Of course, now it's mostly harmless random event that either note your stuff or teleport u to some odd places. Besides, it still alright that you keep an eye on ur RS screen while watching video in the vicinity (in the same room, where you can still reach the keyboard), which I would refer to as AFS (away from RS tab or window). As oppose to AFK, where you are not in the same room and doing other stuff. One of my friend lost some good armors back then when he was too busy reading stuff on RuneHQ, and killed by a river troll (he was pretty shocked to see himself end up in Lumby. I actually enjoy fighting the randoms as they drop good stuff sometimes, got a few rune pick and rune bar from golems. Rune axe from tree sp. Tons of big bones from Zombie.
  17. That's a lot of planning for simple skills like combat. I remember I just walk to ice cave where the ice giants are, and fish lobster on the way. All I did was bring my full rune gear, lobby pot, fire staff, natures runes and some gp for ship fare. Usually good yield of profit and moderate xp back then. At least most of the stuff ice giants dropped are stackable or alchable. I would say that half of my other non combat skills are all fueled by the runes and gp from ice giants (still use the laws I gathered almost 3 years ago) In fact, I never afk on skill like combat since randoms might pop out and attack you, and places like those are usually filled with other people, just feel not right if I don't response when they ask me questions. (Also a common spots for Top F2p to hang out back then)
  18. I second that. He would like a drop box by the dock on Karamja as he feels it would benefit F2P players. I think by adding Stiles there is pretty much adding a drop box there. Recently, I just use the cabbage ring and then tele to drop box and then bank it. In the older days, I just Fally tele. In the really old days, I just walk..... I personally don't think Jagex should add more things to make F2p easier, it kind of devalue the sense of being a F2p (true to that statement since we don't pay the game, so no extra benefits, but as well, most people consider F2p "harder" again, totally for interpretation) F2p will be happy with whatever Jagex decide to spare on the side.
  19. Got tons of nat, laws, and cosmic from Ice giants too. Great place to train at Ice cave if you are combat lvl 115 (no more bugger Ice warriors, but I hit those anyways)
  20. For F2p higher levels. Or better yet, only limit non member (not even once) F2p on it. Or we should set up a system like someone mentioned here, you need to have 1500 levels, plus 150mil total xp to get it. lol (This entire thing is of course being really sarcastic and only meant to be a joke) I think I agree with that higher level players should not need a higher level world, because it would create some form of unjust among other players (more resource and stuff). But I know a lot of people use those worlds not for better resource, they simply want peace and quiet (not all the time, but most of the time) In reflection to the hours per day playing part, don't forget that RS been running for almost 10 years. People with high stats or levels, or xp tend to play a lot, or used to play a lot sometime during their RS life. I think only very few one that plays to the point where their life becomes completely unbalanced. Of course I am not the one to lecture people, I used to play a lot (8 hours per day for 1.5 years), but slow them down once real life kicks in (jobs, mortgages and other mis things). I don't really regret the hours I spend in RS, because it was the fun and that's what it count (responsible for your own action so to speak).
  21. It's also flip side of the coin, most of us would know its a joke, but for greater consequences, some other players might not consider it to be one. Especially those who are new to RS and just try to stick to the rules. For the most part, I know some people would be saying stuff that's totally against the rules, and then throw a quick response of "just kidding" to annual what they just said. Why do it if its against the rules? I think the more appropriate action for this case would be without the mute, but some sort of warning message from Jagex with a screen shot of incident, stating something like "even though your intention was not malicious in any way, we recommend you to take some indirect approach with similar incident in the future" Just my 2 cents
  22. I know a few P mods, and some of them actually give you a few warnings statements before they take actions. P mods are regular players too, so by your statement, once people become P mods, they lose the ability to detect sarcasm and just report abuse machines.
  23. You should have dressed up as one of the random event character, and mimic one of their entry scene, then no one would questions your authenticity .... Great article one the first one, I would really like to go if they ever do one in Canada. Second article was more of an opinion, and I think its been discussed in the forum various times. I agree with some extent what the author means, but while we grind, we usually do other stuff anyways like chatting to other people on RS to help pass the time. To me, that's pretty fun, and many people do take breaks now and then with other fun RS activities when they want something different.
  24. I didn't know he was a member of Tip it forum. Only time I ever see him was at one of the world making air runes. You think those old legends would come back at least once in a while to do holiday event or something.
  25. If F2p can get that, then I rather camp out at those goblins houses in Lumbridge. They are pretty much 1 hit kills.
