So you've been around the block?
You can take the hard drive out if its still good and use some sort of adapter to make it into a storage drive and plug it into pc like a regular USB jump drive. If hard drive dies, there are ways to partially recover it by either software programs or send it to a data recovery team, but of course latter cost quite a bit of money. Not sure if you want to try that unless its really important

Why female players are underepresented in RuneScape?
Its two side of the mirror, there are always guys say something about girls, and girls saying something about guys. Essentially, we are kind of arguing about the same thing in circles.

Why female players are underepresented in RuneScape?
I hate Minesweeper. And last time I looked, I'm a girl. Girls tend to do better on harder thinking games like Minesweeper, guys do better with Half Life because we just point and shoots, not much thinking. That being said, I play Counter Strike with some female gamers, and their skill is just as good as any male players, all it takes is practice. She even show me her gaming gears and anyone seen those pic would think she is a guy instead because of the G series Logitech keyboard, mouse, expensive headset, and freaking huge gaming grade mouse pad.

Why female players are underepresented in RuneScape?
I think The Sims is targeted toward both genders, young and old, its very easy to get addicted to that kind of game no matter who you are. For the most part, I think there are more girls playing online games like Runescape or WoW compare to other game categories like first person shooter. I know a number of players on my list are females, but I don't think there would be any gender difference because there is no way you can tell if other party is male or female unless you know them in real life. Even if you do know their true gender, what difference does it make? If they are on your friend list, that means you deem them worthy of staying on at least. I once met a few "cross dresser", guys pretend to be girls to get free stuff from their "bfs" and girls pretend to be guys to get bugged less often. So its totally on one's own perspective and general norms that you need to be this to do that and such. I remember one of my funniest time in my RS life was during a trip to yew trees at Remmington, I was wearing full monk with a blue mage hat (but a guy character with long hair). This guy walks by and greeted me and said, howdy lvl 124, and then he said I am hot because of my long hair (my character has long black hair since I leave my hair all the way down to near waist in real life when I made him). After realizing his mistake that my character is a guy, he quickly apologize to me and run off, lol. Game wise, I think I am bound by 2 mentalities that first video games will always be more of a guy thing just because the way we been brought up. But after meeting more girl gamers, I am also changing my own view on whole social norm thing.

I like this sort of thread, and I know people probably seen tons of those already, but they got bumped off frequent enough for people to make new ones. One of the earliest moment I remember was seeing 2 P2p chopping yew by the yew trees near Edgeville bank. The Black gold trim plate body and plate skirt worn by female character was so cool plus the flower and the cavalier hat match so perfectly that I asked the character not to move so I could take a screenie. (of course the other dude was like, quick move away so he can't ss you) I was wearing full steel and acting completely newbish. I thought I was pretty old school since I started 5 years ago, but looking at other peoples reply made me realize that I wasn't around that long at all (wish I could start earlier and got the rubber chicken at least)

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
I don't suppose that anyone make some sort of chart for F2P rank world distribution (like 30 percent of Top F2p is from US, etc etc) I remember something similar but not quite the same.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
I never had any issues with bank space as F2P, mainly because: I don't buy any trim or god armours Skills that hit 99 would also means I no longer need the materials Like many other said, I buy tinderbox and mis items from general store when I need them The time when I might need extra bank space if they keep introducing holiday items or random event clothes that you can't destroy (you either can't get it back or bother not to, like mime clothes and things) I usually sell uncut gems when they hit a certain number or when I stop by GE. I do admit that the need to unload everything in bank during dungeoneering does strain the strategy a bit if your near limit after all.

For combat, lvl 54 skeletons on cranor was THE spot to train at. The only other comparable place would be graveyard in wild, both sometimes used the "open lots of windows so rs is super laggy lagging you out every min or so(whistle)" to get around the standing still timer. edit; pre dragon slayer I would have to guess ice warriors, black knights were kinda popular, and red spiders. GalaxyG and Ho<randomnumbers> both used to train at the black knight fortress, on the guards. Then it means there probably wasn't many things to train with back then, or they simply want something that's abundant and available. I used to train with zombies and skeletons before combat 70, and switched to hobbies from 70 to 92, then after 93 just purely ice giants. Did some at lessers and mossies but stop figuring that the xp and drop weren't really that great in comparison..

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Too many people like to judge others by their appearances. I always wear studded body and studded chaps when I train non combat skills, and with an air tiara (plus those boots and gloves from stronghold, and ghost speak necklace). When people saw my outfit, they would often ask me, "why is a lvl 124 wearing such a nooby outfit, did you get hacked or something" or "wheres your trimmed armors". That being said, my usual reply is: I am just training a non combat skill, not running for Runescape Next Top Model (plus I can't wear them anyways). Unless a random event boss monster appears (which they don't anymore, shame, or else I would wear full Monk robes), it's totally impractical to wear such heavy or extravagant Armour (plus I don't want to stand out, people usually stay quite until they hover their mouse over player and noticed a bright red lvl 124 among the crowds, and next thing you know, a series of comments ensues).

I never seen him before, but I heard of him from other longer playing high F2P friend. Apparently he trains tons and pretty much everything you said here matches what he used to do. Bear in mind that I start playing mid 2005, so that must means he quit before that. Furthermore, he train before all those updates implemented, so that must means the xp/hr he get must be astonishing compare to present training (maybe 10hrs per day at least). One thing for sure, that he rarely, if ever talks. But that's kind of the same with Mendark 9 when I met him during my training days, 4 straight hours of rcing airs, and not a word said when I ask him questions.

Macroing & Bots :'(
The economy was stable before bots appeared, at least back in 2005 to early 2007 time. During that time, I only seen bots in mining guild here and there and it was easier to report them. I seen tons of people fishing and trading all the time at their respective places back in the days. I assume there is a delay when the trade done through players and merchant at trading world (which GE is almost instantaneous), so that kind of serve as a buffer to fishermen obtaining the fish. When the bots came, they totally messed up mean prices, forcing real hard working people to compete with them both in spot and drop in price (or they just stop all together and move on something else more profitable). If the bots leaves, the price will shoot up for a while and normalize to a point again. Or we could simply limit the amount of items per player traded in one day to allow that buffer to kick. Except many players would whine. Bottom line: Thanks to the updates, game got easier to train, people got used to the conveniences, when it was removed or changed, most of them complain.

Have you had the screen black out while mining in mining guild dungeon?
I have a Nvidia card and it did the same thing nevertheless. I switched my setting to D3D when option came out and I thought D3D looks smoother. After I change back to OpenGL, no more crashing appears and it looks smoother as well.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
IMO, lvl 3 and high lvls (lvl 120+) even at the extreme end of spectrum get treated badly sometimes by ignorant players (more if you are a player mod it seems). I think people usually jump into this omg a lvl 3, he must be a botter mode when they spot one (or a lvl 124s, he must have no life). Things be told, its just another way to enjoy the game, I personally met some skillers with good attitudes and good personality while working their way to their goals. I usually don't go to GE because that's where a lot less nice people are and tend to be "over dramatic" with their stats and view on things. Not just lvl 3, any lvls would suffice. Given a example, I was mining at the resource dungeon on 1k total world. A lvl 103 came in and start mining all the mith on one side, since I was just mining for fun and chatting friends at the same time, I wasn't paying much attention to him. Until I start mining mith ores, then he asked me to mine runite and addy only and leave all the mith ores to him............ I was like.......eh............ First thing came to my mind, when you mine, all bets are off, you don't ask people to mine certain part of the field, if u get the ores, u get it, if not, move on to next one. 2nd thing was that this was suppose to be lvl 1k world I don't have to deal with that kind of attitude since people with high lvl tend to be more mature 3rd thing, lvl 103 seems like a new players desperately asking for something....... Anyways, after several attempts at making those " high lvls think they can do anything comment," the guy promptly jumped to another world......

Who Am I?
So you're an elf and we need to get a life? I'm not sure I understand... First thing that came the my mind..............the heck........... I don't understand what he/she is talking about at all. Anyways, looking at your stat Saru, I think you still have long way to go, not sure if you will max out any time soon. I am on my way to max out f2p lvl 99 all too (and cursed that dungeoneering lvl 120) plus one side quest, it might not be next few months or even years, but someday I will get there. And then, I will camp in wildy and watch Revs floats by for no reason.

An Intelligent Perspective On Botters
You mean India right? You're only allowed one child in most areas of China so your opinion is rather outdated. I am sure even with the one child policy enforced, people still having difficult time following that type of rule due to cultural upbringing and influences. That point aside, I do learn a lot of things from this thread, even though I still think botting messed up the game as a whole. But seeing how everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that's usually how the world goes.

Runescape withdrawl symptoms?
My view exactly, it's all in the sense of self control. I was really addicted to RS back in 2005 to 2007 time, playing but oddly enough studying at the same time (benefits of reading while training stat). Now I am done college and start working in the field result in smaller RS time, but I still play frequent enough to keep myself energized for work and other things. One of the goal I set for myself when I started this game was that I will never quit RS and never have my life unbalanced by it, still able to retain it to this day. Literally, "you can bake the cake, and eat it too". PS: The game also help me to understand some basic economic flow and make friends from all over the world, and I actually use those as topics when I am with my clients/patients

Have you had the screen black out while mining in mining guild dungeon?
I experienced it on the 2nd days the resource dungeon came out. Happen several times in the mining guild's one. I solved the problem (at least for me), by changing the D3D setting in the graphic setting to OpenGL. Never had a problem since.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
If I was pure f2p, attempting to get on the top 250 list would probably be my only motivation to play. That and PKing, FoG, and Clan Wars. I don't think I could just level mining or woodcutting in f2p for the sake of leveling. I set that goal for myself before I know the list existed. But motivation aside, I enjoy talking to different people and working on totally weird tasks there and here for enjoyment. For example, going to Lumbridge castle and gather materials and make stew for no reason. Killing chicken and gathering eggs to make cake for no reason. Talking to some random NPC for fun for no reason. Walking from Al Karid to Varrock for no reason. Going to wildy and explore for no reason. Pretending and dress like highway man and shout exact same quote they would say to scare new passerby for no reason. See, tons of things to do All in a day's work of lvl 124 relaxing doing totally useless things to enjoy RS from a nonchalant POV.

Wtf happened?
Your right, I dont have that money to work with this anymore. I chose to improve my skills instead of my bank and appearance, thats why I sold my partyhat. If you want to continue you can pm me, but it seems like the topic questions have been answered. Yeah I personally never saw a point in investing in rares, except for flipping it maybe if you can. I usually put my money into skilling and useful items. That's pretty much my outtake on things, the whole idea with more money is to fund them into skill to hit lvl 99 all. I seen some friends merchant their way to phat and mask sets, but now they don't play much anymore, kind of defeat the purpose of rares in the first place since they originally want to use it on prayer or something (it does look good).

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
Awesome Firemaking experience. :P I thought Philip was already on the list long time ago, unless he was bumped off at some point. I guess I better work my way toward 1.5k total to guarantee a safe spot on the list, lol

The F2P General Discussion Thread
When I started in mid 2005, I manage to get 40+mil xp in just 6 months, maybe it was sheer determination, or one time addiction, but its doable. The sad truth is that you just have to spend a lot of time on it (luckily, I spend a lot of those time reading too). The game always revolve around grinding, no escaping that, we just grind a lot faster now. The old trick how to figure out that you can grind faster and more efficient than other people. Half way through my goal, I realize that once everyone hit the same objective, we will just grind for max xp, that makes me set my goal to lvl 99 all. Mining will always be the hardest, in fact, if you look at skill that need a lot of attention, and tons of clicking, it will always be harder to train than anything else. I think we will see a big change in high score for mining these days due to resource dungeon update (and mining is also my least fav, but I somehow grudgingly train it to 95+) @Anim7, perhaps they can raise it a bit higher, but I really doubt they will since its on the other side of mining guild, so I assume it's for lower lvl player mostly. 65 is a bit too harsh IMO, getting used to Dungeoneering and their xp system is a pain, and it might be too much for lower lvl player. I thought someone mentioned that they want to make iron access easier to indirectly reduce the price on GE? The good thing I would say if we raise it higher would prevent autoers going there and have time of their life mining and depositing away.

Skilling to save large amount of cash, and then merchant with them. Skilling would include fishing, wood cutting, mining, etc etc. I recommend try each one and calculate how many xp/cash per hour. Find the one that gives you best cash or xp rate or both. then stick with it. once you generate enough cash, then merchant in GE. I find WC and fishing to be easiest, given that they don't need too much attention, iron ore is good for skilling and cash for now, before the price drop I guess. However, since I don't merchant, hopefully some guys here can give you tips on those. I have a F2P friend who just make steel bar and use that cash to merchant, from santa hats to masks, and lastly to phat, pretty wild achievement consider he is a F2P (and his stat weren't really high compare to high F2P). But anyone start from nothing to a yellow phat back in 2006 was pretty good if you ask me. (Now he has like few santa hat, set of masks, and few phats, and only play like one hour each day to observe the market, or trade when necessary)

What's wrong with bank deposit box? The price of iron ore currently is way over priced anyways, they were about 100 ea (75ea when I started) before the crazy inflation. Its a good idea if you want train mining fast, or simply deposit your coal from mining guild. In fact, get your fire and nat runes, mine the iron ore, then go to guild mine the coal and superheat and dump the steel bar in the deposit box, the possibility of staying there until both smith and mining hit 99 is a good idea if you ask me. The fact that all those new (anything happen within recent 2 years) updates are making F2P a lot more easier should be under "what were they thinking????"....................Try RS in earlier time like 2004 to 2006, I don't even know how most of us manage to achieve what we did back then

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
No need to get testy dude lol... just a simple, fair question. What do mothers always say? If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all, please. I don't feel that he is being testy (at least from my POV). Purely from a F2P POV, I think that your character would need to be always F2P and never member before since people mentioned in the past as "pure" F2P. So its either member all the way, or F2P all the way. Personally, I think skillcape is over rated, I still use the method to tell if a high lvl is P2p or Ex p2p by looking if they have skill cape or not. You can tell if a player have some lvl 99s when he is lvl 120 plus, not to mention there is good old high score. If you have skillcape, people would ask you to perform the emote all the time too.......

The F2P General Discussion Thread
I am not sure if anyone has the same problem, but does their RS crash when they were in the mining guild's resource dungeon. I went in today upon getting dungeoneering 45, great, mine a few runite, mith and addy for fun, then all of a sudden, the Java client just stopped and everything went pitch black (well, within the Mozzi Fox window, not the entire OS). I never have the same problem before while doing the actual dungeon skill, not sure if it's some graphic bug or computer issues. My apologies if this is in hardware trouble shooting section. For the record, that place totally rocks (no pun intended), no more going to wildy to mine runite ores, but 10 minutes there and I already seen at least 10 people hop in and out. The deposit box in the darwven mine is awesome too, now I can just use that when I mine some iron for fun. Hillies resource is not bad, I can see good big bones xp there, but I am still wondering why Jagex would put the Demanheim resource dungeon on the island and cutting maple and willow in the middle of nowhere (it just doesn't make any sense geographically and logically).
