The F2P General Discussion Thread
You do have to take into the consideration of buying and selling airs, and essence and repeat several times after you crafted them. Also try to approximate them by hour since your hand will get tired from all that clicking (it will be nice if they have a sell all instead of sell 50). Not to mentioned you have to raid the dungeon first to get that initial cash. I use the xp counter and just stay there for 1 hour, and I don't think it even exceed 2k (maybe I was off) after all those buying selling, crafting and repeat. So I come down to the conclusion that its better to just rc out there in the altar overall. Maybe I will try again with Fire and redo my math again to get a more approximate value. PS: If you suddenly have a connection lost for more than minute, then you are kind of screwed, which happen to me several times already. If you raid dungeon alone I mean.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
Actually, I am thankful that someone decide to keep it updated, its a lot of work, and I am not sure if anyone else is up to the task.

What do F2Pers actually deserve?
It's funny how you mentioned that in the post before that Prayer should get a little bit easier and on your 2nd post you wish Jagex could leave it alone so its would stay challenging, kind of contradicting a bit. If we travel back to 4 years ago when there is no GE, and everyone has to shout to buy items, it will be even harder than now. On another note, the game does get easier, even for F2P, if we want anything that get even easier, it really wouldn't be F2P anymore. Its pretty much what you mentioned, out of all the skill the one that's actually remain hard is mining. If you want to see a better or a true F2P example, look at Mendark 9's stat, he got all of that before any of those major updates started. If he can get all that without the benefits of recent updates, I am sure most of us can get there too. "F2P style"

Don't you think it's kinda lame and arrogant to have Private Chat set to 'Friends'?
While I don't think there is a right answer to this kind of discussion, but I will put in some of my thought here. When I was a new player to RS, I set my chat to ON all the time. I wanted to make friends and I wanted to help people with things I learned, life was good and everyone is enjoying each others company. As my level rose through the ranks, I started to notice some people I add just want to ask for free things, or they want to add you simply because your combat or total lvl is high. Even once in a while, after my combat hit lvl 100 plus, I would go out of my way to spend hours on end trying to help out new players with quest and money making tips, but for the most people, they wanted me to give them something for free one thing after another. Now due to the fact my combat level is high, majority of the people see me as a high level and not another individual, I started to get random PMs from people either dissing at my combat level or asking for free things. Sometimes, some people even get offended when I don't reply fast enough because there are quite a number of people I talked on the same time, as the time goes on, I turn the friend list to friends or off when I am training. Fast forward to now, I rarely add anyone now (add like 6 in past 3 years) and never leave the chat to on, because the moment I turn it on, some odd people add me in the past will either ask for free things or making odd demands (some even say, hey if you quit, can I have your acc?). I also had some personal reason to change it to friend because disagreement with certain friend. The funny thing is, I keep all the friends I added in the past right to when I first started (until I decide to remove them because they come back as some other people, they either sold or give it to someone else), even though most of them never come on again. I also set my friend list to on for few months because I accidentally delete a few people when the name change update happened, so they can add me back later on. While doing that, random PMs started to pop up, and I decide to change it back to friends after certain grace period. In the end, I don't think you can really generalize one idea to everyone, its like one shoes doesn't fit all. Not everyone shares the same philosophy. I don't think its lame and arrogant for people to change their PM to friends because they all have legitimate reasons. For those that leave it on and want to help others, that's alright too. You can do whatever you want to play the game that you enjoy.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
It was really useful when you can still get a good xp from RC before they decide to nerf the xp rate for RC. I tried it for a while hopefully to get a good amount of xp for smith and crafting, but give it up after way too much clicking to recycle the airs and not enough xp justified. Imagine they still do that for RC now, people would spend tons of hours just make tons of money and then just let them RC away for hours on end (unless you suddenly get disconnected, then all the effort is wasted.......)

What do F2Pers actually deserve?
Actually, consider the number of spams in this topic, its actually not that much compare to similar thread in the past. I have been a F2P for a long time, and I was fine when I started, even now I am still satisfied with what Jagex gave to F2P (in fact, the game is easier now, I used to estimate I need to waste 36mil gp to make craft 99, now I can actually have profits when I hit lvl 99 crafting). I simply adapt to whatever changes in the game to achieve my goals. Tbh, I do hope that Jagex make some balancing work in various aspect of the game such as combat triangle (since I don't Pk, so I just mirror what others said). Many skills suppose to be hard to train, my own estimation of RC will take 2 years to train if you train for 4 hours per day making airs without any kind of assist. I am neutral with skill cape since they could simply look at the highscore to figure out which skill is 99, some method I was able to ID ex member and F2P high lvls are to see if they have skill cape or not. For the most part, if you are combat lvl 124, I am sure there are some lvl 99s in there, at least 3 or 4.... In the past, I would always have a response of don't start things like this or we may get flamed from other P2pers, but at least something like this could be picked up (hopefully) by Jagex, so they can balance certain flaws in the F2P. For the ads in, some are actually very interesting (when you get older, you will be interested in stuff like mortgages, cars, and other life necessities). I do click on some of them, but again, I don't think that's how Jagex would support themselves as a company. It's at least enough to keep F2p servers running, but a very gray area to give us more updates. They can, and if they want to, make some old P2p content or armors into F2P world, but only obtainable in member world, so at least member can get it and sell it on GE, and make some cash on it for F2p (how they used to do that for shade robes and all other rune trim armors) In the end, I will just follow what Jagex decide to give to us, there are lots of balancing work required. When you release something into the World, you want to make sure every aspect of the game is on equilibrium and not causing severe tilt on one side of the scale.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
Yeah, mine was taken around Dec 2005 because when you create an image it says when it was created in the properties. I didn't really take any screen shots until my combat was lvl 100 plus since there was no point at the time. I started to keep record of leveling after that just for interest purposes. Since I started around May/June 2005, I didn't know I only missed intro of slayer by few months, the only thing I regret missing was actually the rubber chicken, lol. I think I spotted many other future to be top F2P when I was training, especially around Ice cave or Remmington WC area. Too bad I forget to get screenies back then because I wasn't aware of Top F2P list. Actually, cook x shouldn't be introduced until mid 2006? I wasn't really sure because I still remember the day of clicking on fire and fish to cook one by one and annoyance of people standing on top of the fire.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
Posted again from my previous one My friend spotted him in one of the world making airs, I immediately world hop to see him in person, but he never talked and just keep on RCing for 4 hours straight I always think Mendark 9 is first, and Syzygy is 2nd, interesting enough. Syzygy had more total xp then Mendark 9 at the time, so it could mean that in terms of training time, Syzygy could be rank 1 if he just moved on instead of getting more xp in the same skill. Then again, Mendark 9 did RC all the way to lvl 97 by himself with no help, so that bound to take long time I only heard Galaxyg from other F2P friend mentioned him before, but when I looked him up few years ago, I was very amazed by his skill and dedication as well. Don't forget first F2P prayer 99, Franzk For newer added F2P, the training back the is harder compare to now, I started around mid 2005, and this is snapshot of xp I manage to get until Dec 2005. Granted, its probably a lot easier to get that lvls with current game improvements PS: Lol at firemaking, with that kind of level and manage to get rank 799, fm sure has increase in popularity doesn't it. As we know it, cooking has went downhill ever since cook x came out.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
I am surprised that people still post this kind of stuff after so many years, not to mentioned that it seems the said person start here around 2004. This article should explain nicely why some F2P choose to stay F2P http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=23 A bit outdated but good read nevertheless, one of my inspiration to stay in F2P. I believe cash is not an issue for most people here, my one month car gas bill probably allows me to get membership at least 2 years straight no problem. ( I could choose to take the bus, but you just have to drive sometimes to let the V6 roar). As many stated before me, its mainly for challenge purposes, not to mention you have way too many lvl 100 plus in member world back then. During my time training as F2P, there were many instances where my training speed was a lot faster than regular member, I remember this one particular time. Back in 2005 A lvl 93 member log in ice cave, full member armor, there were 3 to 4 F2P (plus me, lvl 100) already around already training with ice giants. Member: Omg, so many F2p noobs. Some people makes some objections, he continues on Member: well, my mining is 69, I can almost mine addy, whats your mining lvl, lvl 100? Me: 75 Member: oh, you must be member before Me: no, I am pure f2p Member: oh, then I could pwn you with my range, mine is 74 Me: mine is 80 Member: Yeah, I bet you take forever to get that lvl 100, it only took me 5 months to get lvl 93. Me: I only been playing for three months and half with majority of skill at 80s now except for prayer, smith, crafting, mining, and rune crafting (which were all higher than his stat since I check the highscore beforehand) Member: Yeah right nolifer, "and then he logged off" Everyone had a good laugh Good times

A new maximum level?
They could technically, but people would rage for that exact reason. It's hard to level to lvl 99 for average players (who play on and off occasionally). On a side note, I noticed there is a default screen set limits when u first go into a world. I once noticed all skills maxed at lvl 120 for briefly 2 seconds before they revert back to lvl 99 cap. Similar example, when you go runite mining, when you first go into the world, the rock would appear it has ores based on the default picture, but quickly revert to the true status (well, no ores most of the time)

The F2P General Discussion Thread
The only problem would be when doing them as a group, someone on our team always get lagged out, and left us short of one people. Or when we tried to get friends together, they have some odd system crash problems.

24-Apr-2010 - Jagex Presents... RuneFest 2010
I would definitely go if they host it around my place, but probably not dressing up as much since it would take a lot of effort. It would be nice to talk to other RS players and developers in a setting such as those, its hard to find people to talk about it in real life. I would be happy to snap some pictures and buy something RS related if they do sell them at those events.

Not sure what trolling means, but most people consider it to be a insightful read because they can somehow relate. To be honest, this is the first time I read post like this.

Why does Jagex get new skills so wrong?
Your just glad because F2P was finally given a good mini-game to play. You would be just as happy with Stealing Creation, which in my opinion is more fun because it is PvP. This is just another piece of content that is a grind. Just because each dungeon is different, doesn't mean it won't be a grind. Every room has a monster or two to kill. You find a place to make some armour, then you get some food. You get to the end, and then kill a boss. Then repeat. It's the same thing over and over again. Since I am F2P myself, so I guess I fall into the same category as Sonic. IMO, I don't really think F2P would need Dungeoneering since its so separated from others. I would be kind of glad if they don't make it into F2P since that would make F2P world even harder (well, for those that want to go for lvl 99 in all skill). But I am also happy that they give it to F2P to keep something new going on once in awhile. Since the beginning hints of new skill, I have been trying to come up with a way (so do other people) to see what the new skill might be. IMO, I don't know if anyone could come up with a better idea of a new skill. If it does come, its just going to be another skill that just wait to get grind. Maybe Jagex is not doing something they were originally achieved back in 2005 to 2006. But it would be interesting to see if they left the 2007 problems left unresolved (botters, RWT, and other scamming problems). I don't mind people rant and voice their concerns on how much downhill the game has gone, it does give into some insight. But for majority of the player, who come and go so much, it doesn't really matter in the long run. (If you don't like the way its going, simply move on to other things, same for everything in the real world) Just my 2 cents here.

rs-my downfall
There are a lot of debate regarding to this kind of topic. It's the reason why we have the whole psychological and psycho-social department set up for everyone. You might meet with a successful individual with a horrible past. You might meet an homeless individual with a glorify past. It does relate to one thing specifically, but it relates to everything as a whole. If you talked to a lot of people in your careers, not just the one you work with (of course if you work in a computer engineering type companies, then that's the type of group you will mostly involved with). We got many diverse people out there and you really can't try to use one shoe fit all theory for them. In their downtime, its even worse to say that too bad so sad to them, because you will probably make it worse. I do agree with some part of your explanations but that's how human nature are, we blame everything for the segment of an undesirable outcome, because we feel that its somewhat not our guilt if we put the blame on someone else, and I think its normal. There are so many people live out there with similar and different personalities that some will definitely sympathize or going against each other. As I mentioned before, you can totally back up your opinion, and honestly, I probably think like you few years ago before I start my job. After I started my job and talking to various type of people (from people with long term disability, drug addict, to doctors and and high earning CEOs), EVERYONE got their own story to tell and it's good to really take yourself in their shoes and try to listen and think what they have to say. It's not easy to agree, or change, especially you have 2 different point on the extreme end of spectrum. What many people could do is that offer their opinions and thought in topic like those, but offer some "positive" reinforcement or advice in the end as you could to your best friend. I find that the best scenario to use, if this happen to your loved ones, you will definitively try to help them out whatever you can (no matter how screwed up the situations might be, which as I find, as we grow older, they POP out a lot more often).

Why does Jagex get new skills so wrong?
Yeah, I do agree that for the past few skills released, a lot of people get 99s in them fairly fast. Maybe because we are so attune to high xp at higher lvl that when we lvl at a slower rate it seems forever? It could be a good challenge, and I also agree with the author of this topic too, fun game, but slow xp. The xp is slow so that's something we can't change, but manage to enjoy it as we go along instead of blaze through it like the other skills. Perhaps Jagex is trying to rectify those cash burning, hour grinding repetitiveness of other skills. Well, technically you can still grind it, but just with more variations. I really like to do it with friends, and its kind of cool to lvl it along with your friends and talk about your result afterward. The only down side is people tend to lag out a lot...... I am sure its not the end of the skill production and Jagex will introduce more skill later on. I do admit introduce a skill that magnitude is really hard since you have a lot of balance work going on. It's a con and a pros to keep it contained in one area, and it would be wonderful if they can make it somewhat useful in the RS world as a whole (besides the reward), but you never know since Jagex are very tight lipped about those kind of stuff.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
I don't think you guys will get removed from the list for that reason. Since it was obviously some bugs Jagex did not intent in the first place. I am a bit interested in why Jagex can't modify single skill's xp, perhaps they really can't. In the case that they can't, the list updater will keep a note on it. I am sure we just have to keep answer questions to those new ones to the list why some individuals on the list have the agility xp. When I train the new skill, I usually just go by myself now. If I do it with friends, I will asked them to turn off shared xp as well. By the way, if ex member do the skill in a F2P world, they shouldn't been able to access member featured rooms right?

New (f2p) 'sub-class' of ranging pures: The "never-miss' ranger?
My thought exactly, that pure would have to spend a lot time acquire the tokens to actually get the sight in the first place. After gone through the dungeon, it would be pretty hard not to level some stats unintentionally (unless you are totally non skilled involved, which you can really)
-
rs-my downfall
Well, you need a lot of courage to step out and tell your own personal story in hope to inspire others. It was a good read, well it would be better with punctuation marks instead of line of text. Sometimes, its hard for people to seek help and look for solutions. Some are good at that, some don't, you can't really generalize everyone with your own ideal situations. Being in a therapist type job myself, I find it hard to change people or convince people at times, because I sometimes don't feel in sync with the client. So some might take awhile to get on the right path, some takes longer, some might never get on the path. IMO, I will always try to find a solution to solve my problem (if I can admit to it in the first place), gradually and slowly. I have heard a lot of people quit due to life changing stories or event, and my take is always step back and value what you have. Whatever the outcome is, as long you are happy with your decision, and set your life back to the right path, its all good.

New RuneScape Main Page
If you can't upgrade your computer then common sense will tell you that you won't be able to keep up with the latest games, not to mention ALL MMOs have their system requirements go up every few years. I was able to build my own computer to play the latest games on maximum settings, for $600. Building a computer to play runescape would cost a pittance in comparison. If we stifled innovation and progress every time someone was left out, whether it be by choice or not, then we would still be on dial-up because not everywhere has broadband/dsl/cable, playing our text-based games because "not everyone has a super compooter" and eating garbage because "not everyone has enough money for fresh fruits and vegetables." It's like when the US announced it would be joining much of the rest of the world by switching to digital broadcast instead of analog, and thousands of people went nuts because they had to spend ten bucks (The boxes are 50, but everyone got a $40 voucher) on a converter box. What a bunch of crybabies. Although I don't build my own system, you could get a decent set up from 600 dollars plus (assuming you know where to look and hardware spec). I personally would spend at least 1k on gaming computer since I know it will last longer for a while. For the most part, I use my gaming spec laptop (3 yr old though) to play RS HD all the time (not full screen mode since I am F2P). The only gripe I have is that when some odd graphic intensive ad running in the background, my RS smoothness dropped significantly). Frankly speaking, I know a lot of players play RS for it's lower than standard hardware spec and there is nothing wrong with that. It's like it depend if you want to buy a nice car or cheap car, if you can financially afford the expensive one (to maintain it too) then by all means go for it. But after all, if something will get you to go from point A to B with no break down and moderate gas mileage, that works well too.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
I think this warrant a reset on their agility level, but I don't see that immediately happen to those F2Per, probably somewhere down the road. On another note, Jagex should fix the problem by now so when a member get xp on member skill, F2P team mates won't get any. That's more common sense and fall to more bug issues for starters. Those that accidentally got the xp should stay on the list since they didn't do it intentionally. When I do Dungeoneering skill now, I always do it by myself, to avoid this kind of stuff from happening. I still wish they change the RC xp back to the way it was before. Spending 20 minute raiding a dungeon and not getting anything good is a bit disappointing (at least I don't know what to do with all the cash in the end, lol).
-
The F2P General Discussion Thread
I read the part where the mod gave the reason for the xp change. Something about higher lvl F2P can kill monsters a lot quicker than lower lvls. In addition, they also want to make sure no ex member with higher stat tries to do raids in F2P world and get higher xp for the same reason. Still, not sure why they put it as a reason since its pretty slow as it is. With puzzles and stuff to solve, its still quite slow to go through a dungeon properly.

New RuneScape Main Page
There was a system update to fix something in standard mode, so have a Jagex Mod says in RSOF. But according to the number of rants on the forum, I would say that it produces more issues than the fix suppose to be. I updated my Java version after looking at the new page. It provide 3 solutions, first try create a folder for it, 2nd, log into your computer as an admin and do run RS that way. Finally, update your Java. Since I don't want to do anything yet (because my C drive already have a dedicated folder for RS, not sure why they want us to do it again). I will leave the game alone for now until they try to do something. I think you can still play, just in safe mode and with no lobby action, and it seems people get lags and dced more often than before.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Yeah, I can see what you mean, hopefully they will change back again. I already see they change the RC xp, from 7~10 to 1 ~ 2. I guess I will go back to my skill lvling again until they change their mind again, or unless I got all lvl 99s first.
