  1. I have been around for few years, but I never seen Galaxyg play in the game before ( and I been playing 4 year+) now. So he must have retired before then, but hearing stories of his high xp back in the days and tendency for no talking was always a topic among veteran F2P. I don't think we need to scrutinize someone this much to see if they were P2P or not, especially if they stopped playing. Certainly, it would be very disappointing that someone trying to get higher xp overall by getting a membership for an edge. Besides, I think most F2P are spotted all over RS then added on to the list, and rarely they come forth themselves to be added on to the list (until they are aware of the list existence). The new comers that come after that generation will certainly be checked under several detection methods set up previously. (Of course, some do want that edge, not saying that everyone thinks the same way). Having said that, I recalled a lot of people were spotted along F2P worlds, and added on by those spotters on to the list after they ask for permission. I myself was added in such manner before I was aware there is a F2P list going around. It would certainly make our list easier to maintain if Jagex can release another pure F2P list, but I guess that will never happen.
  2. Yeah, I manage to hit a few 180s, I screen shot it too since its probably the highest I will ever hit as F2P. I even did a few barehanded and it looks like KO'ed some turkeys, lol. Was the list only goes up to 100 back then? I thought it was 150, not really sure.
  3. Hey, good old list, surprising enough, my rank at that time wasn't that much farther from my current rank. Too bad half of the people on the list probably stopped playing or upgrade to member.
  4. Congrats!! Another level 99 milestone. It seems that total lvl to get in the list keep going higher, it might even get to 1400 in the future, lol.
  5. Yeah, Neggy was higher ranked in the past, but can't train as much since the start of school.
  6. Oh, I am a high level myself and other friends on my friend list, and we always joke about this kind of stuff because majority of the people are so stereotypical about high levels (we don't get there over night, some of us work several years or months to get there). If I have 5 gp for people who made those rude high lvl insulting comment, I would have a small fortune by now. That's kind of joke me and my friends used to make. Its a very common occurrence in online game where people often stereotype others in one particular group, not the first, and won't be the last, as long as you play, it will always happen to you. People in one particular group either respond badly to it, or they simply shrugged it off (which me and my friend usually do, and rely on ignore list for that). I have high level friend who got insulted repeatedly in Clan wars because he keep beating everyone , and he end up swearing and got reported, but he said it was worth it for those black marks since he simply cant stand those kind of comments.
  7. Well, its certainly sounds like an high number when you hit over 356 days compare to other people, but it also shows you how much time this game cost you overall. Still, a good info to know nevertheless
  8. This is just my guess, but you might be able to get Eek back if you talk to the Spider Herald. I'm not very sure though (hence guess). Good, now we just need a volunteer to try it out and confirm our hypothetical reasonings, lol
  9. Answers in bold. Aww, I was hoping Eek would stick around, but it didnt really say anything about it going back to Spider Realm afterward, like how chocolate melt and stuff, but I probably wouldn't dismiss him just in case, since Jagex didn't say anything about getting Eek back. One of the thing I was able to keep from before was the Turkey book and this purple potion thing to dye your cat in their respective events. I am sure once I drop or toss them away,I wont be able to recover them anymore.
  10. I think it's not just RS that suffer this kind of reaction, many other online games too. Its kind of disappointing that people tend to think that way because like many other said, other people posing as female players. I think on one side, it doesn't matter if you are female or male behind that pixel. Overall, its actually worse sometimes that people know you are female in RL (and they start pestering you afterward). I been playing online first person shooting games where if one female actually talk, the entire chat box of audio chat would be filled with comments right away. Imagine that kind of scale on RS with so many people there. It's just like how higher level will always be perceived as they have no life, 40 yrs old, and live in their mom's basement. I been since weary of those comments and use it as laughing materials in my own circle of friends. Girls do exist on RS, but I don't think gender matters that much, your own character should be acknowledge through your own achievement and how you treat other players with respect. That's just my two bits.
  11. Consider the crazy inflation of all the items, I think its kind of easy to hit the 1 Mil mark. Earn tons of gp just by hitting the hobgoblins for fun and selling off limp roots
  12. That's another good way to validate who is still pure F2P, but is it true that only member has access to this adventure log feature? It would be interesting to know how much time I have dedicated to RS since I start this game (probably 2 yrs or something, lol) In the absence of training like crazy (and everyone else training like crazy), I have dropped so many ranks since the old days. Ah well, easy come, easy go, at least I am still on the list somewhat, lol
  13. Just to double check, Once you complete this holiday event, you get the web cape and Eek the spider right? for the songs unlock, were there 2 to 3? I know its Itsy Bitsy, poison dream, and one more at death's House. Do we get a new emote this year, or it just unlock the trick one which some player didn't get last year. Lastly, can we keep Eek when Halloween is over? Or its just going disappear once the event is over. I just want to make sure I got everything for the event, or I might just wait until the Tip It guide come out to confirm the reward. PS: If you dismiss Eek, can you get her back in some way? lol
  14. Man, why is everyone train so fast these days. For the past 2 weeks, I got 3 levels done, and my rank still dropping, lol
  15. I think the distinction is really blurred for buying a skill. For example, if people think that buying something and doing it repetitively is not consider it a "true" achievement, then other skills would be greatly affected by it. Just how people used to say fletching, cooking, fire making, crafting, and even prayer or smith is easy enough if you just buy the materials and keep working on it. The most obvious one is probably cooking and firemaking. Now people could justify it by saying I cooked all the fish I got myself from fishing 99 instead of buying it from GE. Or getting the FM 99 with all the logs you cut, but since validating those skill is hard enough in the first place, I don't think those skill will ever escape their stereotypical "easy" to train nature. I am sure most people get prayer 99 through buying bones and use altar with them (I am not sure since I am F2P, big bones or bones only), but I really doubt not alot of people will enjoy killing enough monsters, maybe dragons to get their prayer 99. Again, with all the cash that some of other skills generate, you might as well dump most of it either in rares, or skills. Otherwise, getting all that money in the first place without spending it in the first place proves kind of pointless.
  16. Good old days, I remember I used to train and study at the same time, hitting 2 birds with one stone, of course that only works for general study, wont work for midterms and finals. Too nervous to play RS during that time anyways. Only thing to look for is playing 8hrs+ of RS during each semester break after the exam, to the point I can't really tell if it was night or day outside anymore. (I do vaguely remember when to eat and do other life sustaining stuff, and occasionally go out when my friends called me and asked what I have been doing recently, lol) At this point, I won't even estimate when I am going to max all 99 out, since I do everything at slow pace and slow way, maybe few years down the road for sure. Just hope I won't get bumped off the list when that happens.
  17. I don't think anyone would actually like mining that much (some actually do, which still baffles me these days) But hey, out of all the skills in RS, mining is revered one of the hardest skill to train for F2P and P2p, even if you were to power mining ores, it would still take a while to accomplish. Profit wise, rune mining and superheating with bars definitely is one of best money maker in the game, of course, if you have enough patience for it. Back to that mil xp discussion, I personally did a few days of 12 hours non stop firemaking during the summer holiday, and needless to say, unless you turn the chat off and completely focus on firemaking, it can be quite distracting. I got my fm 99 during the time where plenty of cheap willow logs still in the general store, so lvling that fm wasn't big issue for me financially, just have severe finger cramps after training it for a while. (Manage to get 1.1mil xp that day for fm) For crafting, I know a few people just buy tons of cowhides or tanned leather at Al karid while training something else, basically, if you have 25mil cash or more sitting in the bank, then hitting that 99 crafting isn't so hard either. Basically, nothing is hard if you know the most efficient ways to achieve the xp per hour (rest is just grinding, or various style of training), and ever since the grand exchange update, we are finding more convenient ways to train and lvl up even for F2P players.
  18. I think its possible to get 1mil xp per day for certain skills, such as fm, cooking, crafting, smithing, if you have alot of cash to burn through of course. Of course, playing more than 10 hours per day helps too, at least need more than that to hit 1mil xp mark per day
  19. That's the nature of the beast, its all training and time based game, the more time you spend on training, the more xp you gained. Having said that, when you thought you are training like crazy, someone out there might train even crazier than you, lol I used to looked at some people's highscore and even cut and paste them to see if I could beat them in terms of xp per day. And just when I thought I was ahead, bam, they would train like even crazier speed. Now looking back, kind of childish sometimes, but still fun nevertheless. PS: It's really bad for your health if you only spend 5 hours sleeping in 2 days, and rest all dedicated to training, and eating and the other necessities. Hey u gotta be crazy to beat the other crazy ones, lol
  20. I used to add 1 or 2 people every few weeks when I started out, but as my lvl grew, I find myself doing less. Now I probably add 1 once every few months of so, in fact, I only add about 3 in past 2 years. One is having hard time finding mature people to talk to, and secondly, they want to be friends with just because high lvls. I still keep alot of old friends from back in the days, even the ones that don't play anymore, just thought I could talk to them again if they ever come back. Then again, that's how this game goes, people eventually move on to new things.
  21. I still remember the old days that I used to train with body runes and chaos for curses, weaken, and crumble undead on zombies and barbarians, after 50k of those, fingers getting a bit cramped. Now I just do superheat most of the time, at least I can train smith and magic at the same time, and its good xp too. The only thing I worry about is that I know I am going to hit over 13mil xp in mage when my smith get to 98 or 99. That's we all wish those extra xp can go somewhere else. As for making runes, well, I will just keep on making airs myself until my rc hit 99 someday, that will take a few years without runners, lol.
  22. I think the reasons for everyone is different, though points might cross each other for sure. 1. My original goal: my goal was to get all F2P levels maxed out (and one more mini goal) and that was during 2005 when I first started, granted, it looks more daunting back then (nearly impossible except for a few who is really dedicated, and we all know that by comparing to old top f2p lists, the average now compare to the average back then is truly scary) 2. Like so many other said before me, its pretty simple, even though some are repetitive, but due to alot of repetitiveness, I was able to multitask and do other things, of course without afk my computer. Reading and listening to music is what I like the best. 3. Enough content for me: I felt that the free world is pretty big itself, and there is alot of things you can do, even useless action, I sometimes do odd things at places and other people would say, whats a lvl 124 doing at the place like this? go somewhere else or go back to member (lol at that one), well, I like to visit my old training spots once in awhile (I even shear sheep for awhile to make ammies, all 12k of them, thats 12k sheeps I had sheared) 4. I think its an achievement to stay as f2p, comparatively speaking, in terms of training and dedication, sure, getting members would train alot easier, but the standard is alot higher in p2p (getting all lvl 99 doesn't seems to be the standard anymore, 200mil xp in each skill seems to be more proper) There are millions of other reasons that I could have listed out for sure, and I don't think there is a right or wrong answer or a perfect answer why some of us choose to stay F2P. Just like my Wow friends would go, why would you play a Java based game? Wow is much better. But with that in mind, my other friends would go, why sit in front of computer and doing virtual things all day long, go out there and do stuff, volunteer, do sport, have a job make some more income, make friends? The endless debates goes on and on what is the best use of time. Overall, back the the point I originally made in other posts, as long you know how to balance your life and other activities, when it comes to RS, "Play the way you want to play, not following what the norms wanted you to play, and have fun" that's the most important thing of all
  23. Anyone can confirm the reward for this event? just make sure I don't miss anything 2 new music track, 1 carrot, and 1 new emote?
  24. Well, I really don't mind doing those holiday event, some of them are fine, but alot of them are quite repetitive, and I really just want to get the emote and the items so I can start my training again. Of course, hitting people with holiday items is always a big plus for me, I would rather have the rubber chicken then full set of phat, so that carrot sounds like a good idea to me
  25. It's totally open for subjective debate. You could have someone who is literally playing the games all day and not doing anything else in their life. Or you could have someone that partition their time appropriately and play bit by bit everyday, and have school, and have a job, AND have a social life all at the same time. Its funny how when you see a high level player and assume that they train for so long everyday, and that they must be someone wearing thick glasses and don't do anything except staring at computers. Most of the players didn't think that the game was open to public ever since 2000 (or somewhere around the time), that people could obtain that rank over the period of 7 to 9 years..... Of course, to quote one of my friend's saying: "they judge and make fun of your in RS when they don't even know who you are in real life", so literally when people make those comments to me or my friends in game, we simple shrugged and carried on our business. As another famous player quote: "Ignore list is my best friend" that's what we use for those ignorant ones. (besides using them as note pads, another great tip from tip it, or someone I can't remember)
