  1. Really nice biography, they should make this into another tip it news article. It really just to show you what one man's hard work, dedication, and hobby could lead to if he really strive for it. Also, clear up alot of misconceptions regarding the Jagex itself, its true that when small time business goes big, policies change, and environment changed, but overall improvement has gone very nice (especially RWT problem solved, frankly, I think that was the best update so far, and finally people can finally deserve the true price on resources that they painstakingly gathered) I know alot of people grow up with the game, I read somewhere that a player used to be 13 when he start playing, and now he is 21, and I knew alot of people in rl that are younger, which is 13 and 14 years old now, probably had fun when they play RS back in grade 3 to 5, some still do, but most rather not talk about it (lol, but you still find them play RS in school or public libraries) Happy Birthday Andrew, and thanks for providing us with this wonderful game. PS: happy birthday to Lightning, one of the original legends and founders of Tip it.
  2. Maybe some F2P should write a F2P lvling guide, lol In fact, alot of F2P wrote alot of free world oriented training guides for individual skills, just need to summarize it up to see that its not hard to train in F2P world
  3. I find soldiers and workers good xp for both, the only part I dont like is that they dont drop bones, so I can't really train my prayer. For scimi and sq shield, there is actually a spot that has 3 soldiers all crowded together has the highest drop rate (I got 3 scimi and 1 sq once during that trip), for workers, they seem to be dropping alot of nat runes. Fight whichever that you are comfortable with, some people are just in it for the xp, and you can always train with soldiers once you can last longer against their atk for better profit.
  4. During my RS career, I have seen high lvl and low lvl pmod, and member pmod, and f2p pmod. For the most part, they are really nice in all the aspect. I guess even Jagex could make mistake in selecting people to be moderators, but at least the ones that did become one should be more responsible. Quote from Spiderman: With great power comes with great responsibility. If you can't even handle that, then might as well say no right from the beginning. PS: I did see a few ex pmod, they were all nice people, but I guess its too taxing for them since they get alot of attention moment they speak, so at least its like some weight off the shoulder
  5. I believe the list is ranked by their total lvls, and if the lvls are the same, then you ranked by total xp. Maybe when you load the page, it might use total combat just to show overall member list. We know some F2P that aren't listed have high individual stat listing, but it would make the list harder to manage, so total lvls are still the best way to go. To be honest, training isn't that hard at all, as you lvl up, it will become easier because you will get more xp in same time, and find better ways to train. Not to mention with the grand exchange update, makes buying stuff alot easier, which is easy for item oriented skills (cooking, firemaking, prayer, smithing) just mine your way to lvl 85 mining and mine runite ores and buy rest of the stuff. Power training is also avaliable to ones that dont care about money but more focused on xp. I have heard F2P get from lvl 3 to lvl 100 in just roughly about 1 month of playing, granted they probably play 8 hours per day, but even if you do it moderately say 2 to 3 hours a day, getting that many xp isn't that hard. I personally know another F2P lvl 124 train only on "weekends", and it took him about 4 years from lvl 3. All you have to do is time your xp per hour, and divide that by 13mil xp, then you will roughly know how many hours you need to get it 99, then divide that by 2 hours per day (or x hours per day), then you will know how many days you need to get it 99. Some people I know just read or watch tv while they train, you can get really productive with your school reading if you combine it with training (fishing, cooking, woodcuting works the best). If you train often, its not hard to get all the lvls to 99 F2P style in probably just 3 years (from lvl 1 in all skills). In fact, reading through the list, I can tell some F2Pers achieve huge alot (probably over 80 to 100mil xp, and that minimum), in just one year time.
  6. Yeah, thats actually the first place I went to, the reporting academy, however, its being somewhat vague, and I couldn't find anything thats helpful in my situition.
  7. Well, I never know the list existed until someone told me (thought it was a joke during that time), even after I saw my rank, I still train normally (I just like to train) Nowadays, my rank doesn't seems to be going up anywhere even though I am gaining levels once in a while (since everyone else is training and bumping me down, lol)
  8. I thought Intel and Nvidia usually go hand in hand, both CPU, motherboard, and video card? I think even if you have a moderate set up with AMD and crossfire set up for ATI card, its still perform smoothly? I would really go for 9800 series since they are not that much expensive now, maybe use your 7900 for a while and get 2 9800 GT sli mode later on (or GTX) Power supply seems a bit slow, I got 420pw from Thermaltake, and now I heard you might need 550pw or more in order to run stuff smoothly if you got alot of HD, video cards and other component if you system. If you can, maybe get a new CPU fan too, they do cool the CPU down more (if you plan any OC, even without OC) its still great just to be safe What are you trying to run? Crysis? Its cool to upgrade your computer and see the effect afterward, I still remember upgrade from Geforce 420x to 9800 radeon pro, I never know water in Halo has rippling effect.....lol
  9. Seems like a late response, but still good if you want to know more. My cousins friend has a laptop with '256" ram, it took him almost 3 min to load up IE, when he plug a 1gb into the laptop, it went from 3 min to 2 seconds..... When he play CS, he used to experience alot of "matrix" mode, and he had to turn down all the feature, now its all fly and fast and furious, so fast, that he couldn't get used to it for a while.... So, it is worth the money to upgrade, basically, if you got xp system, 1gb at least to run smoothly, if you got vista, then 2gb just to be safe For the Flash drive thing, you need to buy more expensive drive that enable vista ready boost in order for it to work effectively, basically it has a set transfer read and write speed, only if you exceed certain which allows the ready boost to work effectively, there are also 3rd party readyboost like programs for xp, seems to work for some people.
  10. This might be abit expensive but I used Logitech (or Altec Lance, or whatever good brand u can see) gaming headphone system, USB type, they are big but cover your ear quite comfortably and it feels like surround system. Downside, bit expensive (but worth it if you play FPS games) and it takes up one USB outleat (which can be solved if you buy another USB hub) I had mine for 2 years, still work great.
  11. It happens to mine too, and I can think of several reason that it happens. The CPU is processing more maybe because you are playing the game in full screen HD mode, when CPU start to heat up, the built in CPU fan will spin faster to cool down the heat. The GPU (your video card) is working more, so again, built in fan is spinning faster to reduce the heat off the GPU, generally happen to me during 3D gaming time. For some odd reason, running RS in HD and normal mode tend to tax the computer abit, but I guess its harder to notice in PC since they have more space and less responsive cooling fans. What you can do is air dust out the vents and stuff on your laptop, and maybe getting some sort of laptop fan platform to reduce the heat abit. Those work well, and do cool down some quite considerably. Laptops are compact in size, so they tend to heat up alot quicker. If the fan becomes more like a rukus, then you might want to check if something is loose, then it can get abit complicated (open up and check around, which I dont recommend unless you know some computer tech to do it)
  12. I think skillers in terms of overall skills and total lvls, so in this aspect, I count combat as a skill too. Maybe its more like distinction between skillers, pkers and merchant? otherwise, they would use pure skillers (like no combat, just non combat skills) as proper term Its quite blurred of what you can make of it really, I train combat too and non combat skills, but I dont pk, so I guess I am more of a overall skiller, it really depend on what type of definition you use really.
  13. Something like that wouldn't hurt, it will at least help the member to sell a portion of their yew bows, or those rune arrows, which makes range and pking more fun I suppose. But when something like this is mentioned, there are often people ready to pounce on the topic such as this. I still think current F2P set up is fine the way it is, if they can make range and mage more balance in F2P pking system, it might worth change.
  14. I think they tend to aim for that first wave of victim, they know that people will eventually adapt, and thats where they will think new ones, which is bad Again, always use common sense, and just use official link bookmark method. That always works for me
  15. Actually, do any of those girls that dress up do in fact play WoW? lol Maybe Blizzard pay them to dress up? it happens alot at other anime/video game conventions
  16. Hmm, maybe I will try that, thanks a bunch, lol
  17. Actually, I know a few Wow players in real life and most of them have no comment for RS, but they did heard of them before, and I think they are itching to say that RS isn't up to scratch....well, I personally think its a huge achivement overall being started in a basement and not an multi million commercial game developer. My university actually host those anime cosplay convention once every year and some costume does look nice, even some home made one deserve some applause, after all, they did spend time into making it, thats what it count. I wouldn't mind having a RS convention and maybe dress up alittle bit for the event, just that it might not be much of variety since I am F2p, and all I can think of is monk robes, other god armours, and maybe holiday event items..... Speaking of which, some of those RS product like bags and pencil cases looks good, I wonder if I buy one and use it in my work place, anyone would recognize it? better yet, Jagex should make pins (or jackets, lol) that says lvl 99 in a skill, like lvl 99 wc pin, or lvl 99 str pins with those special cell animation when you move them, lol, that would really make my day....
  18. Now I finaly remember where I saw the related info on phishing, its here, lol. I posted a thread about how to report hackers in general section, but it seems that one of my friend might have fallen victim to those scamming topic, and now a hacker is using his account doing god knows what. (The hackers just casually told me that he is currently using my friends, or rather, hacking his account now) So I reported the account hopefully get it lock so my friends account dont take further abuse, but is there more of an offical way to report hacked account so they dont get black marks until the rightful owner get them back later on? Someone on the thread mentioned that you can post something on RS forum, and mods might investigate, but how does F2P report hackers then since they have no access to forum?
  19. 50 only? Wow, that seems too short, top 100 sounds better, lol Not that I would complain, but it seems that if it was only top 50, then you would need 1405 or something lvls higher to qualify, lol
  20. Hmm, the problem is, I am F2P, so I don't think I can post any msg on RS forum, I can only view them. I noticed some similar thread on Tip It forum too, but it seems the general response is to report them under rule 3, or simply delete and let Jagex handle it.
  21. Not sure if this is in right section, if its not, thanks to mod that move it to the right section. Just today, one of my friend in my friend list ask me who I am, so I thought he must pm the wrong guy. Then later on, he just told me bluntly that he is a hacker and is currently hacker my friend's account. At first, I didnt' really know what to do, so I thought he might be joking, and I asked him that why would he told me that if thats what he is really doing. Then just to make sure, i told him to stop joking around and ask him how the training is going, then he goes, dude, I am hacking this account now. Right after he said that, I just report him under rule 6 (not sure which one I should, but this one seems abit closer), then I just delete him and put him on ignore list for now. Is that what we are suppose to do? Or we simply just delete them and put them on ignore and let Jagex and the account owner sort it out?
  22. Perm quit RS once achieve lvl 99 all? You can still keep on training some skills though. and going for some other goals. But after all, real life is more important, I guess people eventually need to move on to new stuff, lol. I started my RS career during university, I still play even I am working now, but not as much compare to before, just working toward my goal one lvl at the time (hence I dont train the fast way, want to drag the game out as long as I can) Even if I do get lvl 99 all, I might set new goals myself and slowly work toward it, after all, RS is a game that literally has no end. At least it relieve me of some daily stress. Grats to new people making it to the list, and it will be nice to see the list expanded to 250. But I think we might have to limit the list to some point, otherwise it might be top 500 f2p, or top 1000 f2p....(I think top 1k is the really how high you can go). Speaking of which, what was the orginal listing? top 100?
  23. It's interesting how this type of thread get posted again and again when people will mostly likely flame them and might get lock later. Also you might also want to read others response before posting your own (everyone want their opinion heard, but usually dont bother reading other ones) Since I am F2P, so maybe my view might be a bit biased, so bear with me. For the most part, I don't even really see anyone actively go around ask more update for f2p worlds. Some did, more like open ended questions, what if F2p get this, or what if F2p get that. So far, I havent seen anyone actually protesting on any F2P worlds in Varrock or Fallydor, or Lumbridge for that matter. So who is the one keep on saying F2p should get more stuff? Secondly, I think F2P got enough updates (all the GE, and dual arena, and loads of other stuff, even HD options in the past 1 year), it was fine without those update before, because for the most part, free to play is suppose to have its limitation, giving too much away for free to play just isn't a good business model. I believe most of F2P can afford membership because it just really cheap, but for most part, how consistant can you keep training, I like F2P because I know if I am gone for few months or so, everything remain pretty much the same. If I do pay for it, I might want to get my money's worth and play more then I suppose to. I got load of F2p friend change to P2p during my RS career, and most are really happy with the decision, and for the most part I think member worlds do offer more stuff to play with. But for me, I just enjoy training, lvling and doing some mis stuff with friends. I think for some people, thats enough already. Plus, we have to deal with those ads up top when we play, those usually keep the server running fairly well. In fact, thats how Jagex start up in the first place, F2P, then gradually do P2P. For so many times, people thought I was P2P because my lvl is high for a F2P, and I simply answer them that, you dont need to be a member to train, you can still train, albeit in much slower pace, but just play what you enjoy. To conclude my summary, just a few examples Bank space, 68 is plenty, I dont know what you keep in there, majority of the holiday event can be placed by Diago, and its enough for ores and all the common things, unless you are into buying all the trim items, and collect bunch of things. Monster, ice giants, cockroach soldiers, they are good for money and xp, and its not hard to find a world that is empty of other competitors Yew logs, and lobster, coal and ores, always a big demand, you can make cash that way. Fog, duel arena, runecrafting guild, clan wars good for mini game and xp. With the autoers gone, everything is slowly back to normal, and to be honest, thats all what most F2P ever wanted.
  24. It's kind of hard to get into F2P list now, it was easier to get in 2 or 3 years ago. I still remember someone told me that I should be on the F2P list and I had no idea what it is until I came across it by accident 2 years ago (and find my name on the list). It didn't took that long for me to get into top 35 rank, but due to several months of doing something else my rank drop like a stone. The fact that those do still stay on the list tend to have way higher xp and lvls compare to other high f2p (who quit and stop playing), which makes moving up the ranks harder as well. Just train and find the most efficient way (or most enjoyable) to do it, few months or few years at a time. There was a thread about RS legend (got locked because too many spamming), and I saw some good old RS F2p on top that used to be my inspiration as well (and I even got mentioned as someone's inspiration, lol)
  25. Yeah, I just found that out awhile ago, a magical force prevent you from banking this item....... how does one bowl of soup does that? lol Oh well, at least for some reason, I can bank the broom and the ugunent potion, just make sure I dont lose both.....because you need to get that in member server after halloween
