The only thing that prevents them is if you have one. Just left click talk to the barmaid+black marketer and if they don't initiate the random then you're just being unlucky. There should be a yellow quest symbol above their head and on the map as well. I'm not sure if it goes away if you don't do the event before leaving your port, however.

Not saying I called it, but I was just telling someone how much I'd like it if the KK was like the QBD but with a party system. Looks like I got my wish!! :) Although really I was hoping that tier 90 weapons would also come from DG... Warped Weapons Why??

So wait, do hidden % bonuses like those from FSH and Void affect only autoattacks or autoattacks and some abilities?

Could anyone take a picture of their ship with full Cherrywood upgrades? Just noticed what a cosmetic difference armored hull made on mine. Cherrywood must be spectacular!

What hidden equipment bonuses remain intact and on what attacks are they applied (like auto attacks or abilities)? Specifically wondering about Salve Amulets (E), Ferocious Rings, Full Slayer Helms, Void sets, and Hybrid armor.

I'm willing to bet they're random... I haven't had one in quite a while. :( Double-checked trader and barmaid to be sure.

You mean for runecoins or for things purchased with runecoins? _______ I'm going to get gold soon enough, but honestly there's nothing I really want from SGS at the moment. I'm thinking I'll either save the runecoins for when the next big pack (ala Assassin/Dwarf) is released or spend them all on bank boosters lol. The new pets' effects seem novel at best but who wants to actually use those during combat when Steel Titan scroll specs demo erryone now? Really my motivation for getting gold is more for the benefits they haven't explicitly detailed yet, such as the special offers, although in all likelihood those'll just be for new SGS items anyway.

I do wish there was a more active component, perhaps where you could actually accompany your ships and do some of the fighting/sailing/emboldening. I don't really know how they'd encorporate such a thing with the current system and ever-lengthening voyage times though.

The steep difficulty curve has made me reluctant to send out any missions except those for resources. At the moment I've got all slate deck items, 3 SF and 2 combat but no morale which is really hurting me :-| I'm wondering what building to upgrade first since I have quite a bit of excess gunpowder. The 2% bonus to getting better crew rolls seems miniscule, although it might help me get some Blazing Lanterns or Chimeras (should I succeed this 70% mission). On the other hand, even a 1% increase in ship stats is something I can actually see.

Just one day in Hook and I'm not doing too badly. :) I got a 2.5k captain, 2 Golden Katanas, and 3 Storm Riders, as well as a surplus 600 slate at the moment. A majority of the voyages I've gotten today I've been able to 100% with a mix of the new crew and some from Skull. A joint mission between the Whaler and Biologist required something obscene [for me] like 6.5k but luckily if you have them you can use multiple Bottled Cries on the same mission (which raised my chances from something like 66% to 79% and ultimately, success - 1200 chimes and 600 slate if I remember correctly). I think I'll continue buying only crew until I find it really necessary to get any of the boat upgrades. Bit of an off-note but I'm finding my captain's speed boost to be annoying rather than beneficial. I'd rather be able to send out 2 voyages at once everytime instead of them being staggered. Unfortunately it appears his speed makes an entire 35 minute difference between two voyages I started at nearly the same time with the same timespans. I'm going to look into remedying this by giving the boat with the speedy captain the worst rudder possible and the one without the best I can. EDIT Didn't think about it before but the best reason to buy the icons for the individual adventurers would probably be for the joint missions. In fact, that's probably why there's only 3 spots for them - so you can attract the 2 or, eventually, 3 that go together.

That is worth noting, thanks. I didn't realize as much because I also got the Assassin in my opening cutscene and just assumed she was the "trial" adventurer regardless of stats. However, Prayer would have been my highest stat, so the latter bit can't be true.

I was just thinking, "I'd really like an Auspicious Katana..." Not quite as good but I'll take it. :)

Is there a way to review the opening cutscene? I wanna see the armor on those people again. I don't remember it well but it might actually be Tetsu, considering the Death Lotus wear, well, Death Lotus armor.

How do you check what a captain's personality does? All of the ones I've used have been exuberant so far, but my latest available one is vicious. I would of course assume that exuberant = morale and vicious = combat boosts, but how do you know? The stats of each don't really support that, though...

Probably only worth it if you're going for story missions. I bought convict, assassin and whaler icons about a week ago and the only person I've seen other than them is the missionary. I have all 6 people unlocked too. Unlike you, I'm still missing the Convict. I believe the icon might be useful for "catching up" his story after I finally get 90 Thieving, and probably for anyone who only has 2 or 3 adventurers available.

Taskmaster, finally! Fishing was all that was holding me back and I got 91 over the weekend. Would have worn the obligatory full achievement but I need the lamps for skills I can't use them in yet. EDIT Did it anyway. Not bad, really like V4 body now.
