Finally got around to doing What's Mine is Yours. Not bad, about what I expected. Took me ~35 min (aura). Spins from quest gave me this. WHAT COULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE

Why Do People Judge RS So Much Differently Than Other Video Games?
RS really isn't a game I'd consider starting today. I don't recommend it to my friends, but they know I play and many have played it before. Few of them criticize(d) me for it, and I've used similar arguments to yours as retaliation (that other games are equal wastes of time (or just no argument at all lol idgaf mostly)). I do feel, as you mentioned, that RS has had some decent enough dividends that extend to my life, such as my now impressive typing speed, and an at-least basic economic understanding (which I might even say helped me in my college econ courses). I've often been inspired by the creativity that goes into the game's story and elements, and feel that it's helped me become a more creative writer. Lastly but certainly not least, if not for RS I would've never come to TIF, which means I would've never received the practice I have over the years from simply typing and expressing my opinions. However, I can't defend the grinding. Thankfully I realized long ago (but, perhaps, not early enough) that grinding for XP (or MA ranks, or what have you) wasn't fun and didn't feel rewarding enough to justify it after a certain point, hence why I'm nearly a 10-year veteran without maxed skills. The question then becomes, "Why am I still here?" And the answer is that RuneScape has original value that can't possibly be done justice by its specific vehicle of presentation. RS has and, hopefully, always will have its own style, theme, and lore that make it worth coming back to for me. It's simply the unfortunate case that that particular charm can't be easily understood or experienced just by looking at the game, and a great deal of RS's originality (read: fun) can't be experienced without climbing the strenuous walls of grind. I still staunchly believe that the originality RS has could be transferred to an appropriate platform and made into a true work of art akin to say, Bioshock, or Dishonored, that goes far beyond a simple video game.

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Finally got around to visiting HD KBD. Got it all to myself for one kill before someone in max str gear promptly crashed me. If Steel Titan hadn't insisted on dancing with the KBD, I might've had a chance. Oh well...

Tip.It Times - 14th October 2012
Err, why again would they possibly want to add more of these positions? That must be the one thing I missed out of that article - a reason for J to want to do something so foolish. Personally I'd never want to be a mod, and if I became one, would probably never speak in public chat again since it seems like I'd never be treated like an actual or normal player again...

King Black Dragon and Dungeon Rework- October 9, 2012
Got tired of waiting for pics. IMPULSE BUY. Sufficiently spiky, set feels complete now. Too bad they have no plans for gauntlet or boot kits though, as far as I know.

Any pictures of kitted kites? It's amazing that youtube doesn't seem to have a single vid of someone showing them off, nor RSWiki any pictures.

01 Oct, 2012 - Behind the Scenes October
The monsters in the video weren't updated... wish they'd just hold off until they had updated versions if they're going to halfass it to be released by next week. I was really looking forward to GWD-grade upgraded monsters and atmosphere... :( Not to mention that we've seen a picture of new Black Demons in updated CT before...

Promissory Note & Choose Your Fate rewards
You can just take one dart from the cards at a time, and the cards themselves are kept on death regardless.
-
Promissory Note & Choose Your Fate rewards
Was just there on w99, literally a line of people waiting to use their darts when the virus attack went off lol. I can only imagine overcrowding getting worse when all of the kids get off school. How does one even access other language worlds?

01 Oct, 2012 - Behind the Scenes October
Great month until I got to the bottom... That is NOT what I meant by adding old elements to the customization interface. It should be done by them for free. Instead, it sounds like it's going to cost both real money and the item you use. Oh well... KBD and dungeons! Yay!

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Decided to do a task anyway even though I think I have all the unlocks. I did the task I already had, did not get the unlock, so I got another. Dagannoths are extremely fast, even moreso than before. I was able to finish a task of 235 or so in one Momentum at Waterbirth, and that was without using "Rock" Barrage (their weakness), FSH, or cannon, which one might be able to set up there, I'm not sure. Do Full Slayer Helmet or Momentum apply to Barrages?

Botany Bay & Ozan Quest Double Bill - Sept. 26th, 2012
Skin issues still abound as well. Even in newly updated Al-Kharid some NPCs are spotted light and dark. The same still happens with Robes of Subjugation, where the upper face and parts of skin that show are light skin by default. Not to mention Goliath and Spellcaster Gloves still have green particles, although perhaps there's no hurry to fix those since they'll soon be relegated to Chaotic clones anyway. _______ The quest (singular, just because they decide to split it up to make it seem more filling doesn't make it 2 quests!) was actually quite satisfying and at least equivalent to One Piercing Note. As with that quest, the voice acting and music are both well done, and most of the quest features NPCs and areas that have been updated to current graphical standards. The future possibilities for desert lore are also quite intriguing. I decided to go back to the tunnels for the extras and noticed one of the bugs shimmering like in the quest. When I hit it, I got the spin earning sound and in my chatbox it said I'd received a spin token, although I didn't actually get it...

We have RSC, why not RS2 [LD]?
It was because a lot of reasons I'll name a few: Items that were meant to be rare were actually rare for example D chain used to be one of the most prestigious items you could get, now its pretty common to see. There were only a few maxed players back then compared to now where you see so many people that have got atleast 1 99 back then it was a real achievement because you were one of the minority with one but now most skills are a one click system before you actually had to pay attention and work for them. Tthere was a lot less bots then there are now even though numbers have gone done lately its still not like it was and because of bots stuff that was a hassle to get is now easy to buy because bots forced them into the market which has reduced the price by so much. RS was more rewarding back then if you got a rare drop it was actually rare and the way your equipments value didn't decrease as much as stuff is now for example I got DFS for 20m and within months it was worth a fraction of that it just seems pointless to put money in equipment now because you just lose money. To put it bluntly they were the glory days end of and I would love it if they went back to the way it was in 06-09 even if I had to restart my character I would be so happy I'm not sure how many people agree but thats my opinion. I don't understand how any of those points make 06-08 RS better than nowadays nor how they would be combated? You seem blinded by nostalgia. - Over time all rare items (that are continued) will get more common. Hence better armour is added to replace it. How would you propose Jagex keep D Chains the best chest-slot item over time without it becoming extremely common. Nex armour has taken over the position D Chains once held, which is just natural progression. I don't understand how having a D Chain as a top tier item is better than having a Torva Plate as a top tier item as it is now? - This is because the game is older, and hence a higher proportion of the player-base is a higher level. How would you combat this? I also don't understand how having a higher level player-base makes the game worse? Yes it means that you have to work harder to be competitive in competitive situations. But it also leaves mid-level content (which was previously high-level) free for lower level players. - You state that the game was better because of the grind? Yet during those years many people (probably you included) were complaining that there needed to be less grind. - There was (in my opinion) a similar proportion of bots to players. - As items become more common, they lose value. Everyone knows that if you buy an expensive item soon after release you will lose money. I don't understand how this makes 08 better? The release of the DFS decreased the price of the D Sq, it's a cycle. To me it seems like the real reason you remember 06-08 so fondly is because it is when you first started playing. You were ignorant of all the problems in the game, and the items/updates/player-base you like so much are because that's when you have your fondest memories of the game. Different to how you remember is not equal to worse. Exactly this. None of the examples of "issues" with the current RS would actually be resolved by the creation of a previous version server, except perhaps bots since they wouldn't bother. Some "problems" might even reach intolerable levels relatively quicker on such servers, once again because of changes to the community rather than changes in gameplay. Players these days seem far more goal-driven and focused on rewards than ever before. That could easily carry over to the previous-version server. Consider for instance your example of the Dragon Chainbody. If the DChain were the best piece of armor in the game again, and it was assured that there would never be updates, it would be seen as essential to get DChains. The KQ would basically be a GWD-esque spec spam fest, with the overpowered spec weapon of the age: the Dragon Dagger. Perhaps that sounded a bit slippery slope-ish, but it's pretty interesting to consider how 2012 knowledge and tactics would be applied to 2006 RS.

We have RSC, why not RS2 [LD]?
Do you think they have the 2006 version of RS saved somewhere? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only reason they were able to do this for RSC is because they were practically writing a new game in the "upgrade" to RS2, which is why RSC's case isn't a very good precedent. You could say that in RS2's case, they were too stubborn to change to an entirely new game for a very long time, so such a thing wouldn't be possible. This is often where you hear "legacy issues" stemming from. What we're playing still is the 2006-2008 version, just with a ton of things slapped on. Even the "HD" upgrade to RS2 wasn't as big of a change, and the HTML5 switch still won't make it "RS3."

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Yeah, I know. But I don't like to import because all of my stuff is set up, so usually a friend with little stake in beta will do it for me. I made the misguided assumption that my friend who was getting claws bronze - mith to import picked up black ones too, but the 7k or so that they cost was too rich for his blood and he neglected to tell me until he imported...

Friend quit, gave me this (on live): Screenshot on beta because I thought the face would be fixed... Black Halberd "Oh, wow. Black weapons look spectacular, let's collect them all!" Black Claw More to come, possibly. Like when I find that other claw.

Yeah, I figured that out after I got the same task today and just did a C6 small for another 273k :P

Daily Challenges & Noticeboard
It did just want a C1 and C6 floor. Would be nice if it had just said that, but whatever. 273k xp

Odd that I never noticed key doors differ beneath the large glow. EDIT Glad I got the last piece off free spins on the last day :) Got a piece every day they were on uncommon actually.

Daily Challenges & Noticeboard
Just tried to do the C1 floor task. Finished 2 C1 floors now, still didn't check it off or let me redeem the reward... I pinned the task in the first place, what else do I have to do? Does using a higher floor matter?

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I believe the original point was that 1 defense mage pures were more viable now because staves confer all of the needed damage and accuracy. I'm not sure about how much ranged pures benefit, as I don't know if D'hide chaps/vambs still require no defense level. Even if D'hide does require defense, ranged pures are still on par with mage ones seeing as their weapons hold all of the accuracy too. All pures should benefit quite a bit from the LP change, though.
