it's horrendous against high tier forgotten rangers and mages and i highly doubt it's as good on skeletons/ankous as you make it out to be. Xpx's told me ghosts are weak to crush, so the rapier would be pretty bad on them too. it's only 6% better dps than a primal battle axe. And it trades off the much more valuable crush attack style, for stab. Stab being redundant with ranged/hexhunters and occasionally redundant with magic. and of course you lose like ~55 slash attack bonus. Well it didn't seem quite "horrendous" on those T11 guys as long as I Turm flick appropriately, but I do that normally anyway. I've been exclusively doing larges with friends, which is relevant only because they encourage me to kill anything that's not in a dead end, meaning I've been going out of my way to kill things to test the Rapier more thoroughly... It's not great on Skeletons, but they're not the bane of my existence either. That's really all I was trying to say there... And I don't know what Ankous are weak to, and haven't used it on Warped floors yet. But it seems like the best thing VS almost all Occult monsters, most importantly the really annoying ones, which is why the 2nd half of your post confuses me a bit. Could you please go into more detail about how crush is more valuable? Well, and, there really was discussion about it as a main bind, and I was wondering what happened to that. At 100 I will likely bind a fun crush weapon, although perhaps that's beside the point.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
I've been using Primal Rapier as my main bind since a bit before 99 and I haven't figured out what it ISN'T good for, except for SOME Skeletons. Stab seems effective against low-med level melee and ranged Skeletons and I surge the melee 156s (?) so the only thing that I can't seem to hit well are the higher mage Skeletons. Also it seems like Fleshspoiler is weak to stab, which is kind-of an added bonus. I'm just wondering why it isn't under the list of exceptions lol (like as long as you have a CSB for high def melee monsters?)... I swear there was some discussion on this, maybe on the 3rd bind thread. Oh, and thank you Obt for the 3rd bind thread, as I've been going by the list of monsters from there lol. Maybe Ankous will prove resilient. I don't know what their weakness is, but that's the only thing I can think of at the moment.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
I don't want to put words in your mouth xpx, but I coulda sworn you at one time said T10 Tactician was about equivalent to T8 Berserker, which implied to me it had some use at which it would excel. I'll drop it though, as I don't plan to waste tokens on it myself (for whatever niche uses it does or does not have which were miniscule enough for you not to mention them ;) ) and don't want people to assume it's worth using simply because it was brought up... Err, Grimy, why does your siggy have Spreadsheets in it but no links?- Yay, Veteran Dungeoneer!
It's been a while since I had something actually worth an entry!! 99 Dungeoneering! Missed level-up message because of being in full screen, lol. No party, because most of the people I actually DGed with to get it weren't on at the time. Will start actually DGing with DGS instead of just consulting them! I still wanna get a lot of things. Currently, I have T9 rings which I would like to max out (466k tokens?). And four Chaotics... Rapier, Maul, Kite, and Bow. I'd like to get Eagle-Eye, Farseer, and Staff. [bleep] CLS. I have absolutely no use for it and I hate that it tricks people... So that's 600k more tokens!! As well as the two prayers, 153k and 140k, and all of those scrolls, (10 + 20 + 20) 50k more... 1409k more tokens? Loool. Looks like I'll be getting 106.5 Dungeoneering. Probably 107 for World-Gorger. Maybe 113 (big maybe!) if I'm not super sick of DGing by then...- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Yay Missed lvlup message but it's cool I really didn't have a big party. TY friends for DGing with me! TY DGS for providing info and support! I'll have to pay you back by actually DGing with you guys. Still want 3 binds, T10 rings, and all Chaotix.- 07-Jun-2011 Deadliest Catch
I agree with this in particular, but as well as interfaces, new game mechanics that it seems they use once and then never again. Although I didn't really enjoy the tracking part (respective portion of the quest aside -.- ) I liked that they reused the ship/vehicle type thing from Clockwork Syringe. They need to do this more often, and update older quests to use newer mechanics like I thought they said they were going to do a long time ago.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
Sorry, I had a much better post that got eaten by back button but Why is Tactician mocked so? The idea is sound: "DG monsters have high Defense so I should be more accurate to compensate." I don't use it and don't recommend it to friends, I'm just really curious as to why there isn't some strategy or bind set-up involving it. It would be the "obvious" choice to someone who did a few dungeons and didn't know better. I have a feeling it would be considerable if it could be used with multiple styles on the same weapon like Berserker, and that it isn't "horrible" in its own right, but only when compared to Berserker. It just seems unfair that a few people probably did do extensive research which deemed it simply suboptimal which everyone else bandwagoned on taking it out of context and calling it complete garbage...- 07-Jun-2011 Deadliest Catch
What was the treasure bit about? I forgot to loot any during the quest...- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Happens to me constantly too, but only with a few specific people :???:- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
Thanks for the offer, I'll probably take it. Originally I just didn't want to waste someone's time if I were going to find a Battleaxe or Rapier soon anyway but it seems my luck with T11 drops is very unreliable and I only get them when it serves to coerce me into bad choices! I charged it in a solo floor so I had to use a Strong Artisan to create the Blood Runes. I didn't actually know how many it was so I made like 300 so I wouldn't have to boost again. I thought it was 125 too, and it is, but you can fill it up to 250 for whatever reason. It won't carry inbetween floors though. I'm loving the CSB. I can usually make a normal fire staff in the starting room. T11 warriors are actually fun to kill now! As an aside, I wanted to ask Is (my friend calls it this) mage-safing an acceptable (at least for DGS) tactic for Thunderous? You take damage but there's little to no chance of screwing it up, lol. Or is this considered a crutch? I dunno if that's an often used term so I'll define it: You stand in the center of the two safety pillars with Pro/Def Magic and surge Thunderous and just take one step to either side when he announces his special attack. Yes, you take guaranteed damage this way, but it maxes at about 150 or so and you just walk behind the pillar to heal up.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
I think that's all in order. :) Now to do something about this warhammer -.- Can't seem to get T11 drops from Thunderous or Riftsplitter. It's frustrating! And before now I thought there was no sense in getting someone to make me 2H when I'd just get a weapon to replace it soon anyway. [spoiler=Fun story!] I duoed a warp with my friend and got Primal Longsword. I'm pretty sure my thought was "Wow, this is prettier than Battleaxe, and exactly like it except for trading crush for stab!" Wrong. Stab is controlled, doesn't utilize the ring. Also I think the str and slash bonuses are lower than Battleaxe... [Next day] Doing furn rushes trying to get Rapier because I thought it would be a good choice if everyone else had Battleaxes. No luck! We get Rammernaut, and Primal Maul on a duo. "How much worse can it be than Longsword?" Hell no, it's slow, like 2H, but doesn't slash. [Next day] Out of all floors except Ab2, doing those with friend again. We get Pummeller, and, surprise surprise, Primal Warhammer. "Faster than Maul? Okay, sure, whatever." Currently have it. It's not absolutely horrible but obviously Battleaxe would be better for a huge amount of monsters! ^ All these events happening with some occ mixed in purely on Thunderous floors with no luck with Battleaxe drops.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
Err, also, what difference does each upgrade to the Berserker ring make? The first post says it's non-trivial, but 230k tokens seems like quite a bit to pay for T10. I do have T9 though. :) As far as i can remember: Berserker raises your DPS by 1% for every tier. Blazer raises your DPS by 2.5% for every tier T10 Zerker = 10% DPS T10 Blazer = 25% DPS I could be wrong though ;) I was hoping someone could actually define what the 1% translates to in actual max hit or... something? Like, what does it actually do for 99 strength with turmoil and battleaxe? What's the difference between T9 and T10? Just pointing it out, but I originally quoted myself as well; I could really use a guide on monster weaknesses. I just got 70 RC (no surgebox yet but I'm looking -.-) and I'm, err, in between good weapons... Trying to get Battleaxe or Rapier asap but if I even got rapier I wouldn't know what to focus on anyway, aside from squishy things.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.

I found both the pelt and swords one door out, in their respective floors. It shouldn't take more than one or two complete smalls. :) That said, they seemed to only appear in the more generic rooms, including deadends.- Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
How do I initiate a rapier hunt, and am I allowed to advertise this in the CC? I don't use it very often... Is there a guide to monster weaknesses and priorities based on weapon? 98DG and I still don't know what the hell Fire Giants are weak to, aside from Magic, lol. Nor do I know what "lower theme" monsters like hobs are weak to... been doing a lot of low floors for the benefit of returning friends and low DG clanmates.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!

Thank you for the continued rare Slayer drops that spit in the face of my hoodless friend.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Thank you for the two incredibly rare but worthless Slayer drops. I'm sure my hoodless friend really appreciated them with all 6 or so Nightspiders present in the same floor with no hood drop. <_<- 01-Jun-2011 Fremennik Sagas
The Thok one was definitely where all the effort was focused! I'm so glad someone shares my feelings for the Gorajo! Hahaha... The first one felt incredibly unpolished. The first debut of the S H? So many small things that destroyed any smoothness or cohesiveness... For one, everytime I would enter or leave a room, the other two characters would spaz out, running into corners for no reason... For another, two of the characters were supposed to have some conversation, but since I set one to wait, he said nothing while the other carried on with himself, still spazzing up and down the room. The only good part was probably the Kata knight. At least JaG can still do humor. Haven't done the 2nd one yet. My friend said it was the worst one, that you got poisoned and were basically on a time limit the entire span. No "fun" bugs yet, unfortunately.- Jagex taking stance
They really lower the atmosphere of the game for me, although I wouldn't say this is applies at all times. It's just like if you're doing a quest in certain areas in fullscreen with sounds and trying to actually get into the storyline and enjoy it, seeing a string of company-controllled bots (not sure what else to call them to differentiate) kinda kills any atmosphere you could get. I've said this before in other ways, but more casual players just looking for that next level won't care as much as someone playing for the feel of the game or people who actually roleplay and do stuff like that, although they seem to be a dying breed. Also I'd say that at least the Graahk RC bots legitimately ruined or at least drastically reduced Nature RCing as a decent moneymaking method. RC sucks, fully understood. So, rather obviously, if that bot weren't around, there wouldn't be people RCing in the volume they are at the moment. The amount of Natures being produced is unnatural, but then thet same could be said of many items...- At what level is it efficient to use an effigy
"When does the XP gained from a Dragonkin Lamp eclipse what I could earn hourly training Runecraft with normal methods?" I think that might be the best restatement of your question. :) Which I can't answer, however the XP table on this page will be helpful: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonkin_lamp 20,906xp from a Dragonkin Lamp at level 75.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
*Names marked out because [bleep] em. The only person I didn't mark out and I decided to go to W148 to attempt to get him a Primal Battleaxe since he'd just become able to access those floors. Of course this meant fighting a boss that neither of us (even I at 97 DG) had any experience with And of course, our rather pisspoor teammates didn't want anything to do with it, except to run in and die and get me killed twice by the magic attack! But it was worth it. We both got some good practice, it felt good to beat it just by us two, and he got his battleaxe! And there's your inspirational story for the night. :)- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
I don't even know...- soul split vs protection prayer
Seems to be a lot of jealousy here about how some people can buy 95+ prayer and some can't. I mean, that's what it boils down to, although feel free to argue, because I know someone will. Soulsplit doesn't equal Protect prayers. Deflects are the equivalent of Protects. Soulsplit is the equivalent of Smite. Equivalent does not mean equal, however. If there is some point to non-stake fun duels other than seeing big hits, please enlighten me. If you're going to use Protect from Melee in a non-stake melee duel with absolutely nothing on the line just to spite me for having had trained to 92/95 Prayer, yeah, I may ridicule you. But more likely than that, I'll throw on Deflect Melee, Chaotic Kiteshield, and Torag's. How much fun is this long, drawn-out duel now? - Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.
