  1. Unfortunately or not, just because JaGEx might make more money doesn't mean the game itself will see any of it. I really don't even understand that line of thinking, actually. On/off topic, but why do people think that boosted membership or higher membership costs translate directly into an improved game? As it is true for most of the rest of everything, people do what works, AKA the bare minimum. Further profits would most likely go to their pockets or advertisement or other business ventures, but not RuneScape itself... ... :(
  2. [spoiler=This?] They could put together a good story from WGS, ETC. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to blow up the boring parts to be appropriate for the big screen. I wouldn't even put it past making a nice 90-120 min feature film from just Nomad's Reqiuem... I simply hope that when they write the movie they remember that A LOT of their content is [quite obviously] based on other works, so much so to be noticed by the general public, and attempt to steer clear of that a bit... And finally, LOL@that guy blaming the US for this, if he was actually serious. RS is on the internet. The internet is everywhere.
  3. Must've missed the correlation of today's updates with buying Dungeoneering Slayer items for binds... Unless this came from the HHB/ring fix. However, at that, they are drops from Slayer monsters. Why not let Slayer level be incorporated into the price? Or there are other ways to go about this. Perhaps one could buy the ability for Slayer monsters to spawn much more often, or for a higher rate of whatever important drop from that particular monster. I don't care much about HHBs but I do wish SSHs were easier to get. At the moment the rate for them seems far more 'skewed' than any other Slayer-specific drops... (Just my 2 cents on the off-topic discussion at hand, lol...)
  4. I actually liked that they reused the characters from other events. A definite improvement from the factories... No idea why people are [bleep]ing about the rewards being cosmetic. Plenty of people are wearing the ice crown, and it's actually pretty unique in appearence. 20% reduction in Livid was unexpected yet entirely welcome. I'm slightly more incentivized to go now... And yet still procrastinating. And I guess the items kept on death update is alright. Some of my friends freak out even when they have the time to get back to their grave, so I should think this to help calm them. I should think that only incredibly jaded veterans are complaining about this.
  5. Great for bot-busting, worthless for its intended purpose... :( So many one-man-clans put theirs out to show off their awful style, basically annoying anyone else and causing legitimate standards to be ignored. At least you all are doing some good with them though!
  6. Sorry, but I don't really understand the point of this. Most of the time it's fairly unanimous that the best way to do something is the most efficient... It seems like all this can do is 'allow' users to troll the normal H&A on the technicality that if they [target of said trolling, the topic starter] want the most efficent advice, they should use the Metagame thread. That, or normal H&A will simply die...
  7. Speaking of, I wonder when the grandest tree of them all will be getting an update...
  8. I simply wish that people could say their part in a thread and move on. I remember that time, I just don't remember when it was...
  9. I've barely been skimming TIF the past week (update topic and pictures, that's about it); this so-called "[cabbage]storm" pretty much went its merry way over my head too, but I'm understanding the gist of it. However, I remember checking Mr. Martyr's forum profile and finding it didn't say banned, so I was confused. Someone can PM me an unbiased, succinct account of events if they wish. And to be honest, I didn't even know "trolling" was going on anywhere but GD. And further honesty, I didn't know what the damn word meant it was being thrown around so recklessly. And sorry, OP, I know this isn't really what this thread's about, so... OT: The dust will settle whether or not zionists wish to go through the pains of staying and rebuilding or simply escaping to some haven...
  10. So I found out to change the name of my clan, I had to disband and create it again, which was severely difficult the first time trying to get the 5 people I wanted all on at once. Definitely not suspicious!
  11. Is it possible for me to change the name of my clan without disbanding it? Believe it or not, I've already put quite a lot of work into customizing/filling out everything... -.-
  12. I thought it was amusing anyway... (I'm the guy in red, not quester in white.)
  13. Yeah, I'm kinda starting to like it now that I was actually able to get enough people on at once to make it. It's quite a bit more in-depth than some are giving it credit for! Also I've gotten a few compliments on mine, probably just because it doesn't have a partyhat on it like every second one I've seen, LOL. I wish they would use "\" for clan chat and "/" for friend chat...
  14. I was wondering this as well. It's unfortunate that the other Group spells can't be easily tested (can Heal Group even be used?) in Castle Wars...
  15. Anti-flood measure. The only way for cheaters to register a clan for the fancy clan cape is through multi-logging. Not like it'll stop the serious ones since there's at least one client that's coded in multilogging, but it will slow down the greedy lemming types. Or to get random people to help them found a clan, then just kick them off after it has been founded. Thus, free custom capes for the individual only. ;) It's always the simple things, innit. EDIT: on another matter, does anyone know if the private clan forums are hosted on the same servers as the highscores/grand exchange/adventure log and whatnot? Because either three have a tendency to be...lacking at times. It's pretty easy with Windows 7 to do so without cheating using a special client, but that wasn't even my point. I want four specific people to be in the "founding" positions, not some randoms or alts, but they made it to where all 4/5 people have to be on at once for no visibly good reason... <_<
  16. Why oh why must everyone be on at once to form a clan? Does this cement those original founders in a specific position?
  17. They've said and shown a few things, such as a new ranking system for Clan Wars, new customizable clan capes... http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Clan_camp A nicer list. Can't wait a day?
  18. I pay $5 cuz of the legacy thing or whatever. So yeah, they've had my money since when it was actually my parents' money. $5 is worth 3 or more new shiny colorful things to do a month; weekly updates are a big part of why I still play! If they doubled that, they would have to make the game easier to keep me here. As in, they would have to create a non-grinding alternative for many skills and lower death penalties even more than they plan to this month. Basically, I would have to want to play, which isn't exactly the case currently. I think I speak for most people when I say that once you get to 70-80 stats, or even 60 for some skills, whatever original satisfaction goes away from "training" and it becomes a full grind if there isn't a dynamic changing minigame or other alternative. The graphics are grand in a few places, mediocre in a large part, and hellish everywhere but the main couple of areas. If there was a huge, all-encompassing graphic update the game would feel of much higher quality. I don't know who finds it fun to click the same couple of things repeatedly for hours on end (unless means justify ends, as earlier in thread ^), or die and lose almost all of their items. I can't do that anymore, but I'm still here - once again - for the frequent updates. I feel like this thread boils down to what we don't like about the game than appreciating what value it gives us... #-o
  19. Actually, I think we just confirmed that it's the latter - giving a group Vengeance...
  20. If it does work like I originally assumed, I guess this isn't a totally lost cause. Well, except that Vengeance doesn't affect Nex anyway, which is probably the only situation people would be serious enough to get it for... Then again, it might. There have been a ton of little loopholes like that (IE newer cannons working in non-multi)...
  21. How much in runes did you use? About 10m How about a picture of using it?? :)
  22. Although logical, this is all hypothetical. I don't have the spell. As far as I know, no one on these forums does either. Assumptions I am making!: -It is a "group" spell, so it affects a 3x3 radius from the caster. (Tested with my available "group" spells. Potion Share has a 5x5 range, like Wrath, but does not have "group" in its name.) -It is similar to Vengeance Other, so it does not count as being cast by the receiving player. --The receiving player can immediately afterwards cast a Vengeance spell themselves. -It is a Vengeance spell, so it has a 30 second cooldown time. --That it only activates if damage is actually received, like normal Vengeance, unlike the other new combat spell, Disruption Shield. -That it is like other "group" spells and grants Vengeance rather than harming those surrounding. (I think this is a given, simply put for comprehension!) A J-Mod has confirmed that it affects up to 50 targets at once. This means that if X number of players are within one square of the caster, 1 cast counts as X number of Vengeances (+1). We now assume that the players: -Have Vengeance Group unlocked. -Have accept aid on. -Are close together (above!). -Are all hit at ONCE. This is the only thing that I'm not extremely sure about. I haven't Nex'd, but from videos and etc, it seems her normal attacks are directed at everyone, as an example. Correct me if I'm wrong. Depending on the attack speed and targeting ability of the afflicting monster and the number of players matching the above criteria, Vengeance Group could result in Vengeance damage every turn, or unlimited Vengeance. ^ "Mission statement" lol... I hope that someone who knows Nex's attack speed in seconds posts... In a practical sense however, Nex may hit far too hard with her normal everyone-targeting Magic attack for this to be viable there, as well as some of her stages making it ill-advised to stay close together or in one place. Examining other bosses, I feel that this method would be most useful at Armadyl God Wars Dungeon (maybe suffering from the same problem as above...), or perhaps any of the other 3. Minions might die before the boss itself does, although they could just be damaged and make "clean-up" after the boss easier.
  23. At least on this particular point, I would like to make you aware that you two are not at odds. Because RuneScape's grinding problem is relatively worse, there is more incentive to cheat to get ahead. However, I believe the OP is saying that this mere fact is unrelated to a perceived weakening of moral values while you are trying to get away with saying that it is the entire reason people cheat. Not directed at you, I think people need to accept that you can't completely separate yourself. Playing the game you are using the same body and mind that you live your life with. Hopefully one remains aware through the entire course of playtime that RS is a game. However, not everyone playing can be held to the same standards that people here have of themselves. I would say in fact that most people don't play RS as a RPG. I don't even know why I need to say that, it's pretty obvious. You did on your first post. and since your next post will probably proclaim that they are the same again... Besides the fact that one demonstrates your knowledge of a topic and can be used towards something REAL and the other shows how long you can do the same thing over and over again and is only there for e-peen and *GASP* entertainment. Seriously im loving this thread. Sometimes this forum gets slow and then trolls like this come and spice things up  I don't even know what troll means anymore thanks to increasingly flagrant use.
  24. I think the rather beautiful word we're looking for here is desensitization. Cheating and cutting corners in a fake world CAN definitely lessen those barriers between "wrong" and "right" in that individual's head. The mind carries between the game and life. Perhaps not expressly in this thread, but often I see people here publicly oppose botting and yet defend the impulses behind it which is just... -.- Also, funny thing is I started writing this post before the above 3 or 4, so...
