  1. I've had my void range gear for quite a while and I'd say that if you plan to range frequently then it really is a must have. However, as the above have said, if you are fighting something with very high defence (for example the KBD) then your black dragonhide will be of much more use to you because you will have too much trouble hitting it to notice the 10% bonus. In response to the above, as others have said, you do hit higher with the void armour but you hit less frequently. Since hellhounds don't have very high defence you won't notice this so much but if you go to the metal dragons under brimhaven you'll notice the difference.
  2. Whenever I've seen a (trimmed) crafting cape I've always found that the yellow trim stands out quite alot. Maybe go with level 3 castle wars armour (but not the helm which is really quite ugly). However this is really quite hard to get so maybe not if you don't like castle wars :P Also, don't forget that the new graphical update is coming out next month so there's a good chance that alot of the outfits will look alot better/different after that. I'd advise that you wait until at least then before you start deciding what you're going to wear with it.
  3. Thank you both for your comments they're greatly appreciated. I'm glad that you think I've improved and I think I know the reason that you think it's confusing Julius (other than the flow of the render which now that I look at it does seem to be a little strange). This signature was my first where I wasn't at least in some way following a tutorial. I found some things that I wanted to implement into a signature (the render, the original background render which was of a car exploding and the c4d). I may have rushed in and put them all in without thinking how they would impact on each other. As well as that I recently downloaded about 200 new brushes and wanted to try as many of them as I could which probably didn't help loads :P In response to Chaz, yes I did blurr the render in the hope that it would help show the motion of the sword etc. I'll try sharpening up some of the key areas and experiment with the text and look for a different font maybe. I think the blurred effect of the background was due to me playing around with all my new brushes :P but I wanted to try and reduce how much the background stood out (which was alot at first). Thanks again for the advice and I'll try and make those improvements when I next have some spare time :)
  4. I've been working on this for a few days in and out of exams. My personal opinion of it is that it's my best to date and I quite like the text that I've done for it (it doesn't stand out quite so much any more in my opinion :P). I also think I've managed to blend the render with the backgtound much better than I've done previously. However there are a few bits which seem a bit yucky to me especially the 'blending' (lol) around the top left of the sword which I kinda messed up to be honest. Anyway, that's what I personally think. I'd very much like to hear everyone's c/c about it and hopefully improve it a bit so please share your advice :D (Please ignore the lack of a proper border because GIMP didn't want me to put one on for some reason :?)
  5. Speaking as someone who is new to signature making as well, I'd say it was a fairly decent attempt at a first signature. :D That said, there are a few issues which you should focus on improving in the future. Firstly I dislike the way the render looks as if it has just been copied and pasted (the black line around the render doesn't help), I'd suggest you get renders pre-cut and transparent so you dont have this issue. I was recommended http://www.planetrenders.net and none of the renders I've found there have the black lines that yours does. Also try increasing blending around the edges so there's a smooth transition from the render to the background. For the background I'd suggest you use lots of layers and try and increase the texture of the background so the render blends in a little. As to the font I don't think it really fits this style of signature and suggest you look harder for a font that fits with the signature (its harder than it sounds as I've discovered). Just do as everyone else suggests and do lots of tutorials and you'll do fine. I look forward to seeing your future works :)
  6. Thank you both very much. I don't know what I'd do without you :D And thank you chaz, you're right about the smudge and brushwork but I've currently only had GIMP for two days so I'm still getting to grips with it :P I actually hadnt considered messing with the opacity of the c4ds, I'll go and experiment :)
  7. Thank you very much for the advice unoalexi, I'll try harder with text in the future :P I briefly tried adding my name into the signature as you can see below. All I did was selected a colour from the background where it was lighter and then used the 'dodge' tool to blend it in a little bit. Does anyone know of any better tools which i can use to blend the text (and renders and c4d tbh) because although I don't mind the effect it's created it doesnt look that great in my opinion.
  8. Aha yes I purposely avoided text because I am truly awful at it. I'm hoping I'll find a decent tutorial to teach me how to add text that in some way matches the picture rather than just stands out as if it's just been stuck on top :P
  9. Thank you both very much :) I've basically been implementing the knowledge that I've learnt from the tutorials that I've found as I go along which I suppose could be the reason things don't fit together as well as they might. I'll try and focus on blending the image more effectively and perhaps look harder for c4ds that fit with the picture. I'm going to take a slight break from signature making because I have exams and have been neglecting revision but I should hopefully have my next piece up in the next week :D
  10. Hmm, you think? I chose a dark and a light colour from the render and made a gradient. I was hoping that it would kind of make her blend in a little rather than sticking out from really bright background. What does everyone else think?
  11. That's the second piece I've done (first is still in my signature space). This is my second day using GIMP. Tell me what you think, compare it to my first and tell me where it's better/worse. All c/c welcome :)
  12. Yeah, I realised that it was far from perfect and I'm very glad that everyone is being so honest rather than just lying and saying it's great when it clearly isn't. I agree that there is very little detail in the picture but for my first attempt I didn't want to try and overcomplicate things just yet. To be honest I didn't like the text massively either but I didn't have that link that Julius gave me :) I definitely will look at the tutorials on deviantart and thankyou for your honesty, I appretiate it :D
  13. Haha confused would be an understatement :P It took me about half an hour to work out how to anchor the render to the background. Yeah I like deviantart too, it was the original source of my background before I tried out loads of different effects (i was pretty much changing half of the settings then just undoing if I didn't like the effect lol), but I will look into the tutorials there. As to the render could you recommend any good websites for obtaining them. I used http://www.gamerenders.com but I found they all seemed to be very FPS based. Thank you for your time :)
  14. Basically can you just give me your opinions on my new signature. It's the first ever signature that I've made and I'm quite happy with it :) Bear in mind that this is the first ever vaguely artistic piece that I have ever created. I downloaded GIMP yesterday and this was how I tried it out.
  15. Wow that really is colourful :o I like it very much :)
  16. 6/10. The laser is cool but it lacks colour.
  17. This is a vast improvement. it looks very professional now. I love the new skin and the new layout but as master smither said above, i think a little work needs to be done on the smilies, other than that i think its flawless. Great work! :D
  18. I wanted to be called Zodiark like from the game final fantasy (note that i never wanted to be zodiac or zodiak as everyone seems to think) but unfortunately that was taken so i just went for z0diark and hoped that it was still there so i didn't need any irrelevant numbers at the end. My first account I actually abandoned just because it had numbers at the end of the name :P
  19. Less people have 99 runecrafting than 99 agility... Plus f2p can also train runecraft whereas only members can train agility so there will be even fewer people with runecrafting capes than have 99 runecraft :)
  20. To be honest it's probably best to just go for whichever of the two skills that you prefer most. Looking at your stats I'd say that was probably runecraft but I could be wrong. Just remember that both of the skills take a very long time to reach 99 so if you don't like the skill then you're less likely to follow through with it all the way to the end. Don't be put off by the fact that runecrafting is not as profitable as it once was, it's still one of the best ways to make money, especialy once you've reached 91 :D And early congrats on 99 woodcutting =D>
  21. When I had low level runecrafting and wanted to train it up quickly i made airs. If you go to the air running world (i think w16 or something) then there will probably be a few other people running between the bank and the altar and you can follow them if you're feeling lazy and don't want to keep clicking :P As well as this, if you are any good at combat then you may want to play fist of guthix and spend your points on the air-crafting gauntlets which will double your experience per essence.
  22. I see what you're saying but at the same time I was experiencing the problems, my friend who lives nearby and has the same ISP as me was able to access the site so surely he'd experience the problem too. On top of this, I'm certain that it was to do with the windows updates that I installed since someone else on another forum had the exact same problem as me a few days ago and he too fixed the issue by installing the windows updates. Surely if there was a problem at my ISP's end then installing these updates wouldn't solve the problem :?
