  1. I was one of the very first people to get an 'untrimmed' 120 dg cape (perhaps in the top 20). I have mined every single rock in Gielinor. Before dungeoneering, I had the most balanced non-maxed stats (all 80 non-cb, all 85 cb).
  2. So sick of this dammed activity. Caught all of the jadinkos 12 weeks in a row, received witchdoctor robes every single time. Is it even possible to own 2 pairs of witchdoctor legs? Do I have to choose the receive farming exp? Why does the RNG hate me so...
  3. For an extremely competant team, which waves should be completed to fill penance horn the fastest? I've heard 1-6 is best, but no one seems certain.
  4. I've noticed something similar when training dungeoneering: if I do a do a lot of floors in one go, doorlag gets worse and worse.
  5. 30 zamorak favour potions will last 450 minutes, and you'll get 495 minutes worth of exp during that time. So if you can get 30 zamorak favour potions in 45 minutes, they're definately worth using. Even if it takes slightly longer to get that many, they may still be worth using as you get hunter exp for hunting the zamorak jadinkos.
  6. The thing about language, especially in mathematics and science, is that it's allowed to be context specific. The accepted meaning of words is usually defined by the way people use them, not the other way round. If the 'official' definiton of a word doesn't match common usage, it's the official definition that will change - that's how language evolves. I'm not suggesting that language is evolving in this case, merely that we have a context specific defition of the phrase 'drop rate'. In this case, there are no 'drop rates' in runescape, only 'drop chances'. Hence, we can call them 'drop rates' with no ambiguity. It's context specific; when somebody uses the phrase 'drop rate' in regards to runescape, it can be implicitly assumed that it is a 'one in x chance' being referred to, simply because there are no 'kill monster x times for 100% chance of drop' cases in runescape. If we used the phrase 'drop rate' in a different game where the distinction was important, the phrase might have a different meaning. If somebody has any idea at all how runescape works, they obviously know that every time you kill a monster, you have x chance of getting a certain drop. Saying "Killing x monsters does NOT give you a 100% chance of drop: it's RANDOM!" is just insulting their intelligence.
  7. A fast way is just to make any flatpack item requiring 2 planks. Beasts of burden help. If you can use a pack yak, making kitchen tables (3 planks) give faster construction exp.
  8. Jagex seems to have over-active community-management and marketing departments. In small doses their input might improve the game, but they seem to be doing too much, too fast. It may perhaps be a sense of obligation on their part to do something with the time they're being paid for, even if it doesn't actually improve anything. That's complete speculation on my part though, I know less than nothing about how Jagex works. With regards to the MLP, it's the first update that's really depressed me. If Jagex keeps up with stunts like this I think I'll end my membership.
  9. Ooh, here's a good one to try I just thought of: Congratulations, you have won £1000!!!! Click the 'Accept Appeal' button to claim your prize!
  10. Marmaros and Thok journals can only be obtained by monster drops in certain floors. All other dg journals are obtained from bosses. I went from 99-120 dg without ever seeing some of Marm and Thok lower journals, so I would assume you can only get them by killing monsters on lower floors. I'd like to know on precisely which floors you can get the various Marm and Thok letters, as it will save me some time when I go hunting for them.
  11. You should always use a ring for combat. Use t1 desp when ranging and t1 blazer when maging at the very least.
  12. If you buy and sell at GE price, blue is currently cheaper than green. It reminds me of when teak logs were cheaper construction exp than oak a few months back.
  13. I don't know for certain, but I remember reading that: (i) losing out on a bigger drop will increase your lsp more (ii) the higher the ge value of the drop, the less each gp worth of lsp matters for whether or not you get that drop So if you miss a 10k and mass for a 100m drop, your chances will hardly be increased at all Whereas if you miss a 100m drop and mass for a 10k, your chances of getting the 10k drop rise much more. So it would be best to get lsp at monsters with high value drops (corp) then use the lsp on monsters with lower value drops. This is all mostly guesswork, I haven't done any tests or anything.
  14. For ranged, mercenary's gloves give better dps than barrows gloves if you don't need defence.
  15. Concerning maging: I've found using both leech def and leech mage to be important on certain monsters. Against high level fire giants and ghosts, using those prayers increases dps by a noticable amount. Most other magable monsters have low mage defence, so no need to leech against them. Can someone who has experience doing dging with a team of 100+ dgers and no defensive binds tell me: how long does the average 5:5 c6 large floor take with a team like that?
  16. I got both the classic and veterans cape. The emotes for both were pretty good, so I'm happy. The classic cape emote is good as it is, nothing too flashy. I found it interesting that apart from all 99s, I've done everything needed for completionists other than a single task and the livid farm. That's my next goal - to do everything needed for completionists, with dugeoneering remaining my only 99+ skill.
  17. A few thoughts on goals and efficiency. About goals: A goal cannot be efficient or inefficient. Arguing about whether or not a goal is efficient is like arguing what turquoise tastes like. For example: say Alice has goal 'Get 99 woodcutting as fast as possible' and Bob has goal 'Get 99 woodcutting by only chopping normal or oak trees'. Neither goal is efficient or inefficient. There is, however, a most efficient way to complete both goals. The most efficient way to complete Bob's goal is inefficient for Alice's goal, and the most efficient way to complete Alice's goal doesn't work with Bob's goal at all. I've seen this scenario happen a few times on the forums. A: What is the most efficient way to complete goal X? B: Goal X is inefficient. Complete goal Y instead. In this case B isn't helping A be more efficient; they're suggesting an entirely different goal. Any goal, no matter how arbitrary, has a most efficient method (it can be assumed the costs are money and time unless otherwise stated). A player with a goal that doesn't involve maximising exp/hr isnt necessarily being inefficient. About efficiency: Efficiency is not synonymous with fastest exp/hr, no matter how many people think so. The true meaning of efficiency is completing a goal whilst minimising costs, or maximising a target using limited resources (or some combination of the two). The costs don't have to be money and time*. The objective doesn't have to be experience or money. As long as the objective is being maximised, and costs are being minimised, the player is being efficient. If we're being really pedantic, whenever there are 2 or more types of cost (usually money and time) there has to be some way of equating them to work out the efficiency of a method- how much gp is 1 second worth? Another thing: efficiency is meaningless without a goal. So slayer, as a method, is not efficient. It isn't inefficient either. It only becomes one of those things after a goal has been stated. If your goal is to train agility, it's an inefficient method; if your goal is to train slayer or combat, it's an efficient method. *Sidenote here: the costs need to be something that is quantifyable and takes effort to aquire, so in RuneScape, money and time are really the only viable choices (with money then being equated to time, so really just time. And then there's the whole irl time vs rs time. I'll admit I don't really have any idea when it goes this deep). If for some reason you want to achieve a goal whilst minimising exp gained, you might count exp gained as a cost, along with time. It could be included into the goal (ie. get a pimped up cannon without getting over 800k smith exp) with money and time remaining the costs to be minimised to complete the goal efficiently. I don't really know which makes more sense.
  18. If you check all the runescape worlds (by typing 'runescape select a world' into google and selecting second option), you'll see all the worlds are empty. So how are those 2 people playing?
  19. This should be a good chance to stock up on 'Stuff' for brewing. Even on the official Trouble Brewing world, the place is empty most of the day. Although it's probably going to turn into a firefighting fest. All these communtiy and clan events are probably the inevitable result of Jagex paying people to do community stuff.
  20. The manual still states that the ring of wealth only affects the 'rare drop table'; the one shared by lots of monsters with rune items, gems and some dragon stuff on it. They added its teleports and other effects to the manual, but didn't change what they said about how it affects monster drops.# Also: do you get exp for the lowest undone floor even if it Never mind, question answered by manual. If you do an occult floor, the game wont give you prestige if you've already done all occult floors, even if you have other floor left undone. OOOH, the dg prestige update means that if everyone has the required dungeoneering lvl, any row done in the occult floors should aim to end on 47. The will become standard for 3bo, I am sure of it; any row in occult floors is assumed to end on 47, as this means anyone with that number of unticked floors in occult will be able to do the row, with no loss of exp.
  21. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going with keying with longsword and surgebox. I might use magic on high level undead if it turns out to be more effective. Having over 50m dg exp, I'm fairly confident that my dps and overall usefulness will not suffer too greatly. @Quyneax: Getting 99 in all combat skills through slayer, and then getting 120 dg, is by far the most efficient way if I wished to become maxed in combat skills. My goal is different (and completely arbitrary): 120 dg with 95 in att str def mage range. I've always worked towards arbitrary skill sets; they aren't too uncommon (usually because people want an untrimmed cape or low cb lvl). Still, thank you for the advice.
  22. Thnaks for the advice. Blitzer and blazer are very close in terms of dps - the difference is something like 0.6 damage per second, due to rounding. But blazer conserves runes, so blazer is better if you're a pure mage. Blitzer is arguably better that isn't an issue.
  23. I should easily be able to get 120 dg by the time I get 95 def if I key, even if I fight as much as possible. And the strength doors wont even get me close to 96 str. Even if I went for 200m. The dps from pure mage really shouldn't be underestimated - with a mage top, it equals or beats melee against any undead over 150cb. I think I'll go for the melee option though, and become a pro epic legendary keyer. I might go improve my keying skills a bit in w117 dungeoneering hell (good training, as you have to key with no food and remember every single key door).
  24. I am an avid dungeoneerer (113 at time of writing) and a reasonably good keyer (compared to the average in 3bo). I'm aiming for 120 dg, and also want to try and get a certain skill set: 95 in attack, strength, defence, mage and range. Unfortunately, I've reached 95 attack and strength already. So the question is, what should I use for dungeoneering? I currently have a surgebox and doomcore staff bound (I got the drop last floor, but its stats are appalling). My ring is completely maxed out. Stats: 95 attack 94 strength (30k from 95) 90 defence 91 range 90 magic 1) Pure magic [blazer/Blaster] Shadowsilk hood, Spiritbloom robetop, Doomcore/Empowered earth/empowered catalytic staff, Surgebox Doomcore has 25% magic damage bonus and -10 magic attack. Max hit with air surge: 275. Max hit with earth surge: 325. Empowered catalytic has 20% magic damage bonus and +15 magic attack. Max hit with air surge: 264. Max hit with earth surge: 312. Empowered earth has 10% magic damage bonus and +13 magic attack. Max hit with earth surge: 286. This does decent damage against demons, undead and warriors, but the lack of accuracy is a problem against everything else. However, against high level undead and demons, magic can almost keep up with or beat the dps from melee weapons, due to the very high accuracy. Blaster ring on quickswitch would also help to avoid damage. 2) Defence and magic [Tank/Blazer] Shadowsilk hood, Promethium platebody, Prom 2h/Prom baxe/Prom longsword, Surgebox Not using the berserker ring would drop my melee dps by quite a bit. The longsword or baxe would lower that even further, but can be used with the tank ring to lower damage taken by 15%. If I went with this option, I would be sure to tank as often as possible. 3) Range and mage [Desperado/Blazer] Shadowsilk hood, Gravecreeper shortbow, Tyrannoleather body, Promethium arrows (p++) This option would require me to make surges every floor. Nearly everything in dungeons are weak to either range or mage (the only exception I can think of are rangers). I don't think this is the best choice. Edit: One more thing to note: I don't care too much about my own defence. I only want to be as useful as possinle to the rest of my team. There is no such thing as an inefficient goal. Only inefficient means.
  25. You lose respect for getting the rewards? That's just silly. Why call it respect then? Surely tokens would make more sense. After hours and hours of making ceremonial swords, burial armour and mine tracks, merely suggesting that you would like to 'bling' your dwarf multicannon immediately causes the dwarvern smiths to be so offended at your outrageous lack of taste and style, that they instantly lose all respect they have for you.
