  1. All those who are saying 200m experience comes to around level 126...well 126 isn't a big deal now, all thanks to Summoning. If they really are alligning the skill cap along with combat, then the new cap would at level 138. Stupid question now, I see you people saying level 100-126 as you progress through your experience in a skill, but it really doesn't affect anything does it? I mean, a person with 200m experience will be the same as a person with 13m experience? As I said, it was a stupid question :P Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  2. In my opinion, if people really are thinking of bursting/barraging for charms, then stick to Rock Lobsters. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  3. I and my friend did a few runs there. It went quite beautifully, with both of us getting more than normal charms each in lesser periods of time. However, the next time I went, most of the charms went to him due to his LSP being high. As such, it gets very hard to convince people that CT isn't a bad spot, and out of those select few, not many are there who wouldn't come LSP-loaded. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  4. [*:1rdffc3h]Actually, shark fishing to 99 also trains strength if you fish without a harpoon. So it isn't a difference, really. [*:1rdffc3h]If you're training on just spiritual mages, well then you aren't killing your slayer task, now are you? You're not training slayer at all. (Besides, I'm told that green dragons are faster profit than off-task spiritual mages anyway.) Spiritual Mages only get unlocked after extensive Slayer training. Surely, you would consider them as a reward from Slayer? Like for example, people keep talking about how Summoning is useful (it is), but once you get a Unicorn/Steel Titan, you don't actually use the familiar to train that skill. In the case of Summoning, the rewards and training is in 2 different directions. Slayer is about the same. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  5. Only the teeniest of differences. You train 2 skills instead of one in that double time. :| And anyway, its not like Slayer has any other way to train it (which I expect to change after Soul Wars comes out), so you have only one option. And by the way, training that Spiritual Mages beats Armoured Zombies by FAR. If we take Slayer as a skill, its rewards should count too (Spiritual mages, Abyssal Demons), not only the training methods. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj

Sorry if I misinterpreted, but you don't want any weapon that is stronger than a Godsword coming out? --- Also, just because a few people went crazy and bought the claws for 80m+, it in no way means you make other people face the consequences who mostly got them as a drop. Nerfing them would be a very bad thing, mind you. If there was a time to update them, it was 2-3 weeks after their release. I don't think you'll see any change after 3 months. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj Isn't that what was said about Pest Control...? That's another topic for another day, though. At my Strength level (97), and at level 99, with the highest amount of Strength bonus equipment (incl. prayers), my maximum hit is 40. Of course, with the special, I could hit probably double that. Compare that with the Godsword, which at my level of Strength and at 99, I can hit either 58 or 59. Only the AGS's special allows me to go above 70 (technically 71). Do you see a problem? A weapon that is level 60 can outclass a Godsword with a couple of lucky special hits. I really do think something must be done, and a fix to it sooner than later would be best. Indeed, they did update Pest Control, only because the change wouldn't affect some a great number of people in a big way. I mean yes, it would change the minigame, but the only people who would have lost something would be the ones who had upto 250 points and were looking to get some experience for them. They lost a bit of experience that way. A very small effect. On the other hand, Dragon Claws, if nerfed, would cause people to lose millions...upto 20m+. You know, 20m is never easy to earn. --- Well I don't see a big deal with something that outclasses a Godsword. And anyway, those high hits which we are talking about come only at every 5 minutes (or 2.5 minutes each), whereas the hits from Godsword have no limit at all. And whats wrong if Dragon Claws bring some more respect to the dragon weaponry series? Right after DFH, I expected none of the Dragon weapons/armour that were left to be released as anything worth for training/PvM. Dragon Claws were a nice surprise. About the hits, a certain weapon at 70 attack, when combined with a few more items and a special HP condition, hits consistently high, even higher than an AGS at times (non-spec). Yes, it's Dharok's Greataxe. And hey, you cannot keep avoiding the inevitable that sometime, in the near future, you WILL get a better weapon than a godsword. It may degrade over time, I have no idea. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  7. Godsword is good for slayer if Dragon Claws is your other option. WHIPS ARE NOT IN THIS DEBATE! For god's sake, do you even know what a comparison is? Honestly, drop it. Your logic makes no sense. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj

    a) Sorry, my methods have been updated - Armored Zombies is the new Zombie monkies, the difference is that Armored Zombies get charms + 190k profit :P Slayer, with 60k melee XP, is only 15k slayer XP (melee XP/4), but the whole respect thing is different - you may be training more skills, but your training them almost half as slowly. So I'll be maxed while your combat skills are still 92-93; I could go on and max out other, more 'respected' skills in the spare time I have. Oi! You missed a portion of my former post. Anyway, I know you can train those skills a lot faster than Slayer and get a few more respectable skills up in the process. However, I'm 100% sure, there will come a point in your RS life, where you will actually want to train Slayer. Maybe because its your lowest skill, maybe because of a new quest/minigame, maybe because of a new monster. At that point, you'll have regretted not combining your melee skills with slayer. Of course, it's slower... but it isn't monotonous. Which I feel counts a lot. Grinding/Powertraining may be fun for a short while (for me atleast), only exception is Ice bursting/Chinning as you hardly get a chance to watch xp speed up ;), on other power training methods, I get bored easily. And hey, I don't think playing RS should get you bored. Atleast, thats not the point of a game. Also, as above people (and me) mentioned, at higher levels and with a proper ban list, you'll receive good tasks mostly. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :)

Its quite east to say "Nerf 'em!" right here, but if it is done, we will see one of the worst market crashes ever seen. And you know how it will go. 1k+ rants everyday, posts of players who had been playing for 7-8 years saying they quit because they lost 30m+. The usual drama. Also, I've faced lots and lots of problems from these. PJing seems to be the only thing every person does. Honestly, you always have 2-3 PJers waiting for you whenever you engage in a duel. I think the problem can be solved - a) Dragon Claws should have a set limit. Example, you must have 4 armour parts worth more than 50k each. Atleast some of the 1 iteming and people with poor gear who PJ can be thrown out. B) Even after 3 months, Dragon Claws have seen no big update. I think that was how the special was intended. Anyway, they bring some respect back to the Dragon weapon series, so I guess everyone will be waiting for Dragon Warhammer and Dragon sword/short sword even more eagerly ;) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj

287 I see your reasons Compfreak, and your ideas stating that the average experience is quite low (and probably you also state that other places are better for money, but I don't agree here) Anyway, before I reply to those various issues, the most important thing in Slayer is that you kind of "guarentee" the type of tasks you get. I'll quote my post from another thread. If you throw out those tasks that are rubbish experience-wise, your average usually stays high. Again, due to the unpredictability, your slayer experience every hour changes from its average. Now, firstly, in today's RS world, people go for total levels or total experience. What you see Compfreak, is 110k melee experience. What a Slayer sees is 60k Melee experience + 20k Slayer experience (I know they are 2 different skills and experience goes to 2 different areas. I am just explaining the mindset of an avid slayer) = 90k experience. In his eyes, this 90k experience is anyday better because - a) He has chances of making money (not possible for Zombie monkies) B) He raises 3 skills at a time. Did I forget to mention, in RS, skills are what gets you respect? Secondly, you have got to face it, Slayer is a lot less, a lot less monotonous than any powertraining method. I, will get bored from this very easily. And I know this is the case for a lot of people. Time goes quickly when you train Slayer, as you enjoy the good tasks so much, you never notice the time and you're always eager to finish off your bad task (hardly any, thanks to the list I posted) so that you can get another good one. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :)
  12. They deserve Snare. By the time a mage finishes casting Bind and runs up to the target, the target is free again -.- Even if they do deserve Skillcapes, many skillcapes can only be obtained from member areas. (Firemaking, Attack, Strength, Ranged, Cooking etc.) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  13. You said godswords are better then claws on a slayer task. Whips are cheaper, better, and faster so I mentioned them. So comparing bronze daggers to longswords you say the longs are better so does that mean its better to use them on a slayer task? If the author had said "Dragon Claws vs GodSwords vs Whip", I would have said whip. Tell me, supposing you compare Karil leatherbody with Armadyl chestplate on one of the Tip.It comparison calcs, does a message pop up saying "3rd age is better you nub!"? Stay within context. If they have asked a comparison between Dragon Claws and Godsword, and which is better out of those, there is no reason to bring an Abyssal Whip in between. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  14. You must have misunderstood. Godswords have a high accuracy and are good for Slayer tasks WHEN COMPARED to Dragon Claws. I have no doubt in my mind that a Whip beats a Godsword. However, the topic was about GodSword and Claws. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj Hello Friend, Bronze longswords are better than daggers so I am going to use them because at slayer tasks because iron is not in this debate. This is stupid. The author asks whether Dragon Claws or Godswords are better. You say Whips are better. Sounds foolish? ~Lord Shalaj
  15. You must have misunderstood. Godswords have a high accuracy and are good for Slayer tasks WHEN COMPARED to Dragon Claws. I have no doubt in my mind that a Whip beats a Godsword. However, the topic was about GodSword and Claws. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  16. Having written a detailed VineSweeper guide (link in signature) myself, I think you're going a bit wrong with your methods here. Firstly, you don't need to start off that corner. Any place near the fence is good enough. Secondly, NEVER INSPECT! It is a big waste of time. There are a lot more tactics than that one, and I'll post them if anyone asks but you can find them in my guide anyway. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  17. Dragon Claws are only good for their special attack. For normal damage they are more like Dragon Scimitar Use them at PvP, duels and Boss trips. Godswords have moderate specials (when compared to Dragon Claws) but they have high accuracy when hitting normally and you can use them on Slayer tasks. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  18. I disagree. How many players have, by now, worked out that magic and mellee can be used together? What about those melleers who use black dragonhide to avoid some scary ancient freezing them to death? And what about the use of Ancient Magicks while popping shots off with a rune crossbow? No-one should be restricted in their style of combat, and frankly, a little ingenuity never hurt anyone. Should I be terrified of an ancient and know that I'm going to die, or make the game more fun by pulling out a dds, dragonhide, and seeing who can win? Let's evlove in our style of combat. Can you combine Range and Melee effectively?..or lets say can you combine both of them in such an easy manner as Melee and Magic or Range and Magic? And that is what makes the difference. Don't ever expect Magic to support itself on 1 on 1 combat. Unless of course, hybriding is restricted. Even if you had spells that would hit 50, the cost of runes would be colossal. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  19. Simple. My max with Abyssal Whip on Slayer Tasks is 42. With a GodSword its around 56-57. (Non-spec) We'll take 57. I get 3 Whip hits by the time I get 2 of a GodSword. Assuming all three whip hits were max and all 2 GodSword hits were also max, my total damage with whip will be 42*3 = 126 and my total damage with GodSword will be 57*2 = 114. Thats not all, using a whip allows me to have a shield slot open which can grant me accuracy/defence/prayer bonus. To above poster, SGS spec bar takes 50%. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  20. Fair enough. If you take Kalphites individually, it is debateable whether they are good monsters to kill or not. Mainly based on how much you value time/money/charms. However, in the case of Slayer, you have to think further, you have think that you could have gotten a much better task than this if you had banned these. You mention only Gargoyles and Dark beasts drop blue charms. Now what if you had got those in place of Kalphites? You would have made a hefty profit ALONG with more quantity of charms. In my opinion, from the list I posted on the previous page, there are only 4-5 bad tasks. All the other 20 odd tasks are way better than these 4-5. And Kalphites is in the bad tasks category. Compare them to the other tasks which I have mentioned and you will see. Seeing as you mention cannoning is the best way, as you can keep your spot, the money factor then does count. Seeing nicrune's post which says he kills 45 Kalphites in 10 minutes. So a task of 180 takes 40 minutes? We won't count the loss yet. Now assume you had a Dagannoth task instead, 15 minutes cannoning in Lighthouse, 30 minutes normal in Chaos Tunnels (which yield 150k+ profit along). Assume you had an Aberrant Spectres task, you'll take around 1 hour (I know I take around 1 hour as I use up only 1 Geyser), you'll come out with the equal number of charms and profit, around the same slayer experience but you only take 20 minutes extra. You get the idea, don't you? Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  21. Like I said, if you cancel out the rubbish tasks, (hardly 4-5), then you're average slayer experience will always have a limit of say 25k xp/hour. It can only increase, but the minimum will be the same. I doubt that it is not crowded, but thats not the only reason they are one of the worst tasks. Want to know why? - 1) Very boring 2) Rubbish drops. 3) You make loss all way round. 4) They take time. Basically, all the factors that make a rubbish task. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  22. To be honest, if the D&D event even gives me 4k Farming experience for 5 minutes work, I'm going to do it. And seeing it can be done twice a day, 8k Farming experience per day is very good! :) (Just assuming its 4k, seeing that Crafting was around 3k in Phoenix) Otherwise, good update on randoms, Soul Wars looks interesting, Price Check ok, Quest filter useless for people with Quest Capes (me)... No quest! -.- Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  23. Thanks for the reply. Seeing your answer, I totally left the idea of combat spells, but went researching on something better than stun. In Ancient Magicks, keeping the level 20 teleport limit in Wilderness in mind, Carralanger Teleport teleports you to level 19 Wilderness. (94 xp) Now my question, which you could research, does teleporting in wilderness give you the same x4 experience? I'm guessing that SC armour doesn't work for this. But you get 16 extra experience per use, so does that make a difference? Also, I developed quite a few ideas for Lunar Magicks. I don't have 96 Magic, but as far as I know, Spellbook swap (130 xp) allows you to switch to a spellbook for 1 spell. You could switch to normal for a stun then back to lunar. Repeat? Also, another idea was that you join a PKing clan that makes frequent trips to Wilderness. Help that clan by healing everyone (124 xp), providing energy(100 xp) and vengeance(108 xp)? Come to think of it, you could do this PJ-free routine. Spellbook swap - Ice Barrage friend - Heal other - Vengeance (every 30 seconds) - Repeat. Any ideas? Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  24. With all due respect to the ongoing debates here, I do feel that to estimate the right amount of Slayer experience, you shouldn't include rubbish tasks that can be ignored easily/not accessed. Duradel assigns - * Aberrant Spectres - Nothing bad here. Fast and profit. * Abyssal Demons - Profit :P * Black Demons - This is a very good task in my opinion. I have no idea why people regard it as a bad one. You get superb amount of experience per demon and per task. Also, most of the times the drops pay for the Prayer Potions. You make nice profits if you bother with Prayer flashing. Also, the drop rate of charms is very high. And you can also experiment with your combat familiars which adds a lot of interest. * Black Dragons - Kill Baby Black Dragons. 20 minutes task. * Bloodvelds - Good experience. * Dagannoths - The best task you could ever get (Both CT and Lighthouse) * Dark Beasts - Not a bad task either. (Can't say much) * Dust Devils - Good task too So far, there wasn't even one bad task. If you get any of these in a day, then it has been a good day for slaying. (Note: Personal likes/dislikes don't count here. Just because Black Demons or Dark Beasts look ugly doesn't mean they are rubbish as a task) * Fire giants - Quite good. * Gargoyles - Profitable * Goraks - Kill these with a whip in the dimension accessible through Fairy Rings. Doesn't take more than 30 minutes. * Greater Demons - After combat 127, these are quite easy. * Hellhounds - Good charms, have to fight for spots though. * Iron Dragons - Moderate task. * Kalphites - Ban these. Simple. These are a huge money sink while cannoning, take too much time while fighting normally, you have to compete with other people (which sometimes leads to nasty fights) and they have rubbish drops. Seriously, you have the chances of doing much, much better tasks than kalphites. So far, you had one bad task, which you have banned permenantly. * Mithril Dragons - Short task. * Nechryaels - Good experience, profitable. * Scabarite minions - Another ban. Same reason. Huge money sink (depends on how much you value charms) and you are better off doing other tasks. * Skeletal wyverns - These are optional to ban. If you like them, keep them as a task. * Steel Dragons - Another optional ban. * Spiritual Mages - Profitable. * Suqahs - Fast and easy task. If you stand at the right spot, these keep coming on you, and the hits can be controlled with a bunyip/unicorn easily. * Warped Terrorbirds - Ban. (Can be ignored by not doing Path of Glouphrie) * Waterfiends - Good task. So now you have 3 bans, and another 2 are optional, you can choose one out of the two optional ones depending on how much time you take for each task. That way, your slayer experience will always be maximum everyday except on the days you get one of those optional tasks. You can even solve that problem by not doing some quests like Path of Glouphrie and Dealing with Scabaras. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :)
  25. I have this doubt on Magic Brawlers. I do agree with your idea of stunning a friend, a method by which you wouldn't get interrupted, but seeing how rare Brawling Gloves are, and its even rarer to get one for Magic (which costs a fair amount with any method), wouldn't it be burst to use a normal combat spell to maximise experience? You could even Fire Wave/Ice Blitz Lesser Demons? As far as I know, Magic experience comes in 2 forms. The first is the base experience that you get from every spell. The experience differs per spell. The second is the experience you get from Magic-based combat. With stunning, we only utilise the first form when it is highly possible to get both. The possibilities are endless, you could even kill Ice Warriors, who are also weak to magic. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
