  1. Well, I have started working back on this guide, so thanks everyone for the feedback. My immediate tasks are to make the guide more organised and getting the new map out. (Which I hope to finish by today) I will also get the inventory and equipment section as soon as I finish my current Ice Bursting trip ;). However, I face a big difficulty, which is that the entire guide is centered on "Slaying" them, and I don't seem to get them as a task often. (Curse you Lapalok!) Thanks for the input provided above, and if you guys could, I would like the time taken, cost, profit/loss taken per task with different weapons like a Godsword. I do have the information required for slaying them with a whip, and I'll be adding a Dharoks section as soon as I can get that task again. Lastly, I'm also looking for a familiar section, where I need tons of input on how helpful the lower leveled familiars are. I already have gotten about Smoke Devil, along with a picture, so familiars like Elemental Titans, Hydra, Lava Titan, Swamp Titan should be good. I have experimented these Dagannoths with a Geyser (which owns btw), but didn't record the results. Am also nearing Iron Titan, so watch this space :P Thanks a lot again, Lord Shalaj
  2. I think the entire hype around Elf quests is only because Priffidinas has been around for so long without us having even a small clue what is inside it. I, for one, was ANNOYED by all the Elf quests, Underground Pass and Mourning Ends Part II in particular. The rewards were ok, but the quest overall was just plain annoying. I would like either the Temple Knights (it was an interesting storyline and a bit spooky) or I would simply love more on Mahjarrats. I'm not so sure about the Gnome quests, since they relied heavily on Hazelmere, who is now, unfortunately..dead. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  3. A bit low requirements, isn't it? I expect the Quest to be loads of fun, but can't say much about the rewards (again, assuming on the requirements). And what a wonderful route-finding update. Kudos! :D Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  4. I think being able to repair your Barrows armour at lower costs without bothering to fix them in the player-owned-house would add some life into the skill. Otherwise, there could be a minigame. Anyway, its not exactly dead. It was expected that prices would go down as more and more people reach 99. Not to mention certain bolts and smelting still gets you profit. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  5. It's been mentioned, I just provided the route that would be open to all as some routes open after Bork mini-quest. To the others, glad I could help :) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj Any chance you can update the guide with setup images, alternative gear, etc. Its a really nice place to train/charm collect, but the guide could do with a bit more information. PS. I found that zammy brews are great here (half the prayer points of a prayer pot, but super attack boost and a strength boost) I could indeed, which I was planning to do a few weeks after the release of the guide before I was swarmed with how CT dagannoths are not as good as they look. I'll get back to my previous goal and maybe change the route as it is annoying everyone. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :)
  6. Why on earth are you guys acting like RuneScape starts, ends and is always centered on new content? This is getting annoying. Don't get me wrong, I feel new updates breathe life and excitement into the game, but it's total trash to always rely on them and then whine because your 1 week of waiting got you nothing. I'll repeat what I said in the previous similar thread... there is this WHOLE WIDE WORLD OF GIELNOR to explore. All contents don't disappear after 2 weeks of their release. They are and will exist regardless you get an update this week or not. If you feel that the current existing features don't capture your interest, then I guess you should move to games that you find more interesting. Updates aren't all in RuneScape. And it was never in the routine that you got an update *every* week. So whats wrong if you go without one now? Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  7. Well then it isn't *completely different*, is it? ;) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  8. And it's hard because it makes money. Make it easy to train, and the skill will turn into herblore - costing millions to train. Let me guess, you'd be back ranting about that too if that happened  Awaiting your elaboration on GOP. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  9. Elaborate. I was under the impression that you can buy altar tabs which teleport you to an altar. It looks faster, but balances out if you factor the time spent. And anyway, its the same altar-bank. So explanation needed. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :) Tele, craft, tele, bank... Travel to zammy mage, tele, mine rocks, find rift, craft, tele... Tele with graahk, walk, walk, enter ruins, craft, tele... It is still the altar-bank route..with only a lesser number of steps in between. It is in no way *completely different* nor *slower*. I feel Compfreak is referring to the experience you gain while playing the minigame. You hardly receive 1k experience per game (winning/losing averages it out) so 3k/hour not that good really. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  10. Since people are quite unsure of how these Diaries will really look, I'm sure you would like an insight on a *possible* format for these. Recently, FunOrb site had a major revamp, and it released it's first "Developer Diary", which isn't exactly very long in length and just talks about an upcoming game they are developing. http://www.funorb.com/l=0/kbase/view.ws ... empires_01 They have posted a few new pictures, along with the problems they faced while developing the game also along with the people who were involved with the making. I can't say this for sure, but it sure looks like the RS Development Diaries will also be somewhat similar. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  11. Elaborate. I was under the impression that you can buy altar tabs which teleport you to an altar. It looks faster, but balances out if you factor the time spent. And anyway, its the same altar-bank. So explanation needed. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :)
  12. This is what I don't like. Each method requires you to travel from specific altars to banks. There is no variety outside this field. Like take crafting for example, it has furnace-bank methods like rings/bracelets, (which yield profit at times according to market) or simple on-the-spot activites like cutting gems, crafting armour. And now Slayer has some variety...you can choose to actually play a CastleWars kind of game (Soul Wars) and train your Slayer. Guarenteed it is slower and a less efficient use of your time, but it provides variety, and something different from the basic method. If I'm training Firemaking and alternate between Beacons and normal logs, I won't take it as grinding. It is indeed, but I still wouldn't restrict myself to the altar-bank routine. I expected GOP to bring out a new and not necessarily more efficient way of training RC. Instead, it was the same altar-bank routine, which actually matches the normal way of training Runecrafting if you factor the time spent in the minigame itself. I wouldn't mind a method that equals out to normal Abyss or ZMI training, as long as it is something different from run/tele-craft-run. If a wide variety is provided, the annoying part is easily cut off as you won't feel bored as something your doing is not repetitive. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj :)
  13. It's been mentioned, I just provided the route that would be open to all as some routes open after Bork mini-quest. To the others, glad I could help :) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  14. Which there is, with more and more being added. Regular runecrafting, at any of half a dozen altars. Abyss runecrafting. GOP. Hiring runners. Using assistance. Doing GOP. Doing ZMI. Binding Talismans. Duel ringing fires. Graahking Nats. Ballooning laws. etc. etc. etc. I think you misunderstand me when I saw there aren't choices for training a skill. Each skill (except Runecrafting and some others) has the following methods - a) High Profit/Slow experience. B) Moderate profit or loss, moderate experience. c) High loss/Fast experience. As you can see Runecrafting lacks the third option which I don't feel is right. I'm not proposing rates of 100k+ at all, rather 60k-70k will do, or even lower depending on the attention you need to give to the task. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  15. I kind of agree. No skill should *force* you to grind. There should be numerous choices for training a skill which vary according to money spent or time. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  16. To be honest, Ice blitz + Obsidian ring + Ice barrage + DDS/D claws/Any gs spec is the deadliest combo you'll ever find. Melee overpowered indeed... (And no, it doesn't take a lot of time..infact if timed right, it would probably be 7-8 seconds. Thats enough for (maximum) 30+22+20 above+60 above ---> again, maximum hits. This just goes to show that even if you don't get the best hits, its one of the best combos. All the 3 styles are used which enhances its effectiveness. Gotta be quick though ;)) And by the way, if you're going to use a Dark Bow, get a blitz spell and a DDS special before you use 1 special of the Dark Bow. This confuses the opponent and can easily get you a kill. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  17. But, this is a very lackluster update. The bank tabs and search engine released last year was a true improvement- this is just a piddling little tweak that has a minimalistic impact on the gaming experience. When I heard this was going to be a fix-it/improvement year, I was pleased. But the largest improvement released so far was the Random Removal- something promised early last year. Or maybe even in December 07. The only other that came close was the removal of the censor and I have very mixed feelings about that. And saying that other games don't update nearly as frequently is not a good idea. As anyone who compares Runescape to another game in a negative way can attest, players constantly say Runescape is not other games. If we want to go that route, why not ask why Runescape's combat is so antiquated compared to WoW or AoR? Or why other games have free markets and we don't? And so on and so forth. Although I agree we don't have the need for something big EVERY week, the content updates I've seen recently have been... repugnant to me. The only quest of the year was a tutorial for a new Distraction, and the rest were minigames and more Distractions. True, we're only two months in, but so far I've been very disappointed and have seen no reason to renew membership. And this glorified patch does nothing to change that. There have been a good number of extremely helpful tweaks and fixes this year, and I believe Brianite's main point was that we can't expect a big update every week. Do you really play Runescape for the updates? There's already an overwhelming amount of things to do in this game. Unless you're maxed, played and "beat" every minigame (4k Chompy kills, CW gold armor, etc), have your quest cape, can solo every boss sans CB, and own an Elysian/Divine shield, I see no reason to complain that we didn't get horses this week. But huge chunks of the content don't appeal to me- I have no need to max my stats, and "beat" every minigame. I play Runescape for fun and, if content has no appeal to me, I see little reason to indulge in it. Plus, without any BTS to show future content, I have no idea when or if any future updates will make up for current lackluster updates like this, which are naught but an afterthought to the truly amazing bank re-haul of last year.[/hide] ^ I really don't understand why you feel the need to complain about this weeks update. If you don't like it then don't use it. Let Jagex do what they want with their game. Oh, and ctrl+f "lackluster" in your last three posts pl0x. Why do I feel the need to complain about this update? Because I don't like it. Because I feel it was useless and could have been thrown in with the bank overhaul last year. Oh, and great use of logic. They own the game, let them do what they want. Why complain about anything? Horrid quality control? Don't complain, they own the game, they can do what they want. A renewed War on Bottism? Don't complain, they own the game, they can do what they want. Unfair bannings? Don't complain, they own the game, they can do what they want. That argument can justify anything, although, in comparison to the issue at hand, the examples given are greatly exaggerated. And I like lackluster. It perfectly describes this update. Not really bad, but it has no shine, no excitement. Ergo, it lacks luster. I think we could keep personal likes and dislikes out of evaluating Jagex on the quality of their updates. A person could dislike all their updates and create a bad impression couldn't he? Alright yes, it could have come along with the bank update earlier..but it didn't, probably because they didn't know that it would be a useful feature or rather, they didn't even think of it. You could say each upgrade could have come with this, then the entire point of Upgrade Year is trashed. Afterall, what use are upgrades "if they should have come with the initial update?". I doubt you will see lots of new content when compared to upgrades this year. And you can resign yourself to the fact. And I needn't mention that each and every update wouldn't appeal to each player. Just a few posts above someone mentioned he doesn't use Evil Tree nor Soul Wars so this update is the best for him. Updates for each and every style of playing is the best objective can follow, seeing that it was going a bit too much into combat earlier. Oh, and I'm a bit surprised. Seriously, you guys behave like RuneScape just lives on updates. Isn't there the WHOLE WIDE world of Gielnor to explore? (and I'm not counting the other realms) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  18. Its like saying why do you hate "thieves" :) People who come under the category of noobs are bound to be treated cruelly. However, if you mean that why people are mean to lower levels, then I think its all about the mindset of player which thinks (example) "Ahh, he is wearing Dragon Med, he must be a noob". Anything out of the box of efficiency makes a player look like a "noob" in an efficient player's eyes. This is obviously not the right mindset to follow. A simple "This item is better than the one your wearing :)" would immediately convert that so called noob into one like you. I wouldn't dream of keeping only high levels on my list. Any person who can think clearly and is known by me is welcome :) And then you do have a high population of "immature" players, but its a lot less in P2P. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  19. Think in the positive way. Now most of the Mondays/Tuesdays will have you eagerly waiting for a surprising, new update. Thats 4-5 days in month as compared to one ;) Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  20. Well thats why it would be an achievement ;) It is very much possible, but still rare people have it. However, by all minigames I mean all the robes from Trouble Brewing, all FoG robes along with CastleWars items. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  21. 200m Farming, Summoning and Slayer experience have been accomplished yet? Otherwise, having the rewards of ALL minigames is what I would consider a real "Runescape Everest". Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  22. NO. I doubt you guys have used, seen or been on the receiving end of any of the PvP world weapons. They are massively powerful, and you're not going to survive their special attacks (if the player uses them at the right moment, which he does). Seriously, you don't want these to be repaired or become non-degradeable items unless you want to ruin PvP. I don't see the logic behind restricting them only to PvP worlds, because any smart player will only use them at that world. Of course, the rich people could show it off at Dust Devils or Duel Arena..but thats the biggest waste of money. However, on the case of the armour, it's of no use at the moment, so elongating their time would do no big harm. --- To be honest, getting big drops isn't so easy as you make it sound. I spent more than 5-6 hours in a PvP world (hotspot and non-hotspot areas) and in the end I got just 2 Brawling gloves. On other instances, I didn't get anything worth mentioning..unless Forinthry Bracelet and Rune Dagger are rare items. PvP drops is based on a lot of luck, and for big drops like the weapons or armour, you need to spend some time in PvP worlds accumulating DP. As such if you get Berserker Ring after spending 5 hours in PvP, its hardly 300k/hour that you really made. And it will never be guaranteed that you will receive a good drop even if you spend lots of time. And there are a lot more methods which surpass that. The only problem with PvP worlds at the moment is 1-itemers and PJ'ers..which I hope will get resolved soon. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj
  23. Apart from Cwars, ZGS works beautifully at Saradomin GWD. ;)
  24. It's beside the point whether the child RWT'ed or not. Just because he made mistakes ( and children do make mistakes at such a tender age ) does not in any way dilute the gravity of the situation that he was hacked/tricked/duped out of his account and has lost his monetary Christmas gift. Instead of sympathizing with him , you all are inadvertently subscribing to the hacker's actions with some saying what the hacker did was "good" . Today that child was the target, tomorrow it might be you? Here is a quote which pretty much sums up the situation: Just reflect back on this thread and the posts, and you'd realize that no one has actually condoned the 'hacking' and are infact calling it 'karma' :wall: Thanks, Lord Shalaj
