  1. cat training medal dropped, penguin egg dropped, klank gauntles dropped, ice gauntlets already dropped, book of piracy dropped, greegree's keeped (as you said it is horrible to make them again) jade vine seed dropped. Oh, well, you only need the ninja greegree...after RFD, the rest don't do anything.
  2. The cat training medal is useless and can be reobtained for free from Gertrude in Varrock. The penguin egg can also be reobtained for free from the same guy. Builder outfit, H.A.M., Lunar, and Ghostly robes can be stored in your house. Klank's gauntlets are worthless. Ice gauntlets are used in RFD and Desert Treasure (for fighting Fareed/Flambeed) in addition to Heroes, but otherwise not useful. Broken anchor is free to reobtain, as is the Book of Piracy. Sailor Hat is useless. More than one greegree is redundant, so only keep the ninja one (for the agility course). Don't get rid of the greegrees or the m'speak ammy, because they're a horrid pain to reobtain if you lose them. Jade vine seed can be dropped.
  3. The fastest way is to be a stupid lucky jerk and randomly win a party hat in a drop party. I wouldn't count on that, though.
  4. The borrowed item always returns to you after the time limit, even if the person borrowing it loses it.
  5. No, just rune scimmy. Silverlight is a rune longsword against demons, and scimmy > longsword.
  6. (Woodcutting in p2p is actually much faster because of teaks and eucs, less crowding, and the dragon hatchet.)
  7. It should be easy enough. Just bring plenty of food. An inventory of lobsters (plus the key) is more than enough to take down Melzar, the demon, and the rest of the maze, probably with enough left over for Elvarg too.
  8. What reasons said? You mean that if skillcapes are f2p, then the entire game will follow? Or that skillcapes are already available to f2p as long as they pay the subscription fee? Look, we can talk equipment balance if you like, but even if the stats were left intact, I seriously doubt there would be balance issues. A skillcape only gives +9 defense, which is marginal, and +4 prayer, which is far less relevant without access to p2p's high-level prayers. And at 99k, it would be more expensive than any other piece of f2p combat equipment outside of corrupt dragon. Not a big enough deal to necessitate a stat nerf, right? Even if it was, there's nothing wrong with dropping the stats except a little extra programming time.
  9. This argument that free players shouldn't get content because they can just pay and become a member is, frankly, stupid. Jagex has made it abundantly clear that f2p is NOT a demo for the members' game. They've said it over and over. They explicitly advertise it as a free game, not a free trial. Furthermore, skillcapes are hardly justified as members-only, since they're a cosmetic reward for obtaining an otherwise useless skill level that can be achieved in f2p anyway. I'm sure most people would agree with me that they should have been f2p in the first place. There's absolutely NO reason for it to jeopardize any members' content or make Jagex "give everything to free players as well" like you suggest. That's simply ridiculous. Your justification holds no water. You still fail to provide a valid warrant as to why it would be bad to give skillcapes to f2p.
  10. Now that's not counting the cursed magics, which would make it take even longer, since half your logs don't count towards brawling gloves.
  11. 40k magic logs is normally ~350 hours...
  12. This. Only a n00b would think that f2p "deserves" any updates. But you'd have to be just as n00by to think that f2p is going to overrun or otherwise ruin p2p in any way. Members who accuse free players of being undeserving of any updates are themselves at fault for being spiteful and whiny. It doesn't affect them a whit if some minor feature they never use becomes available in free worlds. Also: You wouldn't believe how many times I've been asked wc lvl? while wearing my woodcutting cape.
  13. Yeah, and if anyone DOES get 99 in f2p, it's obvious they don't plan on paying the $6, so you might as well just let them have the cape in f2p. It's not exactly a big deal. Or they might as well pay the little money it costs, as they had hundreds of hours of fun without paying already. It's not that expensive you know.... :| $6 a month for one month isn't much, no, but long-term membership approaches or exceeds the cost of a retail PC game. 5 months' membership could buy you a whole new game. And membership is much less attractive when it's temporary: you fill your bank up with members' items, spend time training members' skills and unlocking members' content, and then you go back to f2p and none of it matters except to take up your bank space. There's also a psychological appeal to getting a great game without having to pay a cent. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Plus, the argument that f2p shouldn't get upgrades because membership is cheap is, frankly, pretty stupid, because Jagex has made it clear that the free game ought to be enjoyable on its own merits and not as a demo for the members' game. And again, skillcapes aren't a big deal. Why shouldn't they be available in f2p?[/hide] Yet without kill capes f2p still is enjoyable on its own, so why should they? Because it would be a small tweak that would do nothing but improve the game without taking much effort to program? Duh. That is not a reason to do it. Just because it's easy to do, doesn't mean they should, obvously. :wall: The reason to do it is that it would improve the free game. There's your pro right there. Seeing as there are no cons, there's then no reason not to do it. It's the same reason for adding skillcapes in the game in the first place: to add special acknowledgement and meaning to level 99 skills. They should have been f2p to begin with, and it's still not too late to fix it. This is the "upgrade year" after all.

  17. The demonic sigil? Pretty sure you can craft another one from silver.
  18. New members should take advantage of quests to raise farming easily. Say you start at level 1 farming. You can do Fairy Tale Part 1, then Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf, then Garden of Tranquillity, then My Arm's Big Adventure and Enlightened Journey, and right there you're already high enough farming to plant ranarrs and make incredible profits, and you barely needed to touch a spade! (Although to take full advantage of farming ranarrs, you'll need to buy some skills necklaces and complete Ghosts Ahoy and all of the Lumbridge Diary, in order to unlock the fastest teleports to all of the herb patches.) Plus, in the process, you'll unlock My Arm's disease-free herb patch, as well as the magic secateurs to increase your yield by 10%.
  19. Assuming you have a steam staff, you'll fill 27 vials per spell, so yeah, about 100k vials. You should make a profit that way. The fishbowl method is pure loss and pretty expensive, but it is a lot faster. I'm not sure if it's worth doing over string jewelry or ice burst for powertraining, though.
  20. Right, revenants can interrupt your combat with other monsters. This is no different from what other players could do in the days before the Wilderness change at the end of 2007. Besides, the Wilderness isn't exactly chock-full of good skilling spots.
  21. Over 100m including items, but 50-100m in cash.
  22. If a player cares enough about the game to get level 99 in a skill, then they hardly need more convincing to get membership. After all, they're already willing to commit hundreds of hours to the game, so there's a pretty good chance they're willing to commit $6. And if they don't, chances are pretty good they have a valid reason. Right. See, Jagex doesn't acquire new members by withholding all the good content from free players. They get new members by making a damn good free game that people like to play. If the free game is better, then Jagex gets more subscribers, not less...so long as the members' game continue to have lots of exclusive content, of course, which it will, thanks to members-only quests, skills, equipment, and locations.

  24. How could it be a teaser to nonmembers if the change only affected the ones who were ex-members already? I think the ex-members have enough motivation to resubscribe already: The members' items junking up their banks! :P It seems inappropriate to ask "How far will they go?" when they've already answered with "We've gone too far already." On the second article, I think the author failed to recognize that high-level content is typically going to be new content. High-level herblore updates don't necessarily need to be potions, high-level mining updates don't necessarily have to be new rocks, high-level fishing updates don't need to be food-based, and so on. Any skill could introduce new equipment with high-level requirements like they did with firemaking's inferno adze. Any skill could have new minigames with high-level or scalable requirements. And they can always create entirely new things.
  25. But neither of these two "new" moneymaking methods should actually produce money. That's where the inflation is coming in. Money is being produced in pvp where it isn't being lost. Exactly. It's like what people were afraid about with coinshare, only this time the fears are actually being realized. It's not about profit so much as it's about cash.
