  1. But isn't whats right or wrong based on emotions? If you look at morality as a human construct then there is no point in even debating this topic because the very definition of the word provides the answer. Not at all. Does this mean a remorseless killer is immoral just because he doesn't have a negative emotional feeling when he commits an immoral action? In terms of emotions - I think it's blatantly obvious that animals have basic ones. A dog who has been shunned will be sad, a cat in a bath will be angry, etc. But yes, morality is a human construct. I think my post was badly worded - morality being a human construct, emotion being separate.
  2. I only knew the Santa one, fail :( Good luck to everyone involved :)
  3. Well like Markup said it really depends on the language. Most languages have a wide variety of string functions that you could utilize. Are you looking to convert a decimal number to binary?
  4. Animals definitely have emotions - as assassin said morality is a human construct, so no, they don't understand the difference between right and wrong. They do what they do for attention - if being a good pet gets them fed, they'll do that.
  5. This, pretty much, as always. I do agree, it would be neat though.
  6. I don't eat meat on Fridays (originally for religious reasons, now out of habit) and I often do vegetarian meals depending on what I'm feeling like. It's undeniable that vegetarianism has it's advantages - the point wep brought up about world hunger is quite true. The global warming one, well....debate for another time.
  7. This, except I'm a computer programmer. And only 3.5 years.
  8. Vegetarianism is a mixed boat for a few reasons. Personally, I eat a lot of vegetables, they are healthy for you and I like them. I like meat too though so I could never be a vegetarian. It's correct to say the argument of "right to life" is flawed - if a cow has a right to life, why does a plant not? And don't even get me started on how many humans don't have a right to life.. It's more efficient for the planet if we eat vegetables; a one acre field growing plants can feed 10x the people for a year compared to if that field were used to raise livestock. I have come across many self-righteous vegetarians/vegans, but it's really a personal choice, and not everybody is like that.
  9. Grats Solace! Ps. Kim can't tank!

  11. This is a good way to look at it. While there are clans that will (and should) only take more experienced members (like the top 5) there have to be clans willing to give the experience in the first place, or else the clan world cannot survive.
  12. I use ubuntu 10 server edition. I like it, but I'm open to trying something else for sure.
  13. Of course some sites won't take no for an answer, as they need cookies to function. Really, you're in more danger using the internet in the first place then you are just from accepting cookies.
  14. Yeah, when you're dealing with a video game clan forum that affects 100 people. It's different when we're talking about enterprise websites for large corporations that get brought down. I say as Tip.it we should program massive web bombs to use just in case we get attacked. This. I say Tip.it should start DDOSing random IP adresses, tbh. We'll start with "00000000" 00000000 isn't a valid IP address. And random DDOSing? I'm sure that'll be a great idea once they take tip.it down for it.
  15. Quick, let's create the league of internets to prevent further conflict!
  16. I actually don't mind the blue, I think it works well. Try http://colorschemedesigner.com/ for colour ideas.
  17. Not all terrorism is Al Queda. This is internet terrorism - and in my opinion it's the anti-piracy sites fault for perpetrating it in the first place.
  18. No - the anti-piracy sites should be taken to court over their ddosing of TPB.
  19. I don't support ddosing, and that includes by the anti-piracy sites. They should be taken to court over that.
  20. This. I've never really found this day interesting.
