  1. Yeah, to be fair overly flamboyant homosexuals are just one of many demographics I find annoying, and I'm sure I come across as annoying to people as well. In terms of the pride parade itself, I dislike it's overly sexualized nature. If straight people had such a parade I'd be equally against it (I find bikini contests to be ridiculous as well, and anything of that sort). But that's just me. The way we manifest our sexual orientation doesn't need to be extreme. I've met gay guys who are flamboyant, and I've met those who basically just say: "I like guys, that is all". It's not really a matter of which is preferable, I think that's where personality manifests itself. Ties in with your straight guy example as well, obviously not all straight guys are like that. EDIT: @ Laura's point. Unfortunately the majority of homosexuals "seen on tv" and in the media tend to be the flamboyant type (at least from my limited tv experience) I see where he's coming from, since much stereotyping happens without intent to do so, rather never really thinking otherwise.
  2. I'm inclined to agree with Saru on this one - people do have a right to stand up for something they believe in. Society is built around the heterosexual, as society has been largely heterosexual to this point. I don't know what the future holds, but I doubt that homosexuality will ever carry the same weight in society as heterosexuality does. At the same time, I think it's undeniable that the overly flamboyant attitude displayed by some homosexuals is a turn off to many who might otherwise be inclined to revisit their beliefs.
  3. How do you plan on testing it? I assume you haven't purchased IPB :P

Lol Tropic Thunder. If you like comedic war movies, go crazy...otherwise...stay away :P And if you have to chose between pearl harbour or TORA TORA TORA, go for the latter. It's much more realistic and far less glamourized.
  5. The president didn't even introduce the bill - a senator did. AFAIK the president didn't even endorse it. As well, any attempt by the president to "shut off" the internet would be met by instant outrage. The bill is essentially useless, as even if it passed, there seems to be an extremely marginal scenario where the president could use it without being met by domestic and world-wide protesting, etc. To the best of my knowledge, no president in the history of America has ever introduced a bill to the Congress while in office. It doesn't matter if he supports the bill; if its signed into law it makes the executive branch a bit more powerful. Doesn't matter if the current administration never uses it; it'll be there for every idiot in the future. Ah true, my knowledge of the US political system isn't as sharp as it used to be :P. My point however was that regardless of what happened, there really is no way the president could ever ennact that power. And even if he did, it's a temporary fix at best. In the interest of self-preservation shutting down all the servers in the states could protect the states, but as soon as this bill was passed people would start moving their servers elsewhere.
  6. Good case, lots of fans :P Fairly cheap too.
  7. Voted for option one. I've always been a proponent of bonuses for pvp wars and full outs, so I'm glad to see this is now on the table. The one thing that does make me hesitate though is the size of the bonus - I think 30% is reasonable but that number should be open to change in the future. The key here is to provide an incentive to clans who can pvp /full out without seriously hurting the chances of those who don't want to or can't.
  8. The problem with this is that every class can be "good" at high levels if you know what you're doing. Rogues are probably the best class for pvp and do great pve dps so yes, rogues are "good" :P
  9. I'm stating facts. I apologize if it made me sound bitter, but that certainly isn't my feeling or intent. Another question: What would you guys say if I put "proud to be Catholic" in my sig? I'm not really Catholic so I wouldn't do it, but I'm just wondering. The problem with the reasoning presented by wep and romy isn't flawed logic - I agree white people are very rarely repressed and certainly have been far better off. But what is equality? It shouldn't matter the when, the why, or the how of what people want to be proud of. In an equal society, we should all have the same rights. Shafting people of certain rights (however you feel it may be deserved) can never lead to to equality.
  10. To be honest, I don't care if you have it in your sig. If there's something about yourself you're proud of, by all means, be proud of it. But yes, the general attitude held by the media and those preaching "political correctness" tend to shaft people just as much as they help people. I've already used the "proud to be straight" example, and the "Caucasian club" example, I'll throw out another one. Ever hear of masculinists? I doubt it. Technically, masculinists could argue for more rights for men, just as women do, yet they'd be called bigoted and old fashioned. Religious communities hold legislative power in the men and women who represent the majority. Indeed, but here at least MP's tend to vote regardless of religious beliefs - many people claiming to be religious (where their religion is against same sex marriage) voted in favour of legalization. Obviously this isn't the case everywhere though.

If all three of your accounts have been compromised and you don't have similar passwords, he's probably keylogged you. Post a hijackthis log please. http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
  12. Unless you're into raiding you can perfectly play the game in a casual way. I agree. Raiding is the core problem this game causes to social life. Of course, some people think WoW is nothing without raiding. Well, to be fair, if you're not into professions or pvp, there's not much else to do. :P

Having your IP means nothing. If he hacked you, he knows your password. This either means he found your password somewhere, you told him, or he installed a keylogger. Having your IP address is about as harmful as having your phone number.
  14. They've already lost that power. Separation of Church and State is the new norm. If the Catholic Church really had power over laws(in Canada at least) abortion would be illegal, gay marriage would be illegal, contraception would be illegal, divorces would be illegal, and more. Imagine if they had no power.... We'd be 1,000 years in the future, and gays would be treated the same. I'm not sure where you're going with this. I've already proven to you that in developed countries the church has no power over law. No, this isn't the case in every single country, but more and more it is the norm. Sorry I wasn't clear, the church still has some power, even if it's small. One thing you have to remember is the church influences decisions of votes and bill approval/denial by telling people what is and isn't acceptable. Well, obviously, so I do see that. However, for example, when the bill legalizing homosexual marriage was passed in Canada some polls suggested up to 55% of people were against it - and Canada isn't overly Catholic compared to some countries.

  17. Ok, and what If I feel that my self esteem has been lowered by the prevalence of gay people? (obviously this is ridiculous, but it's just an example). Are you saying I don't have the right to be proud of an attribute I have? An ethnic club celebrates their ethnicity. It may have other motives, but the base celebration is there. Do white people not have that right? In fact, in Canada, it's widely expected that within 50 years, white people will be a minority. And in the world as a whole, white people are a minority.
  18. "Where you live" doesnt change the fact that there is still a negative social stigma towards gays in a majority of the world. And again, you can't just look at the words and take the meaning from it. "Proud to be ___" doesn't just mean what the dictionary definition of those words are, thrown together. "Proud to be _____" is a way of people saying that they have a minority lifestyle (which is usually descriminated against) and they aren't letting idiots ruin their self esteem. If you want, I am sure saru would change his sig to "I am a gay person, and despite the adversity I face, I feel great about myself" but it is just much easier to take the format that has been used for years ("proud to be black, gay, deaf, paralyzed, etc"). Ok, I can accept that a large percentage of people don't accept homosexuality - but it doesn't give them extra rights. I have every right to put "proud to be straight" in my sig, just as he has a right to put "proud to be gay". Yet It's looked down upon - just like the person who started a "Caucasian club" was called racist, even though there are black clubs, asian clubs, brown clubs. Equality means equality - nothing more, nothing less.
  19. This is completely ridiculous. People could have said the same thing about descrimination against blacks... It wouldn't be like that at all. Maybe if gays were seen as equal to straights, it would be the same thing. Saying you are proud to be gay is letting the world know that it is time for a change; that being gay doesnt make his life any worse than yours. If I put "proud to be straight" in my sig, I'd be called a bigot, yet I'm saying the same thing - because where I live, legally homosexuals are equal to heterosexuals.
  20. This is garbage, as society becomes more and more secular the controls religion have over lawmakers become practically nonexistent.

Well, I don't mean to be rude but it's pretty clear you have no idea how hacking works. There are two ways someone can get your runescape password: A) If you tell them. B) If they install a program called a key-logger on your computer. A key-logger will record all the keys you press in a text file and send it to whoever he chooses. Changing your IP address won't help you at all. If you don't have a firewall, get one. If you don't have antivirus, get one. After that, scan the whole computer and do anything it tells you to.
  22. Grats PKM, glad to see you're out and about once more :)

Yeah it is kind of old :P Second that though, one of pixar's best for sure.
  24. Yep, nobody. That's me. I'm not one of these "Next year..." guys, though. I'm more of an "Eventually..." person. Yeah, I'm a realist  I don't know if I would get one with MY name on it, but if you think you'd wear it, why not? But my favorite recent Leaf (Kaberle) is, as of right now, still a Leaf (might change by next season, though). Yeah, I doubt they'll hang on to Kaberle. It's a pity, because he's a damn good defenceman but I think they want someone younger to fit with the rest of the team. Plus Kaberle is expensive. Not really. He only makes like 4.25 million. Other D with his abilities make more. But I do agree that, unfortunately, he will probably be leaving. He supposedly doesn't get along very well with Wilson, and Burke said he will deal Kaberle before firing Wilson. Still, 4.25 is a lot. He hasn't played well since Wilson's been there, just watching him it looks like he isn't making an effort. Ahh well, we shall see.
  25. Sorry to hear that, RIP :(
