  1. I think something that even supersedes all this is the ridiculousness of the proposal, as it's something that is literally impossible to enforce to any effective degree. No mention of McCain being on board though.
  2. RIP, always sad to see another clan go :(
  3. It's just a standard Ethernet cable, not sure if that's what you're saying. Yes that's what I was saying. You have the standard Ethernet cable that you usually use between a router/switch and a computer. When you want to plug 2 routers using Ethernet, you should use what is called a crossover cable, the difference between standard and crossover is the order of the wires at each end. usually you get a crossover with your router though. As far as I know, not many routers can work when they are connected to another router without a crossover. Mine does, but my router is recent. Both my routers are relatively new. Is there any way I can easily tell the difference between a normal ethernet and a crossover?

Schinder's List is a must-see. In terms of older movies, I'd say watch "the longest day" and "the great escape". EDIT: Ahh yes, and TORA TORA TORA. Couldn't remember the name of it.
  5. In general every other day is better, but if you're sure to be working different muscles every day and you're really careful about what you eat ( a lot of protein especially) you can get away with it. I'd stick to every other day though.

  7. Ok, I might try that. Or I'll just use the wireless router and tell my parent's it's unavoidable. If anyone else has any input that's welcome as well.
  8. The modem only has one port, so I suppose buying a splitter is my only option there. I realize that having several routers in a line can muddle things - would I perhaps have been better off to replace the wired router with a hub or switch?
  9. I could, but due to my parents idiotic ideas they want to be able to turn off the wireless router whenever they feel like it <_<
  10. Over the past few months I've had issues with my home wireless network. The problem is that my wireless computers (of which there are three) will either not be able to join the network, or they will join but then the internet will cut out from time to time. I've been on the phone with dlink repeatedly (their customer service is horrendous by the way) and eventually they told me that my microwave is interrupting the signal and I need a better router. I'm not inclined to beleive them because this problem never used to happen, it only started becoming a problem when I purchased another router. My network currently looks like this (forgive the bad diagram) MODEM | WIRED ROUTER - > SERVER | WIRELESS ROUTER - > Desktop computer Three computers connect wirelessly to the wireless router as well, two laptops and a desktop. I've played around with both routers, enabling dhcp on one, disabling it on the other, vice versa, adjusting the signal on the wireless router, yet this annoying problem persists. When my internet cuts out, it's sticks on "resolving host" which I find interesting because most of the time msn, skype, games, ftp will be working (or at least somewhat) whereas browsing ceases completely. I guess I'm asking two things: 1) Any idea what is wrong, and how to fix it? 2) If I really need a new wireless router, what should I buy? (preferably nothing dlink, this whole experience has left me adverse to continuing to purchase their products) Anyway, networking isn't really my thing, so if anyone has any ideas, I'll be very grateful. EDIT: And it definitely isn't a case of the server hogging bandwidth, seeing as it's for testing only and currently turned off.
  11. It's so funny how my facebook frontpage was bombarded with "Bob Gainey fails" and "Bye Halak" only 30 minutes after the news was announced. Seriously, hundreds of my friends updated their status just for him  And yea, that jersey is nice looking. But it's the leafs and nobody likes the leafs  Leafs do have one of the best jerseys in the league, I like the new ones. Trading Halak was gutsy but not necessarily bad imo.
  12. You give no credit to psychologists by saying this. The test is designed to evaluate his brain's system of processing. Its not like they have a big list of right/wrong answers and 80% means man, 90% means woman. Psychological evaluation is more complicated than that. Its like you hearing of something that a particle physicist is working on and being like "Well what if the wind came and blew the electrons around?!?!?!" Just an unwarranted jab at the legitimacy of the study. Also even if it varied as simply as you are suggesting, why would that matter? "Men" would still be expected to do better than "women" on the spacial evaluation, regardless of their level of education. All they are concerned about is how his aptitude in certain areas compares to his aptitude in other areas. So how does education play a role in this? A test like a synonym test is directly related to knowledge of vocabulary, hence education. And what was the rest of the test? Mind reading? Psychic ability? Ability to run long distances? All of the criteria were intellectual evaluation and his absolute score would probably have something to do with education. It isnt about how high he scored on language aptitude, its about how high that score was in relation to other things. So how does education have anything to do with how good he is at one subject in relation to another? All I'm saying is that in any test there are extenuating factors. Do you honestly think that every woman has exactly the same spatial capabilities regardless of experience and education? I'm not saying the test was inherently flawed - I'm saying there's room for error, as there is in everything.

  14. I don't see how this could work. Even if the bill were passed he'd only have control over servers and ISP's in the states. Dumb idea though.
  15. Indeed, but at that point you've made a choice. If you're only "slightly" attracted to the same sex you may biologically qualify as a bisexual but you may decide to live life as a heterosexual, or vice versa. I disagree. But whatever, let's not argue over this- What about gays? No bi-sexuals, gays. Those that can't choose. Should they simply ignore it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVwjCppq82c&feature=player_embedded I'd be curious to see the results of that test performed on a larger scale - I can tell right away that at least one of the test (the synonym one) would be heavily affected by education.
  16. Well, the teaching of the catholic church (which is the one I've adhered to in this particular instance) says those things are wrong as well. However, I won't be as arrogant as to say I've never done those. So its okay for you to be a hypocrite and to adhere only to the guidelines that are convenient for you, but it isnt okay for someone else to bend the rules and just live a happy life instead of a repressed one? Let's just say I'm working on those things ;) I'm also not forcing this on anyone, as I've made clear multiple times through multiple topics. This is just my opinion.
  17. His other thread gave the appearance that the HD might have been the problem, and if he hasn't replaced it he's still reformatting the same bad drive. But yeah, check the other things first.

  19. Pedophilia is more of a fetish, that is true. But particularly in cases of statutory rape, consent is there, and realistically no different from consent given from an adult. There is an age, obviously, where a child is incapable of giving consent - but when a child can give consent I see that as a legal opening. I'm not arguing for anything, in particular. Although obviously these are very small facets of the population, there are people who want these things legalized. I want to know why we shouldn't do it. I further find it interesting the number of people who have just "blown off" the zoophilia and objectum issues - saying "that's so ridiculous it will never happen". This has been an attitude for many things in the past, and yet they've changed.
  20. Indeed, but at that point you've made a choice. If you're only "slightly" attracted to the same sex you may biologically qualify as a bisexual but you may decide to live life as a heterosexual, or vice versa. I don't think they are less likely to be gay, I've just never seen one. I'm fully aware that this theory is terrible, there's no actual study to back it up. It was just an interesting thought that occurred to me. Yes, that's true, there are some cases of homosexual animals. However, (and I haven't looked into this) I'm willing to bet that the percentage of homosexual animals is significantly smaller than the percentage of homosexual humans. I think the overall point I'm trying to make there is that homosexual attraction, for the most part, is built from nurture rather than nature. Of course there will be exceptions, there always are. But looking at the large majority it seems to be the case. Another thing - right now I believe the statistic was that about 10% of the human population is gay? I'll use that as an example, even if it isn't smack on. Personally, I'd think that given the unaccpetance of homosexuals in many parts of the world a large number of homosexuals are still "in the closet" so that number could be as large as 20% ( just a figure off the top of my head). There may be instances of homosexual behavior in other species, but I've never heard of a species that even comes close to a percentile that high. Seeing as animals don't follow the same social norms as humans as well, it would be pretty hard to argue that there are animals "in the closet" as well which would affect the percentile. That was a quick summary of my overall feelings, which are long and complicated but it appears once again I'll have to explain them. It's possible to commit any act - we have the freedom to do so. However, in order to be moral the act must have validity - a valid purpose. The most basic and natural purpose of sex is reproduction - this I believe to be irrefutable. There are side effects, such as stress relief, bonding, fun, etc, but they are additions to the effect, not the immediate effect itself. Thus, when the act is committed without allowing its basic and natural purpose to occur, it is rendered invalid. I'll use an analogy I've used before: donating money to charity. The purpose of donating money(or other goods) to charity is to make a sacrifice on your part for the betterment of others. This is the most basic purpose of the act. Therefore, If I donate my $1000 vacation fund to charity I am doing a good thing, as the basic purpose of charity is fulfilled. If I rob a bank of $100000, and then donate to charity - I'm still helping a lot of people. However, since I am no longer donating myself, the basic purpose of the act is unfulfilled and the donation is invalid.
  21. Too pricey. Besides, I'd never get away with taking the plate off. Regular HD's are the same price pretty much. But yeah, reseating the ram sounds good. To reseat the ram, take it out, and put it back in again :P
  22. Right you are, I've removed it.
  23. Why did you buy an external? You might as well have just purchased a new HD :/
  24. Speak for yourself. This is utter crap. Not all men are incapable of love.
