  1. It's a sensitive issue. That's exactly why you see bumper stickers that say "Everything I need to know about Allah, I learned on 9/11."
  2. Lots of experimentation, and a lot of the rich getting richer. If a Republican says it's true, be skeptical.
  3. Correction. The world would be infinitely better off without intolerance. Or with more empathy. Agreed. The world however, would be far better off without religion. It would be damn near perfect without intolerance.
  4. What the fetus resembles has nothing to do with anything in the discussion. (If a lump of semen affect anything? No, but it's still a "clump of cells" with the potential to be a person - a very similar paradigm in early-stage abortion.)
  5. It wasn't hateful speech. They were not supporting genocide. Therefor, they have the right to say it. Whether or not I agree with what they said is a moot point.
  6. Exactly. No woman wants an abortion: she doesn't want to make that choice. She's forced into it (yes, she may have made poor, even horrible decisions in the past, but she's still being forced into it.
  7. I know we've been discussing about this before but saturated fat has got a bad name for no reason at all. except for as good as all research on the subject, i guess there is no reason. If you choose to deny science, few things have reason. If you choose to apply scientific principles only in some cases, they're not science at all. if all nutritional information is wrong, why would our governments all over the world still have the same advice? the lobbies in one country aren't the same as another. the money to be made in one country (if you believe the conspiracies) isn't the same as another. sorry, you're argument makes little rational sense. it makes no scientific sense, it makes no statistical sense (in terms of survivability and heart disease). you cannot deny science This is what Michael Pollan discussed in Easters Manifesto: it's the blind, unquestioning dedication to anything you're told. You consider authority absolute, scientists gods, and the doctors that manipulate their work un-erring dem-gods: to question is dangerous, to be paranoid is naive, and trusting necessary. How well do you think it would go over in these institutions, governmental or otherwise, to say that the sermons that they've delivered, the demands for blind obedience, were all wrong? That the very foundations of their work was a mistake, propagated by circular reasoning and fallacies that a 10 year-old could see through? Really, they have no choice, and bad science is experimentation influenced by emotion - what they've created is a monster of propaganda, corruption, and confusing and conflicting information. Saturated fat is not bad for your. Industrial seed oils, are. Olive oil isn't as bad for you, but butter is better. Ghee is about the same, although it's hard to find products to the same level of purity. http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2010/03/leave-your-brain-at-door.html
  8. You do know this thread is called "Hot celebrities/models!! :) Post them here!!" and not "Hot female celebrities/models!! :) Post them here!!"... right? I know, but it's still a safe bet to say that there is far more demand for pictures of chicks on here than guys.
  9. Lol, I can't believe that we're doing this again.... Communism will not work on a large scale. It does not go along with human nature, which is to want more and to do better.
  10. ^ Seriously interrupted my enjoyment of this thread. ....hot chick from Iron man other hot chick hot chick with pink hair..... .....DUDE.

Apparently my Mom's decided I should not be using the Internet. So she's going to try to kick me off for about a week... not really sure how this is going to work out though, since I need my laptop for schoolwork, and I doubt that she's going to go to the effort of blocking my MAC from the router, although she might talk my Dad into doing it.... Awww man, a week without TIF :ohnoes:
  12. Thanks dude. That's exactly how I eat: I ate chicken fried in pork fat last night, a side of well-buttered broccoli, and ghee-fried eggs this morning: that's enough saturated fat to make a nutritionist cry, bread (even whole grain) at most one slice a week, no drinks other than small amounts of milk, large amounts of cream and water, and yet I feel better when I do it. I can't really speak from the perspective of weight loss, since I've never been overweight, but I'm quite sure that this would help as well.

  14. That's stupid. More poor, in the long-term, are an issue. Refugees, death, sickness and starvation are everyone's problem. If you are that selfish, then get the hell off of our planet. 0.02% of the GNI. We spend many times that on buying over-priced over-marketed food for our pets. I donate to causes that I agree with. Before the earthquake in Haiti, I donated money to my church's mission for a sister parish in Duval, Haiti. I don't want the government making those decisions for me. How is that selfish? When government "donates", things like this happen: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/04/08/haiti-ruins-relief-workers-live-large-love-boat/ First off all, a donation to a religious organization should not be considered a donation. I'm interested in the article but would appreciate it if you could provide an alternate source. I don't participate in the delusion that FOX is anything but the communications arm of the Republican party.

Another essay. It's not that I mind them: I love choosing topics and then researching and building the paper. I just hate it when it's a literary essay, and I know that tens of thousands of other students are churning out the same useless garbage.
  16. No, it is Ancel Keys' work that I am criticizing. Yes, some of those studies are older. Sorry, I didn't know that scientific inquiry had an expiry date.
  17. I've never heard of this. Do you have a source, or is it just a guess? My money's on it just being an outmoded measure that they haven't bothered to remove yet.

DIE SHELDON DIE  He mentioned Ubuntu right at the end of the episode. <3: Haha that was so funny.. loved their hair. Yea, that made me laugh all on it's own. I'd always wondered what had out that elevator out of order.
  19. Ubuntu was mentioned on The Big Bang Theory last night. http://flamesandfallacy.blogspot.com/2010/05/big-bang-theoyr-ubuntu.html BTW, I just wondered: do you pronounce the name properly (it's actually oo-buntu) or like everyone I know does: (you-buntu). People look at me strangely and argue with me if I say it properly... WTF.
  20. Yup. It always seamlessly integrated lyrics, found the cover art automatically, and it's a great syncing tool: simple, but does exactly everything I want it to, unlike iTunes, which will try to steal my credit card and rape my hard-drive if I tried to actually use it.
  21. Yea, I've seen someone hook up a bunch of PS3's to render the images and do the calculations blazingly fast. That was truly epic to witness.
  22. Borrowed a friends band amps, and am playing Holy Diver at max volume, pointed straight out the windows. RIP Dio.
