  1. Okay, my tribe is going to be the Aresian tribe, and I'm going to work on my unit roster now. My homeland will be very North-Eastern egypt.
  2. Thing is, nowadays we have strict medical advice to make sure we stay on an antibiotic course. In those times, they would start feeling better and stop using them, allowing the bacteria to become immune. Anyways, whats all this about claiming cultures? Just make your own. I also think we should stick to one continent so people aren't seperated from the rest of the game. As for the research problem, thing is, we're so limited on the possible things we can research, that it would end up being whoever starts their research first basically wins. If you can think of a solution to that, I'd be very grateful.
  3. Oh for gods sake. How many bloody times do I have to say it: WE HAVE ALREADY DECIDED WE ARE NOT INCLUDING MAGIC. On other matters, I have produced 5 copies of the Ares prototype, since I wont be able to finish researching the full design, its about 1/3 of the power it should be..

[bleep] yes, wild rice is so much better.
  5. I really think it would be easier if we took the cultures we already have, and put them into a new world, where there is less space, meaning that we have to contest it. Seeing as we can make our own cultures, I'd rather not be egyptian. I think I'll be some kind of Neo-Ancient Greek tribe.
  6. How, I ask you, would it fail. Nobody would be able to create the types of magic, it would just be another weapon like a bow, sword or axe. And it wouldn't be that powerful, either. Besides, we've already agreed not to include magic, so we can all be quiet about it now. The first test battle is actually going quite well.
  7. We'll be mostly disregarding that sort of thing.
  8. Ah yeah, I am getting slightly ahead of myself <_< Meh, its not bad to be prepared.
  9. On the contrary Rocco, I do wish to see a dozen different unit types, including seige weaponry, archers, knights, cavalry all doing different things to win the battle. I'm alright with tommorow.
  10. Don't bother with mapping. We'll find an easier way somehow. I still think typing it will be fine. I think this version is easy enough to use without too much hassle. Without some kind of visual aid, its rather hard to keep track of though.
  11. I don't think history will be affecting it too much, you just consider yourself independant. 100k people is too many I think, it should be 20,000, max, with little increase. (I just realised that I don't get to use my pretty fire emblem grid squares for the map <_< )
  12. Neither, we're claiming a culture. You'll have a small amount of land while most of the land on Earth remains neutral. Kind of like a barony. Remember, there weren't 6 billion people on the earth back then, I assume it was in the millions, if that, but I think we're playing with like 20,000 people each or something.
  13. Alright, the stage is set, the era is decided, now I just need to fix all this mapping trouble. Its impossible to fix completely, so I'm making it as easy as possible, with single colour blocks which show terrain. Then I guess I'll write up some more rules for the old kingdom thread.
  14. I'd prefer somewhere around 450 AD too.

Seconded, but I sometimes add sundried tomatoes.
  16. Thats what my warfare system is trying to incorperate. It will mainly be a battle of strategy. Think really complex chess, with a few twists. Also, you must consider equipment strength too.
  17. I don't really want to advance past late medieval times, or it could turn into another version of this, and I don't really want that to happen.
  18. I'll take egyptians. Still working on that warfare system, editing all magic references out atm.
  19. Yes, what I was thinking of was a combat triangle and some sub combat triangles. So, Magic > Melee > ranged > magic Swords > axes > lances > flails etc Bows > crossbows > throwing weapons etc Fire > Thunder > Wind > Ice etc. Combine this with that battlegrid system, and you have a war system that will work rather well, if I do say so myself. Maybe each unit would consist of 50 people, equalling 50 "HP", then, after they engage in warfare with an enemy, they have some "HP" taken away, and a number is left next to their name equalling how much "HP" they have remaining. Also, think like this: Melee - close ranged, magic - Medium ranged, range - Long ranged And also, NO MAKING UP SPELLS, THE MAGIC UNITS HAVE SET VALUES.
  20. The tech on this thread is often unbalanced. Magic will be abused, unless we use the system that I said. We tried to balance the tech here, it didn't work. People can just come up with things that wtfpwn everything and say they spend a long time researching it. Speaking of overpowered tech, my Ares prototypes are going to be used in the upcoming war. They are about 1/3 of the power of what the real thing was going to be.
  21. Technology is the problem with this thread. If we don't have magic, it wont be just an arms race, it will require true tactics to be successful at if we use the war system that I suggested Edit: WAIT. What if we just rip the magic system off of fire emblem. There are a few kinds of mages that you can use, and some kinds are stronger against other kinds, meaning you need to choose which kinds you need to take with you into battle. EG. FIre mage > Thunder mage > Wind mage > Fire mage That way, we can't just develop magic missiles or Earthquakes, black holes that absorb armies because we "Set our mages to empower new spells"
  22. Yeah, godmodding would be a major issue. We can just play a medieval version of this game, but making sure that people take care of their micromanagement. And it also means no more BS tech and such. For a war system, I was thinking we have a map of the area that the battle is going to take place in, we define each terrain to give a value, and give each kind of troop a set of values, then take turns to move them, with a maximum number of moves per turn. Almost like a more complex game of chess, per se. (If anybody has played fire emblem/advance wars, you'll understand what I mean)
  23. Not to where we are now. I was thinking of something kind of cliche. The dawn of the end of all things, for instance.
  24. I think 1:10 years would work.
  25. The war that ends this thread needs an epic name. Ideas - GO!
