Yup, the new metal that I added in works fine. The ore appears in gold veins as small clusters, and it needs to be smelted with *spoiler* and silver to create a weaker, but much heavier version of *spoiler*. And thus, blunt weapons are no longer broken.

Stop being a condescending jackass. You aren't entitled to an opinion if you use that entitlement to stop people doing what they enjoy.

They're pretty brutal. But I must persevere. Also, I think my worldgen is screwed a little. I just started a map, and immedietly I got "A section of the cavern has collapsed", and my fps dropped to like 2. I think the magma sea is draining into hell... Sidenote: I edited in some new weapons, armours and workshops. As well as a new metal. I'm not trying to overpower it, so it's pretty balanced, given that the ore is fairly rare.

You say that, but then you'll end up at 6:00 AM thinking "I could have sworn it was still noon." I know I did.

The only way to hit HFS is actively seeking it. I wont spoil it, but you wont hit the circus unless you dig too deep and greedily. I have big plans for my new fort. It's going to be a military fort, so the number of haulers is going to be reduced, and I'm going to train them all to swim and declare war on the ocean.

Retech, just dig down, dig deep, and dig greedily. Magma sea is usually on a z level between 20 and -35. You'll usually find adamantine when you get there, as well.

I'll write an explanation tommorow, it's kind of late and I'm sleepy right now. And yeah, I know the lever was in a bad place, but I figured the chances of an amphibious unkillable monster were low enough that it wouldn't matter. I erred.
-
Dwarf fortress
I did, but due to an engineering "flaw" it failed to activate. The lever was right outside the room with the beast, meaning any time a dwarf tried to pull it, they would get maimed near instantly. Amphibious monsters, I can handle. Unkillable monsters, I can handle. But Unkillable, amphibious, absurdly powerful monsters, and its all just too much fun. Aside from that, I'm going to try my hand at modding. I already created a new metal, some weapons and armour, and a workshop. Time to build me a new race. I'm thinking golems. Golems with molten gold blood.

That was interesting. An unkillable, amphibious megabeast decided my fort looked delicious. It came in through the pond system, and promptly proceeded to annihilate two fully equipped, fairly well trained squads in adamantine armour, before massacering most of my civilians. Goddamnit. Unkillable megabeasts are too much fun. I was getting preparations ready to declare war on hell, too. Guess that will have to wait till my next save, where hopefully I wont screw everything up and make my military into a tantruming mess which takes two years and a lot of adamantine to fix.

You can make ammo too? Congratulations, Urist McBonecrafter, you've been promoted. Hope you have fun in the hauling department. EDIT: I'm not seeing any option to make bolts from glass. Are you sure it should be here?
-
Dwarf fortress
I love glassmaking ever since I realised that sand and magma means an infinite supply of cages.

I use a grid for my food workshops and stuff. 3x3 boxes with a single tile passage connecting them to the main corridor, relevant stockpiles, and other relevent workshops (Butcher-Tanner-Leatherowrker for instance) But making forges on this scale in that pattern is a logistical nightmare. What does your forge area look like?

Dwarf fortress
[hide][/hide] Uberforge. Not exactly well designed, but it gets the job done. [hide][/hide] Theres the entrance. I'm not exactly an aesthetic architect, as you can see probably tell. I always embark on a volcano, obviously, so metalworking industry is easy to set up. Those stockpiles have a good 100 diamonds in them, 100 adamantine wafers or so, and assorted other bars. The entrance is designed so that the military can react immedietly to any theif that gets inside or a seige in the event that I cannot close the bridge in time. ORIGINAL DESIGN DO NOT STEAL. Nah, just kidding.

But they wont get past the traps. And if they do, I'll just have the lower guards take care of them.
-
Dwarf fortress
That's what the adamantine traps are for. I'd love to see ANYTHING survive 300+ adamantine serrated disk hits. Kobolds don't present a concern, because the second they get revealed, there is no hope of getting out. My barracks is situated alongside the entrance corridor with fortifications along the whole thing.
-
Dwarf fortress
There is a 20x4 corridor of cage traps, followed by a 10x4 corridor of adamantine serrated disk traps. On that note, did you know that serrated disks hit 3 times each when used in a trap? So 10 adamantine serrated disks is 30 hits, and that's enough to kill pretty much anything. Also, giants take freaking years to haul. Literally, one of my dwarves took two months to haul the cage down to the arena. 16,000 pounds(?) of weight.

I installed a lava waterfall in my grand hall, surrounded by adamantine statues of the past fallen champions (Had to use over 100 wafers to get the full set of all 12...) Still, with the amount of adamantine statues plastered over the fort, all my dwarves are incredibly happy, at least. Not ready to declare war on hell yet, still arming and training the military. My danger room needs expanding, and I need more seiges so I can capture more targets.

All time greatest Videogame Villain.
Pity SHODAN is out. GlaDOS is cool, but not as good as SHODAN.

The Back Room
I've heard it's supposed to be really good, haven't played it though.

Zombie Plans-Revised
I'm in agreeance with Earth. Apply magma, solve problem. No but seriously, zombie virus can spread quickly because people don't know the person will reanimate, meaning that they could hang around the body and get infected.

What part of Gurren Lagann are you up to Icu? You'll find out why people hate him about halfway through.

Dwarf fortress
It was a dragon though. How could anybody be displeased by a dragon being sacrificed to them. I embarked in the perfect location, volcano, brook, heavy foresting, and over 10k units of *SPOILER*... Then all my dwarves got killed by unicorns. What the hell. Reclaiming it with 2 guards this time.

Dwarf fortress
Huh. Pity. Can't see any reason why it would have crashed.
