  1. Yeah, I just got up to my tier 5 urgent on MH to hunt the alatreon, and it is genuinely difficult. From somebody who didn't really have any trouble with Barroth or Diablos, Alatreon is bloody strong, fast, and has some really annoying attacks. His arial tailspin is utterly unpredictable, and by the time you realise what hit you, you'll be down 3/4 of your health bar and on the floor.

Yeah, that was it. Thanks. I'm trying to take a more proactive approach to corpses this time (AKA, not leave them outside forever to rot) and I was slightly confused at that. On another note, just dug into an underground cavern within 4 dorfmonths of starting. LET THE MUSHROOM TREES RISE.

So I just killed a large group of Rhesus Macaques, but my dwarves are refusing to haul them to the refuse stockpile so that they can be butchered... None of them are rotten, and I can see no reason they aren't being hauled. Furthermore, the butcher refuses to acknowledge their existance, and says there is nothing capable of being butchered. Is this a bug?

Install a grate, Pie. Liquids go through it, but items and bodies do not.

Megaconstructions are always fun. Goddamned ambushes are the most annoying thing ever to happen. I chain wardogs next to my entrance to detect them without fail now, because if I'd caught them before in my old fortress, it would still be standing.
  6. Let me explain this in simple terms. [hide][/hide] The only way you're going to beat Barroth is with practise. PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE. Learn where to stand, when to dodge, when to charge, when you have an opening, etc.
  7. Ares takes one of the smaller slabs, cuts it into about the width and length of a card, then cuts it into card shaped flakes of rock.
  8. Barroth is the first real roadblock in the game, to be honest. the best advice I can give is practise. Learn it's patterns, learn when you get an opening, try not to stay in front of it, and watch out for that tail.
  9. Ares wakes up, takes a card, and starts cutting the slab into small bricks to free himself.
  10. Ares picks a random wall, one which he thinks will lead outside, then gets out of the way and starts throwing cards in a door shaped pattern at it. If a hole is created, he runs through it, and repeats this with every wall he comes to until he gets outside. Inb4 ceiling collapses on me.
  11. Ares looks around for office supplies. Pens, string, a working PDA if he can find one, and any miscellenious items which might be out of place. Given that this is after some kind of apocalypse, I assume there is SOMETHING useful here, at the least. No point in not checking.

And so, the fortress has fallen. An ambush, which put a lot of my recruits in the hospital, and then a seige, which finished me off. Solon Storlutoslan, the last remaining dwarf, fought off over 20 goblins with that artifact axe, before going berserk, finishing off the other 4 dwarves, and then dying of blood loss. He had severe sight damage, three broken limbs, and a damaged torso, and yet he kept fighting. NEW FORTRESS TIME. Any ideas on a theme?
  13. Ares continues through the hole in the wall, and looks around.
  14. "Thanks for the exit" says Ares, prodding Earth with his foot before climbing up to the building.
  15. Ares tries to regain conciousness, and repeat what he thought of before.
  16. Ares wakes up and climbs the ladder yet again, before walking through the gap created by the wall falling.
  17. Ares throws cards at the wall to create a ladder, before climbing up to the door and looking through it.
  18. Ares looks around for a door, and throws cards to cut it to pieces, before climbing through. He keeps his guard up in case any hostiles survived the fall. He recalls the cards, as per usual.
  19. Ares ignores the random person, before taking another card and once again attempting to cut through the wall, dodging the stone slab as it falls and climbing into the building. If he succeeds, he looks around.
  20. Ares waits for the building to finish falling then tries to wake up. If he does, he begins carving a hole out of the wall at the top of the manhole with a card, and then climbing into the overturned building.
  21. Ares runs diagonally to the direction the building is falling, while throwing yet more cards.
  22. Ares turns around and starts running away from the building, throwing cards behind him to try to slow it's fall.
  23. Ares throws several cards at the buildings supports in frustration.
  24. Ares wakes up with a yawn and tries to climb the damned building again.
  25. As I said, I had to go eat.
