Since this thread probably won't get much activity for the next ~25 days, I figured I'd post some Zelda humor  Link's Awakening [hide=If you haven't played Link's Awakening but plan on doing so, don't read this. Huge plot spoiler.] [/hide] Ocarina of Time [hide=Another spoiler, but if you're in the Zelda thread and haven't played Ocarina of Time then something is wrong.] [/hide]

oh look gil still didnt quit

You seem to have a lot of fans. 7/10, looks like most of your bank has just been riding the inflation on santas and masks. Do you even pk very much? It seems like you started out as a pure, then decided to become a low-leveled skiller just for prestige. -
You forgot the whiner: Someone who always knows better than Jagex, because professional game developers are clueless as to how to make a game. The fans always know what's best for the game. Always. Plus, bug fixes never ever happen in other games, so why the hell should Runescape dare to have a few slip through?

The bunny boot totally makes the picture.

Oh okay. I misunderstood you then. I completely agree with you now, I also see many intelligent people that just get terrible grades because they realize how stupid the school system can be. It takes a lot of effort to actually get a lot out of public school, in most cases more effort than we really should provide. DIE SHELDON DIE

Awesome job, congratulations! Glad to see you played to have fun. You should check out dungeoneering before you quit; it's very entertaining, especially if you're into the diy style of playing. -
In order to do well in school you don't need to be a mindless drone. If anything, I see most of the mindless drones as the people who are more concerned with getting attention from cute boys/girls. All they do is follow their instincts day after day, letting their hormones have more control over their bodies than their brain (not really but you know what I mean). Of course there are also smart people that get into the school rut and just seem depressingly boring and conform to everything are there, but they aren't that prevalent. It's much more fun to get good grades and question/correct things your teacher says. It's fun to either become friends or enemies with a teacher on purpose.

Littleboy, it's on NBC in America. You can find it on Hulu, I'm pretty sure they've finally de-Americanized themselves now. Since tonight's episode left an epic cliffhanger that was kind of already assumed, I figured it would be fair to speculate :D I think that Shaw's going to have a very crude intersect that messes with his mind more than Chuck's and pretty much becomes corrupt Hulk-Shaw that destroys everything and wants Chuck's head. Also I think someone important that's been with the show a while (coughmontageneartheendcough) will die soon. Possibly next episode. And Eli is annoying.

I just want to say that math isn't useless at all. If you can't apply it directly in real life, it will at least help your brain think logically. I've personally noticed that thanks to trigonometry, I find it easier to find alternative methods to reach solutions. Besides, math can be fun if you're in a good mood :D

Finally got my first two drops at sara today, after probably 5 trips of ~2 hours each. First ferocious ring. 75 slayer makes the skill much more fun :D Reached a 50m BOB for the first time. I feel like a rich bastard, it's awesome. But most of it's gonna go away once I get extremes, which will be pretty soon >.> Uni's going to come first though. But that won't really cost anything since I'll be getting all of the charms through slayer. -
Well, maybe. If it was a small piece, I'd say probably .5 kg, right? At most? So it falls 45 meters (from rest, I assume, if you dropped it) at a rate of 9.8m/s/s. An average person is roughly 2 meters tall or somewhere thereabouts. Time for some math! V^2=Vi^2+2ah V^2=0+2(9.8m/s/s)(45m-2m) V=29.03m/s. If it did hit a person, it would be moving at 29.03 m/s upon contact with their head. But velocity itself doesn't matter; the force occurs when it accelerate. In this case, it'll accelrate to 0 after contact with the head, somewhere around .01s is the usual time for a collision like that. That's assuming that once it hits, it'll stop right there and not bounce or anything, which may or may not matter. Anyway, a=(V-Vi)/t a=(0-29.03m/s)/.01s a=2,903.1m/s/s. F=ma=.5kg*2,903.1m/s/s=1,451.55N. That rock hits with a force of almost 1500 newtons. The force necessary to crack a human skull is 873 Newtons [1]. So yea, that rock might have killed someone. You should be ashamed. Of course, it was probably a much smaller rock than that. I'm just not good with kilograms on a relative size basis. Air resistance would also slow it down a bit, but this gives you a general idea. Also, if someone could check my calculations that'd be great. Well if you want to factor in air restistance, we could find the terminal velocity quite easily. The final equation would be a = (W - D) / m, but we'll have to find the drag first. The drag equation will be a bit difficult... it's D = Cd x ((ρ x v^2)/2) x a We'll just have to assume the drag coefficient (Cd) is 0.48, since that's the general coefficient for a rough sphere (Flodder I'll be pissed if that rock was an oval). We'll again assume the rock was a sphere to determine the density (ρ). So the density = m / v, and since it's a sphere, it'll be m / (4/3 x pi x r^3). To over-complicate things and make this one hell of a formula, I think I'll just stick this right into our original drag formula: D = Cd x ( ( ( m / (4/3 x pi x r^3) ) x v^2 ) / 2 ) x a Now to put in stuffs we already know: D = (0.48) x ( ( ( 0.5 / (4/3 x pi x r^3) ) x 29.03^2 ) / 2) x 9.8 So to find the radius we'll have to assume again... I think it would be fair to say that the rock could be 8 cm (.08m). There fore the volume of the rock would be 4/3 x pi x (.08)^3, which equals 0.002143573. Thus the density is 0.5 / 0.002143573, which equals 233.2554. Here's the simplified equation so far: D = ( 0.48 ) x ( ( 233.2554 x ( 29.03 ) ^ 2 ) / 2 ) x 9.8 Moar simplification... D = 0.48 x 98286.9 x 9.8, which equals 462,341.73. ... That doesn't seem right at all, and right now I'm too lazy to go fix it, so I'll just say yeah the rock probably would have killed a person. - I envy the asexual. I absolutely hate the concept of love and sex, and really wish my hormones didn't make me like chicks. If I had a choice, I would not only abandon sexuality but also discard all emotions except those that make me appreciate good music/art/food/etc., humor, and satisfaction (e.g. woot finally 99 wc ftw lolz/woot just designed the new iWatch that will sell millions ftw lolz). Because to be honest, sex is a really disgusting thing, it's a shame it feels so good and so many people (especially my age) crave it so damn much. It sucks being a teenager male human. Aaaaaaanyways, the confession I actually came to this thread for... I used to use guide books a lot on video games. Up until a couple years ago, I would use a guide book on any video game I bought, even Pokemon games. So to make things right I've decided to replay Ocarina of Time again, but this time without a guide book. It's a bit unfair since I've beaten it maybe 5 times, but it isn't like I've memorized the dungeons yet. The child parts were a piece of cake, though the adult is a different story... Forest temple was going well until I ended up stuck in a wallmaster room for a good 5 minutes because I couldn't find a key, so I just said screw it and saved and turned the game off >.>

The people here are nice, but the environment itself is rather depressing. I can't wait to move after I graduate next year.

Pretty funny show. It's captivating too, which is why I like it. Been watching it since it first started. Kind of interesting too, at some parts.

Rofl, died while looking at and being annoyed with this thread. I guess I deserved it, for being grumpy and multitasking too much at steels  Guy was nice enough to bless, got everything back. Don't feel like finishing the task though :P -
People should just grow up and deal with it. It's not that big of a problem considering how rare system updates actually are.

Aspeeder's got it. If you want to be a robot, you'd only use it on mining or agility because it provides the upper hand in regards to efficiency with those skills. However, if you really hate firemaking but love BA (kind of hard to though, unless you're with friends. Then it's a lot of fun. Just not with strangers..) then you should definitely use the horn.

Oh, and here are the real statistics for those of you that are curious: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?item1=7074&item2=8313&rs2item_tools=&compare=&submit=Compare Bandos beats dragon in crush defence, ranged defence, summoning defence, prayer, and strength. Dragon beats Bandos in stab and slash defences. Not that big of a difference.
-
This thread is pointless. Statistically, both platebodies are similar, offering trade-offs in different categories. However there is a large price difference. You can make efficiency calculations and prove which one is actually more worth the money (probably dragon plate), but the fact of the matter is that people think differently. One person might think, "I think Bandos looks cooler, and I have the cash, so I might as well buy it." And someone else might think the exact same thing about the dragon plate. People have different subjective preferences, which is why people tend to wear both rather often, and that is why this debate can only go in circles.

Well, yesterday I made my mother coffee-infused creme brulee for mother's day. That's the last exciting thing that's happened. Today I just felt miserable, I'm really sick and in one of those 'meh people are stupid hormonal idiots that only care about sex and attention and can go screw themselves, I wish I were a rock' types of moods. I'll probably end up skipping school tomorrow because I feel so terrible, to at least get me somewhat rested for the AP Language and Composition exam on Wednesday. At least I might get to go see Muse in October :o

My point was that would be a stupid thing to do, in my opinion. Unless I end up really rich, I'll probably only go to college once in my life. I want to make sure that I can learn as much as I can in those four years (or more). Skipping a course would be stupid in my situation, since it would mean that I get a lousy high school teacher to teach me a course that doesn't differ too much from a regular course at the school. I'd much rather have an actual professor teach me. It's kind of an elitist opinion, but whatever. None of the AP teachers I've had so far have been very good anyways. I've learned nothing so far, and believe me I'm definitely trying to get something out of these classes.
-
They weren't trolling at all, and they offered helpful advice. Stop overusing the word. I don't know of good places to hunt them; my best guess would be to walk around until you see a large amount of them together and just set up there. Or find someone who's hunting them, then just use their spot but on a different world.

In my opinion the ONLY reason to take an AP course is for the boost in your GPA, which is really a transparent boost since colleges take off the GPA from weighted courses, and the boost in class rank. The other reason is only to take it is if you enjoy the subject. Otherwise you'll just be shooting yourself in the foot with the course. Taking the course so you won't have to take it in college is a bad plan, because in high school you'll be taught the course from a teacher who's only had a few days of training on how to teach an AP course. If you take it in college, you'll actually have a professor with a master's degree in the subject they're teaching who knows what they're talking about.
