25-May-2011 Death Hats, Draynor and Upgrades
Botting is slower than actually playing. Quite a bit slower in some cases and in some cases faster. Especially when it's click 1, click 2, click 2, click 1...repeat. and in some cases slower. Especially when its "chop wood, click 1, click 2, click wood, repeat" or "click in front of agility obstacle, click 1, click 2, click obstacle, repeat when it doesn't waste time", etc.

wtf is this O_O
The only command I know is (I think) "displayfps" and it'll show a little bit of information about your game connection/speed.

 At least I've been buying/selling in 20k amounts so I'm not stuck with hundreds of thousands of useless items.

"Loafing" in Minigames
I don't agree with loafing in team-based minigames where the result of active players is effected by loafers. But loafers will be loafers. There is nothing we can do about it in some minigames besides hope for an activity bar which would be flawed as mentioned earlier. I'm not sure where you think the sense of accomplishment comes from if you loaf 90% of the trimmed requirements (think: climbing the first 900 meters of Mt. Everest, then taking a helicopter to the top).

Although I won't be quick enough connection-wise to dg with y'all for a few more months, I'm wondering how important is it that we become a recruit rank rather than join the cc as a guest? I'm guessing I'd just have to suffer through a time of not getting on to many floors until people recognize me enough to know my qualities in a dg?

Regarding the recent updates
Have Jagex been successful in showing more integration with clans with the recent update? ~They've shown they have a desire to be more involved with clans. This recent update doesn't meet the needs of any classification of clans though, as I've seen complaints/suggestions for improvement from all types of clans. Has your clan been taking full advantage of the update? (Cape Customization, Rated Clan Wars, Wilderness Kill/Death Ratio, Placing your Vexillums, etc) ~No, and won't be using it until there's been helpful changes to the clan chat. Also we don't do clan wars or pk so those aspects will never be used. Here are some of the issues that I, and/or my clan, have with the current system: - No LS/CS - [10-20 characters] begins every chat text line. This needs to be shortened before the CC can be useful. - Only Admins can kick members from CC. (lower ranks can only kick guests) - Can't leave the CC What are your thoughts on the argument concerning clan member's privacy? Should a clan member be allowed to leave the clan channel and be entitled to their own privacy or should they always be in there? ~ While it is helpful to prevent skipping in warring clans, it IS an issue in other clans. I know a few people who don't want to appear rude to clanmates by being obviously online and not answering talk (assuming they would have cc/private off, but can't leave the cc) and would prefer to leave the cc as well. Somebody mentioned that its easy to track people, which is true...if they aren't smart about it. The easiest way to skip a war without being seen is stealing creation. There's zero exp gains and if you enjoy skilling (which is the only demographic that makes sense to skip wars and still be on runescape) then SC should be played anyways.

I'll have to do a floor or two so you can evaluate whether my internet is too slow. Its reasonable most of the time, but sometimes lag spikes really screw me up.

19-Apr-2011 - Items Kept on Death Changes
An ideal team doesn't have all 5 with hexhunters, and you only see a great benefit with them if its your third bind. Using them as your only weapon is less effective than using a prom 2h as your only weapon. Unless the desperado update effected that, but i highly doubt so. Even with buyable rewards clans with 80-90 dungeoneering requirements wouldn't have a use for them except for buying the hood. Buying a hex before 100 dg doesn't make any sense, whereas binding one before 100 dg right now does make sense due to the rarity. Unfortunately with them being buyable for 200k tokens we'd see way too many hex users, and as a result the surgebox users would dwindle, effectively slowing floors down. I don't have a hex, but 2M is a proper amount of tokens for one. As it stands right now you're lucky to see a hex drop in 20M exp, and then you only have a 1/5 chance of getting the item. As for good Dungeoneering clans below 100: DGS. Better than 3bo imo.

Good guide, thats definitely the way to kill hope. One of the first teams I was with in the days after the safespot was removed used this method and it worked great...then I went to 148 and nobody would listen to me about this method, resulting in most everyone dying a couple times. And I'd dg with y'all still but am laggy and would have a slow response time...unless you don't mind that too much I'll stick with overworld runescape for a little while.

Places where Chaotic maul excells
This. I've tried it with a maul on task and use a few brews (as I ovl on them, food could work with extremes) to stay alive with a yak. Its a pain when they do 3, 400+ icy breath attacks in a row.

Soloing Yk is a waste of time/resources as a 5 man team can do it in less than 90 pray. I think people insist on soloing because they don't have faith in random people knowing how to do it properly. As for personal gs vs running...running's way better IF you can do it quick enough so he doesn't mage. I find you get one more attack in between Yk's specials when running compared to using the gs method. Probably the best way to practice/learn the running method so you don't screw up is to go to a Yk floor solo and with no weapon equipped just practice running/attacking for a little while. Though with all that said, be prepared to have every idiot on 148 tell you to stop running and use the gs method.

200M in all Skills
Doing C2 fishing I was getting 1,000-1,200 dg exp per dungeon.

Guess I'll start trying again, but with pen & paper. And don't worry about having to leave, its understandable that once in a while something important pops up suddenly. I've had that happen as well. Not sure, I've been seeing one per two resets lately.

For hope I was on a team that did a 1 tank, 4 mage method that seemed to work good. The tank protects melee and stands between hope and the mages (preventing hope from meleeing anybody else), everyone turns prayer off when he does his "groaaaaaaar", and its a quick fight. That method may have worked because one of the mages was the character hope would switch to attack whenever he was in the room, therefore not damaging the tank much at all. I've only tried that method once, but as I said it seemed to work with 0 deaths and was quick.

As was said many times, they don't just DG together. I've been able to tag along in quite a few floors with ranks, often with a single rank (and like to think I held my own), and I probably could get in more floors, but I'd rather keep dungeoneering rather than waiting for them to finish their floors. For me if I don't get a response (from anybody) about floors I'm looking for in 10 minutes I'll just go to 148 and hope I get a decent team (there are a few there). I would learn to key better so I could offer that service to DGS, but I find my memory's too awful to do it fast. Maybe I'll try again.

for dread have 4-5 maging it, if it targets you then run around the room you shouldn't be using blast spells you should be using surge spells for blink, it's easier with more people as you have more people to cover more areas for pillars Ah ok, so would it be worth upgrading my blaster ring to tier 5ish or higher for just dread? And I was using blasts because it's all I had available at that time. Blaster doesn't affect him. 20 bucks says it does... Blaster is the entangle one, right? I know the entangle ring setting works on whathisface brute boss from the abandoned floors. Tired atm... I'll bet 50M gp that it doesn't work. (I'm serious) I've had dreadnaught without the safespot, tried the blaster and while it shows the bind animation he doesn't stop moving. Though you are right about it working on the abandoned brute. Are you sure about this? As far as i've heard and the manual says, you get prestige xp(first column) for the floor that gets ticked off and base xp(second column) for the floor you did if you tick a higher floor off with a lower one. Thus, because base xp is almost constant, you only lose around 200 xp per floor that is higher than what you just did. Quoting the KB:

Dungeoneering / Fishing
I've a question regarding this, and think its on topic enough to include in here rather than starting a new thread. How low would the fishing exp/h have to reach before you're better off c1'ing? Oh and just to give an idea of exp/h at lower levels, I managed 60k/h. Would be faster with cosmics and logging out/in to drop.

You have it right, except the exp is identical to doing floor 52. You do 53. This floor gets checked and you get 53 base exp and 53 prestige exp. If you did 53 a second time you'd get 52 checked, 52 base exp and 53 prestige exp. If you did 52 next instead of repeating 53 you'd get 52 checked, 52 base exp and 53 prestige exp. The exp doesn't change, its simply the convenience of having more floors available to get the same exp.

Everyone seems to get this wrong, why can't people actually read the news... Quoting the KB: For example: I had 38 and 39 open today and i did 40 (for second time) it took the xp from 39 as if i just did 39, next time i do 40, it would take xp from 38. The 4th time it would start with higher floors (41, 42, etc..). I fail to see where I went wrong.

If you want to give up the good exp from F45-47, sure. And Thundrous doesn't take THAT long if all five people on the team know what they're doing. Yet we wouldn't be giving up the exp as far as I'm aware (I've yet to actually do any floors since the update). From my understanding if the only occults I had left to do were 45-47, I could do any random row of three occults and that would give me the experience for 45-47. Thats incorrect. If the floor is a lower floor than what you have open (ie. you have 45-47 open, but do 44 three times) then you get the experience for the floor you're doing, but the open floor gets checked. (you'd get floor 44 base experience 3 times) But it doesn't work the other way. If you do 47 three times and have 44-46 open you'd get 44,45 then 46 base experience even though you're doing floor 47.

Armadyl solo w/ ovls
You can solo easily, though its not great money. You're better off getting 83->85 dg and going to frosts, doing tds, etc. 2 overloads would probably be enough for you, I go through 2.5 when I use a yak. I also use a ratio of 7:5:1 Brew : restore : super prayer. Could probably drop one restore in the inventory for another super prayer. Your choice, I only tried getting this setup good for 4 or 5 trips. Use Enhanced Excalibur if you have it, its helps (and you've nothing else to spec with). Also keep a timer running so you know at which 15second interval your stats will be re-boosted so you know when its best to brew and when the overload will run out.

DG tokens
If I was to re-purchase my rewards I would get, in this order: Scroll of life, cleansing, rapier, gem bag, arcane stream, herbicide, cbow, rigour. Of the rewards I have, those are what I find the most useful/used the most. Although scroll of cleansing can wait if you don't plan on making potions (unf ones included as potions) for a while. With that said, its a must for any herblore other than cleaning herbs.

The "perfect" Smithing update
I'm not sure what/how they should implement a better smithing update other then providing untradeable rewards that are useful. They don't even have to be directly useful to melee (although thats what I'd prefer), I'm thinking cannon repair w/o having to pick up and drop the cannon would be one good advantage to high smithing. I said that in a different thread and I stand by the basic comparison as I was comparing the type of update (overload:herblore, aka useful untradeables, instead of lumberyard:woodcut, aka useless/near useless training method). In no way I said I'm wanting an update that will be as powerful as overloads in herblore, but what I do want is untradeable high level content that benefits combat/monster hunting. I really think they made herblore too powerful with overloads, as its a must for any sort of serious monster hunting. I'd much rather have most or all skills each add little bonus or dps to combat, whether it be in the form of life boosting armor for both smithing and crafting (doesn't have to be a lot of boost), smithing/fletching better bolts, as others said thieving & agility providing "max" hits, etc. In other words I think a maxed player should have some advantages in combat/monster hunting over someone with just maxed combat (or maxed combat and 96 herb).
