How does it hurt low income families or first nations when they can get photo id for free? Once again: It is completely reasonable to expect people to be able to prove they are who they say they are when carrying out an important civic duty. No one complains about having to provide ID to buy alcohol, but ask people to do it to vote, and shit hits the fan? Ridiculous. Probably different in Canada, but in this great country, photo ID is per-state (there is no federal ID). It has a fee (I think here it's $10). It requires various proofs of residency and identity (social security, birth certificate, bills and leases, so on). You have to go to your local DMV office, which is 6.5 miles from my home (so over a 2 hour walk away, or a 2 hour bus ride, which is another $3). The wait at the DMV can be... hours. Hours and hours. When I went (luckily my mom was still alive, and we had a somewhat reliable means of transportation [aka a '92 Ford Tempo; this was in 2010 I believe]), I had to wait six hours. Factoring in someone in a situation like me, 10 hours to try and get an ID and $13. These "proofs of identity" can be difficult for poorer households to obtain. Another copy of my birth certificate is $9, oh.. and I'd need a state-issued photo ID to request it from the Florida Office of Vital Records, hahaha... Depending on the other documents you choose, they can be hard or costly to obtain, as well. I'm not going to assume anyone here is in poverty. I guess I can't quite say I am either (projected yearly income is $16,800 between my brother and me, which is $900 above the federal poverty guideline, yay). However, I realize I'm lucky enough to squeeze by and make the best of my situation. Heck, my brother and me can probably put upwards of $50 a month away in savings starting in October ($1400ish a month income split up between $625 rent, $300 for gas/electric/water, $55 for internet, $45 for phone service, $230ish for food, $40 for my brother's bus fare, and $40 for miscellaneous bills [internet hosting, "Netflix" alternative aka VPN so I can torrent all the things, and Amazon Prime, which I may cancel soon enough]). Sadly, we couldn't afford a vehicle (I would have to obtain a license [so driver's ed + cost of license(s)], would probably have to pay more for insurance as a result, and also the upfront cost of a car and then maintenance afterwards). This alone puts my brother and me at a massive disadvantage in just about every respect. Due to lack of reliable transportation, I am still not sure how we will manage, if possible, going to college next year (2 hour bus ride there, 2 hours back; oh, and the bus essentially runs 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Saturday), disregarding how our employer's would handle the changes in the schedule and my health issues (namely insomnia and irregular sleeping patterns). In brief, there are a million factors working against lower income members of American society. Making it harder for us to vote is but one of them. edit: Yes, I'm aware you need photo ID to get a job or use many government services. Lucky for me, I was able to obtain one before my situation soured to the point it is today. Can you say the same for many others in poverty? No.

Voter fraud is a boogeyman, be it the presidential election or primary selection. It's a non-issue. At best, it's used to hurt lower income households, preventing them from voting (requiring state ID, which can be pretty difficult to get, either due to costs or simply the need to visit the DMV [transportation, time off work, so on]). Election fraud is a serious problem, however. Interestingly enough, gambling machines have incredibly stricter security standards, as well as government oversight and required transparency. Goes to show that money is more important than who is elected into political offices (be it legislative, executive, or judicial). I'd also like to note that many states make it harder for people to vote simply by not offering protections to employees during elections. Say you have work during voting hours in North Carolina (my wonderful [much sarcasm in this term] state of residence), and your employer refuses to let you take time off: uh oh, you can't vote without risking your job! And since the majority of low-wage employees have little say in their schedule, they have to choose between maintaining their position at work or voting. What a country.

No. Even better, the nomination process is different per state. In some states, the nomination process is "open." That is, you don't need to register your affiliation to vote in the primaries. In others, you are only able to vote in the primary of your party. In essence, this makes "independent" affiliation completely stupid, because you can't vote in any primary. Note: primaries are to decide who (or what, if we suppose most politicians are reptiles, har) the party will support. Currently, Clinton will probably win the Democratic primary, while some "moderate" Republican will win their respective primary. Any candidates who didn't snag the support of their party and didn't get chosen as the running mate will either run as independent candidates or drop out, though the outcome is the same in either case: they become irrelevant.
  4. Nice. Must feel good climbing the ranks among the 99%. But you'll never reach the 1%. We are the effigy hoarders, the ones whose dynasties rule the effigy markets. Who knows, you could've been one of us, but we cornered the market and pulled the strings. Now you'll never be one of us again. The only way you can move is down, now. I was wise, though. I rode the bears and the bulls, and that's why I am where I am today: the 1% of effigy hoarders. There's them guys with 100s rotting away, but it doesn't matter to me. At this point, I have as many effigies as I'll ever need.

Yeah, he won't. I don't doubt it. If he does, I'll be amazed. Even if he does, few citizens will do their part locally and Sanders will accomplish little (after all, Congress will be obstructionist at worst [in the event of Republicans winning a sizable number of seats], difficult at best [if Democrats hold a majority]). But I'm not going to be complacent simply because the odds are adverse. We're going to get a center-right politician at best, and then half the country will [bleep] about it, the other half will at best be content, but more likely disappointed. If a Democrat wins, they'll be painted by Republicans as a commie (see Obama, who is center-right). If a Republican wins, they'll be painted by the Democrats as the next authoritian warmonger (see Bush, who is center-right). At best, the choice of Supreme Court justices will have the largest impact on future progress (so I hope a Democrat wins, otherwise hello to more Citizens United rulings). The oligarchy will cement itself further in our political system, from legislation to executive to judicial. On the surface, the status quo will essentially remain the same, but in truth, our freedoms and happiness will weaken. It doesn't matter if same-sex marriage is legal when our economic mobility comes to a halt and the general public are indentured servants to Corporate America in all but name. These small triumphs mean nothing in a larger context.

Bernie Sanders is having a rally at most 2 hours away from me this Sunday. Sadly, I don't have a car, so in reality, he might as well be having a rally in Hawaii, because I won't be able to go. My brother also has work Sunday, so it would be brutally unfair for me to go and not him. Though once John McAfee officially runs, all the other candidates will be insignificant. The other candidates require people. Sadly for the Rederps and Libtards, McAfee only requires computers. He wiill simply win 99% of the vote. Everyone will be saying "I didn't vote for him, and no one I knew did!" but it won't matter, he'll be president because electronic ballets and voting machines are UNHACKABLE! so obviously 99% of the voters chose him. (I have a fan theory that McAfee is my uncle from another timeline. I can't explain why McAfee is 15 years older, though... But they share a first name, and conveniently have the same initials... also, they're both exceedingly successful [and wealthy, though the alternate timeline one got into a more lucrative and profitable industry]. Too bad the uncle in my timeline isn't nearly as cool, though. Also, I should've mentioned it's a "joke fan theory" [well, about McAfee being my uncle from an alternate timeline], I'm not that crazy).

Are snails viable pets in terrariums? How dirty are they? I mean, I'd prefer a tarantula. But come on, the cuteness is too much: (Now imagine this snail being 7000 feet long [and proportionate girth], eating humans... Awww. In any case, I'd keep my snail away from caesium-137, but just imagine if a snail absorbed some... a dehydrated, undead, giant, radioactive snail, essentially a sluglike eldritch abomination... the stuff of nightmares).

I don't understand purposely inducing detachment from reality, especially if you're using it to self medicate some issue in your life (note: I don't mean you are depressed or upset, by any means, and using alcohol as a coping mechanism [i.e., due to unemployment]; I just want to provide an anecdote). Every moment I later reflect on seems no more real than a fictional story penned by some author, or watching a movie, or so on. The present seems real enough, but so do my dreams, especially the ones I wake up from, get out of bed, have breakfast or use the bathroom or check the news--and then I wake up, frustrated, thinking didn't I already do this? So I get out of bed, have breakfast or use the bathroom or check the news, and then I wake up... When do I know I'm not dreaming? How do I know my current wakeful period is simply a longer dream than the others? Since I can't ever be sure, so I must continue as if I am awake. So I see it's nearly 5:00 pm--I was in bed for upwards of 12 hours, some of it asleep, the rest confused and thinking and waking. That's nice, considering I only had 2 hours of sleep, at best, for nearly a 24 hour period prior (which is also nice, because at least I had managed to fall asleep, rather than start falling apart after being awake over 50 hours). There's not enough time to put together a dinner, but there's too much time to idle at work before I clock in. Oh well. So I have a quick dinner, get ready and walk to work. On the 20 minute walk, I listen to at most a few songs over and over; today was Detroit Social Club, and try to focus on the song instead of thinking. Thinking often leads to a reflection of my state of mind; a sense of unknowing and distrust for my own experiences. I'm somewhat successful, I guess, while I listen to "Sunshine People," and then "Rivers and Rainbows," and then "Kiss the Sun", and then repeat. I arrive at work 30 minutes early, so I grab some stuff my brother and I need at home, and then pay with my EBT card, wondering how much the benefits will decrease since my brother and I have been working for a bit now. Will our increased income not cover the decrease? Is feeling "full" after dinner more important than staying cool in 90+ degree weather and high humidity? Oh well, worries for another day. After listening to "Sunshine People" and "Rivers and Rainbows" and "Kiss the Sun" about twice more, I begin work. As it happens, some one is having some breakdown at the front end, either from not taking the medication they were prescribed or abusing something that they obviously weren't. Her yelling and aggressive behavior, although not directed towards me, is discomforting... and then scary... and then, oh no, there's something following me. I know what it is, somehow--a lanky, smiling, humanlike abomination--and it's right there behind me. So not only is there that crazy women, there's crazy me. Of course, unlike the customer, I work here and have to hide my fear and paranoia. So I continue doing my job, although I'm unable to look behind me (because what if I see it with my eyes!) or back up (because I don't want to touch it). Once all the garbage is gathered, I head outside to collect carts (and to get away from that customer who is still [bleep]ing after nearly 45 minutes). It's a bit difficult to do so without backing up, but I manage it, even after the police show up to defuse the situation. Their presence doesn't help--they aren't trained to deal with someone like me, and I don't know how well I'd be able to deal with them if something happens. As well, did anyone of importance notice how I would circle around rather than back up? I hope not, because then I'd have to explain myself. Luckily, no one did. The persistence of this delusion fades, and I'm able to finish my job by closing. My brother stopped by from his job and is waiting outside. We sit and talk a bit until a coworker is able to drop us off home an hour later. So I take off my uniform, have a sandwich, and then head back to my room. I essentially sit at my computer, trying to do something. A visit a few forums and sites, post a reply that will be dismissed in a discussion about climate change. An hour later, I watch an episode of a show I appreciate. Despite me enjoying the show, it's hard for me to watch it, or any show, or movie, because I don't want to do anything. Finding motivation or the will to click "Play" is pretty hard. Finding the will to diddle around in some programming language, or continue reading from where I left off a week ago, or doodling on some program or paper, or so on... those are harder. The show ends. The next episode is queued on the playlist. All I would have to do is click "Play." But instead, I stare at the screen for a bit and then hit my usual internet sites. Ok, World War III hasn't started... Nothing new in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire since yesterday... And so on, until I realize I hadn't checked Off Topic in upwards of a day. I skim the posts. Oh, my brother still wouldn't be able to handle a tarantula even in an terrarium... someone is getting their annual shower... and then a post about getting drunk. I took Abilify (and had tried a bunch of others under a psychiatrist's direction) and Zoloft for a few years. It seemed to work better than not taking them. Upwards of a year and a half ago, their effectiveness essentially dropped. Increases in Abilify caused me to sleep for nearly 18 hours, and be drowsy for the rest, so I returned to my regular dosage as prescribed and directed; ok, I don't sleep for as long and feel more awake, but it takes me 2 hours to fall asleep now. Zoloft is too expensive, so I stop taking that and don't notice a difference. I finally dropped Abilify on my own (not cold turkey--I'd probably be more screwed up now if I had). Good thing too, the patient assistance program is dropping the medication (nothing odd that the patent expired this year and the program was discontinued in turn, nope, perfectly coincidental). So here I am, disconnected from Ye Olde Reality, not of my own doing. I'm suffering, miserable, scared, paranoid, sad, lonely... All day, every day. My doctors, therapists, and prescribed medications are at best a temporary solution to this seemingly permanent problem. I mean, my care provider doesn't think my issues affect my daily life "significantly." I suppose being a good imitator of general social interaction helps hide the issues, and mostly staying in my room hides the rest. Numbing myself in any way--alcohol or tobacco "recreational drugs"--would be yet another temporary solution. However, unlike, say, going to a therapist, they would accelerate my descent, as they do many others, both sick and otherwise healthy. In the end, I'd rather be aware of my problems and not introduce any more. I wonder what it would be like, being "healthy" and otherwise functioning. I guess those who are healthy tend to take it for granted, and those who aren't value temporary relief, regardless of the aftermath, than perpetual suffering.
  9. I know. When I sold pure essence, I think it was still only usable by members (sucks for ex-members who had the essence converted to pure... nice oversight, Jagex). Runes were also worth substantially more and the Abyss was the most common training method (ZMI was probably too expensive, and Abyss RCing was still decent profit). Magic was the best combat skill for multi PKing and an excellent complement to melee (while range was still useless) with things like Shadow Barrage + Ice Blitz + AGS (I think that's the combo) stacking. Good thing I cashed in when I did, or I'd have essentially lost a lot of money (even with pure essence being 12gp now and rune essence back when I bought a boatload being 10gp, the purchasing power was much higher back then than now... thanks mighty inflation overlords).
  10. Before the "bot busting" pure essence update, I had over 50k rune essence I had bought over the span of a week in Varrock east bank for maybe 10gp per. Some time later, I sold 50k pure essence for something like 100 to 150 gp each. I also bought a Santa hat in Seers for a full set of rune and flipped it at Varrock within the hour for 150k profit soon after I became a member. In other news, I took the time to explain why Mega-Rayquaza would annihilate TzTok-Jad using some arbitrary conversions. This is why numbers must have context. Just because Rayquaza maxes at level 100 and TzTok-Jad is level 702 doesn't mean TzTok-Jad would even compare to Rayquaza's power levels :D. Even in RuneScape, sub-level 100s show Jad why prayers were OP.

I would love a pet tarantula! Sadly, my brother has a moderate-to-severe phobia of arachnids. It's bad enough that he would never come inside if he knew there was a creature with eight legs that was about as large as his chihuahua inside the house. I'm thinking of getting a terrarium with snails instead. But apparently cleaning up after snails is difficult. I'll find something, one day... Something that won't eat our chihuahuas or scare my brother.
  12. Also the skilling outfits with 5 items give a 6% boost, not a 5% one. 1% boost for each item, and an extra 1% for a full set.
  13. So I went to Tormented Demons today. Haven't killed them much since July 11 of this year. I soon noticed something was amiss... So after doodling around for a bit, it turns out Wild Magic is behaving stupidly. I'll quote my Reddit post: Warning: this is probably (to the community at large) a useless observation. However, for me (and perhaps others), it's asinine and frustrating. I noticed while killing Tormented Demons today on a whim that Wild Magic's behavior has been modified at some point, perhaps to the behavior it had before the responsive combat update on February 9, 2015. Pre-responsive combat, when firing Wild Magic, if more than 3100 magic damage was dealt to the Tormented Demon before the second Wild Magic hit appeared, more often than not the demon would switch prayers. As a result, the second hit will be nullified, greatly reducing DPS. However, wands were not affected. In turn, staves were objectively worse (I speculate that Virtus wand + book would have been superior to a Noxious Staff because of this [and only at Tormented Demons, mind you]). This behavior has returned. I searched Patch Notes and found that Wild Magic's hits were separated slightly (therefore returning Wild Magic to its behavior before the responsive combat update, I guess?) on July 13, 2015. I'm aware that's over a month ago but I haven't been playing much, let alone killing Tormented Demons, but I digress. This is a problem since Wild Magic is one of the best abilities to use against Tormented Demons. In fact, unless you can kill a Tormented Demon in under 20 seconds and move on to the next one (which would mean you kill at least 180 an hour, which in my opinion is not feasible to sustain consistently hour by hour), you will use it nearly every kill. Considering it is the prime high-DPS magic ability, this greatly reduces KPH and efficiency (on a guess I'd say it could be upwards of 10 less kills an hour if my prior experience means anything, which is nearly 10% less per hour for me [or over 600k less gp/hr]). The notes mentioned Snap Shot also being affected. However, as far as I could tell, Snap Shot (at least with dual wielded weapons) still lands both hits regardless. Therefore you can do something like Needle Strike + Snap Shot: if Needle Strike and the first Snap Shot hit deal something 5000 damage (i.e., over the 3100 prayer switch target), the second hit of Snap Shot will still land, regardless. This is contrary to Wild Magic (at least with staff weapons). I do not have any dual wielding magic weapons so I cannot test if the behavior is different, but I wouldn't be surprised. This means a few outcomes depending on if Wild Magic now has the pre-February 9, 2015 behavior: If Wild Magic has its previous behavior (i.e., mechanics prior to the February 9, 2015 update), staves are objectively inferior to wands. Noxious staff would be inferior to Seasinger kiba + makigai, perhaps even Virtus wand + book. There is no doubt this is silly. If Wild Magic is the same for dual wielding and staves, then magic has been nerfed at Tormented Demons as a side effect of some useless change. At least it's still superior to melee, I guess.tl;dr: Wild Magic has recently changed its behavior at Tormented Demons due to some silly reason, greatly reducing its effectiveness with staves and perhaps dual wielding.
  14. You shouldn't use Warpriest at Tormented Demons. In fact, even if tier 99 hybrid potato armor was released, using this hybrid potato armor would be like wearing raids tank gear while killing dummies. Unless you have 900 ping, you should pretty much be able to survive simply by prayer switching (especially since most people only use two spots, if that, and thus never should be attacked by more than one demon). Soulsplit, Blood fury necklace, and Elite enhanced excalibur provide more than enough passive healing. An argument may be made for Tuska Warpriest, but it's lower DPS than even regular Void... The only non-Void armor I could suggest at Tormented Demons would be Dragonrider if you don't have an attuned ectoplasmator and the demon horn necklace to have basically infinite prayer points*. Of course, I can't speak for the other two you mentioned, but I wouldn't be surprised if Warpriest is considered welfare gear even there. *: You could kill nearly 5,000 Tormented Demons in one trip with these two items. In fact, your weapons will be long degraded before your ectoplasmator is depleted...
  15. $45 a month for unlimited call and texts and 2 GB of data. It's the cheapest I can get on Tmobile with unlimited call/text, as far as I can tell. Data usage varies but is generally under 500 MB, but I prefer 2 GB just in case of an emergency where I don't have internet access and need to download a Linux ISO (hahaha, ok).

I had a dream about an escape route in a castle. Basically, it would be a relatively obscure tunnel with a set of stairs going down, staying level for about 100 yards, and then going up again. At the top of the second set of stairs, there was a way to dam a sizable stream of water (basically a heavy metal door that was above the exit of the stream, locked in place by a horizontal metal bar). In order to prevent the opposing force from reaching our party, I pulled the bar and dropped the door, thus flooding the 100 yard passage and preventing anyone from following. I wonder if such a thing existed in reality. Seems kind of difficult to pull off in reality (since you need a steady source of water and advance notice)), but I guess it could.
  17. Please don't tell me that's for RS3.
  18. Ok, when people post about technology/computing and don't know anything about it. I don't mean some baby boomer or technoliterate elderly person. I mean those who play games and are under 30, heck, under 20. "Java is the reason RuneScape's graphics suck!" No, the reason RuneScape is laggy for its graphical fidelity is because they butcher graphics state so badly. They disregard rendering state over and over, making thousands of redundant calls per frame. They don't make good use of resource management or use modern graphics techniques to boost performance. RuneScape's OpenGL rendering loop is a giant hack of GL 1.4 and GL 2, with some random ARB extensions thrown in. "Java doesn't support big textures!" See above. The major reason, if I'd have a guess, is the "anti-bot" color shifter. They don't do it in hardware (i.e., use the GPU), so they modify the texture on the CPU and then reupload it to the GPU every time the color shifts. Wow. "RuneScape NXT doesn't need to be 64-bit!" Yes, it does, unless Jagex purposefully wants people to not be able to game at 1080p (and 4K for those few who have it) with max settings. See here. This is just from the RuneScape community. I swear most people just regurgitate what they hear or learn and don't look much further.
  19. If it helps, Bunyip can heal you if it's not visible (i.e., "You need to stand in a larger spot" spam).
  20. Well I gave up trying to secure 100 limbs. However, here's 72 hours of killin': (Plus 10149 blue charms and 6520 crimsons). Price check before I sold: (I had a friend make the limbs into main-hand crossbows). Total loot: (About 6.5m gp/hr.) RIP in peace 9,577 Tormented Demons. Now there's less tormented souls in the world.

My grandmother's uncle (I believe, it was a while since I last heard the story) was killed by the Nazis in front of her and her family when he refused to fight for them. He was, if I remember correctly, a great pilot. YEA MY FAMILY REBELLED AGAINST THE NAZIS ON THEIR TURF AND DIDN'T GET BRAINWASHED. BOOYAH. Also if the American Revolutionaries had lost (and they would've most likely without the French, including my ancestors), there would have been no World War II as we know it. Thus, the American Revolution is more important. QED.
  22. Veiva replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
Well my ancestors on my father's side came from France as mercenaries to fight in the American Revolution and as a result were awarded land in what is now West Virginia. And my Oma (grandmother) swears her family had ties to a criminal organization in Germany pre-WWII (not related to Nazis, good thing!). Beat that!
  23. The familiar inventory ninja fix is awesome. 10/10.
  24. I would absolutely love necromancy as an elite skill. In a game I played with my brother, Egoboo, I would reanimate all enemies we killed into zombies. By the end of the dungeon, there were at least 20+ zombies following me. The Ash Temple was the best--there were so many scrumptious bodies to turn into zombies. Brains.
  25. Approximately 60 hours of Tormented Demons (8044 kills at about 133 kph): (As well as 8544 blues and 5488 crimson charms). Total is worth about 353.7m (I price checked dragon crossbows to be about 10.9m today): Limb drop rate in this smaller sample size is 1:350, but in my overall log of 38,600 kills it's 1:254. So 5.9m gp/hr with (relatively poor) luck isn't so bad, I think. Aiming for 100 limbs sometime in the future.
