  1. By that same logic shouldn't someone who is truly "bad" be incapable of doing anything good? And if everyone is bad originally, as you say, wouldn't that make every person on earth the devil incarnate since they're all unable to do good deeds?
  2. Same, I'm nineteen and still without a license (Wouldn't have a car anyway, but whatever), I can never shake the feeling that I'm in a metal death-machine and I know that having such a state of mind just leads to worse performance on the road.
  3. I've never lost a good friend of mine, but last year a classmate of mine died with his dad driving back home from college for winter break..it's such a surreal feeling...I'm sorry for your loss.
  4. Call me the next Hitler then. I don't hate it, and BLTs are pretty good, I just don't really like it
  5. I don't mind Taylor Swift because she's a girl or mostly sings about relationships and such, she's a talented artist who can write catchy tunes and I don't mind hearing her songs. I do mind how sexist she can be though, so actually listening to the lyrics can get a little bothersome. On musical shame though, I like DragonForce as mindless upbeat "metal" and I really like Glee (As is my girlfriend and I sing to it in the car).
  6. Never heard that before haha, here's the original image; it was intended to be mournful not suggestive. Now if you want suggestive ;)
  7. You're pretty naive. Ok...how? Maybe I am, but I'd consider myself pretty left. The reason I want more socialism in our country is not, "hurr durr capitalism b teh evuls, Lenin had it rite!!!" it's because it can be a cost effective method of keeping our lower class healthy and alive while stopping the powerful from taking too much advantage from their situation. You should try reading "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Socialism" by Kevin D Williamson. Anyhow, people pushing socialism are usually pandering to popular appeal - "They stole your wealth, we're going to take it back!" They usually replace one system with another (usually in a brutal civil war), while putting themselves up top. And socialism's track record for keeping its lower class alive is pretty bad - almost all of the worst genocides can be linked to socialism/centrally planned economies. ...I really wish to respond but I feel like we're going to derail this thread.
  8. EDIT: I'll give you an example, one of the news sites I frequent is Alternet.org, it's very liberally biased I'll admit. A search through their China tag reveals a generally neutral to somewhat negative/skeptical view.
  9. I honestly haven't heard that before, the left attacks China viciously for its human rights abuses and it's suppression/occupation of Tibet. Not to mention that the left usually wants socialism to support the lower classes, and China's command economy is largely used just to achieve growth at all costs whether or not it benefits the people.
  10. Right, but "babied" isn't the same thing as pro-women, besides that idea's pretty degrading.
  11. What if it isn't a big story because the media loves China? I feel like that's more likely. What? Sarcasm I do believe, he was pointing out that China's not exactly a government known for releasing facts to the press for worldwide scrutiny.
  12. Uhm, what do you mean "groups of people?" Also, based on this video and larger considerations I've been considering whether there really is, or should be, a "good-bad" dichotomy based on morality. Certainly there are harmful people, and people who commit horrifying acts that the world would be better without, but "bad" is not universal and the notion that some people are just plain "bad" can lead to potential disasters.
  13. I do, I'm pretty sure it's because I place my arms awkwardly when I sleep and the flow of blood is cut off, sometimes it takes me a minute or two to be able to move it again at all.
  14. Ok, seriously? I can understand where you're coming from if you're talking about the court system, where a harsher precedent has been set against men than women for sexual crimes, but a pro-female bias in society? Here's a report about the status of women in my home state, and it's not pretty.
  15. At least someone here sees the positive. There's not much that can be done now except for populating the cities and stopping the production of future ghost towns. Although they could do something like occupy these towns with homeless people. At first glance I'd agree, but you'd basically be sending them into the middle of the desert with a shelter. Whether you see them as leeches or survivors the homeless require either the charity or leftovers from other people who can get/have a job, without many other people and jobs I don't know where they'd get the things they need to live.
  16. If you really want to use a glory, make sure it's in the room next to your altar, further, make sure that the altar is next to your portal. Without changing your bones, familiar, or teleing that's about all you can do except for manually offering all of them which irc saves a tick of game time.
  17. Ok, this I can agree with. I'd be fine with them getting something like community service or whatever. They need to be held accountable. They knew fully well what they were doing. Agreed, I just think the reaction of "give them the same punishment the boys would get" was a little knee-jerk considering that those punishments can be very unjust.
  18. Surprised everyone's taking the environmental view, the video was so fixed on the social impact on those who do live there and the inflated price which might lead to a housing bubble. Very mixed up priorities the government seems to have, valuing the international perception of their economy over the well being of their people and land.
  19. Just thought I'd share that Hasbro noticed and appreciated this video too.
  20. I don't see how it's different than any other form of close player interaction. Which is why you do things that don't require player interaction. Well it is a multiplayer game you know. So I reap the benefits of others playing the game without having to talk with the vast majority of them.
  21. I just asked what was your source. I am not ignoring your argument but you are ignoring mine. You are leaving out how israel went out its way to warn Palestinians, which was a major part of the war. What country in the world tells people about its military operation before they happen, only Israel to avoid civilians deaths but again you like to leave this part out. The main point of the attack was to stop Hamas from bombing Israel. Are you trying to argue what Israel said? Its a fact. Yes i am pointing out how Hamas fought because of they way they did there was many more civilian deaths. The only one who is terrorizing the Gaza strip is hamas a terrorist organization Here is the son of the founder of Hamas You think Israel is the only country whose military warns civilians in advance to evacuate? You seriously think that basic military tactic frees their military of all consequences? It doesn't, and like I said even without extraordinary civilian casualties the attack was still able to cause widespread economic and moral harm to the general population. And I'm not trying to say Israeli leaders didn't say something, I'm saying that they are lying/not telling the whole truth and that they have motives hidden from general publicity, just like any government. I'd argue that an entity that dumps white hot phosphorous on the public is committing an act of terror, so Hamas is far from the only group terrorizing people.
  22. In defense of that stance, here's an article about how juvenile sex offenders are unlikely to repeat their crimes in comparison to adults committing similar crimes, and the harm that full prosecution can do to a young person's life.
  23. They also achieved that ratio by planning for the attack months in advance, even while they were negotiating with Palestine for a ceasefire; I wouldn't call that acting defensively. And despite the ratio, the fact remains that during Operation Cast Lead both sides committed violations of human rights and are guilty of war crimes. I'd also stand to guess that the crippled infrastructure from the bombings hasn't saved any lives; a sentiment echoed by the UN Fact Finding Mission: Everyone before going to war plans but you are just trying to make Israel out to be the bad guy. Only 2-3 incidence involving 2-3 soldiers each time for israel is what you base your whole argument over. Yes a few soldiers didn't follow orders but in every army you have those types of soldiers i can show you many times in other army's where this has happened. Unlike the IDF who had a few men not following orders and breaking international law. The other side of the war fought by the Palestinians terrorist group Hamas, who consistently broke international law forcing israel to fight against them in UN schools there are many examples of how they broke the law. As a whole group they broke the law unlike the IDF which had individuals who did. First off the UN fact finding mission was very bias not stating the 10 years of bombardment from rockets. It only criticized Israel. Second the writer of it later took it back saying he had mistaken. Also don't bring me a random quote or i am going to assume your wrote it without showing your source Ok, you doubt my sources? Here it is, moving on. You're ignoring the argument I made that the entire point of the attack was less about destroying Hamas's physical ability to bomb Israel than it was about demoralizing, and yes, terrorizing the population in the Gaza Strip. You're arguing about the smaller picture for Israel, only looking at the individual soldiers while ignoring the military tactics as a whole, while scrutinizing Hamas's methods both at an individual and systemic level; that kind of biased reasoning and argument isn't going to work. EDIT: And seriously? 16 people died from Palestinian rocket attacks over the years and Israel responds by killing hundreds of innocent civilians in addition to the combatants, even accounting for mental harm caused by the rockets that is disproportional violence. You also state that "It's ok, they warned people beforehand to get out of their houses," all well and good, but I assume that their houses were destroyed. And in the life in the Gaza Strip isn't exactly a breeze, what were they going to do next?
  24. Actually no i did, i understood. It was previously stated in this thread that the average deaths in a armed conflict is 10 civilian death for 1 combatant. In Operation cast lead Israel went out of its ways dropping hundreds of thousand of pamphlet warning about the raids and that if there houses were involved in terrorism they should leave it. The IDF made many calls warning people 5 minutes before bombing each building, the IDF also recorded every bombing on the satellite and later uploaded it to you tube for all to see. Israel broke this 10:1 ratio and achieved a ration of 1:1.5 meaning for ever civilian that died 1.5 terrorist were killed. In every conflict there are civilian deaths but the fact that Israel achieved such a amazing ratio seems to be forgotten and left out They also achieved that ratio by planning for the attack months in advance, even while they were negotiating with Palestine for a ceasefire; I wouldn't call that acting defensively. And despite the ratio, the fact remains that during Operation Cast Lead both sides committed violations of human rights and are guilty of war crimes. I'd also stand to guess that the crippled infrastructure from the bombings hasn't saved any lives; a sentiment echoed by the UN Fact Finding Mission:
