  1. Tell that to Nomad. That's what I was gonna say :(. This boss makes Jad feel weak.
  2. Jagex... are funny people. They like fixing what doesn't needs to be fixed alot (see the 09 updates), and doesn't see spamming as such a huge issue. It's like before luring were made a bannable offense, the gullible and stupid are always going to be 'victims' of a massive organised scam. I think if a thread on the Rsof gets enough attention, MAYBE, just MAYBE, Jagex will change things. The PvP statuettes update were a direct result of people complaining about the deflation and how the DFS, DFH and Dchains were unfair and unjustly in PvP.
  3. The true definition of Grand Master is... whatever Jagex decides. Grand Master Quests, as above stated; factors in length, difficulty and the initial requirements. I simply cannot see how it can be argued this is NOT a GM quest, because it is, just not super long storyline wise. Jagex has already stated that this isn't going to a quest where you search the world for answers. So flaming Jagex for branding a quest not GM because of the simplicity of it's storyline is just libel. [hide=Jagex Quote]Our second Grandmaster quest is wildly different from While Guthix Sleeps; instead of searching the world for answers, Nomad’s Requiem is set wholly beneath Soul Wars. Don’t be foolish enough to think that this makes it less challenging, however. Indeed, expect quite the opposite: this quest is densely packed with intricate puzzles, punishing environments and at least one battle that will push you harder than almost any other on RuneScape, whatever combat level you’ve reached. You have been warned! Those who persevere and complete this quest will be rewarded with Zeal Points (among other things), which are stored at Soul Wars and can be spent in your own time. [/hide]
  4. And a third larger group will see what you mean and think you're wrong. I have a sudden urge to agree with you!
  5. How exactly were you making overloads with 93 herblore? I suppose you were stewing?
  6. I wouldn't know but my guesses are yes, bring Dragon Claws (or Vls/Swh) and spec it as much as you can, especially in Berserker mode where you have NO time to waste. Soul split is a great idea too.
  7. Just Wow at the amount of users reading this topic. Lol. Found this on Rsof and it's probably useful [hide=Rsof, by Sad325, read at your own risk, kinda guide like] 11-Jan-2010 19:55:49 OK.. as you can see i have done the quest...You can look at my Log.. Anywayz.. How to Kil Nomad: - I did not use overload - I did not use AGS - I used SOUL SPLIT and TURMOIL - I used WAR TOR. with full sharks - MUST wear black hide or better in magic def. What I Wore: Helm of neit. Fury Blk Top Blk Legs Barrow Gloves Rune Def Str ammy ( str is better then fury cuz of str + } Fire cape Whip Inv.: 3 Super restore 2 sara brews 1 super str 1 super att DDS rest is sharks. How i killed it.. He does the same moves. so the first think is pot up before u go in and put soul split and turmoil BECAUSE PROTECT FROM MELEE or MAGE DONT WORK! So first thing is dds spec intel no spec and whip him.. when u see the red dots that feel from top then he will attack u a 75 hp.. so when ever u see the red dots on the floor eat intel ur higher then 75hp.. then he will use a spell that makes him into 4 Nomads u have to find the real one fast so u dont take to much damage.. when u find the real one you will have like 10 sec to attack him intel he freez u and charge up for the 98 hp attack.. so in that time while he is charging up thats where the sara brew comes in.. use intel ur 115 hp and drink super restore and super str and super att.. he hits 98.. you eat intel ur 99 hp and attack him at normal.. and repeat cuz thats the same moves he uses.. when he is about 20hp he will melee u and there will be no more magic so becare-ful.. ill answer any questions u have.. ill also turn on my cc if u need extra help on Nomad or Avatar [/hide] Also - The avatar heals only 3 times, confirmed by players. I think this boss is exactly what we need. Melee overpowered? Lol. It's putting players to the test, even though I haven't done the quest Nomad looks (in difficulty) something in between Solo Jad and Melee Zilyana. In fact, it's similiar in many aspects. The quest cape is now truely deserves it's respect it long required. Hmmm - Looking at the rsof post I quoted, it could probably be done easier with Overloads and Full brew, including a yak full of brew. Nomad apparently goes into beserker mode after going to 1/5 of it's health, which makes it hit like Zilyana
  8. Lol Merchanting. Pvp tricking was my old one, made over 95% of my bank with that >.>. Bleh I've spent 400m of it already, spent all that money and then some ;o
  9. As long as there are gullible people out there, forms of scamming will exist. Remember all those autotypers that went "Omg Jagex blocks your pass if you type it backwards, ****!" The only solution there is; as stated many times before, until the day Jagex changes their rules/applied common sense, and or makes a less exploitable exchange system, there will always be manipulation and scamming. There are methods to gain money from manipulation, but it's very difficult if you do not understand the market. I'd aim for f2p items personally, mainly because f2pers are so restricted the same few items gets manipulated over and over again. Red spider eggs, Power amulets, and Uncut Gems <- They get manipulated around once a month or less, so if you have a large surplus of gold, these are relatively safe investments. After around 4 days of manipulation, dump at max. That would prevent you getting scammed, also, depending on size on clan, they can survive the dump usually. I do prefer flipping, it's one of the traditional methods of merchanting that does less direct impact to the GE, unless a panic causes everyone to dump. Manipulation and Flipping works in a similiar way, but flipping is "Out patiencing impatient people" and earning a pretty profit from it, manipulation is a massive organised buy out that damages the community when a item needed is near impossible to buy. Just thought you'd like to see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJQyY25v8-8

  11. Lolno, complete bias. Manipulation is the form of 'merchanting' that is community damaging and a common pest, other forms such as flipping is fine and it relies on patience, we do not FORCE people to buy an item for more, people choose to voluntarily. People who buy stuff out buys things at MAX, people who flip buy things at MID.
  12. That's true, and is in fact a bannable, or at least a mutable, offence. However, most of these ranks are clever with wording, they tell others to "advertise" which is not directly against the rules, therefore they aren't encouraging others to break rules (in Jagex's eyes). I think Jagex really needs to amend their rules before 'fixing' the economy. Jagex lacks one thing - Common sense
  13. "Until the day Jagex changes their rules or makes a less exploitable system, Manipulation will always exist."
  14. Snow is no big deal to me, but damn, most pavements are completely engulfed by 2 inch thick ice and I have to walk 200m to get to a bus stop to get to a exam. [bleep] exams, I'm staying home.
  15. Banned for being easily amused >.>
  16. It's not directly related to lots of GP's in the economy, but it does play as a factor. Manipulation clans have been around since the release of the GE, but now it's just going too far. Until the day Jagex either fixes the GE, with a newer, more robust system that can not be so easily exploited, OR amends the rules, there is nothing much we could do except for spreading the word on how these clans scam.
  17. Floor spikes? If it did then that sucks! have had that happen to me lol. but it was a tort completely full of ppots ;-; Why didn't you renew familiar so you don't have to waste time picking it back up? And wtf? range brawlers? if u die i l0l Happened to me before with full tort too, easy to pick up if you have enough blood barrages.
  18. I think you've got it totally wrong. "Merchanting" clans, or so they call it, work as a Pyramid scheme. Let's group the types of players into the following categories; "Leaders", "Ranks", "Autotypers", "Victims of the scam", "Smarter ones who don't get scammed" Basically, before a clan item is ever chosen, all the leaders and ranks would stock up, buying a little over mid price. Proof on this is easy to find, simply look at the Gold Amulet strung's graph. Smoking Mils leaders were buying 1 or 2 gp above mid, collecting many of them, it rose a bit before the manipulation. After this, the leaders and ranks would tell the clan the new item, and the 'dumped' is unreasonable and it never will be reached. Assuming we're talking about public manipulation clans. The leaders do nothing for a few days, and encourages the clan of unknowing victims to keep buying the item. Why? Because the GE system is exploitable and when artificial demand keeps max offers completing, the price would rise. Then, after the item has risen significantly, the leaders would dump. They do not tell you this. Basically the scam part is where you continue buying your stock, and suddenly your offers complete instantly, leaving no time to cancel the offers. As soon as other players catch on, it's far too late to dump. The supply has well surpassed demand and it's very likely you'll ride the price wave right down under what it was before the manipulation. The autotypers are only there to encourage more idiots to join their little pyramid schemes, and the smarter people usually dump early, within 3 ge updates of the item after stockpiling a commonly manipulated item (such as barrows, karil's leatherskirt, ahrim's staff, etc) My thoughts on them: Well, manipulation clans are a massive, organised scam but there is pretty much nothing we can do about it. Until the day the GE isn't run by 12 year olds, and Jagex sorts out a better, non exploitable system, we will continue to see manipulation. I see them like as like getting spots as a teenager (weird comparison); it's annoying, but you just can't get rid of them. Anyways, feel free to correct whatever I said, kinda tired so probably will have made errors. Edit - To the guy who said it's technically breaking the rules; Until Jagex amends the rules, or finds a way to carefully word the rule 'Item Scamming', there is always a loophole. Besides, what can Jagex do against private Manipulation clan anyways? There will be not enough evidence to mute/ban them.
  19. Ah, good old memories of this thread. I’ve been reading this for like an hour now and here’s some old pics (and quotes); (put in a hide tag cause I noticed how big it’ll be..)
