  1. Considering that both parties don't really understand JaGex's systems - purely speculative 'solutions' will be pointless as we cannot be sure if it's even possible for JaGex to use them. The update on account creation is a step in the right direction - but it's a matter of time before they start using workarounds for that too. I shall reiterate - If you want to kill the bots, you have to kill the demand. Try preventing a gunshot, instead of indefinitely patching it with low grade plasters.
  2. I'm sure there is a third option - to believe it is unanswerable, and thus may/may not exist, although their actions are influenced regardless of the state of belief.
  3. I'm pretty sure a 15+ year old would have sufficient capacity to understand moral qualms and why it's inappropriate to do the aforementioned given some relevant and sufficient reasoning. I don't think it's a fair assumption that children are essentially stupid until they reach the age of 18 or whatever other arbitrary figure attributed to the supposed 'age of reason'. Or maybe I just have too high expectations for a child. Hmm.
  4. I wonder what your potential children will think about your attitudes towards child abuse + possible neglect.
  5. Let's just say your parents micromanaged your own life under an iron fist. What would your very own reactions be? How would you feel? Hate? Resentment? Rebellion? Perhaps even anguish? Kids are as complex as you are - and they will develop into individuals too. To deliberately cause any of the above is neither desirable nor effective. People ought to realise the truth.
  6. The perfect mix for rebellion, hatred and resentment. It sounds like you have good ideals, adrenal.
  7. People incapable of using any technology - yet they insist that they're perfectly adept to it. The security of Tif and it's downtime. People who talk to a driver - it stalls the entire bus you inconsiderate bastard. Overuse of euphemisms. People who use the same ringtones.
  8. I actually fit in two categories: Agnostic Atheist (I believe it's unknowable, but I choose not to believe anyways) and Apatheist Agnostic (Since thousands of years of debate has neither proved nor disproved the existence of a deity(s), even if it were to exist, it doesn't seem to concern us (humans). Thus, it should be of little theological interest) @MIB: What are you trying to say? If, like Christians, one believes in a non interventionist God, then what difference does it make to your current life? Religious beliefs tend to only concern the afterlife - which we can't yet prove nor disprove (although, what's there to disprove without initial proof?) Atheism is a concept derived from the fact that most events suggested by Religious doctrines appear to be implausible and sometimes self contradictory (Problem of evil and such). It's not a belief - it's a disbelief. I believe that even if there were a greater being out there, it's not really concerned with us.
  9. Let's assume God to be real for a moment. Why should we believe in the Christian God, but not the Islamic one? Or any other God for that matter? What makes Christianity the right religion to follow?
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLSWD6OLEs0 I agree with most of that.
  11. I actually like this project - it's essentially requesting innovation from it's very own players. I'd like to see something inventive like the idea of 'Charmchompas' as a Dungeoneering pet - a passive way to obtain charms with a small drawback (that it requires charms to continue harvesting).
  12. I know far too many people who think beating a kid is fine because it works, or that they've had to suffer it before.
  13. Whoa, my old thread got bumped. On the issue of beating: I think no child should ever endure beating - it's essentially physical abuse and an expression of anger through violence. It teaches very little in terms of values and such, but it does is perpetuate a feeling of fear and discomfort so the child seems to be obedient - and thus would make it seem like it's an effective method to keep children in line. I'd say maybe it does work for a few years - but in the long run, all it does is create more problems later on in life. This is speaking from someone of Chinese upbringing - it's considered traditional and non-taboo to beat a child if they 'misbehave'. I do promise myself that if I were to have kids, I would keep an open perspective about things. I don't like the generational gap babyboomers who blame television and music and videogames for youth violence. I guess time shall tell whether that's the case.
  14. It's a little difficult to judge as a man though, sees. A woman has to become a vessel for 9 months and experience some of the most painful things in order to carry and deliver the child. People assume adoption is some miracle cure - it's really not. It seems like we're dipping into the fallacies again - you're oversimplifying it by labeling it as 'convenience'. It's far more than that - having a child is a lifechanging decision that involves spending an extortionate amount of money for proper upbringing and could be considered a time investment. Childbirth is considered one of the most painful things a woman could experience too - we're talking about completely giving up the mother's rights here. The main problem we have now is a society which promotes having unsafe sex but doesn't want the associated consequences - that's what needs to change, not abortion laws.
  15. Who doesn't love George Carlin? *some of the stuff in the video is relevant to this thread*
  16. I'm not concerned with it myself, but one of the reasoning behind the anti-abortionist arguments stem from the idea that a fetus can feel pain when it's being 'killed' or aborted. Of course, the very idea itself is subject to debate, but if we want to sway public opinion effectively (or at least, tip.it's), we mustn't present the concept to be inconsistent with the principals we have with killing any other thing 'humanely'. I'm somewhat convinced that it should be a choice of a fully conscious, living human mother to whether she should be a vessel for a developing embryo/fetus. We must realise that by disallowing a woman to make that choice, it puts her rights to life (carrying a child can kill in certain medical situations), liberty (can't have free will if there's no choice now, can there?) and pursuit of happiness (if the mother is unsatisfied with carrying a child she doesn't want). The mental anguish seems to overwhelm the 'rights' of the unborn embryo, assuming there is any. If pregnancy didn't necessitate carrying a child, I'd consider abortion immoral. Before that technology exists, I'd say say it's the choice of the mother.
  17. Well, if they want attention, give them attention. "Hey, mind if I take a picture of you two making out? ;)"

Oh baby, it looks so fine. It makes me sad that I barely have any food in my cupboards and fridge.
  19. Please don't turn this debate into mere semantics - it misses the point entirely. Can we please agree whether + when a fetus has the same rights to life as a normal person, and whether these rights should be considered superior to the mother's rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The flawed argument posted previously had a good point - it's entirely dependent on the mother to survive. Abortion sometimes seems like the best choice, even when it's not a good choice. I also must digress - aren't there 'humane' ways to kill a fetus, such as via ingestion of certain food/drugs?
  20. This is rather frustrating - I seem to be getting sufficient sleeping hours, but I still feel tired as though I've stayed up all night when I attend school. Is it oversleeping, or my body trying to catch all the missed sleep?
  21. It most certainly has. To me, it seems it's extremely dependent on both parental views, and social views of the subject matter - even the most caring and accepting parents cannot successfully provide a proper upbringing in an environment where everyone holds some level of prejudice against a child. As highlighted in Kimberly's case, sometimes it's not the parents views that really matter. If there's both social and parental support, there's nothing stopping you - unless you disagree with it. Free your mind, I say.
  22. Hah! One of the earliest posts on this thread has been reiterated!
  23. Someone did that with a pound coin before. Little did they know, I had a chisel on me at the time.
  24. I'm not sure, I usually do it via mirc code.
  25. I guess you're right, the use of caps lock did imply shouting though, which seemed uncalled for. Somewhat offtopic: Someone showed me a cyanide and happiness strip that seemed quite humourous:
