  1. That occurs on account creation - they are assigned generic names like #PlayerXXXX to identify them before a display name has been assigned. It's amazing how much you can learn about JaGex by simply having a little bit of laggy internet.
  2. Protip - javascript: document.body.contentEditable = 'true'; document.designMode = 'on'; void 0
  3. Trust trading is not against the rules now as dicing is not against the rules. However in my opinion they should make dicing against the rules, it is worse then merchanting (which is in my opinion a form of scam, don't want to debate about that here), they should just make a dicing room where you can dice against computers, would be a lovely money drain. Lol at merchenting being a form of a scam. You clearly just lost the debate with that sentence. This. Price manipulation clans are definitely a scam, but merchanting most certainly is not. And thus people should realise the importance of language in highly emotive debates. By simply conflating a term, it can destroy the entire argument should the error be spotted.
  4. I don't think that's the point - there's simply an imbalance between desirable high level content versus the undesirable low level content. The proposed solution isn't to make the game faster, the goal is to make it seem less repetitive and 'mindless' - i.e. by making RS engaging, like the nature of PvP. The effectiveness of the proposed update will largely depend on how they execute it.
  5. Whilst that's a valid point - perhaps JaGex should focus on creating alternate methods without the grind, and thus allow the player to choose how they want to play.
  6. This has been reiterated time and time again - indeed, grind is a major factor that makes RuneScape a 'mind-less' game with overly simplistic gameplay where achievement (in the context of stats) is measured by persistence and determination, rather than actual ability. It does seem that your OP is littered with rhetoric though - it may be in your interests to edit that in order to make your rant a little more persuasive. This was indeed the main gist of my article that's been published a few months ago. EDIT - Is it possible to post a shorter version of a proposed solution? I would say a way to remove grind is to make many alternate training methods which are spontaneous, engaging and unpredictable. I'd say by keeping a player's mind active, it does indeed enhance enjoyment of the game, as it's constantly devising strategies rather than anticipating a repetitive activity.
  7. As a heads up: It seems that during our recent 'event' that caused the downtime, that our registered emails have been collected and used for mailing lists of the phishers. Please be aware that any email you may receive allegedly from 'JaGex' that requests logging into RuneScape is almost always a phisher/trojan.
  8. Would you care to explain why? Whilst we're each entitled a right to express one's own views, there is no right to say we ought to accept it without reasoning to support one's claim.
  9. I'm glad my article's message has been received, even if it wasn't directly. The generally accepted 'not fun' factor - the grind, has been one of the most prevalent issue throughout the history of RS. Despite the initial setback by disgruntled players who feel that the anti-grind related updates would devalue their achievements, it must be realised that the grind is the root cause of many symptoms we see as in RS today (e.g. botting, and rwting largely necessitated by the endless hours required by the game in order to enjoy 'high-quality content' that's spontaneous and unpredictable). It really would depend how JaGex decides to tackle the said grind though. Only time will tell - this could make them, or break them. It's a little like playing Russian Roulette.
  10. Careless masses of people who spend billions of dollars per year on things they don't need, thanks to mass advertising.
  11. To convey the magnitude of how prevalent the problem/miracle may be, here's a clip or two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myvclwLnUSI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiDHA4Wkmxs
  12. As you should all know - many western societies are still suffering from tough Economic times - from unemployment to inflation. What does this mean for us? It means ever tightening budgets with the average household struggling to pay for all bills, groceries and luxuries. How could one overcome this? By being frugal! Couponing can be a great way to lower costs - a standard shopper could save between 20%-40% of their shopping by simply differentiating wants from needs, having a keen eye on prices and actually investing some time checking out the market. Perhaps you didn't really need the supposedly newest gadget afterall. Another area of great expenditure - living expenses, seemingly trivial at first glance, adds up to a considerable amount at the end of each month. In America, a sport known as 'Extreme couponing' is practiced by thousands of shoppers every year as our wallet strings get tighter and tigher. What is Extreme couponing you may ask? Extreme couponing is defined to be "an activity that combines shopping skills with couponing in an attempt to save as much money as possible while accumulating the most groceries." It allows consumers (us) to turn 500 dollar shopping sprees into mere 10 dollars worth in costs. What's your ways to remain frugal, and what's your views on extreme couponing? Share tips, tricks, advice and opinions!

  15. 95% ? Sure of that? Proof? What's so hard to understand? All those green dragon bots, turoth bots,wc bots, sorc garden bots, they are all for RWT they aren't someones main account. You think that they can sell hundreds of thousands worth of RSGP with one bot? They make thousand of them and make them farm same thing and then you don't make 100k/h you make 100M/h. I never claimed my numbers are correct, but RWT bots make majority of bots and that's for sure, even if they somehow don't I would still vote for free trade removal, because RWT bots made economy what it is today. And captchas are very annoying,I wouldn't want to see that in game That's not the point - it was simply to say that the figure you posted seemed highly unlikely and thus is likely to have been a fictitious figure. Hyperbole, or any other form of rhetoric, is considered a weakness in argument. Ok,what number were you thinking about? I wouldn't give a precise figure, because I just don't know. The chances are that the f2p bots are likely to be a more significant figure, and the types of bots used by RWTers and lazy people would be quite different. If I were to guess, I'd say f2p bots occupy at least 2/3 of all bots, as previously cheap membership pins are no longer available.

  17. I'm sure they don't specialize in purely bot-busting - they're likely to have been originally engaged in another role, but have diverted attention towards combating bots as it has become such a big issue.
  18. Or perhaps Jagex could just randomly shift around the IDs of items randomly every few days? They already do that - it takes about 30 minutes for a BCEL Injector to 'fix' the issue.
  19. That sounds like a perfect solution for removing a significant amount of the playerbase.
  20. I don't quite see how capcha's can be unsolvable - could you please explain? Furthermore - what about those with visual impairment, or colour-blindness? It's not a magical solution, bots will most certainly be able to solve it in near future should it ever be implemented, and it only hinders legitimate gameplay. As I've said before - the entire point of combating bots would be to improve gameplay - capcha's can only have a negative effect on gameplay. I highly doubt this would work - fatigue was removed for a reason.
  21. This seems interesting - it seems that interracial marriages themselves are more taboo between certain races - i.e. it would be shunned upon for a Chinese person to marry a black person, but it would be okay with a marriage between a Chinese person and a white person. Would this be racial discrimination, or simply an expression of 'incompatibility' between these races? I'm sure these problems arise with certain other groups too, but I quoted my own race as I'm most familiar with them.
  22. I expected you to justify your opinion, instead of posting without any kind of support to your seemingly ridiculous claims.
  23. The amount of rhetoric in the above post (Powerfrog) is simply shameful - please revise your posts before posting. There are plenty of incentive for a mainstream programmer to circumvent capcha - scripting is highly profitable. The difficulty of solving a capcha is a value judgement - it would be more of an inconvenience than anything. You must not neglect the target audience - those being mostly young teenagers who's likely to have a short attention span for solving seemingly pointless 'random events'. A solution such as this would be completely counterproductive and simply impractical - how are you suggesting it to be implemented? EDIT @Von: I'm sorry, but did I miss something? Last time I've heard - there weren't 95% of bots. Please provide some support for your currently unfounded claims.
  24. Banned for blasphemy - I've shifted articles for working on.
  25. The problem we face today is a unique one: JaGex has to be able to describe the anti-botting system in great detail to bot-scripters, yet still prevent bot scripters from scripting it without harming legitimate gameplay. I wonder whether we could come up with something good without resorting to designing a new game entirely, or changing the mechanics so much it would no longer be a browser game.
