  1. Considering how everybody is bashing merchanting clans in this topic rather than giving a simple 'yes' or 'no', you're probably right lol. Maybe it's not even worth bothering.
  2. I have a guide to flipping in my siggy it's really not as dangerous as everyone is saying especially if you do it right. @mujamill Well I think with more people I'll be able to make more than that and, besides, that was one of my first tries, I'll get better over time. Plus I prefer investing because I don't have the time for day trading like I used to. @lady_ninane Is there a post here on Tip.It that says so? If you can link me to it then of course won't. If not though why should I listen to you over the guy who wrote the rules for that part of the forum?
  3. If you want to try flipping (merchanting) I have a beginner's guide you can read (link in my siggy).
  4. I didn't say it's not a manipulation clan - I said it's not like those buyout clans. Regardless, though, as I mention on my blog, we don't specifally buy stuff at Max price so we won't be forcing items up. For instance, I bought 500M worth of Addy Ores about 2 weeks ago at 1130 each (which was below market price) and sold for 1350gp for around 75m profit. EDIT: I just got a private message from the guy who wrote the thread that has the rules on it (peterpan538) saying:
  5. No. You don't understand. I'm completely against buyout groups. You can read my post about how it workson my Blog if you want or just believe me. So, with that said, is it okay if I recruit for that?
  6. What he said ^ If you need a better weapon or are unable to get that, just get a friend who has a high smithing llevel to make it for you.
  7. Or can only combat and skill based clans be advertised there? It's not anything like those annoying buyout clans - it's a long-term investing clan for people with 500m+ If not, is there any forum in which I could?
  8. That may be all well and good for you but most people don't have enough room on their Friend's List to be so discretionary. Plus, it could work vice versa e.g. If an old friend (with P Chat set to FRIENDS) deletes you for whatever reason you won't be able to PM him and you may think he stopped playing. - Then clearly we stopped being friends the moment the person deleted me, besides, if you delete someone it's because you don't expect to talk to them again. Well if you have friends set to 'on' then that doesn't have to be the case. When I delete people I almost always do it with the idea that if they ever get on again or want to PM me again I'll re-add them. So it really can be seen as a benefit in this case to have it set to 'on'. Sure, if you have a popular CC which that particular friend goes too, but, again, that may not be the case for most people. If you're looking to get into contact with someone who isn't online, or if you want to see if they still have you added, where do you go? Their CC. A lot of people don't have their CCs set up or don't go in them and there's a good chance they won't be in there the exact time when you join to check. Plus, when you have lots of other friends to talk to and are busy with Runescape, chances are you won't even think to do so or will assume the person has just not been on much lately. A threat? I don't think getting a spam PM from someone on Runescape can really be considered a threat - I mean, what's the worst that could happen? Especially because, in the rare occasion that it happens, you can quickly and easily ignore that person. I wasn't using threat in that sense, and really, I prefer not to use my ignore list because there is no need for me to. And to add more to the whole point about friends who have quit, they know there's a chance people won't remember who they are when they leave, plus if they really wanted to stay in contact with people, they'd find a way. Okay, well if you admit it's not really a threat and that there are rarely people you need to ignore, then why leave P Chat set to 'friends' anyway? Again, you could avoid the whole problem and inconvenience concerning friends who have quit and removing from friend's list if you simply set your P Chat to 'on'. So what's your real reason for not doing so?' My old stuff is in Italics, yours is in normal and my new stuff is in bold.
  9. That may be all well and good for you but most people don't have enough room on their Friend's List to be so discretionary. 10. It might not be someone "who has randomly added" you. In most cases, for me at least, it's just an old friend that I've deleted to clear up some space for my Friends list.
  11. I'd say either kalphites dagganoths or warped tortoises. Kuradal assigns all three.
  12. Exactly. My PM is almost always on friends. I get a lot of PMs from people I don't know and sometimes I just want to play the game - not chat (so sometimes my PM is completely off). Whenever I'm on RuneScape, I'm always runecrafting. Runecrafting is a skill that demands your attention and I'm constantly running somewhere and thus having to click. Talking to people greatly slows down my progress and call me anti-social, but sometimes I just want to play the game and play it efficiently. I see absolutely nothing rude about wanting a little privacy. As I said, I don't have much of a problem with people doing it just to avoid spam but average player does not get constantly spammed. And, of course, there are times when it's appropriate to turn Private Chat off because you're doing something that requires complete concentration.
  13. Whip is better for training Slayer and Cb. You might as well stick with that until you have higher levels and can do boss hunting. In the mean time if you need money I'd recommend merchanting on the GE.
  14. Yea, I don't really have much of a problem with people doing it because they really get spammed alot - as I mentioned in my first post. I was at one point getting spammed alot by people asking me how to merch so I was thinking of turning on private chat to 'friends' but instead (because I thought it was kinda lame) I just wrote a merching guide they could read instead of always asking me and so I haven't been bothered nearly as much since.
  15. I mean that it's almost a matter of stature for some people whether or not they have Private Chat set to 'On' or 'Friends'. Sure, I have a pride in treating everyone how I would treat them in real life. But is that a bad thing? I don't think so. - I'll reply to more posts soon but I g2g now.
  16. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE FIRST POST (especially the bottom part) BEFORE REPLYING AND IF SOMEONE HAS ALREADY SAID BASICALLY WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY, DON'T REPEAT IT (like "I do it cuz I get spammed by unwanted PMS") I always leave my Private chat set to 'On'. I always felt that by turning Private Chat to 'Friends only' people are basically saying that: (1.) They're too good/busy to talk with people who aren't on their friends list. (2.) They're unwilling to help anybody who might be PMing them for help with something. (3.) They are at a higher level above those who have their Private Chat set to 'On'. EDIT: I thought of one other reason not to have it set to 'Friends': (4.) Say you delete a dear old friend from your friend's list because he hasn't been on for a long time (or for whatever reason) and then A week or so later he starts playing again. If you have Private Chat set to 'on' then can PM you, you can re-add him and your friendships will be restored. If you have it set to 'Friends', though, he won't be able to PM you and might even think that you don't play anymore - your friendship won't and never will be restored. So, my questions to you are: - What do you have you're private chat set to and why? - When (if ever) you have Private Chat set to 'on' about how often do you get spammed by other players? (e.g. once a day, twice a day once a week, etc...) - In what ways do you agree/disagree with what I'm saying. Explain. In light of responses I've been getting, I'd like to make a few comments >> If you honestly get unwanted PMs all the time when you have Private Chat set to 'on' then I see no problem with keeping it on 'friends' except that you may run into the #4 problem (read above). I doubt, though, that the average person gets many unwanted PMs. I think Morionic says it well: >> Some people are saying that, while leaving private chat to 'friends' they leave public chat 'on' to help other people. To me, this makes less sense than keeping private chat 'on' and public chat to 'friends'. It is in public chat where the most spam is - especially at places like the GE. If someone in public chat does have a question or wants to talk to me (which barely ever happens), they can simply PM me and so I avoid all the other public chat spam. >> If there are particular times when you need to concentrate or particular places where you get lots of unwanted PMs (like, as mentioned, being asked to borrow stuff by noobs at GE) then turn it 'off' or to 'friends' and then turn it back when you're out of that situation. These are not good enough reasons to always keep it to 'friends' or 'off' though. >> Sure you have the "right" by Jagex to keep private chat to 'friends' or 'off' just as you have the "right" to talk to only your own friends or nobody in real life. That still doesn't mean that's it not lame or arrogant to speak to people not on your friends list or, in real life, to not speak to people who aren't your friends. >> I really do not think giving out your phone number to random people is comparable to leaving private chat to 'on' for two main reaons: 1) There is no actual threat in leaving P Chat set to 'on' but there is one in giving people your phone number. 2) By turning Private Chat to 'on' you're not giving something out, you're merely not blocking other people who might by chance PM you. A better analogy would be this: to set your phone so that only people already in your contacts can call/text you is like setting private chat to 'friends' - which I'm sure would cause some inconveniences. To set your phone so that everyone can call, regardless of whether their phone number is in your contacts, is like setting private chat to 'on' - yes people whom you don't know could call you for no reason and curse at you but this hardly ever happens and most of the time it will be people calling for a legitimate reason (maybe they changed their phone number or it was just A friend who had your phone number but you didn't have theirs for some reason).
  17. you can trade, never tried req assist, seems kinda pointless. okay, sweet. Now I just need to find someone with 99 Smithing.
  18. If so, I'd really appreciate it if someone with 97+ smithing would make/assist me in making a (super poisoned if possible) Promethium Spear that I can bind because I'm only 81 smithing and 80 herblore but i have 99 att/str/def.
  19. Sometimes I find posts either on this Forum or Runescape's Forums that I want to share with readers on my Blog. Is it okay legally if I quote a part of these posts as long as I link back to them? Do I just need to get their permission first? I know I would need permission if I wanted to quote from other people's blogs but I don't know how it works with Forums. Do you know if it's specifically against the rules for either tip.it or runescape's forums?
  20. Aww that's dumb :/ can i go back to my previous level at least? You're right. It's really dumb. I'm not gonna continue training it until Jagex fixes it.
  21. you get 4exp per ammy. I went from just below 81 crafting to 22k below 83 crafting what all was said and done.
  22. Well you could do that and/or you could try merching. There's a link in my siggy to a Merching guide I wrote. It even has a spreadsheet updated from rs database that tells good buy and sell prices for good flipping items.
  23. It is not! lol. I think it's the finest lookin' outfit I ever wore or saw.
  24. haha nice. I got 99 att and str at the same time and Defence just a little bit before them (I fought controlled from 70-99 the entire way with whip.)
