Crushing and stabbing weps never used.
I should rephrase that to their most used weapons or "general weapons".

new melee armour for nonmems
This is the dumbest thread ever. Before you flame me, I'm f2p so don't say f2p also generates profit from adverts. f2p melee already has like WTH 7 kinds of armor and 1 kind of degrading armor. f2p ranged? Like 2-3 kinds. f2p mage? WTH NOT EVEN A FULL SET OF ARMOR AND YOU'RE ASKING FOR MORE MELEE ARMOR?!?! MAKE MELEE MORE OVERPOWERED. As if it isn't overpowered already.

PMods - Purpose or Status?
I guess the PMod system is fine now, but irl it happens with almost any form of authority, even very slight, over others. And others feel uncomfortable about it. (People will behave very well if a policeman passes by) Probably a solution would be to look through the list of PMods carefully and fire those who don't do their duty well/abuse their power. Another solution would to be to reduce the power they have, so they cannot abuse their status so easily. Maybe mods should be better trained in how they catch people breaking rules. They shouldn't announce themselves loudly and catch people immediately, but should sit quietly and gather concrete evidence before catching people.

Different kinds of mage weapons
As we all know, melee has like 10+ weapons for f2p and far more in p2p. Ranged has 3 different kinds of weapons in f2p and quite a bit more of them in p2p. So how many kinds does mage have? *drum roll* A GRAND total of 1...What-1 kind only?????? So I'm suggesting that there should be more variety to mage weapons. The wand can be used better in conjunction with bind spells as it is faster and it can also be used for quick attacks or kills. The orb can also be used to defend better and as a kind of "defender" for mages. And newer, better kinds of staffs/wands/orbs can also make mages better in combat. Their highest mage bonus is like +30 and ranged has about +60 and melee about +70. Furthermore their armor is crap. Wand: I'm sure you know magicians use wands, and they're fast and small. So why shouldn't there be wands in runescape? Fast attack speeds but lower bonuses. 1handed Orb: Obviously, orbs hold magical power, or else why would fortune tellers and oracles use them? So maybe mages should be able to use these quite heavy 1h/2h weapons. They won't provide extremely high bonuses to attack, but give significant defence bonuses. And possibly there will be a different kind of orb that is wielded on your left hand that is not used for attack but simply provides a bit of def and atk bonuses. I know we already have books, but books don't provide defence bonuses if I'm not mistaken. And maybe there should also be a chance that the orb will fire a magic spell that you're using again. The chance of it will increase with your magic level. Better staffs/wands/orbs/robes: There is only 1 miserable type of staff, the normal kind, which gives crappy bonuses. Maybe there should be new kinds of staff/orbs/wands/robes that are better. As I already said above, mages' attack and defence bonuses are rubbish compared to melee and ranged so they deserve an update.

The Contemporary Spellbook
I think that the combination of push/shove/flak blast, disport/disport opponent, cement/bond, blackout and debase should be more than enough to keep PJing to a minimum. Most of these spells allow you to cast it on people other than the one you're fighting. I don't know how poison works either... but isn't there also a disease thing? Anyhow, I don't see magical forces as things that can poison opponents, I think it has to be contact (a poisoned arrow, or dagger). I've read of other games having something similar to this, and all it took was for one boss to cast it to wipe out an entire world (I think it was on WoW.... but I don't play WoW so I couldn't tell you). So, if two maxed players are going at it, and another casts overwhelm on another, it will hit a minimum of 18, and a maximum of 36? Something about hitting at least 18s, and averaging 27 is a bit over-powered, even for P2P. A combination of those spells won't effectively and 100% stop a pjer. What I want is a low leveled cheap spell that does the job without a lot of fancy pushing back and waste of runes and time. Ok maybe 2+ seconds was a bit too much but I don't see much problem if it was 3-4 seconds and above. By the way, magic CAN poison quite obviously. You can't infer from past examples that it can't. If you've never really seen magic at work (obviously no one has) you can't prove that it can't poison. Maybe the minimum hit should be reduced by a bit, but I mean, thats only for a MAXED player. And this is designed for owning meleers, who have 2 skills that should be similarly high (atk and str) so it won't be so powerful on mages/rangers who should have very high mage/range and significantly lower defence/whatever. This will also kill those annoying hybrids combining mage and range as they will have 2 high leveled skills. And anyway, some good melee weps can already average about that much (abyssal whip+rune defender) and that is on lower levels. This is supposed to be more effective on higher levels, and quite useless on lower levels. And the spell will probably require at least 95+ mage.

3 hours is a little too much... And you hinted at up to 7 hours! Seriously I'm saying a MAX amount of time. Obviously that guy is a noob if he can't get it within like 3 days 1 h per day.

More proof: How come spears are crap if huge and famous empires like the Romans and Chinese infantry used them as basic weapons?

F2P Mage and range underpowered
And? WHICH IS WORTH 70K This goes for both fighters and mages. MELEE ARMOR & WEPS are a one time buy whereas mage's stuff have to be constantly replaced (who uses those 2mil+ armor that degrades so fast anyway?) I never said constant 16's , i just said the max hit is higher, and its more accurate. So? Their armor is crap and they're going to die to pjers. Hitting high and accurate won't help you in fighting a full health potted+probably higher level pjer when your hp is low and unpotted and in melee range.

F2P mage frustration
Obviously f2p mage is too weak, I mean-what kind of crappy armor do they have?!?!?!?! They don't even have proper legwear!!!!!! Their spells could do with a bit of tweaking but their armor and weps are crap.

High ranking players not as "nerdy" as we think?
High ranking players may or may not be nerds for all you know. You can't be sure unless you stay in his house or attach a video recorder to him. And they might just have played for a very long period of time (8 years or whatever) but do not play much everyday. You need time, sure, but 2 years of effective and dedicated playing can be more effective than 4 years of messing around without a clear goal or concentration or persistence.

Tip.It Times: 15 Mar 2009
The first article might be boring but its true. Its not so easy as comparing the exp gained, there's also time and money. Unless you're a billionaire who plays 10 hours a day, you won't only look at the exp. And btw, this article isn't about telling you how to train wc and fletching effectively, its to prove a common way of thinking wrong. Many people will think "Yay! I got 55 mining. Now I can powermine mithril!" Obviously this is stupid as iron is the best ore for powermining at that level. Its the same concept. So its basically trying to say that sometimes the higher leveled thing that you can mine/fish/wc/fletch/whatever is not necessarily the best one.

BTW, you not liking FoG is your own opinion. 400 tokens is NOTHING. Really. Just play for 1h every day for at most a week and you'll have 400 tokens or even more.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Saying meleers lose like 70k if they die is the same as mages losing about 175 casts of fire blast, which is what they will bring if they're going to pk for at least a while. Really, can you actually "break even" in f2p pking without being lucky? You probably will get attacked by some 1 item pjers before you can get a decent kill, and even if you get a kill, the drops are usually crap. "Get your drop potential up!" So, if you're unlucky and get attacked by a noob 1 itemer, and you fight back, you waste your drop potential. What if you're unlucky and get a crap drop. Wasted. Get piled by a person like 10 levels higher than you and run into the bank. Wasted. Accidentally attacked a noob. Wasted. Really, mages hit constant 16s at 59 mage using fire blast? Interesting. Learn about MAX hits and AVERAGE hits. You can say that for melee but you're contradicting yourself for mage?

Spot stealers
Maybe the person is just in a bad mood after hopping a few dozen worlds and you're the unlucky person chosen to get outmined by him. There are usually rocks nearby and you can always ask them NICELY if they want to share. Not all people will agree, obviously, and if you keep losing the rock, just hop worlds.

Cost is power, but mages cost too much for their power.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Ok having a max hit of 16 at 35- combat levels might be great, but look at the costs. A fire blast costs about 400gp per blast and that is A LOT for a f2p. Of course, that's cheap crap for a mem but we're talking about F2p here. So I don't see how they are going to break even getting armor like mith or even iron(str pures anyone?), unless they get a lucky drop.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
PJing won't necessarily kill a well prepared mage, but it will be DAMN annoying when you waste your food/pots/whatever and then have to run, as the maddest said.

The Contemporary Spellbook
What about a lower leveled spell that increases the "in combat" time to 30 seconds-lasts for maybe 5 minutes or so?This will prevent PJing, a major problem for mages. It should be quite low leveled because PJers are a problem to mages of all levels. Another suggestion: Plague. A higher leveled spell that poisons an opponent, then it will spread to any enemies standing next to that opponent for 2+ seconds when he has the plague. Those opponents will also get the plague and spread it. The plague will last maybe 15-20 seconds on one person to prevent overpoweredness. Or else a friend could just plague you and you can run around poisoning people everywhere. It will hit 3-5 per (insert time). I'm not a member so I don't know how often poison hits. Last but not least: Overwhelm. A very high leveled spell that will do damage based on (2 highest stats added up) level of the opponent. Max damage done is (2 highest stats added up) divided by 5. Minimum damage is (2 highest stats divided by 10) It will hit high regularly and rarely fails.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Yeah Max hit of 30ish. Hitting regular 15s a few times can kill a person with low hp and eating.

mining, don't do it- waste of time
Why can't it be made just a bit easier? For RC, you can train very fast if you are rich by using runners and also make a profit if you craft nature/whatever runes.

The Contemporary Spellbook
I guess it doesn't work in quest areas/other special places. Entwining for 20 seconds isn't really long. What you can do then is run behind an obstacle, eat, maybe eat again, put on prayer/whatever miscellaneous stuff, blast-what-he's already next to you! But really rune mining running to and fro from the bank takes about 10 mins or so and you can just apparate there in a few seconds.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Especially as they drop every single rune except one if they're lucky. Even if they get to keep one pathetic rune, the others still drop. You might die for all you know. In a "real" fight, you might be down to low hp when you get behind an obstacle, hoping to eat when suddenly "BAM" and you get a free teleport to Lumbridge.
