  1. Are you serious? Never heard that one before... Are you sure that's not just your local pub's policy? I'm not sure the pubs care anyway, they'd be daft to say no to money. Plus it's difficult to tell how drunk somebody is. With me it's really obvious because I give up walking and just crawl everywhere. With others the only noticeable thing is they become a bit louder or overly friendly... and how's the barman to know they're not usually that loud and friendly? It's just a bit impractical trying to enforce that. It is, and although it's hard to specifically enforce, a few years ago there was a case where someone who had just turned 18 and was having their first few drinks tried to keep up with their dad and ended up dying of alcohol poisoning and the pub was charged with manslaughter because they pub shouldn't have kept serving them.
  2. The exact same thing happened to me, and I waited in the ER in excess of 2 hours with a broken wrist and a gash in my knee. And then the nurse was a [puncture] and somehow, despite the anesthesia, managed to hurt me during my knee stitches. And I'm in America. Something like that happened to me. Broke my collarbone once, 2 hour wait. Then I sprained my ankle and got a 3 hour wait. Canada > america IMO. And to whatever idiot said we were spending to much on weapons research, stfu. Anything to prevent americans dying. "anything to prevent americans dying"? Why is it then that in America if people are unlucky enough to get cancer they are often given massive medical bills due to insurance refusing to pay out, and people with genetic problems unable to get insurance in the first place? Whereas in most of the civilised world they wouldn't need to worry about medical bills or insurance.
  3. I'm not sure about in the US but in the UK in bars/pubs/clubs it's illegal to serve people who are already drunk
  4. You are well informed, I was hoping no one would catch that. : \ The brain stops developing around the age of 25. Car insurance and rental car companies know this. In the US you pay a huge extra charge when you rent a car if you're younger. Younger people are more likly to wreck the cars. At what age can you rent a car at the same price as an adult? Twenty five. ;) I'm not sure what the situation is like in the US but in the UK the reason why car insurance is so much more expensive for younger people is partly because of boy racers/other people who drive overconfidentiy causing accidents usually being young and these people usually growing out of it by the time they are in their twenties.
  5. A lot of the reason that the US healthcare system is so crap is because of lobbyists from the group which benefits most from the state it is in - insurance/pharmacutical corporations who make billions in profits every year. Fair enough that the standard of care is OK for people who can get insurance, but what about those who can't? and what about when they decide not to pay out?
  6. The american health"care" system is an absolute disgrace, I live in the UK and although the NHS is far from perfect the fact that I know I won't be at the mercy of insurance companies in the event that I become ill helps me sleep at night.
  7. You didn't get what I was saying there. I said that if it were a last resort I would have a few shots. It is not a last resort. I do not need to have a few shots before I leave the house. And you have absolutely no idea just what I get out of drinking alcohol so don't talk as if you know. woah there, I'm against the "alcohol is evil" campaign as much as anyone but even considering drinking before college as a solution to being shy is a slippery slope - I'm pretty shy myself but would be very concerned for myself if I even considered drinking in the daytime.
  8. What the hell is this sentance supposed to mean?

Sex ed, free condoms and free advice on sexual health is the best option.
  10. No there are a few others that have the legal drinking age of 21 and some others prevent buying certain drinks (such as spirits) until 21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age I read the UK might be increasing the drinking age to 21. I hope they do so I have an excuse as to why I won't go out and drink with my parents on my 18th birthday. The UK government already dismissed the idea. Also even if they did it, thanks to cheap flights etc 18-20 year olds would be able to just go to places in mainland Europe for nights out and the trouble causers would cause trouble there.
  11. Yes, it is a bit backwards how in America the drinking age is 21. Also, no offense to the people who aren't but some people on here are absolutely clueless, e.g.: Please explain. Because it seems for every person that DOES drink responsibly, there's 10 screaming idiots that are just an accident waiting to happen. An example is the fireworks outside right now. It's good that they're getting into the spirit of the holiday, honoring their great nation, but half of these people have no idea what they're doing, and I wouldnt be surprised if by the end of the day I hear screaming and find that someone lost a hand. P.S. I wonder if they know that you can't see fireworks during the day :wall: How old are you? Have you ever got drunk or being in a situation where alcohol is involved?
  12. the number of "the US should nuke north korea off the map" posts make me feel even more sick than the comments of the mad person in north korea
  13. No But you "opening up Cmd" and pinging them isn't a DDOS will do almost nothing
  14. Have to agree with this, people i know doing BTECs get £30 a week for doing jack [cabbage] and spend it getting pissed while i work my arse of doing A Levels and get nothing. [bleep] stupid. The amount of EMA people get isn't anything to do with whether they are doing a BTEC or doing A-levels, it's to do with income. Also I disagree that A-levels are massively harder than BTECs (and I'm doing A-levels but I've seen the massive volume of coursework people on BTECs have to do)
  15. stop reading papers like the sun and the daily mail, UK benefits are low by European standards and although there is a few cases of "scroungers abusing the system" there is lots of people who legitly cannot get a job/cannot work. There are still too many lazy [bleep] abusing the system. You don't need to read those papers to know that. People who actually enjoy living on benefits are rare, it's just the media blows up the rare/extreme cases and makes it look like the problem of "scroungers abusing the system" is bigger than it actually is. Most people on benefits would work but can't either due to lack of jobs, physical disability or mental health problems. Or are like my friend and are too lazy to work, infact he is doing a Cert 2 cource so he can keep getting Youth Allowance, he has no intentions to get a job anytime soon.... Yeah he comes under the "rare" - I admit there is quite a few young people who spend their first few years after finishing school being as lazy as possible but they usually realise that it's not very enjoyable to live on basically just enough to get by for their entire life.

  18. I was about to show the exact same thing but without the complex numbers. Your way works just the same though : : the rule sqrt(a) * sqrt(B) = sqrt(ab) only applies for real numbers, and sqrt(-1) isn't a real number.
  19. welfare benefits in the UK are actually quite low by european standards, don't believe all the stuff about "scroungers" you hear in newspapers like the sun/daily mail I think equal EMA should be given to everyone for the reason that not everyone's parents give them money, but abolishing it would be a bad idea, the "people who only go in for EMA" effect isn't that big really and especially with the recession it can be difficult to get a part-time job to be able to get through college.
  20. i suppose every forum needs to have at least one conspiracy theorist.
  21. I logged onto RS a couple of weeks ago after not playing it for 18months+ and don't know why the hell I ever played it

    this.
  23. I can't believe people STILL haven't moved on
  24. Just another example of how certain topics (torture being one of them) brings out the worst of OT - I can't believe people can write such sadistic stuff then round it off with "them cry about it". Yes serial killers are scum but torturing another human being is never "hilarious".
  25. Got 8 AS exams starting in just over 2 weeks time and I haven't done any proper revision for about 2 weeks, except in lessons. Getting constant As in the mocks is helping my confidence with the exams but probably is one of the biggest contributors to not being able to motivate myself to just sit down and do some work :|
