  1. I think the concept of tablets is pretty simple. Not everyone needs the power and size of laptops/desktops. I think it's fair to say the average consumer uses their computers mostly for simple tasks such as web browsing, music, email, etc. Tablets have made devices that focus on those sorts of tasks. I'd rather be sitting here in front of my TV right now watching the basketball game with a smaller device such as iPad then with my 15in MacBook Pro because all I'm doing is browsing random sites and messing around on Facebook and twitter. In no way am I even coming close to utilizing all the power of my laptop right now.
  2. This thread is for funny pictures, not debating what is considered funny or not. If you can't accept the notation of common sense, use a dictionaries definition while keeping within forum rules and a good rule of thumb, if you have to question it, it's better you don't post it.

Go old school and myspace it up with a cellphone mirror photo.
  5. The nytimes site does that, and all you have to do is delete their cookie. I assume that would work for most sites. Oh jeez, I didn't even think of that. I ended up paying for the NYT's digital subscription about 6 months ago because I was always reaching their 10 article limit. I've reached it on the WSJ before and the LA Times yesterday. If ESPN charged, I'd be [bleep]ed. Just tried, I guess it didn't work for the LA Times.. Bummer.
  6. I have never thought of the need to use some but I feel like if there were any it'd be at an actual Vans store, I don't know if you actually have them in the UK though.. If you can't find anything specifically aimed at canvas shoes, I have a feeling the spray they use one baseball caps might work, something like this.
  7. Locking on OP's request.
  8. Online newspapers cutting you off after reading your free "monthly" allowance..
  9. I'd say it's normal to be curious, especially if you've never experience one.
  10. If Daryl dies because Carl took his gun, I will be so pissed. Daryl is probably my favorite character.
  11. Saw this shared on FB, originally post by 4chan, Caption: THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS, AMERICA!
  12. You still have not explained your position. My examples say that just because of ones degree, it doesn't mean they will go follow that career path they intended. Grades? My friend with the history major was an honor student, the one with a degree in math held roughly a 3.0. What is a typical math major graduate? Do all become teachers or accountants? You assume people follow set paths in lives. You ask more more data but yet you provide nothing more then your assumptions on society. What are your personal credentials that give you credit in your augment? Now you argue social necessity, yet you want talk about the removal of culture from society.. Last time I check culture is a major part of everyday society. Allowing an exception for one media art that gains huge profits is like say that it's alright for only artist like Andy Warhol (yes, I know he is dead) to be allowed to paint but not a random 24 year old with an art degree because the sum of money he is likely to bring in won't equate to the Warhol's in this world. In a system that you describe it's all or nothing, there are no exceptions. Another variable it doesn't appear you've taken into account is the availability of jobs. If everyone that goes to college now were to switch their majors to the ones you find most vitiable, are there enough jobs to support the number of graduates in those fields? I'm starting to build the opinion that you've read/watched (creative art majors probably created said media, btw) to many glamourous or horrify tales about society, but have yet to really experience the world for yourself. I don't see myself continuing in this discussion until you can provide anything compelling to further your argument which you have failed to do as of yet, to be honest.
  13. Naive because your thinking if flawed and you are more then welcome to explain your position at anytime, but as of yet you haven't. I gave you an example of myself and and my major which is a media study, the study of film and film is considered an art. Another example of of why your thinking is flawed, one of my best friends was a History/ Poly Sci major and within a month of graduating (this past spring) he landed a mid range position at Chase Bank with a salary of $60k+ a year, with no prior experience in banking or sales. Another friend who was a math major/film is has recently moved back home and is working an entry level customer service position at a farming equipment company. Another flaw is that teachers (teaching degrees aka education) don't make a ton of money. You're whole argument is that degrees that have better returns for their dollar should be cheaper to pursue then degrees that you claim don't have as great of a return because the government will collect more tax revenue from those with degrees that you believe will have a better dollar for dollar return in the long run. So based on your claim, I should have paid more money to my university, because I am not going to be making as much money as someone with a degree that you believe will earn more money then mine. If anything I should be paying less. You're arguing for inequality.
  14. In four years, I spent roughly $80,000 in out-of-state tuition on my film degree at a public university. Are you saying I should have paid more? Did you know that American films are one of the US's top exports? And how do media/art degrees not contribute to society? That just doesn't make sense, your entirely basing your opinion off what you believe are majors/careers that lead to success finically, that's great in theory but not every person that majors in mathematics, engineering, etc are going to be making six figures or whatever you envision to be "contributing to society." I honestly belief you need to reevaluate your stance on the issue and do the proper research before you jump to such naive claim.
  15. Rating scale? Economical sustainability? What are you talking about?
  16. I don't like using touch screens, so I stick with laptops - which I can use the files/programs from my Desktop PC as well. That's understandable. I imagine when this when windows 8 is released they're going to try pushing it on tablets pretty quickly, would you then consider giving tablets a try? Keyboard or no keyboard?
  17. I preordered one this morning, There will always be comparable products released out on the market. Samsung has done an impressive job at keep right up there with Apple with quality and performance of their products. Personally at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference. @Giordano, why would you want a physical keyboard on a tablet? Also, moving this to T&C..

No, you've been able to multitask since iOS 4 (something like 2 years now). I've been using Apple products (mostly computers) for a long now though, and I find their products most practical for my lifestyle. I also am not one of those persons that goes out and buys the newest Apple products just to have the latest. This will be my first iPad. My brother is getting his because he works for a internet company and their primary focus is their iPad app.
  19. stevepole replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
It took me two hours, but I have successfully pre-ordered an iPad 3, twice. One for me, the second for my brother.
  20. I assume it's a funny sight, but it can't be posted here sorry. Nudity and all and someone could find it inappropriate.
  21. stevepole replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
Not bad though, thats a decent chunk off tuition per semester especially if you're in-state.
  22. stevepole replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
Mo money, mo beer. :shades: For real though, congrats. Is it $12,000 per semester/quarter or year?

I just finished watching it, it's objective is to make a war criminal, Joseph Kony's name famous and his crimes, which include murder, enslavement, sexual enslavement and rape. The outcome they're looking for is to make him so well known that US continues funding and supporting the hunt for the capture of Kony,

  25. I think the field one is my favorite. I also liked this one too: Overall though they're pretty good, about a third of them I don't care for, but you can't like them all.
